I cant rememver who said about waiting for breast pump if your bot sure about expressing but i would second that. With dd2 i managed to hire one from my local baby cafe for the wgole time i wanted to express.

spotty was it you that said baby is likely to be in scbu? On phone so sorry if i missed this but just wondered if you minded me asking how you know this? X

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 31/07/2012 09:46

Oh just a quick 1 for those cheese obsessed did you know we can eat Stilton?! I found out yest on the NHS website! I haven't been eating it for breakfast honest

itsMYNutella · 31/07/2012 09:55

Bleurgh stilton? Thanks Stacey... good to know :o
Although perhaps if someone was to make me a steak wellington with some stilton in... but couldn't have a rare-medium steak still :(

Very interested in the breast pump discussion. But I'm going to see how breast feeding goes and then look into it I think... it would be nice for DP to take part in feeding but I remember my Mum saying that what she experienced (with boys) was that they were feeding for what seemed like hours and so the thought of then trying to pump between feeds was just too much hassle.

I've found my skin has become extra sensitive at the mo so waxing is currently out for me too... not that I have any really reason to worry about it really....

4MrsCoyle5 · 31/07/2012 09:59

CODwidow · 31/07/2012 11:15

Total shock to the system, I have no idea what to do with girls and pink! But did feel the need to go and buy a pink hat last nightBlush the boys were so pleased to have a sister Smile

I also have a feeling I won't need to buy any clothes myself as everyone is going to go crazy on my behalf !

Although the breast pump is tempting so that dh can help, I've always found that my babies feed so often anyway I don't know where I'd fit in expressing and I always felt whilst I expressed that I may as well just feed.

My sonographer was so lovely yesterday she went through everything with us and gave us lots of time which was nice as ds3 came with us with my mum so he got to see baby.

SpottyTeacakes · 31/07/2012 12:35

ellie I'm diabetic so baby will most likely have trouble regulating sugar levels when born and also maybe other things depending on how early they are. Dd was in for nine days

JoJoB77 · 31/07/2012 12:43

I totally forgot to say congrats to COD, wonderful news! I can tell from your posts how excited you are!

Also, welcome to 4Mrs

Scan on Friday - wooooop! Grin

Bellaboo123 · 31/07/2012 12:54

naomiruth I'm in Cheshunt! Not that far...just near the Brookfield centre.

Breast pumps now I'm totally confused what's a closed thingy??? Omg you need a degree for all this stuff!

pmgkt · 31/07/2012 13:38

With ds1 I bf him, and that was fine, however when it came to expressing I could do it for half hour and not even get one ounce, however dh did want to get involved so we agreed that after about a month he would do the bedtime feed with formula. It did mean they had cuddle time, ds got used to a bottle and formula, and I had well stocked supply for the night feed. Everyone happy. As a side point my friend was a lone parent and bf, never had a need to bottlefeed until she had a wedding one weekend which there were ni kids invites so her mum had her baby. He wouldn't take a bottle and she ended up spoon feeding him constantly when awake to get him fed. Nightmare. Personally I think it is a great idea to give the odd bottle, and formula just in case, you never know what might happen and it was a huge stress for my friend. I know some people may shoot me down for saying it but I will be doing the same again this time.

FriendofDorothy · 31/07/2012 13:43

My sister has just sent me a list of everything she has for me... I have to pay for a few things but it looks like we will get the lot for less than £200... including....

A Phil and Ted's buggy with all the accessories, a Baby Bjorn carrier, high chair, cot, mattress, Car seat, loads of toys, clothes, breast pump, steriliser etc.

It's brilliant for us as we are trying to buy an extortionately expensive house (welcome to Guernsey!) so to get all the stuff cheap is fabulous!

2blessed · 31/07/2012 13:45

Congratulations COD another female in your household!
Think I'm also going to hold on buying a breast pump. Very interested in the comments about each one. Sooo much to think about. Think I really need to start thinking about which travel system. Really want to try them out in terms of folding/opening before I get too big to know what I'm confortable with.
Welcome 4Mrs
Hope everyone's having a good day Smile

lauraloo09 · 31/07/2012 16:03

afternoon all hope you are all keeping well.

cod congratulations on your wee girl you sound over the moon!!

Well just back from physio and she has advised I have SPD she was going to give me a tubigrip for my tummy but i remember that being very uncomfortable and didnt seem to help the last time i was pg just felt as if baby was being squashed. She has given me some damage limitation exercises and instructions to follow and advised that I may require crutches seen as I am already using DD's buggy as a support when I am out. She did offer me crutches today but I said i would try the exercises first, not only that couldnt imagine what the next 19/18 weeks would have been like with crutches...should I have taken them now? I have to call her as soon as I feel the pain/discomfort getting worse

kate2boysandabump · 31/07/2012 18:17

4Mrs Welcome and congratulations!

COD WOW!!! I can tell from your posts that you're still in shock. Your having perhaps the most overprotected little girl ever...4 big brothers Grin

I noticed my first chin hair the other day, but that could be my age. The rest of me isn't as hairy as with the previous 2, with ds1 I was embarrassed about how hairy my tummy was Blush

I had a breast pump before and will get one again, I never had any trouble expressing and always seemed to get a lot out. It's handy to have in emergencies, such as when your 2 year old is in hospital and you have to keep expressing for your baby, yes ds1, that was you Hmm

I'm feeling really fed up today, my mom is in hospital with pneumonia and I've been sick so I can't visit her. I'm covered in bites that I got at Conkers and I've got an allergic rash so I itch all over. So I can't sleep and I'm tired and grumpy. DS1 snapped the filling off his damaged tooth, so we had to go to the dentist to get it fixed, which he hates and DH is out at Explorers all night, so I'm on my own too. I've got to have another blood test this week too, to check for diabetes Sad Moan over Smile

SpottyTeacakes · 31/07/2012 18:20

Snuggle up on the sofa with some chocolate Kate sounds like you need it!

Laura only you can tell if you need the crutches or not, just make sure you do ring her if you get any worse!

MyDaydream · 31/07/2012 18:35

Laura You could always see how you get on over the next few days then call to get them. Just because you have crutches in the house doesn't mean you have to use them if you don't feel you need them that day.
Kate hope your mum improves soon, and you get better so you can go see her. Sounds really difficult.
Went to aqua natal again today and found it really difficult my bump has felt really heavy and tight, I just felt like I was sinking. Then ended up getting the wrong bus home and had to walk 3 miles home, which really isn't that far but I'm still finding walking more than 10 minutes really painful in my legs and it took me over an hour. My feet were HUGE when I got home.

Willyoudothefandango · 31/07/2012 20:54

Eek little bit terrified, I have to tell work tomorrow! I have a huge bump but work at the end of a corridor on my own in a small company so rarely see anyone and have managed to hide my pregnancy so far.

Half of our staff were made redundant in may (including me then was given part time contract, back to full time from july) and another colleague quit last week so I'm really not sure how they'll react to the news Sad

Wish me luck Confused

FriendofDorothy · 31/07/2012 21:13

I just feel a bit manky tonight. I feel massively bloated and just a bit crampy. I am sure it is normal but I am just feeling a bit sorry for myself. I have my 20 week scan tomorrow and I am really scared :(

Bellaboo123 · 31/07/2012 21:16

friendof chin up I was a bit like that last week didn't quite know what was wrong but felt fed up. Nice bath and early night should help a bit and I'm sure all will be fine tomorrow at the scan!

Mummycox · 31/07/2012 21:19

Sod it... Just found the fresh tomatoes in the tins cupboard. What am I going to find next? Phone in the fridge?

HoneyMum21 · 31/07/2012 21:21

i tried to put the kettle in the fridge...

MyDaydream · 31/07/2012 21:26

Willy good luck with telling work, I was really worried about telling my work since I'd just started, but now it's all about me and baby, work just keep slipping further down the list.
Friend I'm in your club tonight, miserable, bloated and uncomfortable.

ISpyJumpHigh · 31/07/2012 21:30

Evening everyone. Just catching up after a lovely day out with DS - went to Liverpool to the Walker Art Galley which was fab, but by far the highlight for DS was going on the train for the first time. He was absolutely zonked after - must have been all the excitement!

Sorry to hear some of you are having a bad time. Hope things start to get better soon.

Good luck for tomorrow Friendof and anyone else who's having a scan. Also hope it goes well with work Willyou.

ivanapoo · 31/07/2012 21:35

I put a jug of milk in the crockery cupboard... And didn't realise what the weird smell was until DH removed it a week later Blush

Willyou try not to worry about it, remember most employers are ultra cautious about doing anything that may look like discrimination. I was really worried about telling my employer too (redundancies a few weeks ago and I just started a new role) but they've actually been really good... Hoping that will continue when I return from leave!
