Thread 3; go!

Hello - finally joining this thread after lurking forever. I'm 40, and after an early MC last year, thought I would never get another BFP. It finally happened, after a nice holiday, while the GP was doing busy referring us for infertility investigations...

doigetastickerforthat Blush I'm trying to focus on that stupid stupid hormones

theboutiquemummy · 07/08/2012 10:34

happyhow any chance you can change the appointment ?

SquealyB · 07/08/2012 11:48

Oh happyhow that is rubbish.....if you explain the situation to the hospital you might get a sympathetic ear and perhaps they can change the appointment.

mrsbugsywugsy · 07/08/2012 13:05

Happynow I agree with boutique and squealy, I am sure the hospital can rearrange your scan. I had to change the original date they gave me because I will be on holiday. You could even tell a little white lie and say that you are unable to make it on that date?

boutique I am another one who thinks that horoscopes are nonsense. At best they are harmless fun but it sounds like this is upsetting you, so please don't let it. For one thing, one in 12 people share your star sign, hopefully one twelfth of the world's population aren't going to have terrible news in the last week of August? Smile

Some DP-related moans from me too...mine has a cold and as usual thinks that the world is ending and he needs to be waited on hand and foot. Meanwhile I have the same cold and the usual pregnancy gripes yet I have to carry on as normal....grrrr!

MamaMary · 07/08/2012 21:35

I think I'm starting to feel movements...But I'm not sure. Keep thinking maybe it's just wind.

Like last time, it seems to kick off as soon as I eat something sugary or sweet though I could be wrong

SquealyB · 07/08/2012 21:42

mrsbugsy that is because he obviously must have the flu.... Wink

octanegirl · 08/08/2012 07:56

I'm 18 weeks today and there is a definite rounding of my lower abdomen now. I notice it when I'm lying flat. Not enough for the outside world to notice but I know it's there :)

happyhow · 08/08/2012 08:32

I suggested trying to rearrange the appointment but he thinks he might not have to go. He's certainly doing his hardest to get out of it!!

MarasmeAbsolu · 08/08/2012 09:14

Mama - at the gender scan, the baby would not move or uncross its legs - the sonographer told me off for not having eaten that day yet (too busy at work) saying that low blood sugar makes for sleepy baby... which kind of makes sense!
I'll make sure I'll have a big Mars bar next time!

preggofabulous · 08/08/2012 09:48

Hello, just found this thread (quite new to mumsnet) can i join? I'm due the 22nd of January 2013, so 16 weeks yesterday. Im 30 and this is my first little cherub.

Started feeling weird vibrations on Saturday, and felt it twice more since. have been reliably informed by other mumsnetters that its the baby! very excited x

newbie6 · 08/08/2012 11:00

hello preggofabulous and welcome to the January 2013 club - everyone on here is lovely so sure you will enjoy it!

I am due on the 22nd too, I'm 36 and this will be first baby also so all very scary and exciting! I'm diabetic so although my due date is 22nd Jan, they tend to induce you 2 weeks early so hoping I will have my bambino about 8-10th Jan.

How have you been feeling? Hope you are keeping well. I have felt sensations in my stomach but not sure if it is because I am full up or just wind, ha ha! Are you showing yet? I'm not too bad but definitely have a small bump now :)

x

preggofabulous · 08/08/2012 11:11

Hi Newbie6! I felt awful for the first 3 months, but its eased off in the last few weeks. finding sleeping a nightmare tho, keep waking up through the night. i suppose its good practive tho.

I'm showing a little, but probably just because im usually very slim, so even the slightest bump seems to be obvious to everyone around me. personally i think i just look like i ate a big lunch!

how was your 12 week scan? I was a nervous wreck but ended up laughing all the way through cause the baby wouldn't play ball with the sonographer. kept standing on its head x

SquealyB · 08/08/2012 12:47

Hi preggo and welcome!

I've just got back from my 16w midwife appointment and got to hear the heart beat Grin. Laughed and the burst into tears..... I have no dignity or restraint. It is all so wonderful and amazing to think that there us a little person in there! I struggle to get my head around it sometimes.

I am pretty sure I am feeling movements too which is so exciting. Officially too fat pregnant for my skinny jeans now. Good to hear others are feeling it a bit too.

newbie6 · 08/08/2012 14:10

Hi preggofabulous - glad to hear your scan went well. I had a bit of a nightmare with my 12w scan in that I opted for the nuchal test etc and we came back 1 in 7 of a chromosome problem so we decided to have a CVS which thankfully came back all clear so very relieved but was quite an anxious time, everyone on hear were great and it really helped me through it.

Like you, I'm slim so am still getting away with it but just feel in the last day or so I have grown so am maybe just very conscious of it but to be honest I don't mind it :)

Have a bit of a sore belly today, not cramps but sometimes jaggy pains like a stitch??? Not sure if that is movement or normal as this is my first - hoping it is either my muscles stretching or its my little bambino saying hello!

x

happyhow · 08/08/2012 14:27

I'm getting those stitch like pains too. Had a few yesterday and a couple today. I presumed it was down to everything stretching?

I decided I didn't feel the baby last week - haven't felt anything else since. I'm keeping a look out for it though!!

Have been getting great news this week with the exam results coming out in Scotland. As a teacher, it's the best set of results my pupils have ever produced! Really pleased and proud of them all.

happyhow · 08/08/2012 14:28

Oh, and welcome Preggo!

preggofabulous · 08/08/2012 14:43

Hi happyhow, and SquealyB! I've been getting the stitch pains too. I googled it (im obsessively googling everything, it has to stop before i go mad), and it just said it was the ligaments and everything stretching out.

Feel squished mainly, like my insides no longer have any room and backache. It doesnt bode well for the next five months Smile

strawberrybubblegum · 08/08/2012 14:46

Hello, can I join the thread as well please? I've been reading, but it would be nice to join properly :)

I'm 37, and this is number one for me - due 26th January.

newbie6 · 08/08/2012 15:05

thanks all - you have reassured me as wasn't sure if these stitch like pains/aches were normal at 16 weeks+ 1. Have my first ante natal class on Friday for 'Early Pregnancy' - who knows what will happen!
Congrats on your results happyhow, I used to be a modern studies teacher and remember feeling so proud of my pupils when they did well!
Welcome also to strawberrybubblegum - hope you have a happy pregnancy and that you are keeping well. x

Tugstonia · 08/08/2012 15:30

Welcome preggo and strawberry!

I'm 16+5 and have been getting those pains as well and reckon they are down to stretching judging by the growth spurt my belly has had recently Smile

I also have a furry tummy - loads of fine hair seems to have sprouted in the last few days. Anyone else got that?! And my skin is still hideous. Still waiting for the 'glowing' stage...

Birdies · 08/08/2012 15:45

Welcome to prego and Strawberry!

Yes they are just ligament stretching pains, all normal I think.

tugs someone else on here said they have a belly rug so you're not the only one lol!

SpringFlowers · 08/08/2012 16:32

Hi Everyone! It's ages since I last posted, I'm glad that most people are starting to feel better now. My horrid nausea has finally passed and I only feel sick if I get hungry. As this is my fourth baby I have a lovely bump, neat so far but totally unmistakeable. I have been feeling the baby move for a while now too which is nice. It was really reassuring to hear the heartbeat at my 16 week appointment last week. I have finally stopped bleeding - in the end I bled everyday for fifteen weeks which was really stressful. With my previous pregnancies we found out if we were having a boy or girl but this time we are having a surprise. If it's a boy we are short of both clothes and names! I am a little envious of everyone starting to buy stuff, we hardly need a thing this time, there is nothing as lovely as shopping for a baby Smile. Anyway, welcome to the newbies and I hope everyone is having a lovely Wednesday!

Lora1982 · 08/08/2012 17:29

ok warning im gonna rant. ive just finished plastering the walls of the nursery... dp was on his xbox... i came down every so often cos i am 18 wks preggas and i was exhausted. on one occasion i was asked am i relaxed and having fun!!!?!?! not once was i offered tea or anything i had to make my own. now im sat here with a face like a slapped arse waiting for the water to be ready to make a bath which i will no doubt be making myself. am i being over dramatic and moody or is he just a useless lazy fuk?

SquealyB · 08/08/2012 17:43

Rant entirely justified Lora.

May I suggest dunking DP in the bath once it has been run or at least splashing him Wink?

Seriously though.....I think you are entirely justified and should tell him to get off his bum and help (or at least cook you some dinner for after the bath!).

eleda · 08/08/2012 17:54

You were plastering?!?!?!? oh my word!!!! Well done! Quite a skill you've got there! So DP was on the xbox while you were working your pregnant backside off? Why didn't you say at the time, aren't you helping? How can you not have said something when he asked if you were having fun?! I'm amazed you're just sitting there with a face like a slapped arse, I'd have ranted at him rather than controlled myself and done it on MN! In fact, my DH would have been lucky to have got away without some serious injury!! You are a saint!!!
I hope you make it perfectly clear that he'll be doing the painting - mist coat, undercoat, topcoat - the lot!!!
And while he's doing that, you will be relaxing and growing that little baby of both of yours!
Wow!! I hope you tell him how useless and lazy he is!

So, on a lighter note - welcome strawberry and preggo!! And squealy, that sounds lovely! I see the midwife on Friday - can't wait, I'll be 18 weeks so looking forward to hearing little spud!
