Good luck straightforward for your scan, and bumpy bel at the midwife :)

Yes - I will have to go by myself on Friday...either that or take my MIL!

IamBlossom · 07/03/2006 08:54

kayzed!! 3 pounds!! I've gained a stone and counting. I just can't understand it - yesterday for example I only ate a bacon sandwich, quarter of a sponge cake, four toffees, a slab of choc and an ice lolly in addition to my three generous meals. I wonder what on earth is going on, it must be my glands or something.

:O

ah see now I feel bad cos you were chundering so much. And I wasn't. You have some ground to make up. I got horrendous thrush last time when PG with DS, no signs so far touch wood.

AggiePanther · 07/03/2006 09:32

Have put on over a stone and a half here ...but its mostly on my boobs I reckon ;)

puddytat99 · 07/03/2006 11:12

Wallace - what a pain about your scan, hope everything goes ok on Friday.

Blossom - There's nothing wrong with a 'healthy' appetite.

I've put on just under a stone so far. I saw an old friend of mine yesterday who I've not seen for ages. She's due at the end of June and her bump was huge. It puts mine to shame!!!!

MummyZena · 07/03/2006 12:49

Hi All
What a lot to read, thanks for all the welcomes. Scan tomorrow, my guess it is a boy as I feel so different this time, but don't mind either way. (what is the thresd test?)
Boobs, huge when not pg "massive when pg" no leaks and no pain this time, thank goodness.
Sex, well I have to say things in that department are just great, just wish I didn't have to go to work, it gets in the way!! wasn't interested a month ago but now, well my mind is just not on anything else, lucky DH!!
Live in South Wales, not sure who asked but someone did.

heartinthecountry · 07/03/2006 13:26

Hello all

Am very impressed with the tit-fondle orgasms - lucky ladies. Mentioned it to dh who was then musing about whether or not you would be likely to 'O' while bf Shock. (Please don't feel you have to respond to that!)

Wallace - how disappointing about your scan. Especially as I can imagine how nervous as well as excited you must have been feeling. Hope it goes well for you on Friday. Do you feel okay about going on your own? I have mine next Tuesday and I know my heart is going to be pounding.

No idea how much weight I've put on (no scales and haven't seem midwife since b4 Xmas) but my tummy is huge and am eating stacks now so think I am in for a shock.

jersey · 07/03/2006 13:52

Hi everyone, long time no speak! Signed off work for 2 weeks with lumbago and sciatica at moment, spent last week unable to sit of lay down without a lot of pain. Internet access at home not very good so will catch up when back at work.

Welcome to newcomers and congrats on scan results.

My scan next week so will let you all know as we are hoping to findout the sex.

pinkdolly · 07/03/2006 14:07

Hi everyone,
Am 20 weeks today, hurrah! Now I can start counting down. My friend came over last night and was commenting on how big my belly was compared to another lady in church who is 2 days ahead of me. I guess i do have a big bump. I did with my other pg's but the girls were only small. DD1 was 6llb 4oz and DD2 was 5llb 14oz. So I must hold a lot of water (and choccy,cheesecake,icecream...Blush)
Read a story the other day about a lady whose first labour was 4hrs long (same as mine) and second labour was 2hrs long (same as mine). Her third labour was 20 mins and her baby was born on the kitchen floor!
Am planning a home birth, but that sounds a bit quick, was hoping for about 1hr. Some of you on here have had more than 3 children, how have your labours been, just trying to prepare myself!

puddytat99 · 07/03/2006 14:54

Jersey - sorry to hear that your off work. I too have sciatica, it was reaaly bad 2 weeks ago but hasn't been too bad lately. Hope it goes that way for you too.

Pinkdolly - congrats for getting to 20 weeks, hope everything goes ok. I'm so jealous with your short labours, but I think 20 mins is a bit scary. My DS was 23 hours, so hopefully this one will be a bit shorter.

Just got back from my first Aquanatal and I'm totally shattered but feel good at the same time. So good that I had to have some choccie ice cream. :O Better go back next week!!!

Had my lovely scan this morning. All AOK and we got some really good views of baby. DD behaved herself beautifully too. Sonographer was pretty sure (when pressed for a percentage she said 85%) that it's a girl. DH admitted to being a little bit disappointed, but it had faded by the time we left the hospital. Think we'd both just got used to the idea of baby being a boy. DD very happy as she wanted a sister, but we're conscious that these things can never be certain...

HITC - funny your DH should ask that, as I was really worried about it during my last pg! Would seem completely obscene to get O through bfing! OK, tmi I know, but it needs very gentle yet quick tongue action from DH - any other touch whatsoever is excruciating. BFing is full on sucking and really not in anyway arousing. Feeling rather Blush about mentioning it now!!!

great news about your lovely scan SF ....

pinkdolly am in awe of your short labours - 20 mins would be amazing - this is my first and hoping for a homebirth, but the thought of labour is starting to get a bit scary - can i request a 20 mins labour - d'ya think??

as for weight gain - i think i've gained about 8 lbs altho i'm eating enough for 4 let alone 2 and me bump is really rather large

ok better get off and order my underfloor heating ....

HumphreysCorner · 07/03/2006 18:33

Straightforward-excellent news on your scan. Yep, don't be Blush about your boob 'O''s-still think it is amazing! Can understand though as once (yes only once) years ago was canoodling in the park and 'O'd through just kissing. Not happened since though. Sad ((xx))

My labour with DD was 25 hours so really hoping for a shorter spell but deffo not 20 mins as our hospital is 30 mins away and parking dreadful (never any spaces). My friend only just got there with her 2nd and she lives about the same distance away. Contractions went from something like 10 mins apart to just 2 in about 1/2 hour-scary.

jersey and puddytat-ooh, nasty sciatica. I was signed off with DD but haven't got it so bad this time. Every now and again I fall over when my left leg gives way. Hope you both improve soon. ((xx))

Wallace-hmmmmn, MIL-NO CHANCE!!!!!! ((xx))

Shock at the O from boobs, mine are definitely more sensitive (in nice way), but not that much! Lucky lady.

Went swimming this morning before work - feels pretty virtuous to be in the pool before 8am. Saw a friend I hadn't seen for a while (and her 4 month old little girl, very sweet) and she asked me if I'd lost some weight (not around the belly area obviously). I think I haven't really put much on, I tended to fluctuate between 11 to 11 1/2 stone and am only about 11 1/2 at the moment, so maybe it's all been sucked into the bump. Lots of definite kicks today (a couple as I've been typing - lol)

Best wishes to those of you not having such a great time, sciatica sounds pretty horrible at the best of times...

AggiePanther · 07/03/2006 21:12

Congrats SF on your scan but you should come and have a read of my thread \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=49&threadid=150535&stamp=060306193343\here}before you go shopping - some revelations on there!
Re BF - its definitely completely different, I think not just physically, but mentally too - sex and feeding a baby are just too seperate in my head for BF to be a turn on.

Hi Jersey - sorry to hear you're not feeling too good - hope you get well soon.

Hi to everyone else - have forgotten what else has happened so sorry if I've missed anyone :)

kbaby · 07/03/2006 21:25

I read everyones threads and then think Ill have to respond to that and then by the time ive read them all ive forgotten who said what, so apologies to anyone I miss out or whose name I forget.
[jelous icon] at the o just through breast fondling. I have no sensation whats so ever in mine and never have. I think thats why I managed to BF dd without too much pain. DH doesnt even bother going there now as I just get a bored glazed expression.
My labour with D was 5 hrs and I got to the hospital at 9cm dilated with 40 mins to go b4 she was born. Im hoping this one will be similar as it was such a positive experience although Ive asked DH to camcorder it for me as I wouldve loved to have watched DD being born. Im sure because ive decided that, it will be a complete nightmare and I could be politly telling DH to lose the camcorder.

Good morning to all you lovely ladiesSmile

I can't believe how many we are by now - lovely!

22+4 todaySmile certainly can't hide it any more. Bump is really rather big. Have been bying quite a bit of maternity wear. Somehow the stuff from DD 4 years ago just doesn't seem all that interesting nowWink

Believe it or not but it is a well known medical fact that a number of women can "O" from BF. Has got to do with the hormone used for the let down reflex being the same as for sex/O. Maybe some of you have had milk squirt out during O after the baby is born (as if there will be much of that kind of thing going onGrin)
And also O is actually one big contraction so if you have a feel of your tummy while O it will be hard and contracted... all very interestingSmile

Have booked a long w/e away for DH and I at the end of this month. DD going to grandparents. Last chance of a bit of children free time alone - for a while at least. Can't wait!!

Have a nice day all.

Hugs,
DangirlSmile

Straightforward · 08/03/2006 11:17

Hello all!

Oooo - short labour yes please!

I was pretty lucky with DD - 12 hours exactly from the moment I woke up thinking 'ooh think I must have a jippy tummy from that bbq last night', to DD arriving in the world. I've got loads of friends who went on for days and days (then to have to have a csection at the end - grr!). Still, one of these friends recently had her 2nd and her labour lasted 2 hours from start to finish this time! Hurrah! I'm hoping her good influence will rub off on this one!

Was reassured by the mw telling me that you can decide to have a homebirth right at the last minute here, so although I'd like to make it to hospital to get a chance of using the pool (worked for me last time), if it comes on quickly and I don't have to move, I don't have to.

Could hire a pool I suppose, but we haven't got much room in our flat!

Thanks for the thread link AggieP - am now less, rather than more sure of the sex of this baby!! What will be will be I suppose! I'm not buying anything anyway, as have about a gazillion friends desperate to clear their lofts of baby clothes and gizmos. Only thing I need to get is a travel system typey thing - but will deffo get that second hand as I absolutely refuse to spend 100s of £s on these sorts of things.

I've been exiled from the house today due to carpet fitters taking over, and have taken refuge from the crappy weather in the library. I had to sign a thing saying that I wouldn't go into chatrooms etc, and I asked if mumsnet was ok. Guy looked a bit embarrassed when I told him it was about pg, bfing etc and said he thought it would be ok. Good job he hadn't read the O discussion!!
