Queenofsiburbia · 30/06/2012 09:05

Thank you, it's very nice to have very understanding comments. Im at mothers lovely cottage now & sun is sort of out abit watery tho' so things look alot better!

Please do keep the roses clarella, I wish we had some in our windswept garden. They're not triffids..!

And keep swinging ;-)

JoJoB77 · 30/06/2012 09:54

Morning all

I can totally relate to the ragibg hirmones, you are most definitely not alone Queen! My DH as understanding as he is he sometimes despairs of me and my irrational ourbursts. I sobbed like a baby earlier in the week when i dropped half of our supper on the kitchen floor. I was so hungry it really upset me Grin come to think of it, i've dropped and broken a few things this week... We'll need to buy new glasses soon the rate i'm going.

We are not finding out the sex this time either. I'm really looking forward to the surprise Smile

Hope all scans go well today & you all have a lovely Saturday Smile

JoJoB77 · 30/06/2012 09:55

Sorry about the typos, i blame my phone (not my fat butter fingers)

PurplePidjin · 30/06/2012 10:54

I wish I had a proper garden. Keep the roses, by the time dc are old enough to play there unsupervised they'll understand about not touching anyway. I grow fruit and veg in pots on my part of the communal balcony and none of the neighbouring kids touch (well, the properly brought up ones we have now!)

DP is black and I'm not, so we reckon we'll have enough surprises when PidjChick shows up without gender being one of them!

Is it Brooke who's been made redundant? I signed on yesterday (temp work has dried up) and they were fine about me being pg - i made it clear that i was happy to look but had no realistic expectations that an employer would want to hire me, especially one that'll both let me off work for 6 months then pay enough to cover nursery fees when I go back! I'll have a look for a summer bar job or something, but i can officially go onto Mat pay from 14/9 so not really long enough to be constructive :o

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 30/06/2012 10:57

queen we're not finding out the sex either. I did with my other 2 for many reasons but really looking forward to a surprise this time :)

clarella why oh why would you have to get rid of your roses? I have loads, love them and will not be getting rid of them, my kids have survived!

Have been cracking on with the glossing and my hallway is transformed, need to buy the paint today and it will be sticky finger mark free (we're in a rented house and the current paint comes off if I try and remove marks, so I'm buying washable paint) having a bit of trouble having my hands above my head for too long, although I get to see nice stars lol!

My dads coming down tues to put a new light in my old office do D'S can have it as a bedroom so from this week my house will be upside down lol the joys! Can't wait till its all sorted though! Going to paint the nursery white with a rainbow up the walls and over the ceiling!

Can't wait to hear news from today's gender scans!

spotty- oh there good ideas! i was kinda worried they were going to want to buy like.. changing mats- which im already looking at buying!! just looked at your photo... YOUR PREGNANT! aha, im literally still just fat :(

mydaydream- yeah, a selection of prices should cover everyone, i was just concerned that id buy all 'present' items! morrisons have got a really good sale on at the mo, and im looking at picking up some bits :D

nutella- i think its almost worse if they understand it! bless 'em, very unfortunate names! deff re-arrange photos!!!!

brooke- being able to direct during a move sounds like my idea of heaven! saying this im rather OCD about organisation! me and DP have decided to stay in our flat for another year, but im pushing for part buy part rent.. has anyone else done this? :/ might post in relevant section about it later..

clarella- i know what you mean about feeling like a fraud- i refuse to go into mothercare until im showing XD

strawberry- refused to give birth?! i love this as a negotiation tactic! may use that in future baby related 'persuasion!'

queen- pregnancy for me has been like 3 months of severe pmt- i cried hysterically last night because the corner of the duvet wasnt in the corner of the duvet cover, my DP looked at me like i was loosing my mind.. then i made him fix it before i had a breakdown whoops? aha.

"we swing a bit.." thats made my entire morning Grin

going to investigate part buy part rent today + babybond!
hope everyone has a good day :D

Clarella · 30/06/2012 11:15

How rude! Lol!

I've always secretly likes compression socks since had some on flight to Africa - my mother had terrible veins with us and has always banged on about putting feet up etc, (first thing says on phone now). when thyroid bad I always hold water a bit and sometimes like them on, quite rarely though. one thing I discovered last year when trying to sort hips out was that swimming with a kickboard, kicking legs kind wobbles your lower leg muscles if quite fast seem loads better afterwards.

been looking at front gardens with children and roses.....

Clarella · 30/06/2012 11:17

Now re-reading for double entendres...

Clarella · 30/06/2012 11:30

Omg I didn't see all the other posts about swinging lol! Blush

neighbour also commented 'do you know what's poisonous? Grandson been sticking loans if garden stuff in moth already' (as I lovingly steadied a fox glove and remembered the fox glove seeds I've just bought in a funky colour) Ok to my mind, the best way to teach a child about nasty plants is probably keeping roses (some need to go as a regular battle to weed and want some apple trees) a couple of scratches while young will teach them in my book. (is that terrible?!) I am.totally aware of the dangers - autistic 8 yr old at work chomped up a yew berry on a school trip, (in a children's play park!) I was only one who knew it might be an issue and Google/touch phone luckily get her to the hospital in time (seed bad, red bit good) but I grew up around so many plants and trees, developing a healthy respect for what is ok or not (nettles are especially good for this) that I almost feel is wrong NOT to expose baby to a few roses! ffs daffodils are mega poisonous!

Rant over. Time for second breakfast.

Clarella · 30/06/2012 11:33

Most nurseries have fire bowls for the same purposes. Plus her grandson gets to play with grandad's tools (inc chainsaw)

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 30/06/2012 11:33

Bubbles from experience part buy part rent is awful. You have no control over the increase in rent each year (ours started at 260 a month and when I sold it 3 yrs later was 500) it is a complete bugger to sell if you want to move (you have to get official valuation at £150 a pop every 3 months while it's for sale, the housing association have 3 months to sell it through their website before you can try and they will charge you 1% of the purchase price for the privilege if they do, if they don't you can then sell through an estate agent but if you take anything below that official valuation it comes out of the percentage you own, none comes from the housing associations share)

Sorry for the long post but please think carefully before entering into thus. I did it with XH thinking we could buy more, then he left, I was stuck there and had A LOT of hassle trying to get out of it. As of feb this year I'm free of it and soooooo glad!

I just changed dd's cot into a bed all by myself GrinGrin

A bit of swearing and one broken nail later! I did put on end on the wrong way but dp can change that tomorrow Wink

Bubbless · 30/06/2012 12:12

stacey- thank you so much! DP has horrific credit history so it would all have to be in my name, but with him paying for the majority! im glad someones put it all into perspective. it just makes me so angry sad (?) that im paying out 300 (each, 600 in total) on rent pm and at the end we have nothing to show for it.. what other ways is there to get onto the housing market?!?!

well done spotty and im sure your dd wont KNOW the end is on wrong, all dandy!

im feeling really rather ill today :S

CODwidow · 30/06/2012 12:15

There is something called homebuy which means you own all the property but the government and builder put in 85% meaning you need a much lower deposit that is replacing part buy part rent eventually. Might be worth a look Smile

SpottyTeacakes · 30/06/2012 12:30

Bubless I feel your pain I hate paying rent! We could only get a mortgage for about £100000 with me working two days a week and that wouldn't even buy us a shed round here!

itsMYNutella · 30/06/2012 12:35

Since I outgrew my last maternity bra I'm shopping for a new one. I normally wear 36D/34DD. Except that in Germany DD doesn't exist!
So pop into a store and figure I'll get measured. Young woman measures me and says I need 90(40inch) band. Obviously she guesses at cup size and brings me B/C. Kept telling her they don't fit and that 90 was too big. Of course they looked hideous and gave no support; because they were too big!
Left in the end and am shopping on my own for 38D. Lovely fit. Comfortable and feel supported Grin
I might actually buy one. But I'll be ordering the rest online. AIBU to expect to be supported and wear something I like, in a size I think fits me?

StrawberrytallCAKE · 30/06/2012 12:52

We are renting at the moment too. Dh lost his job just as we sold our house so we had to spend most of our deposit on renting and bills until he got a new one so we're a bit stuck too. We own a flat but it's too small for what will be 4 of us and can't sell it as we bought it for more than its valued at. I know there are good incentives on new builds now which isn't ideal for everyone but we're going to have a look at some local to us next month.

Soooo....we're having another girl Grin I am over the moon happy, just popped out and bought the most unpractical and beautiful little dress for her. I honestly think my body will only grow girls but that suits me and my personality very well. It means my nephew will be a very in demand and spoiled little boy!

SpottyTeacakes · 30/06/2012 12:57

Awww yay a girl!! Such lovely news Smile

CODwidow · 30/06/2012 13:08

Aww congrats strawberry

itsMYNutella · 30/06/2012 13:11

Awww congrats Strawberry! How lovely.
I'm still happy not knowing Grin

Bubbless I think the part rent part but works if you know you both have good wages and like someone else said, you could deal with a large increase in the rent half. I have one friend who loves the scheme and one who really got burnt.

knottyhair · 30/06/2012 13:57

Congrats strawberry!

brooke89 · 30/06/2012 15:39

Congrats strawberry! Smile

Bubbles - I own a flat which I bought on a government scheme. The government gave us an interest free loan of 50% of the property's value and I got a mortgage for the other 50%. The flats too small for us to stay in now so it's unoccupied and we're renting. Problem is to sell it you need an independent valuation, which is 250 and any profit you make goes 50% back to the government. You can't rent it or borrow any extra money on your mortgage. It's a catch 22 situation with us for it and I wish id never bought it! Hang in there renting until you can get a normal mortgage id say!

HoneyMum21 · 30/06/2012 15:45

Congratulations strawberry.
I wish I had the patience to wait but I don't! I can now barely wait till Friday when we get to fin out! Honestly don't mind either way but can't wait to know!

JoJoB77 · 30/06/2012 16:00

Congrats Strawberry Smile

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 30/06/2012 17:00

We pay £1200 a month in rent, shocking but we can't get a mortgage for a property in our area and tbh right now it's nice that the appliances etc are somebody else's problem. Not sure if ee'll ever own a property before either of our parents die but try but to worry/think about it lol!

Thankfully I'm in a long term rental with lovely landlords though.

Congrats strawberry a lovely little girl!
