Morning!!!

Thought I'd start the new thread with Gwen's title now in case I fill the other one with my moaning.

I'll do the stats at a more normal time of day unless anyone else does it first.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
gwenniebee · 22/06/2012 12:28

Congratulations pink :)

Emblosion and coops yep, I'm still here...... feel like things are niggling away but nothing is really happening (aside from a bizarre stinging type spasm as I attempted to turn over in bed last night, causing me to shriek in pain and poor DH to have the fright of his life Blush). Baby has also been much quieter (well, stiller, but you know what I mean) over the last 48 hours. Not sure whether I just can't feel the movements as much owing to the pickles (forgot other people don't refer to them as BPs, hehe) or what. Hmph. Am a little "something's up" about the whole thing but it seems really, really silly to bother mw with a "it just all feels a bit weird" type query. And DH who is much more sensible than I am would probably just laugh at me.

Coops I think your plan is awesome. I need to get DH to agree to spending Christmas with my parents now, just so I can join in with this. Couldn't possibly behave like that with my ILs, but my own parents understand the importance of sherry/champers on these occasions Wink

gwenniebee · 22/06/2012 12:28

Ooh JWC that is gorgeous. I like :)

Kveta · 22/06/2012 12:32

gwennie go and get checked out! i'm the biggest skeptic in the world, but even I say that your gut instinct should be trusted in pregnancy. always always always better safe than sorry!

emblosion · 22/06/2012 12:49

Yup defo give midwife a call gwennie I'm sure it'll be ok, but it'll put your mind at rest.

I mentioned to midwife y'day that I'd had slightly less movement and she told me off for not phoning her (was trying not to be neurotic!). I've started keeping a movement diary as I think I'm not paying attention a lot of the time - got told should have at least ten movements in 12 hrs...

emblosion · 22/06/2012 12:58

Oops posted too soon!

coops am loving your plan for Christmas Day! Imagine the bliss of a nice, cold, g&t! Especially after a booze free Christmas last year...

Have had 2 cups rlt, half a pineapple (saved rest for later but then DH ate some!) And bounced on ball for a while. No result!

Have decided to head out bravely and go and buy some baby blankets and pram sized sheets. Weather is atrocious here-wind, rain and the works.

Cat is in disgrace as I found her curled up in the Moses basket (luckily plastic wrapper still on it!). She definitely knows somethings up I think & keeps looking st me v suspiciously....

CathFin · 22/06/2012 14:22

Quick update from me! Not the most stress free scenario with DS and DH on children's ward at luckily the same hosp I was delivering at... Went to bed Weds night after stressful day with wheezy DS and knew I was having the odd contraction but by that point determined to hold off until the morning! Woke at 1 am then 3 am and at 4 am had couple more contractions and I was pretty sure as soon as I got out of bed I would be all stations go!
Stressed a bit as I was on my own with DD at home.
Got up at 4.30 am and went straight to 3 contractions every 10 mins! Rang neighbour who kindly stepped up to our emergency situation, and then labour ward who said to come in. Had a shower! Got dressed, got DD up, took her to neighbours so her husband could take her to play school. Finally got to hosp just after 6am... Just breathing through the contractions... Took ages for someone to see me, prob an hour as somehow the message hadn't got across that I was in labour!! Anyway I was 9cm dilated! It slowed down a bit then, probably because I relaxed a bit, when they checked me at about 8.30 am I hadn't progressed so they were going to break my waters but I got off all fours and sat on the ball for a bit and obviously did the trick, started pushing, got back on the bed, waters went, mec everywhere, midwife trying to get sensors on me, beat her to it, 2 pushes and the head was half out, 1 more and the rest whooshed out!

Our neighbour stayed with me for the whole thing, DH was there for the important bits, DS stayed happily on his ward, all worked out fine!

Benedict pooing for Britain, glad to have 24 hours in hosp because of the mec, all a bit mental now we are all home!
Sorry for the epic post, hope everyone else who is waiting doesn't have long left!

DairyNips · 22/06/2012 14:42

Wow, what a story Cathfin! Glad it all worked out in the end. Well done! Can't believe you managed to sort your dd and get to hosp all whilst in labour! Lovely name, glad you're back home now.Smile

emblosion · 22/06/2012 14:44

cathfin phew sounds exhausting! So glad you are all back home and doing well x

gwenniebee · 22/06/2012 16:44

Ooh cathfin that's definitely a good story! How is DS1 now?

I had a friend round with her month old baby this afternoon and have felt mine wiggle a little more and am feeling a bit more chilled out.... possibly I was over thinking earlier..... not sure.... anyhow, BabyBee definitely wiggling so I think he/she is fine.

Right. Am getting seriously pissed off with the neighbour who is putting stuff in the wheely bin at about 60 second intervals with the accompanying slap of said wheely bin lid going down each time. Prop the effing thing up!! The neighbour also has a nervous habit of clearing his throat about every 30 seconds which is really irritating if we're sitting in our garden (terraced houses, gardens are absolutely side by side). It's a "gentleman couple" who live next door and they whinge incessantly when we can hear the children in the garden on the other side of them about the noise, even though the kids are just being toddlers. I am gritting my teeth for the day they speak to me about the baby crying.... at which point I shall remind them of their bin slapping and throat clearing Angry

Phew. Feel better for that. :)

I polished the silver earlier. Is this a sign? [hopeful face]

crackersncheese · 22/06/2012 17:21

Hi to all the stragglers, not many of us left now.

cathfin glad everyone's home and well
coops your Christmas plans are fantastic, We're going to the ILs and I think they'd positively encourage me sitting in the corner with a bottle . Cheered me up just thinking about it

6 days over today, feeling ok but so fed up, at least DPs off for the weekend for a bit of distraction.

Had a sweep this morning, midwife was early when she's never normally less than a couple of hours late so hadn't even had breakfast. Getting fiddled about with without even a cup of tea for preparation was not the best start to a Friday morning. She said it went well, cervix still long but open so maybe one day I'l have this baby.

Off to the pub. Hope everyone has a nice weekend and lots a newborn baby cuddles xxxx

rhibutterfly · 22/06/2012 18:33

God i go away to have a baby and the thread goes nuts, lol.
Congratulations to all the new mamas and arrivals and sympathy to all those still hanging in there xx
Devan Lowri was born on 15th June at 12.31pm by c section weighing 7lb 13oz but she looks tiny, mini me of her dad and a little angel xx

surfmama · 22/06/2012 19:32

oh my. baby surf born at 1145 today 6lb 5oz very very cute. don't fancy that again...!

DairyNips · 22/06/2012 20:04

Surf Massive congratulations! Well done on surviving back to back, not fun! Can't wait to see pics and hear what name you chooseSmile

emblosion · 22/06/2012 23:42

Congratulations surf sounds like hard work, but hope you are getting some well earned rest and recovery now!

gwennie glad Babybee has been more wriggly, I totally know where you are coming from as mine seems to have definite quiet periods requiring me to drink ice water, lie down, poke bump etc until I feel something. DH has been known to tell me off for prodding bump too vigorously!

Hi crackers hope you get some results from the sweep!

McKayz · 23/06/2012 06:37

Congratulations Surf

Is anyone who is as overdue as me feeling a bit crazy? I am now one week over and could cry. I actually do not want to get out of bed today because I dread the 'interest' from my family, in laws and any other person. I feel like a failure. Am cursing my stupid fat stubborn body that will not go into labour and I dread having to go through another day, a weekend and God knows how many more days of this hellish waiting. I know I am just feeling sorry for myself but I gave just had enough. Have been having a show over the last few days since wednesday night and a few pains but that's it. My ds was one week late and it looks like I will end up being induced on Tuesday is nothing happens.

Coops79 · 23/06/2012 10:14

Fluffymitchell I'm a couple of days behind you. I'm so sorry you're having such a miserable time. I totally understand how annoying it is to be constantly questioned; I'm finding it's bringing out more fury and frustration than upset for me at the moment. I imagine that'll change as it goes on longer. You're not a failure, your baby just isn't quite ready to come out yet - please don't beat yourself up.

All I can say is that you're not on your own and recommend that you keep yourself busy (I am also sick of being told this but I think it's probably wise!). You're doing better than me if you're having a show. Have a little cry if you need to and bear in mind that bonkers hormones are probably a really good sign that stuff is happening.

Feel free to PM me if you want to rant.
Chin up.
xxx

FluffyMitchell · 23/06/2012 10:41

Oh coops thank you for kind words, just had a bit of a cry and decided I need to get up and dressed and get on with my day. No point moping around because that won't make baby FLuffy appear any quicker. Hopefully will have done good news to report soon!

DairyNips · 23/06/2012 10:46

Hey those of you who are waiting for your babies to arrive and are thoroughly fed up, don't forget there's also this threadSmile It really helped me to just be able to moan away in the last few weeksGrin

gwenniebee · 23/06/2012 11:23

Poor you fluffy :( It's so frustrating not knowing when it's going to happen, isn't it? And feeling like an elephant doesn't help. Having a show has got to be a good sign though...

Hello coops and emblosion! We're still here! Crackers I wonder whether you're still here too... and hope for your sake that you're not!

The last of our NCT group babies was born last night, bang on due date. Just us to go now. All of them have been either bang on or a day or two early, they've all also been essentially straightforward deliveries. I'm clearly going to be the token massively overdue traumatic birth at the end....................... every group's got to have one, right? Am just hoping BabyBee has taken some notice of his/her little friends and doesn't want to let them down!

DH and I are having an unspoken stand-off, I think. I am determined to get active, go for a long walk, drink RLT etc because I am fed up with this and the constant and rather painful contractions turning into nothing as soon as I relax... but of course he wants the baby to stay put til Monday evening! Anyway, I have won the first battle and we are going to Ashridge for a walk Wink He will undoubtedly win the rest of the day because this will exhaust me and I shall just crash on the sofa, no doubt. Ho-hum!

Coops79 · 23/06/2012 12:26

Dairynips thanks for that; really helpful!

Gwenniebee good morning! I'm quite glad I didn't join an NCT group now you've said that... Don't think I'd cope very well with being the last of the gang. My DH is determined that we must get him out this weekend because otherwise he won't be in work on doughnut day and this will apparently be a travesty of epic proportions. Interesting the priorities our chaps have isn't it?! Have a lovely walk; I might think about doing the same.

Crackersandcheese hello! Hope the sweep has started to have an effect. I'm really unwilling to have one just cos I don't want anyone else fiddling up there unless absolutely necessary. I may get less fussy as the days progress.

I made the mistake of catching up with Eastenders (something I've only really started doing since being preggers so please don't judge me; it's the hormones I swear!) which had Janine going into labour early with a ruptured placenta. This was not a wise thing to watch. Am going to have to listen to lots of cheesy hypno-birthing affirmations to counteract that one.

Have done some half-arsed gardening (in my world this means hacking my way through the undergrowth and picking some strawberries) but was rained off. Contemplating wandering into town but really hoping that DH might offer to do it instead while I lounge about for the rest of the day. Last night I did get a bit of an insight when we were watching telly and a character mentioned how sick cooking made her feel during the early days of pregnancy. DH looked at me and said "did you feel like that"? I thought it was BLOODY OBVIOUS I felt like that for the whole of the first 14 weeks. I was crying and complaining most of the time but it clearly completely passed him by. In fairness he did look utterly distraught that he hadn't noticed and quite guilty that I had been doing all the cooking...

Clearly the lesson here is that I must make much more of a fuss about every ache, pain and twinge if I want to get any sort of sympathy.

Have a lovely day everyone.
:-)

Miniangel · 23/06/2012 13:21

fluffy I know exactly how you feel as I am in the same boat, will be induced on tues if nothing happens. I am trying to keep busy and going to the cinema later to tempt fate. Hang in there, we will cuddle our LOs soon.

Hope things are moving for crackers.

A big wave and hello to everyone else who is left.

TeaandHobnobs · 23/06/2012 16:21

Coops I made the mistake of watching EastEnders on Friday, as I was interested to see how they handled premature birth, but did not expect it to be so close to my experience Sad definitely counteract with hypnobirthing affirmations!

emblosion · 23/06/2012 16:52

Hi all, am still here getting increasingly impatient and grumpy. Official due date today, go me!

No action here, have had a few cramps but nothing appears to be coming if them- I just feel heavy and exhausted!

Went into town today to do a bit of shopping and had to come almost straight home as was so tired! Am fed up if only being able to walk at the speed of a snail whilst waddling from side to side.

DH rather hopefully suggested sex to get the baby out. I gave him a look of death, lol, but may reconsider if nothing happens in a day or so! (why can'tchocolate bring on labour? Why?)

Cheery supportive wave to all the stragglers!

10000fireflies · 23/06/2012 23:46

Evening all. On bb so can barely read this so keeping it short! Baby Boy Fireflies arrived 10pm 21 June, significantly on the longest day. Traumatic emcs, but all's well that ends well. He is gorgeous! Hugs to all and more of an update when back home in day or so.
