Scanned through quickly hope everyone is ok with flooding ect?

Worst day here for me Sad found out I've been made redundant. Totally freeking out about how we are going to cope! If ever a bottle of wine was needed It is now!

Clarella · 28/06/2012 20:42

Glad you're home honeymum, my god I bet you are shattered. Definately a time to put your feet up.

Bellaboo123 · 28/06/2012 20:44

Wow hard to imagine the flooding it's still sunny here in Hertfordshire! Hope ur all ok!

Any know how true the sizes at seraphine are? Im a 10 normally and last week ordered some jojo mama black trousers in a 10 and they swamped me...don't want the same to happen again!

Envy of all the baby movements still not convinced if I've really felt anything yet! 16wk mw appt tomorrow yay!

Clarella · 28/06/2012 20:46

Oh no Brooke that's awful. Unmumsnetty hugs xx

SpottyTeacakes · 28/06/2012 20:46

Oh no brooke hope you're OK. Dodgy ground making someone redundant when they're pregnant. I'm sure it will all work out OK for you.

Glad you got home OK honeymum sounds like you need a nice hot bath and early night

Queenofsiburbia · 28/06/2012 20:49

brooke you poor poor thing what an awful day. I hope you aren't feeling too knocked by it. I'm sure you're highly employable but that doesn't help right now I guess.

Can you negotiate a payout? Do try and get some advice to be sure you get everything you are entitled too.

I hope you make that one glass really count Wine

Bellaboo123 · 28/06/2012 20:50

Brooke I totally missed your message in so sorry to hear your news that's awful - silly question but can they do that if your pregnant!

brooke89 · 28/06/2012 21:24

DP is like the Gestapo here as well, so not even a glass Wine! Will have to make the 2 bars of galaxy caramel count!

Still in shock i think but sure it will work itself out Hmm Gone from 19 offices to 9 so there's quite a few of us in the same boat!

brooke89 · 28/06/2012 21:25

I think so bella because everyone's jobs are going - going to have to ring the union tomorrow and talk it over - hoping they don't send me back to work in a retail branch!

itsMYNutella · 28/06/2012 21:40

Brooke oh no what rubbish news! Hope that either something can be done or you get a decent settlement!

My TopShop order arrived today such cosy jeans :o

DP and I went to an info evening at a local hospital (trying to digest it all in a foreign language ain't easy! - so I'm trying to be organised) it was very interesting. Is it wrong that we became very silly and childish when we spotted one midwife (wall of mugshots) who was called Suck and another named Dick?
I couldn't help but imagine a scenario where they are both at work and someone else shouts for them in an emergency Blush

Hope all those affected by the freak weather are home and dry with plenty of supplies in the cupboards!!

Take care ladies, nighty night! x

CakeBump · 28/06/2012 21:43

Bella I was a 12 before and have 2 pairs of Seraphine jeans in a 12. They're a very flattering fit.

Bellaboo123 · 28/06/2012 21:48

That's cake bump - yay for pay day tomorrow...I'll get ordering!

Brooke hope it all works out..fingers crossed for a nice package.

Bellaboo123 · 28/06/2012 21:48

Meant thanks - bloody predictive text!

MyDaydream · 28/06/2012 21:50

Nutella your so organised. I keep thinking I need to start making calls about hospital tours and antenatal classes but never get round to it?

itsMYNutella · 28/06/2012 21:56

We came across it at my Dr's office. they have an open evening on the last Thursday of every month and they recommend going round two or three. I reckon if we can get to one a month we should find something in time :o

itsMYNutella · 28/06/2012 21:58

cakebump I have found some ok but drab stuff maternity wear wise... but it's crazy expensive and I haven't been impressed with the quality, tailoring etc of clothing here anyway... please let me know if you do find some good stuff :o

JoJoB77 · 28/06/2012 22:09

Suck dick (giggles) Grin

Stacks · 28/06/2012 22:21

Nutella, look on some uk websites? The postage might be quite expensive, but someone here (me even) could always forward a parcel on to you there. We do it quite often with a friend of ours who is over in Germany. Not sure how it would work if the clothes didn't fit and needed returning... What's the usual time to return something, 2 weeks?

CakeBump · 28/06/2012 23:01

Seraphine costs 12 quid but arrives next day pretty much. If the stuff is in the sale or you order a lot I think its worth it.

Cookiesandcream06 · 29/06/2012 09:29

Oh no brooke that's horrible, you poor thing. It's harder to deal with already hard things like that when you're pregnant. Unmumsnetty hugs to you. Lots of Galaxy. And cake. Hope something is sorted out for you. They do have to be careful given the fact you're preggers so yeh definitely speak to the union.

clarella what a traumatic scary time for you! Didn't seem possible when it was high 20s and clear blue sky down here. Really glad the Mr is ok, and hope weather improves (good news of sun)

I like my Topshop maternity jeans they are a little baggier on the legs than the same jeans from the normal section but they're a comfy relief from wearing my normal ones undone with a bump band over the top. Secret tip-if you order two pairs it means you have qualified for free delivery, and it's free to return Smile

Clarella · 29/06/2012 09:40

Thanky for kind words but seriously honeymum had it much worse than me - at least I was at home - as did many other people - my usual ten min walk was only half an hour, most people took around 4 hours and lots of houses flooded. Thing is we don't really get that much rain in the north east! Luckily no one died up here but I believe someone did further south.

It was utter madness though - totally not baby linked but have to post a film of in the town - though its really made me think about what sort of pram to get - all weather 4x4!

Clarella · 29/06/2012 09:41

oh and DH just needs new shoes and the builders to get on with their work :)

Clarella · 29/06/2012 09:45

Really makes you think how everything can suddenly be turned on its head a taken away. Very sad for families who do lose loved ones like that. I think we get a bit desensitised with tv and disaster movies.

Queenofsiburbia · 29/06/2012 09:52

clarella I watched your YouTube of the manhole cover. DH & I both Shock . DH a southerner thru & thru so couldnt believe it, whilst I'm a Shropshire lass so abit more used to rain but still!

Actually that person who sadly died in floods was in Ludlow (Shrops). Sounds like its been pretty bad there too. Every year our school was flooded by the Severn. It's also the coldest English county. It's a much nicer place than I'm making it sound!

Hopefully the worst of it is over now for everyone although here in Siburbia its blowing a gale as always.
And we still have hosepipe ban Confused

JoJoB77 · 29/06/2012 09:52

Yeah i saw on the news that a man had got swept away by the floods and drowned. It was literally on 5 mins away from me too Sad

Glad you're all ok tho, its just mad how the weather has been so freaky lately.

Sorry to hear your news Brooke. Not what you need at all.
