Thread 3; go!

Hello - finally joining this thread after lurking forever. I'm 40, and after an early MC last year, thought I would never get another BFP. It finally happened, after a nice holiday, while the GP was doing busy referring us for infertility investigations...

Agree re: the medela swing, lansinoh (have some in your bag for hospital - if baby has a tongue tie and cuts your nips to shreds you'll appreciate it!) and the breast shells. I have 'shy' nips that require coaxing to attention for a newborn - older baby had no problem - and breast shells not only collected milk, but also meant the nipples were in the correct shape for a latch. The things you don't know about breastfeeding until you experience them or someone tells you!

knucking medela do one. Don't know the name though.

Birdies · 06/08/2012 12:27

bunty is that the breast shields or something else? I have flat nips too and breastfeeding was so painful last time.

Someone also mentioned it's hard breastfeeding when you have a toddler too - does anyone have experience of that? My DD will be 18 months when DD2 is born.

pmgkt · 06/08/2012 12:37

I have just bought some over the bump boot cut jeans from next. Lots if people have slated next but they are the most comfortable jeans I have ever bought. I have a few under bump pairs off a friend and can't get them to stay up properly.

happyhow · 06/08/2012 13:24

I've got over the bump bootcut jeans from new look and like you, they are the comfiest jeans ever!! Fit really well on the legs and bum too and were only £15.99.

Complicated24 · 06/08/2012 13:56

Hi all, I am 18 weeks today and have been feeling exhausted all weekend and was feeling quite sick yesterday and today. My tummy got noticeably bigger overnight so am thinking the baby is on a growth spurt which is making me feel tired and sick. That awful extreme exhaustion and nausea you have in first trimester. Is anyone else feeling like that? Not sure whether I should be worried or whether it's normal.

pmgkt I love over the bump jeans too. I bought a pair from JojoMamanBebe and they are so comfy. I bought another pair of under the bump trousers but they keep on falling down too. I need to buy a load of Summer maternity clothes as we are going on a beach holiday at end of September. Problem is shops are all stocking winter clothes now. Any suggestions on good maternity websites?

allchik · 06/08/2012 13:59

ASOS has lots of nice summer dresses in the sale...wish I was going on abroad, this weathers wank!x

theboutiquemummy · 06/08/2012 14:17

Complicated24 I have been the bump is def on a growth spurt

Anyone have really irrational is everything going to be ok feelings I've been in tears today cause I read in DH stars ( i know i know why am i reading that shit for) "last week in august first week in september that some things just weren't meant to be" I freaked our 20 wk scan is 30th August what a silly cow

Hormonalhell · 06/08/2012 14:22

Yes Boutiquemummy i'm having those feelings toobut mine are more if i sill cope on my own. Had my exh with other two.

My scan is 29th august, cant wait Smile

BuntyCollocks · 06/08/2012 14:26

birdies the breast shields. Although the ones you need are the nipple formers. Worth every penny. I also got a lansinoh vacuum ... thing, that you could pop on your nipple, squeeze the bulb, and it had the same effect. Lansinoh latch assist

Bless you, boutique, I get worried about stuff like that, too - hormones have a lot to answer for!

Brugmansia · 06/08/2012 15:09

I'm slightly earlier, 14+5, but am still feeling exhausted. I haven't really felt sick, but instead have constant low level fatigue even though I'm sleeping loads. I don't know whether it may be exacerbated by lack of exercise though. I've barely done any for the past 3 months and my day to day activity has been less too as I've been so tired so taking lazy options, such as bus rather than walking. I'm going to try and be more active but it's difficult when I'm already knackered.

newbie6 · 06/08/2012 15:33

Hi all,

Am feeling really tired and emotional today - am very busy at work with clients stressing me out which probably isn't helping! I work for myself so think am stressing about that too :(

Wish they would all just go away and give me peace, hee hee!

On a positive, have ordered our nursery decor so very excited about that and just need to order the furniture now. Have decided to wait till our 20 week scan till I buy any baby clothes so only another 3 and a bit weeks to wait...I'm sooo impatient!

Have noticed when I have been looking that there seems to be various sizes for newborns - how do you know what size to buy?? Do you need to wait till nearer your due date so the scans can give you a better idea what size your baby will be? All very confusing or maybe I'm just stupid which given my current state of mind is a high probability.

Would love to find a warm, sandy beach right now with turquoise seas where you don't get a blackberry signal and my life would be bliss :)

Hope everyone else is well!

xx

SquealyB · 06/08/2012 15:58

Hi all

Tired and emotional seems to be the order of the day. Low level fatigue continues to an ever present companion although I finally managed to get my butt down the pool today for some exercise.

I have a massive row with my DH on Saturday night about his getting drunk and being generally irresponsible. Although I do believe my position was justified, I managed to get myself all worked up about the whole thing and was a crying mess. Oh the joys!

I don't know about you ladies but DH doesn't really see himself as a "parent" yet and I suppose I see myself as a mum already (although the baby still has a fair amount of cooking time left!) and I guess this causes some tensions. Is anyone else having DC1 and in a similar boat? Please tell me something changes after the birth and that I will not have two "children" come January.... Wink

Complicated24 · 06/08/2012 16:18

SquealyB and theBoutiqueMummy you are not alone. I too am paranoid. DH is getting really fed up with me so must click out of it. He is working mega long hours at moment due to Olympics (every weekend), so hardly see him and when I do have saved up loads of stuff I need to talk about about when all he wants to do is eat and sleep. I do try and time it right, but there are some things you do have to discuss. Like SquealyB he doesn't yet see himself as a parent and thinks life can carry on as normal (which it can for him) whereas I have already made significant changes to my life. We are planning a two week holiday abroad end of September which I am really looking forward to and know we both need as need some us time, but I am worried about being so far away from a hospital in case anything happens. I will be 25-26 wks then. DH thinks I am being totally paranoid as will still be legally allowed to fly without Dr's note then. I suppose I already feel like a mother whereas DH thinks this is our last holiday with just two of us so should make most of it. He is right I think but my paranoia gets in way!

Brugmansia · 06/08/2012 16:51

I've been slightly encouraging DP recently to go out with his friends and get drunk as it means I can have a quiet evening slumped on the sofa eating pizza watching whatever I like on TV. DP hasn't been particularly understanding about how tired I am though, so keeps trying to get me to go out.

Birdies · 06/08/2012 16:59

Thanks bunty I will stock up on all those things.

I'm also paranoid. After feeling 4 kicks haven't felt much if anything since then (a few days ago) but bump has grown so I spose that's reasurring. I just want the 20 week scan over and done with, then I feel I might be able to relax a bit .

I've also felt sick, tired and quite emotional today. Every time someone wins at the Olympics I cry. Also I've got not oomph to get off my arse and do anything. Well, I do have DD1 to look after but there's so many other things I should be doing as well :(

Squealy I think it feels much more real for us mums so very normal DH not seeming as interested as us. I've come up with lots of names and DH none so far. But once that baby arrives, he'll be as in love with him/her as you!

PipIsOutNow · 06/08/2012 17:05

Just noticed my age isn't on the list - I'm 27 :)

How is everyone? Any movements yet? I have my private gender scan in 2 weeks I'm so excited to find out if it's a blue or a pink one!!!

I'm 14+4 today. Really hate this inbetween stage...I know il relax a lot once I can feel baby moving and once I get the 20 week scan out of the way. I'm do much more nervous and anxious with this preg than I was on ds!!! Anyone else feeling the same?

BuntyCollocks · 06/08/2012 18:41

pip I've had a few random kicks (I think), but hard to tell as I have an anterior placenta this time. I'm also a lot more worried this time, which is saying something as I was a freak with ds as well! I'm terrified all the time - not nice.

Ds pushed hard on my lower tum earlier when I was lying down, and I've just had a reassurance google to make sure no harm could be caused, when rationally I know it'll all be fine Blush

theboutiquemummy · 06/08/2012 19:08

In a funny way im pleased im not the only hormone induced paranoid around but ive just seen that Gary Barlow's little girl was still born cue huge water works I hope this buggers off soon

DoIgetastickerforthat · 06/08/2012 19:40

Oh boutique I just had to run to the loo and have a bit of a cry about the Barlow baby. Had to hide it from DS2 as he's hyper sensitive about something happening to our baby as his little pals mum had a stillborn baby last year and it's something that crops
up in convo's quite often and it requires a lot of truthful reassurance, which I didn't feel up to. The poor Barlow family, I feel awful for them.

But you do know horoscopes are a load of old bobbins don't you? They're probably not even written by frustrated novelist who are trying to pay the rent anymore, but computer generated and have NO reference to your pregnancy! Scolding over, as you were. Thanks

happyhow · 06/08/2012 21:38

I've been fine with my sensitivity to situations but my hubby has just told me that he may be working offshore at our 20 week scan Sad. Not feeling so great now. Visiting my mum too so have been told over text.

happyhow · 06/08/2012 21:39

Oh, and the complete bugger of the situation is that he'll either get back that day (but not in time for the scan) or the day after.
