Thread 3; go!

Hello - finally joining this thread after lurking forever. I'm 40, and after an early MC last year, thought I would never get another BFP. It finally happened, after a nice holiday, while the GP was doing busy referring us for infertility investigations...

I'm with you Lora - men hmmmph! I'm peeved with my DP also, I feel like I have to do EVERYTHING and he waltzes in from work without a care in the world and just doesn't get why I'm stressed out! Firstly, I'm insulin controlled diabetic so have to test my blood sugars about 10 times a day to make sure they are good so they don't affect baby which is pretty stressful, I run my own business and its been really busy recently which is good but very stressful as everyone seems to want a piece of me, on top of that I had my VAT returns to do, I'm trying to project manage 2 building extensions being done at home where I also work, dealing with all the household finances as said DP is useless at it and looking after 2 dogs, oh yes and my broadband has been playing up so have been fighting with BT for the past 3 months to get that sorted. Also - my DP wanted a picture so I did loads of research on top of everything else to get it for him which I managed (it arrived today) and I am now so pissed off, I haven't even told him.

Okay rant over :) I just wish someone could give me the day off and my blackberry didn't get a signal!

I sooooo wish I could drink right now!

x

Lora just read your post to DH and he said if you'd like to come here and do some plastering he will give you an unlimited supply of tea and biscuits, make you dinner and run your bath!!! Grin
He said to tell your DP how much a plasterer would have cost - a few cups of tea and dinner are a small price to pay!

Lora1982 · 08/08/2012 19:00

lolZ he'll get payback. i think i need to actually tell him when i want something.. i just said ugh im exhausted n he offered to make me a bath... but ive already made it pffft.

least i can sit n be smug that females are the superia sex and il make sure everyone knows i did it all myself :-D

eleda · 08/08/2012 19:07

Wow! You really are a saint!

godzookey · 08/08/2012 19:36

hi all,
Been a while since i've posted - i wanted to ask those who have been experiencing 'cramps' if they still are - i've been getting them, quite strong, but only in the afternoons. To me they feel like strong period pain but kinda knocked me for six when they started ( last Saturday pm when i was at the hairdressers with a load of foils in my hair)

Anyway, since then, i've been getting them pretty much most afternoons and wondered if those ladies who are getting them, are getting them that regularly?

I'm now 17 weeks and don't think i look pregnant, just fat sadly! I can just about fit into my normal sized dresses and loose skirts but trousers are starting to be a bit of a problem.

Another question for you, a friend of mine who has 3 kids has offered, I think kindly, to sell us a load of her old baby gear - DH on the other hand think she has a nerve, given that we're good friends so does she really need to charge us £1 for a baby bath etc? He feels for such a little amount, she may as well just give it to us, i think it's fine myself, why shouldn't she make a bit of dosh - what do you all think??

pmgkt · 08/08/2012 20:19

Why shouldn't she have some money, if you didn't have it then she would sell it and get some. And if you buy it, you can sell it after and get the money back anyway. It would be unfair for her to give it to you and then you make money after. I have bought mat clothes of my friend, she had some money and I have cheap clothes, everyone wins.

preggofabulous · 09/08/2012 09:58

Hi all,

I agree with pmgkt, i don't see any problem with a small charge. I mean, £1 for a baby bath isnt going to break the bank is it?

I also still get crampy feeling most days. I find it rather annoying as I thought getting rid of all things period related was a bonus of pregnancy, so still having to deal with cramps doesnt seem fair!

Tugstonia - I have fine hair sprouting on my tummy too. Not entirely sure what to make of it, and my skin is absolutely awful. keep getting spots, and keep finding dry patches all over the place.

Tugstonia · 09/08/2012 11:58

godz I agree that it's fine for your friend to make a bit of money selling her stuff. You can always sell it on afterwards. My sister's given me piles and piles of stuff - car seat, baby clothes, maternity clothes and more, and I'm giving her money for them because she'd sell them on ebay otherwise. Re cramps I tend to get mine later on in the day too. Sometimes they're achey, other times stabbing pains. Midwife said it's my abdominal muscles tearing as the baby grows - nice! I seem to get them for a few days then they go away. Also get very achey around my tummy and back if I sit for too long.

preggo DP offered me use of his electric razor to get rid of the belly rug the other day! I declined... Re skin, doc gave me some antibiotic lotion to put on it but it smelt so chemical-y I didn't end up using it, even though it's supposed to be safe to use during pregnancy. Just trying to be really gentle with my skin and get it in the sunshine as much as poss. Hopefully the spotty hormones will settle down soon!

theboutiquemummy · 09/08/2012 12:45

godz I agree pay her why not your DH is being a bit tight

Just back from the consultant looks like my water birth is out had few tears in the car on the way home DH was driving like a lunatic didn't even notice

On the plus side consultant was a nice woman and I got to see my little trump again all happy like in my tummy Smile

pmgkt · 09/08/2012 12:47

Why is the water birth out? If its ok to ask.

theboutiquemummy · 09/08/2012 13:54

Its likely I'll need to be to be prepped for blood trans or surgery after the birth water makes it more difficult Sad

Birdies · 09/08/2012 13:57

Let us know how scan goes today bunty! That's the first of the 20 week scans of everyone here I think. Got mine on Monday, can't wait :)

BuntyCollocks · 09/08/2012 14:06

Will do! Currently cacking myself and imagining all sorts - tummy bug I have is pre-term labour, the copious vast large amount of discharge (which is definitely discharge) is my waters ... can't wait to see baby and be told I'm a pillock! Blush

theboutiquemummy · 09/08/2012 14:12

Fingers crossed for you bunty

SquealyB · 09/08/2012 15:53

Good luck bunty I'm sure it will be grand but no doubt I will be worrying too when it is my turn!

Sorry about the water birth boutique. That is a shame but at least consultant is l

SquealyB · 09/08/2012 15:55

Darn phone was still posting....

Meant to say at least consultant was very nice and looking out for you and baby and better to find out now I suppose. Still v disappointing though.

godz I agree with previous posters providing it is a small amount of cash I don't see there being an issue there unless she is a millionaire then I might be a bit miffed !

BuntyCollocks · 09/08/2012 18:37

All perfect! She is still a she, and perfectly healthy, a little madam though! Phew - relief! :) good luck Monday, birdies!

Great news bunty. Glad to hear the gender scan was all correct and she is doing well.

Birdies · 09/08/2012 19:48

Thanks bunty! And great news about your scan, you can relax now!!

CraftyGirly · 09/08/2012 20:07

glad your scan went well bunty!

I had a consultants appointment this morning and I'm so relieved they have agreed that I can have a c-section Smile I was really panicking that they would say no and dismiss my concerns, but luckily they didnt take much persuading! feel like a huge weight has been lifted and I can finally relax and enjoy the rest of my pregnancy!

pmgkt · 10/08/2012 07:21

Crafty I think you may have previously said but why a section.

CraftyGirly · 10/08/2012 09:50

pmgkt I have/had a condition called Vestibulitis which was successfully operated on last year, however it caused me severe depression for many years as a lot of doctors told me it was psychological and all in my head, it took me 7 years to finally see someone who recognized there was a geniune problem and I wasnt just imagining it.

therefore I am extremely scared if I gave birth naturally my condition could return and I'd be back to square 1 - the last thing I want to risk with a new baby to look after is getting badly depressed again. I explained all this to them and they agreed that provided I understood all the the risks attached to a C-section and was OK with those, then they would perform one to avoid any vaginal damage and risk of my depression returning for this reason.

Birdies · 10/08/2012 11:47

crafty that's great that they listened to you and you've been able to book in for the birth you would like - you must be so relieved!
