(apologies for spellings too)

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 29/06/2012 10:04

Sorry I'm crap at emoticons that was supposed to be a shocked confused face.

Really sad jojo :(

Queenofsiburbia · 29/06/2012 10:50

jojo I was thinking of you when I heard that news & cant believe how close you are. Hope all ok.

clarella I should probably clarify that am no longer in Shrops and now live in south east, hence hosepipe ban!

JoJoB77 · 29/06/2012 11:17

Yeah all ok here thanks Queen Smile i didnt set foot out of the house all day. Although i feel like a caged animal now so going to venture out after DD's dinner and nap.

On an entirely seperate note, my GHD's have just given up the ghost (disaster emoticon). Does anyone have a recommendations for a new pair, pref cheaper than GHD's??

Barbeasty · 29/06/2012 11:48

Brooke- have a careful look at timings too, because they could still be liable for maternity pay, and a redundancy payout could boost the level of pay they owe you (don't know if it counts, but I know that if you're paid a bonus in the weeks used to calculate your pay sand the 90% it counts towards your average salary).

Can't remember who asked, but no my blood pressure is 85/60.

Barbeasty · 29/06/2012 11:51

strawberry they don't do icandy in mothercare. I know John Lewis have them, otherwise look on their website for stockists. They're a bit funny and won't let anyone sell them online, so you have to go into a shop to look at them.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 29/06/2012 12:48

Jojo I don't know how expensive they are but a friends ghds died and she bought could 9s and swears by them now, might be worth a look!

Started the glossing in the hallway, actually have done quite a lot then realised how much there is to do lol gotta dog walk in a min though so taking a break!

Big round tummy today Grin

Glad everyone is ok after the bad weather, must have been so scary for you

Bubbless · 29/06/2012 13:05

im not being funny- but we only had light drizzle here!?

ive been looking at pushchairs and stuff online, but me and DP were going to wait until i was showing to have a look- for some reason i still feel like a traitor in mothercare :/

knotty hair- better than average = better than most! congrats :)

does anyone have any advice on CHEAP maternity jeans, like.. under £20 that dont look horrific?!

brooke- made redundant?! so unfair, do you have transferable skills? my thoughts always are ive been made redundant a lot.. that the unemployed always have nicer things than me anyway, youll survive! --although im aware this doesnt help now, un-MNtty hugs

nutella- i would also find this truly laugh out loud funny- your not the only one, but what makes it funnier is that they probs dont know what it means in our language!!

jojo- i found the argos ones really good, lemme find the link- okay, i cant! but have a look because theres loads at like 20ish at 'better than half price!'

sorry, my replies are always so much longer! thread moves too fast!

ive had real trouble with my sick pay this month, only got 235... whats that all about?!?!?!?!? eurghgh

CODwidow · 29/06/2012 14:18

bubbles new look do jeans and they look pretty good for £15.

My little vests and sleepsuits came today that I bought from eBay really sweet watching ds4 getting all excited and folding them up Smile

My tummy is rounder today but that could change by tonight it seems to change shape most of the day. Still not needing maternity trousers but must get some this weekend ready.

4 weeks left til scan day Grin

StrawberrytallCAKE · 29/06/2012 15:26

Thanks, didn't bother with mothercare in the end but did pop into boots and noticed that they do ready made formula in sterilised bottles with teat, this makes me happy as night time feeds used to hurt so much.

My tummy is big, yesterday it went really hard but today it looks more fatty than preggy.

Gender scan in the morning. Woo hoo!

Bubbless · 29/06/2012 15:33

i wasnt really going to buy much in the way of clothing cod, i was told that most people buy baby clothes as presents so enough for the first 2-3 days is all we really need to buy... its this true or should i start shopping?!?!

my tummy was 'pregnant' and hard yesterday, today its flabby.. grr!!

strawb good luck for gender scan, got your heart set either way? or just happy to see a baby?!?! my DP at the first scan said 'omg, it looks like a baby' and the sonographer replies 'were you expecting a goat?' Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 29/06/2012 15:56

I hardly got any clothes bought for dd.

I would advise A couple of packs of sleep suits (sainsburys are really good) a pack of short sleeved vests and a pack of long sleeved vests. And a couple of cardis incase it's cold? That's what I'd go for Smile

Also people tend to buy outfits rather than nice baby grows etc

StrawberrytallCAKE · 29/06/2012 16:04

I am excited either way. I would love another girl because my dd is so amazing and wonderful it's hard not to want another one like her but I would also love a boy as it's our last baby and if there's no boy this time there never will be! It'll be great to know which clothes to window shop on the Internet every night Grin.

We had loads of clothes bought for us Bubbless but not all necessarily practical, you can always get more if you need them though! Agree with spotty on the sleepsuits and vests. Make sure you take a cardi and hat into hospital as I took everything but and dd ended up in lost property hat and cardi...ahhh lost property baby.

HoneyMum21 · 29/06/2012 16:45

After waiting 3 weeks I've finally got my combined test results today as 1:5000. I know this is good so why I am still worried? To me this result still sounds high. Sorry, I know I'm being neurotic. Why am I still worrying?

Cookiesandcream06 · 29/06/2012 16:50

strawberry I have a gender scan tomorrow too! So excited. I really don't know either way, I'm in the same boat- this will be my last so a ds would be lovely to have one of each but needs to share with dd so girl would be easier.

Agreed bubbles people buy things you don't need and that aren't practical, eg I put dd in an outfit bought by xx when we went to visit them, and that was prob the only time she wore it! A good few baby grows, vests a hat, blanket and a cardi as it will be Dec and cold. If you're a serial purchaser like me, I bought things like vests in varying sizes Blush it cured my pregnancy nesting shopping habits without buying stuff I didn't need.

minipie · 29/06/2012 16:56

Honey 1:5000 is 0.02 percent, so there is a 99.98 % chance your baby does not have DS. Does that sound better? Grin

Ooh exciting about the gender scans! I already know the bean is a girl due to the CVS I had but looking forward to finding out what flavour some of yours are!

CODwidow · 29/06/2012 17:04

I just found hardly anyone apart from my mum bought vests or sleepsuits they all bought mini outfits which were massive! So I'm not going mad I've got about 15 vests and only 3 sleepsuits so far but I am a total control freak when pregnant so like to know I have a few things myself Smile
My mum has just asked me to make a list of stuff so she can make me up a box of stuff like the sling I've been looking at and good old' nipple cream Grin

JoJoB77 · 29/06/2012 17:31

I'm glad to be hearing of your differing tummy states as i'd dtarted to worry that something wasn't right. Somedays my tummy looks pregnant but others it looks like normal but with a bit of flab.

Also, i was convinced that i had felt baby move for a few weeks now but havent felt anything for a few days. Well i don't think i have as now i'm thinking it was wind before Grin

We have loads of DD's babygros but i will have to get some new ones...Grin

gilsbubbles · 29/06/2012 17:53

Moving day tomorrow and since I've between banned from lifting anything (and I'm a bit of a control freak) it could be a very very long day

HoneyMum21 · 29/06/2012 18:03

Thanks Minipie looking at it like that does help. I know i'm being neurotic and i shouldn't be worried about it but for some reason i can't stop worrying.

On a more fun note - i'm realy trying to convince DH to go for a private gender scan. He's just had a tax rebate so even though we're fairly skint we could afford it - just - but the sensible part of both of us knows the money could usefully go elsewhere but i really want to know! How did anyone else convince DPs to go for the gender scan?

SpottyTeacakes · 29/06/2012 18:06

I couldn't convince my dp. But I have just convinced him to let me give up work once dc2 is born GrinGrinGrinGrin

I'm tempted to put a photo of my massive 14 week bump up Smile

Dp is off in a stag do today.

Good luck with the move bubbles are you looking forward to being in your new place?

Bubbless · 29/06/2012 18:20

there is loaaaads of baby stuff in morrisons at the mo at really good prices!!

mhm, this is true. so il just buy practical stuff and let other people buy the pretty bits!
also, (i may be being unreasonable..) what can i put on a list for other people to get me? friends are asking so i dont buy it etc etc.. whats present ettiquet?! (s?)

honey i want a private gender scan as well, and dp is undecided! ive looked into it but i have no idea which websites are scams etc, how do you tell?! most of the websites just dont look real..

spotty i was planning on quitting work after DC1 regardless of what DP thinks! because im in such a low income job (10000 max py!) it would be stupid to consider childcare.. am hoping it will be rewarding and il still have you to MN when the going gets tough ;)

Cookiesandcream06 · 29/06/2012 18:20

Do it spotty I want to see some bumps! Mine is a 'fat' day today, just flab.

It was only 70 something and 4d so we went halves. When I think back to how much money I wasted on drinking, smoking, clothes, going out etc it really doesn't seem too much of a crime to fork out £35-40 although I do know it's not necessary. I might treat myself to some gender specific baby grows after Grin nothing wrong with colour neutral in the slightest I just like to colour co-ordinate myself
