Not sure you should be at work dixie. Can you self certificate?

wannabedomesticgoddess · 16/07/2012 17:40

New to any of these threads :)

Havent got my next appointment until second week in august. I have to get rescanned due to placenta previa. Had a small spot of blood this morning after a bad night last night. Didnt think it was enough to go to hospital, what does anyone think? Its my first bleed.

DesperateHousewife21 · 16/07/2012 17:46

Can you call your mw and see what she recommends? Or the maternity unit at the hospital?

ValiumQueen · 16/07/2012 17:50

With placenta previa best to report any bleed. Welcome to the thread Smile

wannabedomesticgoddess · 16/07/2012 18:02

Thanks

I thought I should report any bleed too but I think I may have AND. I have made an appointment with the GP for thursday. DP was keen for me to phone but my heads all over the place and we have compromised that as it was a tiny bit and babys still kicking I will report if it happens again.

I just dont like having a lot of fuss. Stupid I know.

How much do you all intend on buying before baby is born? I bought nothing except hospital necessities first time round. This time I can afford a lot more and so am really having to hold myself back!

capedcrusader25 · 16/07/2012 18:29

Marking my place - hoping all the pains and infections and money rubbish clear up for you all. 4 days left at school, can't wait for 6 weeks of nothing! Very luck for the break I know. Also after reading what everyone has bought I think I'm definitely insane....baby's room is all ready with clothes, essentials, etc put away! Blush

ValiumQueen · 16/07/2012 19:09

Well done caped that is impressive!

Talking of not wanting a fuss, I am beginning to think perhaps I did break my ankle as today have been gently mobilising, and now getting shooting pains at rest. In order to get it checked, I will need to arrange a sitter for DD2 who has chickenpox and will scream if I leave her, and get a lift to GP or hospital. I will sleep on it I think. I fell last Wednesday so it should be getting better now?

Dixiebell · 16/07/2012 19:11

Hi wannabe, I have to be rescanned for placenta previa too. There's a few of us on here. I was told to call if any bleeding, it's prob fine if not much and not bright red. But think I'd call mw anyway and see what she says.

Dixiebell · 16/07/2012 19:14

Dob't worry valium, I intend to lie on my bed with cuppa, and laptop, answer the odd email if necessary, but won't be overly stressful! I'll let them know I'm suffering and will do what I can, but no travelling unless miraculous recovery by Wed!

ValiumQueen · 16/07/2012 19:22
applepieinthesky · 16/07/2012 19:25

caped I'm the same. With the exception of a mattress for the crib (although we have a cotbed and moses basket as well Blush) and a bouncy chair we are all ready. If baby arrived tomorrow, although I sincerely hope not, we would have all the essentials we need.

wannabedomesticgoddess · 16/07/2012 19:44

I just really dont want a CS. The thought of being cut open...

Thats impressive caped!!

ValiumQueen · 16/07/2012 19:47

I can thoroughly recommend Baby Bjorn baby bouncers. Cost a fortune, even on eBay, but utterly fab.

Chunkychicken · 16/07/2012 19:52

I've got a low lying placenta although only placenta praevia minor rather than major, as far as I can tell, as no obstruction to the exit route, but I totally agree wanna as I had hoped for a home birth and a cs is pretty much the complete opposite!! Welcome to the thread btw :)

I can beat yours Caped for holiday - we finish Thursday, & I don't work Tues or Wed Grin

Have bought NOTHING for this DC, although have plenty if its another DD, so feel mildly envious of all those that have got everything sorted!!

YellowWellies · 16/07/2012 20:01

Ooooer valium that doesn't sound good my dear. I wonder if you've managed to do what I did a few years ago. Apparently it's more common than a straightforward ankle break (stoopid marshmallow preggers brain can't remember what it's called....) but I slipped whilst running for a train and managed to twist my ankle tendons so hard that it pulled a big chunk of bone off the main ankle bone, which then floated free in my foot and hurt like hell when I tried to mobilise my foot. I could put weight on it unlike a straightforward break (I'm not hard). Foot was black and swollen for three weeks before I got a diagnosis. Oh what is it sodding called... right am off to see if Mr Google can rescue me from my own idiocy and eat lots of biscuits which lovely DH bought three packets of for me, can I demolish them all whilst he's out fishing?

capedcrusader25 · 16/07/2012 20:02

Is this your first apple? I think I'm overexcited (understandably) but also nervous as this is my first and I just have an awful feeling we won't have anything prepared for this baby who's going to suddenly appear in a few months...hence the 'preparation' overdrive.
Was reading through the prem posts and then had an awful dream last night that baby arrived :( Still don't really feel her much, more than previously but nothing as big as other ladies are feeling on here. Putting it down to the anterior placenta.
Valium get checked out as soon as you can I'd say, it should be getting better now if nothing too serious, fingers crossed it doesn't turn out to be a break though x

YellowWellies · 16/07/2012 20:03

Woo woo we've bought things too! Free changing bag from Boots ok that's not buying exactly, nappy cream, wipes and nappies. Oh yes starting with the glamorous bits!

YellowWellies · 16/07/2012 20:06

caped if the worst were to happen and you were to have a prem' to be honest - they don't need anything so don't let that fear guide your prepping - their clothes are so small they have to be specially ordered online (Willow's looked like a barbies - so tiny!) and only woolly hats and nappies are de rigour for the first month or so whilst their skin is so sensitive and the NICUs seem to have a good stock of these teeny tiny things. So don't worry. Relax and enjoy the prepping xx

ValiumQueen · 16/07/2012 20:10

yellow ouch! That sounds awful! It would make sense as my foot has been a tad floppy (nurses make the worst patients) I am terrified of it being broken as DH does not drive, but upside would be I can take my Annual Leave later, and start Mat leave later. I figured if I could weight-bear it was not a break, but I actually couldn't this afternoon. I have my grandfathers stick thankfully - useful for clearing toys and catching errant toddlers.

daisychain76 · 16/07/2012 20:11

Just marking my place. Hi wannabe and hope you feel better soon dixie.

ValiumQueen · 16/07/2012 20:12

Have you got your free boots bag already? Did the voucher get sent or do you download it? I have only had the first pack so far. I still use the boots changing bag, and see loads around.

wannabedomesticgoddess · 16/07/2012 20:19

Thanks chunkychicken. Aww thats worse for you wanting a home birth and being faced with CS. I had DD with just gas n air for 15 hours and was hoping for the same (not the 15hours bit :o ) so the CS has knocked me for six.

My placenta is almost totally covering :(

Think I might wait until after next scan and then go mad with the buying!

capedcrusader25 · 16/07/2012 20:21

Chunkychicken how ridiculous is it that I'm a bit jealous?! I break up on Friday (midday in fact) for a 6 weeks break and I'm still jealous you aren't working tomorrow or wednesday Grin
Thanks yw - I just get a bit neurotic every now and then. Unfortunately there isn't any other prep to do for it to be guided! Haha. I need a changing bag which is weirdly something I'm almost putting off getting...they baffle me a bit! Now I know I've definitely lost it :)

wannabedomesticgoddess · 16/07/2012 20:24

Valium that sounds so painful. Get checked out as soon as you can, though thats rich coming from me!

YellowWellies · 16/07/2012 20:24

Valium I signed up for the Boots parenting club last month and a wee magazine arrived this weekend (took em about four weeks) - the voucher was in that - just took it into the store and had to buy some pampers new baby nappies (on offer at the mo') et voila one changing bag!
