Bellaboo123 · 30/07/2012 21:24

Thanks for the recommendation spotty I was going to go for the medela...the reviews look good on the ones you suggested Smile

Willyoudothefandango · 30/07/2012 21:25

Pmgkt - it's always in the car isn't it?

EggsMichelle · 30/07/2012 21:25

Hairy belly is the least of my worries, I have downy fur EVERYWHERE!!!! Its even on my neck. Plus where I had thick hair has spread even further (Gross, need to wax). Willy (your name makes me giggle!) I've had chin hair since I was 18, nothing a close eye and some tweezers can't manage.

I only got a couple of stretch marks when I was a teenager, and they faded instantly, does this bode well for me not getting stretch marks in pregnancy? or is the growth speed just too epic to predict stretch marks?

Mummycox I bit the bullet and bought some Leicester Tigers bibs, sleepsuit and hat... get my boy supporting rugby nice and early!

Been at a wedding all afternoon, debuted the baby bump to some old colleagues who didn't know I was pregnant which was good run and ate a lot of carrot cake, yummy!

EggsMichelle · 30/07/2012 21:29

pmgkt my hairs also come out of my scar (feel over repeatedly as a child) I hate touching the scar so plucking the hairs are torture!

HoneyMum21 · 30/07/2012 21:30

Someone i used to work with insisted on rubbing my bump today Angry and had the nerve to say 'you can be proud of being fat when you're pregnant'. i'm not sure if she just meant the bump or meant i looked fatter in general. but she knows i don't cope well with comments like that. grrrr.

ellliebelle · 30/07/2012 21:31

Mydaydream thanks im sure we will sort things out its just really strange we havent so much fallen out no arguing or anytjing we just arent really speaking for no specific reason which kind of makes it more difficult to fix :( had a good chat tonight and ive cried although still not sure things are sorted

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 30/07/2012 21:41

cookies with dd I got loads of stretch marks, with DS they didn't seem to increase tbh but they seemed to re-stretch. I can't see me getting more this time but tbh the amount I have I'm never showing my stomach in public again anyway so its not worth me trying to remember to oil/cream every day! I'm useless at that sort of stuff!

SpottyTeacakes · 30/07/2012 21:51

Sorry to hear that ellie there's lots going on at the moment it's quite overwhelming and can do funny things to us.

I didn't get stretch marks until about 34 weeks last time. My poor sister had massive ones literally about eight like tiger stripes!

HoneyMum21 · 30/07/2012 21:53

Spotty thanks for the recommend on the breastpump - i'm totally confused about pumps re the whole open/closed collection thing. How do you find out what kind they are as it doesn't seem to tell you anywhere? or am i being really stupid? Also, if anyone has used it does it really fit most bottles?

I was thinking about getting the Avent electric pump but the Spectra looks really good. I'm so confused. Over to the review board i think...

lauraloo09 · 30/07/2012 21:55

Hi everyone just thought I'd pop on to say I hope everyone is well and been great to hear about the scans :)
Found out I'm having another girl so excited and name chosen already (Olivia) my DD is so excited. Having hip and pelvis problems :( got physio tomorrow here's hoping they can do something for me. Still doing aquanatal and karate so hoping its just baby lying on a nerve x

Willyoudothefandango · 30/07/2012 21:56

Eggs I immediately stormed in and attacked chin with a wax strip and the tweezers. I am too young for a beard!

SpottyTeacakes · 30/07/2012 22:10

Honey I don't think it matters if it's open if you're buying it new. It says it fits Avent bottles but I'll probably just tip it into whatever I'm going to use.

My sister is part of all the bf/ap/parenting groups and it was someone she knows who recommended it. I suppose also it depends on whether you'll be expressing a lot or just occasionally

ISpyJumpHigh · 30/07/2012 22:15

Congratulations Cherry,Cod and Lauraloo. Welcome 4Mrs.

HoneyMum21 · 30/07/2012 22:16

THanks Spotty - im jsut worried as ive been reading that mold can build up in the motor of open systems and contaminate breastmilk Confused i really am clueless

JoJoB77 · 30/07/2012 22:19

Evenin' all

Im back home after an evening at A&E with DD Sad. She fell and bumped her head on saturday morning at her grandparents, smack bang onto the concrete floor. She was ok saturday but not herself yesterday nor today so just got checked out. All is ok thankfully. Doc said she has a red throat so she may be coming down with something. I'm so relieved tho & glad i took her.

Sorry for the ramble Blush.

On a lighter note, i have several chin hairs that sprout regularly. I'm starting to become hairier than DH Blush

ellie just keep trying to talk, me and DP have them and just get everything off our chests and while we might get annoyed/upset at least the next day it's been said and we can work towards fixing things.
laura congratulations on your scan, Olivia is a really pretty name. Congratulations to everyone else who's had a scan recently too, so many going on. A week tomorrow for mine.
Breast pumps are really confusing me, I don't even know if I need one or not. I plan to BF, but I'm also going to be a SAHM so will I need one? I don't really want to waste my money.

OlympiaMumsnet · 30/07/2012 23:24

Olivia is a GREAT name Grin
Best of luck, y'all

SpottyTeacakes · 31/07/2012 06:41

Oh JoJo you definitely did the right thing taking her, glad she is ok Smile

Well, yes mould can build up, that was the problem with the medela swing. They haven't been withdrawn though its just not recommended you use anyone else's. I will ask my sister to ask her friend if she knows Smile

If you're not sure if you want to express I wouldn't buy a pump. My dc will 99% likely be in SCBU do that's why I want one and I'm quite sure that I will want dp to give the odd expressed bottle once bf is established. Maybe you could hire one once the baby is born and try it out if you think you might want one? Remember some people can't express either. Once you start weaning you might want to use expressed milk then.

Sorry for long ramble Blush any scans today?

Equimum · 31/07/2012 07:10

Jojo glad your little one iss okay

eggs I'm another one who seems to be growing a fine fur coat Confused. My belly has so much downy white hair I'm beginning to look a bit like my white pet rabbit (only minimal exaggeration required! Grin)

Congrats on all the good scan news, and good luck for anyone about to have one. Still suffering scan envy as our's isn't 'til next week! Envy

Is anyone else wavering between worrying their bump is too small/ not growing to worrying that's it's growing too much?! Crazy I know, but I freak I'm exploding when my clothes don't fit but worry there's no growth when I look in the mirror!

SpottyTeacakes · 31/07/2012 07:33

Honey have just looked and the Spectra 3 doesn't have a closed system but you can buy a filter for £5 which stops any back flow. The Spectra 7 does have a closed filter and is £90.

NaomiRuth · 31/07/2012 07:50

Bellaboo I'm in the Bishops Stortford area, how about you?

JoJo glad your DD is ok, at least you got her checked over.

Hope everyone has a good day.

HoneyMum21 · 31/07/2012 08:55

Thanks spotty- you're very good at all this!

gilsbubbles · 31/07/2012 08:57

I'm totally confused about breast pumps too, there seems to be too much choice. If I go for a particular brands am I tying myself to their bottles and sterilizer etc. or are most things interchangable?

I started a wish list on the mothercare web site as way to keep of all the things I need and it's scary how fast it's growing.

Country me in on the hairy belly team, also my bikini waxing is turning into a major time commitment. But since it's more landfill than ever before I think I 'll give in to the crazy hormones.

My feet seem to be doing something weird too, old comfy favorite shoes all tight and rubbing.

Oh the joys of pregnancy

SpottyTeacakes · 31/07/2012 09:08

gils you can put the expressed milk into storage pots/bags and then use whichever bottles you like.

My ankles/feet are huge by the end of the day, especially last week when it was hot!

Bikini line?? What's that?!
