Hi everyone, as we were close to the 1000 message limit i thought i should start a new thread so we could link this one (and we don't all end up wandering in cyberspace for a few days again Grin)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Cookiesandcream06 · 29/06/2012 18:22

Oh and bubbles maybe do some research and ask on mumsnet for recommendations in your area? Mumsnet = bible and you won't get ripped off Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 29/06/2012 18:33

You could ask for a nice blanket, a keepsake box, a kit to do hand and foot prints with, Lamaze toys are great for babies even really tiny ones. I just think clothes can be hard because Babies grow so quickly it's nice to have some things that last Smile

MyDaydream · 29/06/2012 18:34

My DP is happy to go along with anything if it makes me happy (within reason) so I don't have to convince him of stuff. I do tend to talk myself out of things, I'm more worried about the cost of the pram now than he is. 4d gender scan was one of the things I talked myself out of, although MILs insistence she wanted 'one of those 4d photos' without considering the cost to us did help matters.
I got told at work today that you could see the start of my bump. Think it's getting there, I'm having a big day and ive not really ocerindulged.

MyDaydream · 29/06/2012 18:42

Bubbles you could always find lots of things you want online and put them on a wish list all together. I'm giving everyone a specific item but only family has asked so far, and we have a good idea of their budgets. Just make sure there's a full range of prices/items. Or just thank them for the gesture and say you'll have a think and let them know, there's still 6 months to go no rush.

SpottyTeacakes · 29/06/2012 19:13

Have put a pic up. Wish list is a good idea if you have lots of people asking you what they can get!

HoneyMum21 · 29/06/2012 19:48

Think DHis coming round to the idea...! Has anyone else used BabyBond for private scans?
I think my bump is looking bump-like but it may be the Feast ice-creams which have become my new addiction. Whoops.
Going to a wedding on tuesday and have no idea what to wear. I have a nice black maternity dress but don't think it's very weddingy. I bought a cheap purple maternity maxi-dress from new look but i think it's going back cos it's far too long. My normal dresses don't fit anymore, but the maternity stuff is generally too big. Humph!

itsMYNutella · 29/06/2012 20:02

Evening ladies, or girlies, whichever you prefer :)
Blimey there is a lot of catching up to do!

Stacks thanks for the offer of postage! That is genuinely lovely and sweet of you! I only have brothers and it's amazing if they send me presents (apart from little brother, he and his OH are the sweetest) let alone anything extra (MEN! )

Jojo and Bubbless I'm glad it made you smile and I'm not the only nutter Wink But they learn a lot of english here at school so I'm sure they must know what suck and dick mean in English as individual words.... although they probably haven't noticed the meaning if you put the two words together.... perhaps I should have re-arranged the pictures??
Maybe if I go back I'll do that

Just been swimming and DP very diplomatically said I looked pregnant not fat :o but he is well trained so rather unreliable!

Love the bump Spotty so cute!!

CODwidow · 29/06/2012 20:17

I've used baby bond Smile

HoneyMum21 · 29/06/2012 20:22

How was it COD?

CODwidow · 29/06/2012 20:24

It was good, staff were really nice

JoJoB77 · 29/06/2012 20:40

I used Baby Bond too, in Birmingham. We had it around the 28 week mark just for the 4D image, we didnt find out the sex. The staff were lovely & we had a lot longer than we paid for but think we were lucky that time.

Would definitely recommend.

brooke89 · 29/06/2012 20:40

Spotty definite bump! I've put a pic up of mine too!

honey - what about a normal maxi dress in the size up from usual?

gils - good luck with the move, we're moving next friday and i'm not looking forward to it at all. I'm also under strict orders that i'll only be able to delegate!

Thanks for all the support ladies, going to have to have a look into things when back at work on Monday - although i am quite tempted to be a lady of leisure...for the time being Grin

Cookiesandcream06 · 29/06/2012 20:41

Baby bond is who I'm having mine with tomorrow.. I shall report back Smile

itsMYNutella · 29/06/2012 20:49

I should clarify: I have only brothers who live in the UK. Mum lives in France and is happy to give you gifts when she sees you rather than post anything.... Hmm

Clarella · 29/06/2012 22:28

Wow spotty, that's a bump!

Loving ongoing suck and Dick discussion. You'll have to scream for them during labour.

Following post deluge binge of fish and chips plus lemon cakes (still on the citrus) my bump has risen from nowhere and was protruding past my boobs (from my angle) at swimming - quite proud as looked obviously preggers rather than someone who likes her pies (as my bum currently declares). Need to begin capturing it I guess! Hope still there tomorrow as been feeling a fraud at preg. Yoga.

Baby bond .... argh there's one 5 mins walk from me I spotted today! Trying to resist! 20 wk scan on 12th July! Can they tell you medical stuff though? Eg I still sometimes niggle that it is possible for me to have caught slapped cheek since my tests if in the tiniest of possibilities baby caught it it would get hydrops, visible by scan. (stupid I know, not caught it in 35 years but ignorance was definately bliss) not that id go at the mo for that but if I got stupidly panicky later....

ISpyPlumPie · 29/06/2012 22:58

Just catching up on the posts from the last couple of days.

Sorry to hear that so many of you are having trouble with hip/back pain. I've been pretty lucky with that so far, but can certainally relate to the tiredness that others describe. I went to bed stupidly early last night but still felt completely shattered this morning - might be time to get my iron levels checked again.

Brooke - that's really sad news about your job. Hope the union gives you some helpful advice.

Thanks for all the tips about maternity jeans everyone. Think I need some soon. The under the bump pair I kept from last time keep falling down and the over the bump pair seem too far long in the leg (surely I can't have shrunk Confused). Perhaps I bought them much later on when my bump was huge and pulled them up more or something.

Bump is definitely starting to grow which is exciting, but I'm also a little bit anxious because I'm a bridesmaid next week and we ordered the dresses before I even knew I was pregnant! Went to the shop last week to quickly check I could still get into it, and it was ok then but I'm convinced I'm much bigger already. The final fitting is tomorrow so fingers crossed as I don't think they'd be able to do much now if it won't fit.

StrawberrytallCAKE · 29/06/2012 23:45

I am having my scan with a local clinic I used for nuchal and viability scan...it's at 10.15. Looking forward to hearing your news Cookies I can't believe I'm going to know the baby a bit more.

My dh was dead against finding out as we didn't with dd. It took a lot of wearing down and showing him how rough morning sickness was to change his mind. I think at one point I may have refused to give birth unless he agrees to find out. He's really excited now though.

Queenofsiburbia · 30/06/2012 06:57

:) at threatening strike action on giving birth to get own way. I like that strategy!

honey they have 2 gorgeous maxi dresses on ASOS for £50 each which would be lovely for a wedding, they're in the maternity section. They have other shorter dresses too but IKWYM about maternity dresses being crazy big at moment.

However... Last night my tummy looked so sticky-outy I thought I must be 6months! Maybe it's time to dig out that maternity dress after all.

Am I only person waiting to find out gender at the end? I never think of myself as patient but maybe I am!

Congrats spotty on getting out of working for horrible boss! My DH also on stag this weekend, luckily an English one this time not a ridiculously and unnecessarily expensive foreign one

Is it bad we left on baddish terms? I was feeling the hormones yesterday and very very depressed and crying all day about certain things and he now very sad about me & said unable to have a good time, even after pints Hmm

Feel guilty that he's sad & pretty sure he will manage to have a good time on a stag (not too much!) but still feel my own reasons were true and not made up. I do think pregnancy, like pmt, makes things feel worse than perhaps they are though!

Keep feeling baby, is he/she thumping on wall saying 'go back to sleep its Saturday!!!'?

SpottyTeacakes · 30/06/2012 07:18

There's no baby bond near me, which means no temptation! Got to wait until August.

Dp is on an English one too, he was nervous because he's not very good at drinking Grin I'm sure your dp will have a good time and you get to enjoy having the bed to yourself!

I also have a wedding in three weeks no idea what to wear will have to be a maxi dress as no doubt my ankles will be huge by the end of the day Hmm

Queenofsiburbia · 30/06/2012 07:32

Try phase 8 as they have a sale on. I got this dress:

www.phase-eight.co.uk/fcp/product/phase-eight/All-Sale/Caprice-Print-Dress/201645000

For ascot & it's perfect as light & roomy and the waist tie is actually really high. It's prettier than it looks in the photo.
They only have a couple of sizes online but stores may have more.

Must admit it was nice having bed to myself last night. & didn't wake up to pee until 6am!

ISpyPlumPie · 30/06/2012 08:24

Hope you're feeling better soon Queen. Definitely agree that hormones can do funny things to you, like super-charged pmt. With DS I'd get overwhelmed an tearful much more easily than normal but this time I seem to be getting more angry and frustrated with things instead. Could almost give DS a run for his money in the tantrum stakes on occasion Grin

Clarella · 30/06/2012 08:42

Oh dear queen, send him an encouraging 'I'm fine love you' text or a call - in my experience stag weekends reset men's minds to 'cave man on a mission' pretty quickly, remind him its hormones making you see everything much more darkly.

For eg: burst into floods of tears about a neighbour's comment about needing to get rid of roses in the front garden cos of impending baby (only grass will be at front when all sorted, whole drive needs redoing and there's quite few roses.) Not massively into roses but wanted to keep a couple, also I grew up with roses and I'm fine!

ope all goes well with scans today :) we've been umming about finding out - the 12wk scan pics look soooo boy like I think we will just cos its niggling, if we can. We swing a bit but i know simply for me the 'surprise' bit won't work. I'm already imagining a baby boy so think it wise to get it confirmed either way!

itsMYNutella · 30/06/2012 08:44

Clarella that is brilliant! If I remember it when the times come I would be more than tempted :o

Oh and re swollen ankles etc, I have dodgy leg veins anyway which means I get bad cramps and so I (am supposed to) wear compression stockings every day. I don't mind them, I have a couple of pairs in black (other colours available) which I wear under jeans or whatever when it isn't too hot. To me they look like normal but slightly thicker knee high stockings... Anyway, you can normally get them prescribed by the dr and they really help.

I have a wedding to go to in September so I'm absolutely sure there is no point in me dress shopping yet Confused. Sad that I can't drink, I'm damn sure it will be the most expensive wedding we have been to and I know they are going to have some lovely prosecco there :( we helped out earlier in the year with some tasting :o

itsMYNutella · 30/06/2012 08:46

Clarella you swing?! I'm sorry I couldn't help it :o

itsMYNutella · 30/06/2012 08:47

"We swing a bit but i know simply for me the 'surprise' bit won't work."
