Thread 3; go!

Hello - finally joining this thread after lurking forever. I'm 40, and after an early MC last year, thought I would never get another BFP. It finally happened, after a nice holiday, while the GP was doing busy referring us for infertility investigations...

South Kent.

allchik · 12/08/2012 11:25

Hello everyone, hope everyone is feeling good? I think I have got my energy back a little bit, but Im on my 6 weeks summer hols so thats probably helping! ;)

Feeling movement most days now which is really nice, just 2 more weeks to wait till the 20wk scan.....I really hope I can go into this one feeling a bit more relaxed as was in floods of tears before the 12 week one and couldnt even bare to look at the screen till I saw my hubby smile :(

Belly is getting very big now eeek! Am going to need to invest in some more maternity clothes soon.....so you all know, new look have got a huge sale on their maternity (although not much left in my size so...?)

xxx

Birdies · 12/08/2012 12:54

Thanks for remembering Pascha, yes it's tomorrow, eek. Am in 'waiting' mode though, can't seem to get on with anything.

Lol re looking like a sausage, think I will give those a miss for a bit! Mind you, I had a really dodgy back the other day so may end up joining you with the attractive belly bands.

Thanks for the tip allchik, I'll have a look. I got a nice cheap dress off eBay the other day (a Next one, brand new) pleased with it (more for winter with tights though).

Hope everyone's ok.

happyhow · 12/08/2012 13:15

There are just about zero nice maternity clothes in the shops up here at the moment so think I'll be mostly Internet shopping.

I've got a bit more energy now but I think that has something to do with being on holiday for six weeks and not doing much apart from reading books and watching the Olympics! Back to school next Monday though but also the 20 week scan!! Takes the edge off having to go back to work... Wink

I did a 7 mile walk at 14 weeks and it crippled me for the rest of the week... Did a 40 min walk with dog the other night and was stiff and sore the rest of the night. Sad

BuntyCollocks · 12/08/2012 13:51

Looking forward to hearing your reports, birdies and pascha.

Hope you're all having a good weekend!

Good luck tomorrow Birdies. Let us know how you get on. Have got mine on 20 August and am literally counting days. Just bought a doppler from Amazon and DH and I listened to baby's heartbeat yesterday which was amazing. I still can't feel any movements, so just needed a bit of reassurance that all was OK. Went to one of my husband's work parties yesterday and got lots of comments on how well and properly pregnant I looked so good to have a bit of a bump at last. I've just splashed out on lots of maternity clothes so can't wait for them to arrive then I can show my bump off!

missymooboo · 12/08/2012 14:08

Hi ladies, joined way back when first thread started. Have just been so tired that haven't been on for months. Now 19weeks, have scan fri 17th. My due date is 5th jan. could one of you lovely ladies put me on list as I'm clueless. Think I'm going to have to have whole evening to read through all the posts. You ladies like to chat Grin

missymooboo · 12/08/2012 14:09

It's baby number 3 and I'm 34 x x

missymooboo · 12/08/2012 14:11

Ha see someone has very similar name to me! Hi missymoo

Birdies · 12/08/2012 20:06

Thanks bunty and complicated. I've also been literally counting down the days and can't believe it's finally here. I'm a bit fed up of constantly wishing time away though, if all goes well I'm going to try to just enjoy each day (note: 'try'!).

And welcome back missymooboo (oh dear the two missy's are going to confuse me now!!)

Ps in case you didn't know, the office of national statistics list of baby names for 2011 are out tomorrow morning, am quite excited to see where my DD's name and planned names for DD2 are!

SquealyB · 13/08/2012 11:05

Good luck today birdies. Welcome missy

mrsbugsywugsy · 13/08/2012 12:44

just been catching up with the last week's worth of news. I have been visiting relatives for the last few days up north where there is no internet

Congratulations bunty on your scan.

Good luck today birdies and welcome to missy and any other newbies.

I definitely have more energy than early on but visiting family has worn me out! I got in at 8 last night and went straight to bed.

I have a noticeably round belly now. I'm a little worried that it is also fat around the top, so it might just be pizza. I don't think I've felt movement yet. I'm 16 and a bit weeks (am I the only one who can't remember exactly how many days?)

mrsbugsywugsy · 13/08/2012 12:47

Birdies I just saw the baby names list. We were thinking of Leo for a boy but it has gone up a lot, from 30 something to 20 something.

octanegirl · 13/08/2012 13:21

Just had the most pointless midwife appointment ever. She asked if I was fine, which I am. And that was basically it!

Birdies · 13/08/2012 13:44

Thanks squealy and bugsy, apmt not til later thus aft, argh the waiting!!

Octane think yourself lucky, mine didn't even ask if I was fine or how I was or anything at all, but I saw afterwards that she'd written 'feels fine' on the form. And the midwife I was meant to see didn't show up. Oh happy days!

newbie6 · 13/08/2012 14:15

Hi all,

Where can you find the 2012 list of baby names?

thanks

x

Birdies · 13/08/2012 14:18

Have a look on the national statistics topin in the baby name thread newbie, someone has put a link on there this morning.

bugsy Leo is a really lovely name. Outside of top 20 is still ok I think.

Birdies · 13/08/2012 14:18

Is 2011 though not 2012!

octanegirl · 13/08/2012 15:00

BRAZILIAN WAXES! Who has had these while pregnant? I normally use a trimmer and give myself a grade one, but fancy whipping it off - or will I die from pain???

DollFisher · 13/08/2012 15:21

Sorry for the delay in response, thanks for all the welcomes! My due date is 5 Jan. Excited for my scan next week but would love to have the reassurance of feeling the baby move!

This is our first child though and I have been told that you may not feel movement til later on with your first?

Realised last week I had no idea what a travel system was and then when I was told they cost almost as much as my first car (albeit a second hand one) cost I thought I was going to faint haha - £1000?? Ok so now I have to start saving!

We live in a flat - its big and only one flight of carpeted stairs up to it but am going to need a sturdy but not heavyweight pram - any recommendations?

Also, anyone going to a babyshow or can recommend it or should I not bother? Thought it might be good to get deals on baby-stuff...

:)

DollFisher · 13/08/2012 15:24

Octanegirl - I have been getting brazillian waxes for about a year and have ALMOST become immune to the pain! The last wax I had was when I was about 8 weeks pregnant and it was fine but I've not had it since because my beautician lives in Stratford and I didnt fancy fighting the tourists to get past the Olympic park!

Am very overdue though so will let you know how it goes!

bealos · 13/08/2012 16:42

Hi!

I'm new to this group, so HELLO! I've been a sporadic poster on Mumsnet since ds1, who's now 6.

I'm 16/17 weeks and due endish January. Have had a 12 week scan which was lovely.

I've been feeling movement for a few weeks - especially in the last week of lying on my tummy on the beach!! Tummy has suddenly popped out too which makes everything seem more real.

I've booked for a home birth and already had several meets at my house with a really lovely midwife. Very different to last time when I felt like a chicken on a conveyor belt!

xxx

bealos · 13/08/2012 16:45

And DollFisher - as a Londoner who's had to deal with buses, escalators and top floor flats, I'd go for a sling and a lightweight Maclaren fold up (umbrella style?) buggy. You won't regret it!

MarasmeAbsolu · 13/08/2012 17:58

Dollfisher - check ebay. I was trying to pimp my bugaboo bee with a Toro carrycot (sorry if it means nothing for those of yous who do not know the delights of the travel systems ;) )
Got myself a Micralite toro (pushchair + carrycot) - as good as new for £28 plus postage.
Will do nicely for the first couple of months before I revert to bugaboo bee (which I find too low for a newborn, even with the cosy thingy)

bealos - welcome!

Birdies · 13/08/2012 18:13

All fine at our scan, it was lovely to see her kicking about and opening her little mouth! Hoping this feeling will last now as I actually feel like buying stuff and enjoying the next 20 weeks!

Welcome bealos
