Morning!!!

Thought I'd start the new thread with Gwen's title now in case I fill the other one with my moaning.

I'll do the stats at a more normal time of day unless anyone else does it first.

OP posts:

Cathfin am so sorry to hear that your DS is so poorly. So worrying for you. Really hope he is soon on the mend. Hope you and your DD are ok home alone also.

gwennie excellent news about the roof!

Nothing happening here, gonna have an earlyish night wonder if we'll have any summer solstice babies?

surfmama · 20/06/2012 23:43

Coops79 · 21/06/2012 08:08

Morning All - I am now officially one day overdue although I completely understand that in the great scheme of things this is absolutely nothing. Got the midwife at 10am and am expecting to be told that nothing will happen for ages. Feeling rather weepy this morning after lots of weird dreams about work; I don't think I'm coping very well with the whole not being at work thing, especially with nothing to distract me. I'm hoping that it's hormones revving up for something to happen; I have zero other symptoms. Maybe if I go to the pub tonight when it's really busy it'll tempt my waters out.

Surfmama Hope all goes well today, if things haven't started moving already. :)

CathFin Hope your little boy is doing better this morning; sending you lots of love.

Have a lovely day everyone.
xx

gwenniebee · 21/06/2012 09:39

Surf I wonder how you are getting on.... hope it's all going well and the doctors are a) there to look after you and not on strike and b) not terrifying you!

Cath hope the situation is looking a lot happier this morning...

Coops damn the weepy hormones! And work infiltrating your dreams... evil job. The year I got married I genuinely had a work-related dream every night of the summer holidays, including every night of my honeymoon. I have no idea why our brains do that to us. Hope the mw has encouraging news for you and, either way, I think a trip to a busy pub sounds great - if only for the reaction of the other punters Wink

MummyBee is coming over today to help me clean up now that roof man has finished and there is no more massive dust production. Was hoping to take her to Wendover Woods for a walk and then tea but the weather is rubbish so we'll maybe just have to have the tea :)

emblosion · 21/06/2012 09:39

Hang in there coops its frustrating waiting isn't it. I've got midwife today too but am not officially overdue til after the weekend so it'll prob be a quick in and out (as it were!) Good luck, pub sounds like good idea - I am thinking of cinema to tempt some contractions!

Cath how is your DS today? Really hope you are all ok.

Surf any joy in the contractions? Really hope things have started happenning for you. Keep us posted x x

Have a good day all, will check in later to catch up! X

surfmama · 21/06/2012 11:11

morning well another night of irregulars and am here waiting for some gel and a breaking of forewaters yikes, it was my rear ones that have popped! they are all lovely but fuck it i am a hippy and hate being fiddled with. if i hated her fingers up my fanjo what will i be like in proper labour? stop panicking and breath surf.....

justwantcheese · 21/06/2012 11:22

Just to let you know baby cheese arrived yesterday afternoon weighing 9lb13 .a great experience, labour started at midnight. Pleased not induced. Had pool, gas and air and diamorphine. Tons of stitches. Felt much happier this birth, great midwifes. Feel very blessed to have 2 lovely girls

Coops79 · 21/06/2012 11:51

Justwantcheese Congratulations! Do you have a name yet?

emblosion midwife was fab. Very relaxed; baby is heading in the right direction. Next appointment is on Wednesday with the mental midwife who always manages to upset me. Baby is under clear instructions to get the hell out before then.

Gwenniebee I think it's not being at work when everyone else is that really screws me up (I'm v proud of not having had a day's sick for over three years); I can cope with the school holidays but when life is going on without me it makes me feel worryingly dispensable!

Have just heard that the sister of a friend has had her little boy three days early; facebook is full of "you're lagging behind" comments. This is not helpful. Well-meaning friends are telling me to slow down and get some rest. If I rest any more I'll be clinically dead. My patience is definitely reaching its limit. I am necking raspberry-leaf tea and am now off to chop up lots of pineapple.

emblosion · 21/06/2012 14:19

Huge congrats JWC wow, not many stragglers left now.

Hang in there surf it'll all be worth it in the end x x

Glad midwife went well coops mine did too. She said too early for a sweep but am booked for one next thurs. Am 2/5 engaged so at least its all moving in the right direction. Am also measuring normal for dates again which is a relief, thought might be gestating a small elephant for a while!

The facebook messages/texts/phone calls have started for me too (sigh) its already driving me mad- its only going to get worse isn't it?

emblosion · 21/06/2012 14:20

Ps. yy to raspberry leaf tea and pineapple. Have bought the biggest pineapple in the world to eat later!

DairyNips · 21/06/2012 14:25

Deep breaths surf, don't worry, having midwives put their fingers up your fanjo is, IMO totally different to the sensations of labour and not anywhere near as natural. It's like comparing someone putting their fingers up your bum with doing a rather large poo, you're in control of pushing the poo out but the fingers are just irritatingly poking away etc iyswim? Best thing for the labour is to focus, think positive thoughts, breath(very deeply on the gas and air at first twinge of a contraction if you're having gas and air) if not breath in through nose and out through mouth. You can do it Smile

surfmama · 21/06/2012 14:40

congrats jwc how exciting and thanks dairy for your help... It really does help. am breathing and doing sideways stairs...! Love to all with babies x

Miniangel · 21/06/2012 16:54

Just had a mw appt and they gave given me the induction date as 26th. Still 5 days far but at least I have a date. Mw tried to do a sweep again today but the cervix was thick and hardly open, it is quite soft though. 26th is our wedding anniversary so have mixed feelings about being induced on that day.

Congrats JWC.
All the very best surf

Hope this baby come out naturally soon.

gwenniebee · 21/06/2012 19:46

Congratulations to jwc :)

Surf hope all is going well with you.

Mini good that you have a date now, fingers crossed it will get going before then!

Emblosion and coops I've just made another Brew of RLT..... do join me. I have nice biccies my mum brought too :) Glad your midwife appointments both went well and here's hoping you don't have to see them again!

I have felt generally peculiar today Hmm. Almost constant branston pickles which have not been painful but have been noticeable... and just.... constant! It's beginning to get mildly uncomfortable at some points so DH and I have decided this clearly means the baby is going to arrive now and thus bugger up DH's work commitments for Monday. Uh-oh.....

DairyNips · 21/06/2012 21:52

gwennieGrin lol at Branson pickles!

DairyNips · 21/06/2012 21:52

Hope all is going ok surfSmile

emblosion · 21/06/2012 23:19

Grin branston pickles! I like it!

PinkPanther27 · 22/06/2012 07:48

Hello all, gonna attempt to type this one handed on my phone. Bethany was born at 02:29 on Weds 20th June weighing 8lb 14.
I
We'd gone to the hospital tues afternoon for the induction and almost sent home as they were so full. Had my first examination and they said I was 3cm so they would get me on delivery suite and break my waters instead of giving me the pessary.
Got to delivery suite and they were really busy so induction postponed till Weds morning. Sent dh home to get some rest and persuaded them to let me stay on delivery suite in my room unless they needed the room. Didnt get any sleep due to numerous toilet trips and then had a v intense contraction just after 1am. Called midwife who strapped me to monitor. Had another one 3 mins latet and another so called dh and buzzed for midwife. Dh arrived about 30 mins before she was born! Managed on gas and air and tens machine as no time for epidural. Lost loads of blood but managed to avoid blood transfusion. Bethany was born in her waters which is apparently v lucky my ds would have been too if midwife hadnt broken the waters as he came out

Coops79 · 22/06/2012 07:53

Congratulations PinkPanther - lovely news. Hope you're all doing well. xx

DairyNips · 22/06/2012 08:25

pink Massive congratulations and well done!Grin Lovely nameSmile

emblosion · 22/06/2012 10:30

pink congratulations, lovely news! One of my fave girls names too.

Although I'm trying to make the most of the peace and quiet, am v Envy of everyone enjoying newborn cuddles! When's my baby going to turn up? Ha ha (stamps feet)

surf any news this morning?

coops and gwennie tell me you're still here too!

Am off for a rlt and a side of pineapple! DH wants to go and see 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter' Hmm later - perhaps I will agree and try to scare myself into labour!

McKayz · 22/06/2012 10:41

Congratulations Pink!!

TeaandHobnobs · 22/06/2012 10:42

Congratulations Pink!

DS was also born "in the caul". It is supposed to be very lucky, and protects them from drowning (Hmm) - apparently sailors pay a high price for the membrane sack!

We like to think he is a mystical baby Grin

Coops79 · 22/06/2012 10:44

Waves at Emblosion Hiya! Still here, 2 cups of raspberry leaf tea down this morning, lots of bouncing on the ball last night. Nothing happening. Bloody nothing. Am very anti the idea of a sweep (there isn't a midwife in the South West who hasn't already had a damn good poke around up there already) but may be a little more keen in a week or two. I am determined that he should turn up the end of the weekend because I have mentally committed myself to exactly six months of breast-feeding and no more. This will take me neatly up to Christmas Day which I intend to spend laying on the floor of the kitchen watching the turkey burn as pour sherry into my mouth. Yes I know this not realistic but you have to have a goal, don't you think?

A confined, public space such as a cinema sounds like the perfect environment for an embarrassing breaking of waters. Definitely do it.

BTW Pinkpanther meant to say, Bethany is a gorgeous name and every single Beth/Bethan/Bethany I have taught has been lovely and bright. :)

justwantcheese · 22/06/2012 10:48

Hi still got baby brain! Baby's name is Athene . Congrats pink, lovely name, glad it was so quick and straight forward for you. Hope everyone else is ok. X
