Valium it does look a bit odd but looks more comfy than biting down on gas and air nozzle like I did last time!! I have a thing about needles and can't bear the thought of epidural but to each their own! I like the idea of no pain but not the needle I'd need to get it! I was induced last time around, waters were eventually broken at 11pm and I was hooked up to syntocin drip which they kept turning up and up an up! Had no gap between contractions and what midwives called precipitate labour. Fun!

TitsalinaBumSquash · 22/07/2012 10:38

Having had 1 drug fuelled birth with a whole tank of G&A, epidural early on and bring induced compared to 1 birth with nothing at all, just walking around, keeping things quiet and being by myself, I know which I prefer!
Second was almost pain free anyway, got to 10cm without barely feeling it. I personally think keeping waters intact for as long as possible was the key! Smile

ValiumQueen · 22/07/2012 11:01

It so much depends on the individual circumstance. I was induced due to PE, and had the syto with the no-gap-contractions, and I told them to just kill me and save the baby.

Interesting about the waters tits as they ruptured mine early on.

Cheers for that pass it really helped [ grin]

Chunkychicken · 22/07/2012 11:05

I was given a lovely long lie in by DH this morning, as he took DD downstairs & I could relax for a change. Feel like a new woman. Feel happy & relaxed & over my cold, whereas yesterday I just felt drained!!

Will think about my birthplan later. I will continue planning for a homebirth because I think the odds are that my low placenta will have shifted. As its not covering the OS at present, I'm not sure what the clinical recommendation would be if it still remains a bit low - afterall it is anterior too, so prob right where a normal CS incision would be!! I really, really don't want a CS BUT if its the only safe option then I guess I'd have to make my peace with it. Kind of looking forward to using the breathing techniques & a birth pool to get through this labour - weird!!! Didn't really like G&A and didn't have time for anything else...

May have a look for the FB page when we have our broadband on...

Off to try to get the house sorted & supervise DD playing in her sand pit :)

DonnaDoon · 22/07/2012 11:38

Izzy...Thanks for that I just ordered mine...last natural birth I had to bite down on a huge wad of paper towels...although never heard of Sage server...have you ? Just hoping payment method was secure.

DesperateHousewife21 · 22/07/2012 11:41

valium I wish that was my tum! Unfortunately I'm not that calm and serene and I'm hot and bothered and nothing fits me.

Yeah there are no other groups at all on fb called Nov 12 Babies so as long as you search for that you can't go wrong.

No one can see anything you post on the fb group. The ONLY thing non members can see is who is in the group but theyd have to search for the group first so they'd have to know you were a member anyway.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 22/07/2012 12:15

In regards to waters, with my first they ruptured them early on as I was induced from the moment they broke it was agony.

The second was the same I was happily at 10cm with next to no pain, then they broke and it was soooo painful!

ValiumQueen · 22/07/2012 12:27

Thank you DH21

Dixiebell · 22/07/2012 13:42

Hi all, so I've had a bit of a weekend...went to docs on fri as planned about my coccyx. He sent me to hospital. After a lot of hanging around, surgeon took one look and diagnosed a Pilondial sinus and said they needed to operate under general anaesthetic straight away. I just burst into tears as was so worried about the baby. But after waiting around all fri night, had the op yesterday morning and all fine. Anaesthetist was v reassuring she said as I was pg they'd take all kinds of extra precautions like a breathing tube, and lie me on side, but was no extra risk to baby. So now home with sore throat from tube, v sore bottom and pretty woozy!! But glad it's ok and have felt kicks so all good with bubba. Dh being v good with DS and my dad is a gp so he's keeping an eye on my blood pressure etc. which is pretty low. I do not recommend getting this when you are already suffering night time hip pain from pregnancy, does not make for good night's sleep! DH is in spare room to give me space to thrash arpund (gingerly!). But glad it's getting sorted. Unfortunately, to make sure infection doesn't come back they leave an open wound, district nurse needs to pack it daily, and let it heal gradually. Pretty painful and debilitating. But hopefully will heal nicely way before ds2 comes. Night in hospital reminded me of after his birth when we had to stay 3 nights. Wards are not conducive to sleeping!

StuntNun · 22/07/2012 13:46

Glad to hear you got the treatment you needed Dixie but sorry to hear you're going throught all that. Feel better soon.

Chunkychicken · 22/07/2012 14:07

Poor you Dixie what causes that then??!! Bit of a rough weekend but hope you've started to mend.

ValiumQueen · 22/07/2012 14:16

Oh you poor thing dixie. I was concerned it was one of them. It happens when a hair grows back in again. Can be very nasty. I remember caring for a young man who had one just behind his testes and it was huge. I was on the ward for 6 months and he was still going back for wound dressing when I left. Thank goodness it has been treated well and promptly. You really must take it easy. What a horrible ordeal for you.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 22/07/2012 14:56

Gosh Dixie you poor thing! I'm glad you're on the mend though. I have known a few times recently hospitals leaving wounds open and healing gradually rather than stitching and dressing, my friend had his appendix out and had a gaping wound for weeks while they slowly healed it. Anyway, you take care of yourself love.

I have had my 3 men (big and little) hard AF work today, dragging out anything at all that we don't use and tipping it, it feels good getting 4 large car fulls of stuff out the house! Dinner out to celebrate I think. Smile

ValiumQueen · 22/07/2012 15:29

Because I am housebound, I am learning how to sell things on eBay. I am hoping to sell a lot of my girl clothes and shoes, and my old pushchair. I figure it might help me stay out of mischief and hopefully make a few quid too. I am a bit of a hoarder and I will be sad to see stuff go.

DesperateHousewife21 · 22/07/2012 15:51

dixie glad it went well for you that must have been quite nerve wracking. Lots of rest!

Dixiebell · 22/07/2012 16:03

chicken, my sister (also a doc, I'm surrounded by them!) says it can just occur without the hair thing and maybe my loose coccyx cos of pg caused it somehow. But is more common in fat hairy men! Hmm

Sophiathesnowfairy · 22/07/2012 16:24

dixie that sounds terrible. I hope you are being looked after, it must have been very frightening. I nope it heels quickly.
Xx

ValiumQueen · 22/07/2012 16:33

Pilonidal means 'nest of hairs'. I know you can get sinuses from other causes, but I thought Pilonidal was specific to sinuses caused by hair. Blooming horrible for you anyway. You have my sympathies x. Talking of fat hairy men, I am amazed my DH has not had one yet.

applepieinthesky · 22/07/2012 16:33

Glad it's being sorted dixie

I have requested to join the fb page. I had forgotten all about it until it was mentioned and now it's no longer a secret I may as well join.

Has everyone else got sunshine today as well? I've been out in the garden enjoying it and now about to have a barbeque. Puppy has knackered himself out running around all day and is now fast asleep.

YellowWellies · 22/07/2012 18:07

Ohh dixie - sleep must be a sodding nightmare! I hope it heals speedily and isn't intolerably painful. I've just collapsed to the couch after painting the kitchen ceiling (and, cough, cough, delegating quite a bit to DH), can't imagine having something so bloody rotten and debilitating - get well soon. In hte meantime can I recommend delegated nesting! Grin

Brockle · 22/07/2012 18:20

Oh Dixie that sounds awful. Rest as much as you can and aren't you lucky to have family members as GP's Smile. How is the ankle valium? Sun here and nesting has started which I always like when I was pregnant as I got a lot done. Garden all tidied, kitchen cleaned from top top bottom and DH painted the bathroom which has been on the to do list for the lst seven months!

Hips have been better but keep getting twindges as if I cannot put wait on one of my legs. My leg went from under me in a queue on Friday and I was lucky DH was there. Its weird because the constant pain isn't there so much but this "weakening" is. Not looking forward to the walk to work on tuesday.

DH fasting as it is the month of Ramadan. Funny because we divvy up the nap times now. The DC's don't nap but we do! He is currently napping to escape the smell of roast potatoes..

ValiumQueen · 22/07/2012 19:43

Ankle hurts like a bitch and getting the odd twinge that feels like PGP. Feel pretty low mood-wise. Not surprising really. Day 11 of being in pain and pretty much immobile. PCM takes the edge off the pain if taken every 6 hours.Grr!

Very jealous of all you nesting ladies.

Dixiebell · 22/07/2012 19:58

valium, yeah I know that's what it means but I think there is now an understanding it can be brought on by trauma and other stuff too. Dunno in my case but want to stress I am not hairy there!! :)

ValiumQueen · 22/07/2012 20:08

Nowt wrong with a bit of fluff! It has been about 20 years since I worked on a general surgery ward so I am a bit behind the times. I remember that poor lad as if it was yesterday. He was very attractive and I had to root around between his legs. I miss general nursing!

blonderthanred · 22/07/2012 20:20

I've sent a request to the fb group too. Fb have made it a lot more complicated these days in terms of privacy, I'm generally quite good at that sort of stuff but it is hard to follow.

Spent yesterday at the cricket which was lovely but my ankles actually had wrinkles by the end from being puffed up. We asked to swap with the people on the end of the row so I could get up and walk around more, which they agreed to but were very grudging about.

I've ordered a Dream Genii pillow as I am getting very achey at night. And bought some Gaviscon sachets to carry around. Given that I mostly escaped the sickness earlier on I am not going to complain too much about the heartburn/ankles/hips but the last week or so I have definitely been feeling it!
