Ankle hurts like f**k tonight, and I have only pottered. DD2 is on the mend. Just a few blisters to pop and crust over. Her lady bits are very poxed, and the scabs keep coming off, which is pretty horrid for both of us. She was full of mischief today so I am very relieved. Not a nice thing, but much better for them to get it when they are wee.

Passmethecrisps · 18/07/2012 21:26

Congrats on the blue chick

Sorry your ankle is so painful valium. Amazing that you walked around on it for so long.

miss I love that your husband goes diving for lobster during lunch hour!

I went to pregnancy yoga tonight. I really enjoyed it. Nice and relaxed.

I was lying reading earlier and I could see my top moving around. When I lifted it you could see it squirming about and kicking. The kicks were high - up past my belly button. I couldn't feel them particularly but they could definitely be seen!

Passmethecrisps · 18/07/2012 21:27

Oh, and valium I feel really sorry for your wee one with scabby bits. Most unpleasant. Glad she is a bight brighter today.

WaitingForMe · 18/07/2012 21:41

We can't eat lobster? I figured it was like prawns - ok if fully cooked. I've been eating prawns about once a week. I feel quite jealous of a DH that goes diving for lobster in his lunch hour, sounds very glamorous.

I'm in so much pain right now. The last few days it's felt like baby was doing River Dance - regular and pretty rhythmic kicking at the front of my tummy. Now he's turned around and is doing it to my back. I'm not sure what he's kicking but it's agony. A hot water bottle and paracetamol don't even touch the pain!

Chunkychicken · 18/07/2012 22:00

My nose is running so much today, its SOOOOO irritating. It's actually making my face hurt. :( It's nothing like a broken ankle obviously Valium (big sympathy) but the fact I can do very little about it that sucks.

YellowWellies · 18/07/2012 22:20

You can have cooked seafood. I've been eating it still and I'm a paranoid freak. I guess if he's caught it from the Forth it might not be for the best though (as wasn't there a shellfishing ban after the sewage farm discharge after heavy rains a couple of years ago?) You can even have sushi so long as it has been frozen 24 hours so boiled lobster would be fine depending on the water its been living in I guess. We can get carrier bags full of lobster meat for a £20 from the stromness fishermens co-op.

YellowWellies · 18/07/2012 22:21

Mmmmm garlic butter....

TitsalinaBumSquash · 18/07/2012 22:31

I had a full on melt down tonight Blush
DP was trying to hug me and made a typical DP type comment about sex, I ranted about how on earth am I meant to be in the mood when I look like shit, feel disgusting and none of my fucking clothes fit. Blush

He was Shock and immediately apologised and said how beautiful he found me even with my bump and that he had no idea I was worrying so much about my new shape. (I used to have a real
Problem with body dismorphia and he hadn't realised)

We have sat down tonight and found me some lovely maternity clothes online to buy and had a chat, I feel a bit better, I hadn't realised how much I'd been struggling with it but tbh I have been avoiding other people dramatically because I'm not loving my new shape. Blush

Passmethecrisps · 18/07/2012 22:51

tits I am glad your husband was sweet with you. I think a lot of us are finding our new body shape very weird to get used to. I try not to catch myself unawares around mirrors because I still need to prepare myself. I found that good fitting maternity clothes made a massive difference to how I was feeling. I can honestly say that now I have fitting clothes, I have rarely felt so comfortable in my own skin. It has taken a fair amount of time though and I still have wobbles.

chunky I have had terrible sinuses with a really sore face. It gets so painful that it feels like my teeth are being pushed. I had to take a couple of days off before term ended because it was painful to lift my head. I found steaming with olbas oil shifted the worst of it. There is no clear guidance about whether olbas is fully safe but i figured that two drops in a very large bowl would be fine. Menthol crystals would do the same and are safe.

rowingdowntheriver · 18/07/2012 23:09

Thanks for your messages earlier, it definitely helped to get that moan off the chest! I've got mother in law here to 'help' with DS but so far no signs of getting any help so am hoping she'll head back home tomorrow as I've not got the energy to host her when trying to juggle work, DS and visiting DH.

valium and waiting it sounds like you are both having a tough time of it at the moment too. I hope the ankle is better soon, and waiting, I hope MIL is ok and completely understand how you feel. It is completely normal!

rowingdowntheriver · 18/07/2012 23:11

Oh, and tits, your DH sounds very sweet and he responded perfectly to the situation!

MissMummy1 · 18/07/2012 23:25

YW there's also a fishing ban around the bay re radiation thing. I'm not taking any chances! Plus we grill our lobbies, not boil them (some lobster wally taught him a cool way to do it).

Waiting it's really not glamorous at all, be just has lota of hanging about on boats all day so uses his spare time to clock up some diving. I think he sees it as a hunter gatherer thing to provide food hes caught and killed.

Hope everything gets better for everyone who's having a shit time at the moment. If it helps, I also have an inconsiderate MIL who has decided to invite herself to stay 4 days before we move. Urgh!

MissMummy1 · 18/07/2012 23:28

Oh and tits your hubby sounds lovely! Mine referred to me as 'fatty' tonight to the barmaid in our local - idiot didnt realise shes an old friend of mine who gave him both barrells for his crap attempt at being funny! I'm really conscious of not getting paranoid about my new figure as I was anorexic as a teenager. Men are ignorant twats sometimes grr!

izzybizzybuzzybees · 18/07/2012 23:51

Just popping on quickly so I don't lose my place on the thread!

Sorry to hear about your ankle valium but the way you were describing I was almost sire you had dine some damage! The cast should help a lot with the pain.

GTbaby · 19/07/2012 00:36

Oh dear. Can't sleep.
Yesterday. Fell asleep really quickly. But then woke at 2 n couldn't settle again. Today, just can't sleep. So frustrating.

Iheartpasties · 19/07/2012 04:08

Ina May?s book on childbirth is fab, I also loved [[http://www.sarahbuckley.com/
Gentle mothering]]
daisychain glad you got some compensation ? I was thinking about it the other day (but couldn?t remember your NN!).

FatimaLovesBread · 19/07/2012 06:21

I sympathise GTbaby. Bedtime used to be my favourite time but this week I'm struggling. Constantly tired bit then can't sleep and can't get comfy

Chunkychicken · 19/07/2012 06:39

Thanks Passme I've been using olbas/vicks & others but its not actually a stuffy nose, its more like an open tap!! :( I lost my DD's saline nasal spray somewhere in the new house, prob unpacked it & put it somewhere 'useful', but that was quite good too.

GTbaby · 19/07/2012 07:37

fatima it sucks!
All I'm focused on now is one more sleep n I start summer holidays!

TitsalinaBumSquash · 19/07/2012 08:03

Oh gosh I had awful nightmares last night, woke up absolutely sobbing. Blush
I'm fine now though.
Just about to have my first meal of the day (porridge and a banana) I'll have something else about 10.30-11 to ward off the dizziness.
I'm doing the oh do glamorous task Of spring cleaning my 98yo grandmothers house out while she's in he say centre. Rock n'roll! Grin

Iheartpasties · 19/07/2012 08:15

Don't over do it today titsalina, take it easy and rest up as well as cleaning :)

ValiumQueen · 19/07/2012 08:38

yellow what treatment did you have for your foot, and how long until you were ok? I have heard various stories from 2-12 weeks. If it is 12 weeks, then I would be almost due.

horseylady · 19/07/2012 09:22

Tits with you on the whole body issue! dh has been sweet though! Mum bought me a fair few mat clothes but all a size bigger than j normally wear!! So they just hang like a tent. Seriously though good fitting ones are really comfy and look stylish!

Had the munchies at breakfast!! So ate a fair amount!! Yum yum yum. Have been living off salad just avoiding eggs in a foreign country which is quite hard when all I now want to eat is eggs!!

Elizadoesdolittle · 19/07/2012 09:25

I agree passmethecrisps I went shopping for new maternity clothes yesterday and got some fab black skinny jeans and tops from H&M. I feel so much better in them. Good fitting maternity clothes will highlight your bump and not make you look like a tent. tits hopefully your new mat clothes will make you feel a whole lot better about your new body shop. I grew to adore my bump with DD and missed it when it was gone. Haven't quite got to that stage this time round but I'm getting there!

Had a bit of a shopping spree lately. Apart from clothes I bought DD's big bed and furniture for her new room so can finally start getting that together. And I finally bought a couple of bits for the new baby. Don't want to buy too much until I've been through all the stuff I already have but I bought a couple of cute babygros for the hospital. Can't have them totally wearing hand me downs.

I've also signed up to pregnancy Pilates and am going to aqua natal from next week. Figured it was about time I got my backside into gear.

vallium hope your ankle eases up soon. Sounds nasty.

YellowWellies · 19/07/2012 10:02

I have to confess to really rather liking my bump too. It's got so big now, no one would notice how big my bum and saddle bags are. Haven't put weight on my legs or arms, but the area of my body I've always been conscious about (my tummy) now has a genuine reason for being huge. Hurrah! I was more conscious about 10 weeks ago when I didn't really look pregnant - just dumpy.

Having said this, am off to a pal's wedding and would like a nice maternity dress as, as you all say - good maternity clothes do look a lot nicer than wearing normal clothes. So any recommendations of shops with good ranges - would be much appreciated. Can't wait to get off the island to a place with real shops and choice!!!!

MissMummy good call on the lobster! Glow in the dark baby = not so good Grin

Valium I was in one of those hard plasticised fibre casts (the removable ones) for about four weeks I think. I still have a weakness though and whenever I did some intensive running - it would always be that ankle that I'd end up with an injury on - so take care. Unfortunately by leaving it for a while it can mean a permanent weakness :(
