Hi everyone!

I think I did this correctly! Eeeek! Probably not Blush I think we still have a few messages to go on the old one, so it's here for when we're ready :)

Hello all, glad scans all went well yesterday and today. Sorry for not checking in with my scan news - was exhausted from worrying about it and came home and went to bed! But, all was very good. Little boy wanted to make sure that there was no doubt about him being a boy - he kept flashing at the camera! Then lay back sucking his thumb while she did all the checks. His legs were a few days ahead in length, but she didn't seem worried. She said he might be tall :) Cardiac scan to double check for heart problems next week, but from what she could see it was all looking good.

WeeJo08 · 26/07/2012 15:31

Excellent news HoneyMum!

Excellent news HoneyMum I know you were worried with not feeling movement. Did she say anything about that? Placenta in a awkward place, or just a laid back baby? So adorable that he was sucking his thumb, I wonder if he'll do the same when he's out?

I think I'm going to nickname this one popcorn! He moves around so much, even during the scan he wouldn't stay still. In the evenings especially he's very active and feels like popcorn popping (like the sound of microwave popcorn, but feeling it inside). He must be bouncing off the walls in there.

HoneyMum21 · 26/07/2012 15:39

Stacks - nope, nothing awkward about placenta, just seems to be a bit laid back. Although, he's been making up for it today, wriggling all over!

SpottyTeacakes · 26/07/2012 15:47

Aww that's great honey Grin

kate2boysandabump · 26/07/2012 16:02

Good news about the scans Smile

WeeJo I saw the thread and commented, so sweet!

Clarella Have fun camping.

I'm not planning on writing Christmas cards this year. I don't want to send them incomplete, without the baby's name, so the only way it'll happen is if it comes early. Which I doubt it will. I'll do family cards, but no others. I've got a good excuse for a year off and last year I got a parking ticket cueing at the post office, can't afford to do that again.

I loved those videos! The dog one reminded me of when we took the boys to Crufts, ds2 was only 18 months and he strolled round Discover Dogs and got right up to all the dogs. The cavalier king charles spaniel, put his paws on his shoulders and he roared with laughter at it and they danced around together. That's the breed of dog we have now.

My boys have been making suggestions for the baby's name;
DS1 Gladiator
DS2 Catsuma (from Moshi Monsters)
I've told them to keep thinking Confused

It's DS1's birthday tomorrow, my biggest boy is going to be 9!! The it's DS2's birthday on Sunday and my littlest boy will be 7!! Where has he time gone? I was in labour this time 9 years ago and it seems like 5 minutes ago. We're off to Conkers tomorrow, birthday parties on Saturday and on Sunday we will play with new toys and have a bit of a rest. Frantic time of the year in our house Grin I feel slightly manic at this time every year.

Hope everyone is well Smile

MyDaydream · 26/07/2012 17:39

That's great news honey! And congratulations on everyone who's had scans. So many going on this week, although it's making mine feel much closer.
Went to H&M today and they had some great tops in that will be great throughout pregnancy. this style, but they have them in scoop neck to and in loads of colours. The one I got is very soft and very stretchy.

SpottyTeacakes · 26/07/2012 17:39

I started reading the 'we can't wait' thread but it made me nearly cry so I've left it for now Wink will come back to it when I'm having a negative moment Smile

WeeJo08 · 26/07/2012 18:05

That's lovely MyDaydream :) Love the neckline! I went into H&M Maternity last week for the first time & got two dresses & two tops - really nice stuff & not too expensive! The dress I'm wearing in my latest bump pic is one of the ones I bought. It was £12.99 Grin

EggsMichelle · 26/07/2012 18:15

I love that H&M top, iv always loved their clothes, will have to have a good look at the website.

Also loving the puppy video, we have a 4yr old boxer and after 3yrs of training him to be gentle with the cats I think he is ready to be nice to Shrimpy. We have been playing him baby crying recordings to get him used to the noise.

MyDaydream · 26/07/2012 18:24

They don't seem to do maternity in my local branch but loved those, thought I'd share since there was so much variety they'd make a pretty good maternity staple.

They also had some great baby clothes, I had to walk away from a lot telling myself to wait a few weeks until I know the flavour and go back. I feel I've been buying more boy type clothes, I worry that if I have a girl and she looks back at baby photos she'll ask why we insisted on dressing her like a little boy.

Clarella · 26/07/2012 18:31

DH slightly worried that I appear more into puppy than baby ... :/

I grew UP with puppies. My little sister wrecked all my toys.... Just very impressed with a very patient puppy and excitable little chap! breast feeding one is lovely though. (baby that is)

Admittedly my own dog ate her hamster.

itsMYNutella · 26/07/2012 18:47

Clarella I thought that is what siblings are for? My younger brother used to like playing with my dolls. And my older brother used blu-tak to stick all the furniture in my dolls house to the ceilings. Although none of it bothered me much because I played with their guns and we all played with lego! :o

Nice maternity stuff is very thin on the ground here, the choice of fashion in general is rather dire so no surprise. I find you either pay mega bucks euros for some ok maternity wear or be happy with something that is basically 'A' shape, but totally not tailored, to accommodate bump...

And I'm sorry but today I was really too hot!! :(

HoneyMum21 · 26/07/2012 18:49

On the pet note... We have a (somewhat psychotic, but loveable) hamster and we've been considering a crested gecko for a while- we put it off till after our wedding, then we found out about bump and idea got put on the back burner. We went to have a look yesterday and fell in love with them all over again. They are a lot less work than getting a dog or a cat, and pose pretty much no risk to the little one, I'm not a huge fan of reptiles generally but these little guys have proper little personalities and are weirdly loveable! Are we crazy thinking about getting a lizard as a last treat for ourselves before bump arrives?!

Stacks · 26/07/2012 18:57

Go ahead and do it Honey I have a baby corn snake (admittedly bought a year ago) that will have to go in the baby's room. However I think it'll just make him the coolest kid in his class.

How long do crested geckos live, and how much time do they take to care for? As long as you can both afford the time and money, why wouldn't you get them?

HoneyMum21 · 26/07/2012 19:09

They last for 8-12 years and only need a full clean out every 8 weeks or so. Money wise the initial outlay will be a couple of hundred for the set up but DH and me thought we might do Christmas to each other early as we won't have time to think about it once bump is here! Once we have have all the stuff they are incredibly cheap to keep. Also, because of my fear of snakes we thought it would be good for bump to grow up around unusual pets so hopefully he won't inherit my fear (if that makes sense!)

brooke89 · 26/07/2012 21:06

Congrats on the scans honeymum and nasara and everyone else who has had theirs recently!

I am FINALLY all moved in to our new house and have everything unpacked! Horraaaay Grin

Puppy talk? I would love love love a puppy but DP has said no :(

I've uploaded a picture of my bump which i took last week - Does everyone think it's high or low? Trying to see which theory of 'How you are carrying' tells me if bean is a boy or girl!

Queenofsiburbia · 26/07/2012 21:16

Evenin' All

Sorry for absence, lack of wifi on hols... ALOT of chatting going on here!

Congrats for good scans peeps, soon we'll be through with them - wierd huh? Anyone else freaked out by other antenatal threads with 'Easter bunny' etc in the title? It felt like our DDs were the longest away for ages. Not anymore.....

Clarella, just caught your last few posts and I am VERY worried that I love my puppy too much to spare any for something as unfun as a baby.
Sometimes I think it would be amazing if you could have human puppies. I know that's wierd but is it certifiable?!

Clarella · 26/07/2012 21:26

Gorgeous bump Brooke! Great news re house too! No idea re height - mine changes lots!

I would get the gecko honey, defo. Nice long lasting pet too :). Good idea re snake fear too! I really want baby to be animal and very dog friendly. I like cats but don't like their bird annihilationisms!

Clarella · 26/07/2012 22:33

Nutella - true but cutting crystal barbies hair was the final straw! Looove Lego - I believe Lego helps kids visualise things behind things ..... My doctor friend never had Lego and says he finds anatomy really hard ( :/ )

Agreed queen (shhhh it's our secret)

cherrypiew3 · 26/07/2012 22:39

Evening all,

Honey we have been talking about getting dd a gecko for ages now she is 10 and loves them. I am just not sure bit worried about taking care of something that is different than my little dog.

Been to my consultant appointment today had a listen to baby which was nice. She asked me if I felt much movement and when I said no she did not seem worried and told me it is early days yet. I have always felt movement early in my other pregnancies. She also booked me in for more scans at 28,32,36 and 40 weeks so will be nice to see the baby later on. Grin

Hope you are all feeling well and good luck to anyone with scans tomorrow.

cherrypiew3 · 26/07/2012 22:42

Brooke just had a look at you pic lovely bump, I still just look flabby.

SeymoreInOz · 27/07/2012 03:08

Just checking in. Congratulations on all the lovely scan news!

Lovely bump brooke it looks high to me!

I am Envy of all the pet talk. DD would love a puppy or a hamster but we are in rented accommodation so we can only stretch to fish. They are pretty low maintenance except the tank has developed a slow leak that I can't find for the life of me. I need to replace the tank before it bursts all over the place, but they're quite expensive!

I hope you're all coping with the heat!? It's still a bit chilly here.

DH has been away for a couple of weeks, which would ordinarily be fine but since we're not in the UK I don't have family help to fall back on. It's been a bit tough, DD gave herself a bad sprained ankle and couldn't walk for 4 days and DS had a vomiting bug! These things always happen when you're on your own!

Baby is head up at the moment and I'm not enjoying it. I really don't like the sensation of being kicked in the bladder and bowel and its head is pushing on my lungs. Turn round baby!

itsMYNutella · 27/07/2012 06:39

I know some of you ladies are still working full time jobs and I am totally in awe of you! SmileI gave up my old job almost 2 years ago and since then have been learning German and freelancing as a teacher... (after moving to germany) This week I've had 3 early mornings in a row (and a really disturbed night with poorly DP- sore throat) and I am shattered!!! Blush
And I'm sure my nipples have grown in the last 2/3 days... Sorry if TMI over your cornflakes Grin

Clarella · 27/07/2012 06:40

Goodness cherry, a lot of scans but reassuring they are looking after you.

Hope you had a good hol queen btw, was it Scotland? Hope midges did not consume you!

Oh dear seymore, hope they're better soon, can't remember, are you there long term now?

Off for last min packing
