Thread 3; go!

Hello - finally joining this thread after lurking forever. I'm 40, and after an early MC last year, thought I would never get another BFP. It finally happened, after a nice holiday, while the GP was doing busy referring us for infertility investigations...

Ps spring was it you thinking about getting a bugaboo donkey too? If so apparently a better version comes out in September that will fold flat so don't order it yet!

BuntyCollocks · 10/08/2012 11:55

Thanks all!

Squealy - as am I! Will still be triple checking at our 4d scan though!

Birdies haha - do we ever relax when we're pregnant? ;)

Crafty glad you're getting your section - I couldn't fault mine, even though it was an emcs. The recovery was fine.

Midwife appt afterwards went well, too, next one in 4 weeks - loving the one 2 one midwives, as I'm getting far more care than I would have usually as a second time mum to be. Although, boo, I'll probably need to see the consultant at my hospital of choice to talk to him about my wishes for a waterbirth, and what will happen if I go overdue. Not looking forwad to that, tbh.

I love my midwife service in part because they listen and trust their patients. I do not like forced weighing and measuring, which I'm worried the consultant will do. I'd rather give my weight from my scales in the morning, after a morning constitutional so I am as light as possible than be forced on theirs.

I am a bit sensitive about my weight - I'm not a skinny minny, size 14 and 5'8 - and I'm conscious I'm not 10 stone.

Anyone else the same, or can tell me what a consultant appt usually entails?

pmgkt · 10/08/2012 13:45

Ah crafty it makes sense doesn't it. I have ny consultant week after next for second section and I am concerned they will say no. Did they give you a date? Or will that be later on.

MarasmeAbsolu · 10/08/2012 13:47

just to quickly add:
I saw consultant at the 12wk booking appointment, who was happy to recommend an ELCS on the basis of my crap experience first time round. Got a date and everything.
Very much a sensible conversation, no drama, no arguments.

Not quite what I was expecting!

CreepyCrawly · 10/08/2012 15:36

Afternoon all! And welcome to the newbies :)

I'm 100% sure I felt movement the night before last! So exciting. The only way I can describe was that it felt like a small turn of one of these type handles (Hmm) just next to my bellybutton. I've never felt anything like it before so have no doubts that it was the baby :D

Also, when I woke up this morning, I swear my stomach has doubled in size. Its huge! Although a lovely client of mine told me that I don't look pregnant, just like I'm carrying some extra weight. Thanks for that!

Hope everyone is keeping well :)

octanegirl · 10/08/2012 15:54

Haha CreepyCrawly that's so cool! I've not felt a thing yet (18 + 2) but I did have to go out and buy some maternity jeans from Gap today as my normal (albeit stretchy) Levis are now digging in uncomfortably in my tummy when I sit down. I'm still ok in all my other regular shorts/dresses etc though.
My lower tummy is getting bigger by the day - only to me though!

CreepyCrawly · 10/08/2012 16:18

Ooh what are Gap ones like? I've got some New Look ones that are ridiculously comfy. I may wear maternity jeans forever!

I got some nice 3/4 jogging bottoms from Peacocks yesterday too. They're just for lounging around the house but I don't ever want to take them off!

octanegirl · 10/08/2012 16:24

They are very nice but be aware weird American sizing! Fit really well. I'm a size 10 UK which is a 6 US. I got these: www.gap.eu/browse/product.do?cid=69513&vid=1&pid=761866

CreepyCrawly · 11/08/2012 15:50

Oh they are nice! I may have to get me some when I get paid at the end of the month.

salt1 · 11/08/2012 16:35

had home visit from midwife today, all seemed well, and managed to listen to the heart beat which was amazing considering i am not yet 16 weeks. has everyone had energy bursts yet? i am still feeling shattered most days, though i have been swimming again for the last few weeks. have a great weekend everyone x

MamaMary · 11/08/2012 17:29

salt1 I'm still shattered too - 16+2. I'm off work for a few days now so hope to start feeling a bit more energetic. I really must start swimming again too - have only been once in last month.

Most definitely feeling movements now - can't believe I didn't feel them at this stage last time round, but I guess I didn't know what they felt like?

Has anyone been watching Midwives on BBC1? I enjoyed the episode about student midwives this week. Last time round I experienced a great student and a woeful one. Not sure I can be bothered with them this time!

CreepyCrawly · 11/08/2012 17:36

No surge in energy here either and I'm 18 weeks tomorrow. Currently lying on the bed after my second nap of the day. I'm on anti-biotics for a urine infection though so they probably don't help.

salt1 · 11/08/2012 17:49

mamamary - (sorry don't know how to make this bold) - hopefully u will feel more energetic soon, especially as you will be off work.

i dont think i am feeling any movements at all.

i cannot watch any programmes about giving birth, but i may have to make myself ...

creepy - i imagine your infection is draining your energy, well done for napping

knuckingfackered · 11/08/2012 18:33

i was on my hands and knees scrubbing every floor in the house, does that constitute energy burst.
I'm usually cleaning adverse.
I'm having to use a support belt, am totally massive, bit depressing so early on.

salt1 · 11/08/2012 18:35

blimey knuckingfackered i would say that is an energy bust. also what is a support belt? x

knuckingfackered · 11/08/2012 19:16

google maternity support belt and get the sexy and glamorous jist.
Bump feels so heavy n huge just helps syop me waddling like a duck and maintain posture

Lora1982 · 11/08/2012 19:57

i think they complete the whole preggo look knucking... going to get my hands on one of those :-D

knuckingfackered · 11/08/2012 20:40

mmmm, feeling saucy........

salt1 · 11/08/2012 20:42

me too, they look like the belts weight lifters wear x

CheekyMeeky · 11/08/2012 21:36

(am due Jan 5th) with my 2nd child..when I was expecting my son ...I went to see the physio to get a support band, she gave me one and also a giant tubi-grip...like the thing ya wud wear for a sprain... It looked obscene..but the comfiest thing ever! In bed I just looked like a giant sausage!! ;)

PricklyPickle · 12/08/2012 09:15

How about this for an energy burst? I played tennis yesterday. I waddled/scampered rather than ran and everything aches today, but still I'm quite proud of myself!

salt1 · 12/08/2012 09:37

so you should be prickly, i am going (being dragged) on a 6 mile walk, oh i just cant wait x

Pascha · 12/08/2012 10:17

Hello everybody, been a while. Bunty glad your 20wk scan went well, I think Birdies is monday isn't it? Mine's tuesday and then friday for MW as I haven't seen her since 9 weeks.

I have quite a lot of energy now, but the heat takes it out of me a little. I seem to have reached a tolerance level of about 22°, any hotter and I'm melting in the shade. Not sure I would manage tennis Prickly but I have been swimming a fair amount and done the flume on my back complete with 23mth old assuming the superman position on my tummy and 19 week Widget in my tummy Grin

6 miles salt? Bugger that for a lark!

Pascha · 12/08/2012 10:20

Now: I am (reluctantly) selling my Babyjogger city mini as I have no use for it anymore Sad its going on eBay tonight. Thought I would give you lot first dibs though so if any of you are interested then I will happily chat via PM.

Have a good day everyone.

salt1 · 12/08/2012 10:35

pascha - i cant remember if you said where about u are in the uk? x
