Hi everyone!

I think I did this correctly! Eeeek! Probably not Blush I think we still have a few messages to go on the old one, so it's here for when we're ready :)

Good luck with scans!

The ice cream van has been to work GrinGrinGrin

brooke89 · 19/07/2012 13:16

We decided not to find out but now I really want to but I also want the surprise! Only 3 hours and 45 mins to go so we better make our mind up soon!

2blessed · 19/07/2012 13:26

Feeling properly part of the December gang, thanks for the welcome ladies!
I know what you mean elliebelle, I do sometimes feel that I'm not sharing but then (as DP also pointed out) its my first child but not his. If 2012 is the year of surprises then let me have another one... Wink

Good luck brook89

daydream hope you're feeling better soon and good luck with the meet tonight

Had a an argument with DP this morning on the phone, I think he's maybe feeling left out although I have recognised that I have been a bit selfish in recent phone calls. I've been having (until this week, fingers crossed) terrible morning sickness, tiredness and backache and I have been sharing this with DP. I'm also conscious to ask how he is feeling about the pregnancy and try really hard not to have a complete moan fest. He doesn't see it this way. He feels I ask how he is as an afterthought. He's the type of bloke that if you ask how he is he'll be like "yeah, I'm fine" full stop. Grrrrr! Feel like I'm being a bit selfish but think he's overreacting too. Rant over!

As the days go on I'm feeling more and more excited. Made a little sleepsuit purchase today at Asda on the way to work and keep sneaking looks at it in my bag and having a little giggle to myself.

Oooooh. I'm really getting into this. Sorry for the long post though.

MyDaydream · 19/07/2012 13:51

2blessed, welcome! Your due date is my birthday. Me and DP disagreed about surname but it was so important to him for his child to have his name I let it go. We've both chosen first names but I'm choosing middle names as the compromise, there's a family middle name for boys on my side so I want to use that.

WeeJo08 · 19/07/2012 14:24

Out of curiosity re: names...have you guys been using a names book or coming up with them on your own (so to speak) We've done a bit of a mix, in that we have a book but have mostly been thinking of them ourselves and using the book for meanings, etc. We've got a short list of about 6 boy names and 10 girl names (DH seems to be able to come up with girls' names more easily!)

SpottyTeacakes · 19/07/2012 14:32

Welcome 2blessed

Re names we haven't thought of any as we're going to wait to see what flavour first Grin

littlemissbroody26 · 19/07/2012 14:54

mydaydream im sorry to here you have been stressed and work is making it worse, good luck with your dp meeting your dad!

bubbles thats a lovely bump! beutifull :)

2blessed welcome! what a lovely due date, could be a christmas day baby, how special!

We have been thinking more seriously about names now we know its a boy, its really stressing me out! i dont like many names at all :(

2blessed · 19/07/2012 15:16

littlemissbroody26 its boys names that we seem to be struggling with. DP originally wanted that he would name if it was a boy and I would if a girl. I'm not into that at all and as I said we're going to be calling the child more than anyone else so its important that we both agree/like the name.

daydream wishing you a happy birthday from now! My friend's mum and a colleague at work also born on 23rd. Was initially a bit worried about a christmas baby mainly in terms of having parties as an older child and perhaps schoolfriends won't be able to attend. Already people are saying the baby will only get one present at that time. I most definitely will be getting the child separate christmas and birthday pressies. How was it for you growing up?

Now really looking forward to Christmas more than usual and hope to be able to have at least a sip of champagne before BF and lots and lots of pate and brie. Maybe even together!

2blessed · 19/07/2012 15:18

little missbroody26 the other thing I will say is that try not to stress about it, the name will come. Who knows once you've delivered, you may just look at your baby and just know what he should be called...

littlemissbroody26 · 19/07/2012 15:26

2 blessed i really hope the name just comes!

mmmm brie and pate.. and champagne.. im so excited!

My DP is a December baby, he was determined he didn't want a December baby because he used to only get 1 pressie, we were ttc for 2 years and had lost track of when the baby would be due each month as we just assumed it wouldnt happen. I think a december baby will be magical and we can have sledging parties when he is older :)

2blessed · 19/07/2012 15:30

littlemissbroody Sledging parties? where do you live? I want a sledging party... Smile

littlemissbroody26 · 19/07/2012 15:41

i live in Sweden, it is dark for most of the day in december thats the only problem! it will be sledging from 11-1 when its still light!

HoneyMum21 · 19/07/2012 15:50

littlemiss we said exactly the same about not wanting a December baby because of getting mixed into Christmas but never mind! At least you'll be able to have sledging parties (sound like so much fun), we'll prob just get slush and rain :( but we've decided when he's older he can have half birthdays if he wants singe can have a party in the summer!

MyDaydream · 19/07/2012 15:56

2blessed my parents did the gender based naming. I'm so glad I'm a girl because my dads name was awful!
I only remember 2 parties from when I was little usually I just picked a friend and my mum took us for pizza and the cinema, I never got stood up, I imagine parents are quite happy to get rid of a child for a few hours to get things done. A downside is its always inside activities because the weather might be bad, I get jealous of people who can have garden parties and birthday barbecues. I also never felt bad asking for an expensive gift because I'd ask for it joint birthday and Christmas whereas if my birthday was in April id have no chance.
I always said no December baby but it's made me focus on the positives of my birthday. I always had a great time, was never in school and cake tastes the same any day of the year.

ellliebelle · 19/07/2012 15:57

welcome 2blessed
littlemiss my dd has just been invited to an indoor sledging party in a couple of weeks, she is very excited :)
I have officially started my shopping now :) dont have a very long list any way but bought some vests/nappies/cotton wool/dummies etc at asda today then got some swaddling blankets and a steriliser on ebay i already have my pram and moses basket so a cot is the only big thing i need really :)

Bubbless · 19/07/2012 16:00

weejo- its weird how differnet our bumps are! mines a fat-fat-fat-BUMP-fat-BOOBS yours is just BUMP-BOOBS!
thats 16 names in total!! me and dp are struggling to come up with 1 for boy / girl that we agree on! because im sat at home on my arse being ill all day im watching a lot of telly, names are coming from my fav programs at the mo!

2blessed- welcome!!

when are you allowed to eat pate? like.. if i was in hospital going into labour would i be allowed some pate on toast as a little celebration?! or am i not allowed to eat it for the rest of my lifeeeeee all pregnancy?!

not to scare anyone but my brother didnt have a name until the very last min, how long before you have to register the birth? a few weeks? he was baby boy until my parents went to the registry office and the man there was called Ryan, and now so is my brother!!

my aunt was born on boxing day and we always make sure its a seperate occasion, my nan used to re-wrap presents if they came in christmas wrapping paper to make sure it felt like her birthday!! i think id do the same..

so far i only have one top that i look pregnant in, and im wearing it all the time Grin

ivanapoo · 19/07/2012 16:06

Hi everyone

Just a quickie to say the scan seemed fine but I need to go back next week as baby was upside down and really low again and no amount of jiggling, choc eating or stairs- running seemed to do the trick! Just the face and heart to check out properly.

I tried to look for a winkie but couldn't spot one, they don't seem to tell you the sex at our hospital even if you want to know.

Thanks for the well wishes!

WeeJo08 · 19/07/2012 16:11

Bubbles Nonsense! You haven't seen my back and my arse! (I promise not to post a photo of my arse before anyone worries!) I tried on a new swimming costume yesterday and was horrified! It had a scoopy back and the rolls were horrendous! Will have to select swimming costume for holidays rather carefully...lest Greenpeace set up a Save the Whales campaign nearby!

littlemissbroody26 · 19/07/2012 16:16

ivanapoo congrats on the healthy scan! my baby was the same hiding the bits they needed to look at.. cheaky monkeys allready! but its lovely to get to see them 2 times :)

I love the idea of a half birthday.

Is anyone else hoping for their baby to be born on 12/12/12? its 4 days after our due date so not impossible.. my DP has his heart set on it but I have explained that it's not really in my control!

Bubbless · 19/07/2012 16:17

ivana- glad the scan was okay, and im kinda hoping i have to go back! another chance to see your little bubba!!

weejo- pahahha, my DP very untactifully said the other day that if i got into a swimming pool that everyone and all the water would instantly jump out Hmm

littlemissbroody26 · 19/07/2012 16:18

weejo your bump is lovely! the top is fab to :)

littlemissbroody26 · 19/07/2012 16:19

bubbless you should push your DP in a swimming pool for that comment!

HoneyMum21 · 19/07/2012 16:22

Bubbles and Weejo - lovely bumps! I'm still not entirely sure mine even looks like a bump to anyone but me! Not helped by bumping into one of DH's relatives in town today who said 'oh, you don't look very pregnant'. Humph.

WeeJo08 · 19/07/2012 16:23

Thanks Littlemiss! It's not a maternity one - just a long one I've had for a few years (and stretched rather a lot now!) I think it was from Dorothy Perkins.

Ivana Congrats on the scan! Nice to have another wee look too :)

Bubbless My DH has been okay so far on the tact front...not sure how long it'll last though!

I've just started reading French Children Don't Throw Food - its really interesting so far!
