Why not stay in the moment instead of guessing who will say what and what will happen weeks in advance....you have the whole scenario played out already, and it hasn't happened yet. You will go in with a negative attitude, and she may respond...she is human, just like you, and with the same problems and concerns as all of us. Be kind and who knows?.

COD I was told the opposite yesterday at my 16 week appt. she said I was suffering from dehydration - not sure what else I can do apart from drink more water but sure I was drinking enough before :s

Thyroid tests tonight which I'm sure are gonna come back under so hoping they increase my dose as feel like poo Sad Morning sickness has kicked in now... Thought at 15 weeks it was suppose to be going not coming!!

Good luck on your scan today stacey, I feel excited for you, you've waited ageeees!!

Queenofsiburbia · 20/06/2012 08:37

cod wow and I thought I was thirsty! Am also waking twice a night for a drink (& a pee - at 8 months I think I'll have to sleep in the bathroom!) but you really do seen to be drinking gallons. I keep chopping up oranges, apples, nectarines etc to get juicy food - maybe you could try that as a way of eating and quenching thirst. Although obv do take everyone's advice about checking with Doc.

honey I have evil midwife too. Very very cross! Hoping to ditch mine too. Good luck today, don't take no attitude!

clarella one of my GPs is so rubbish I had to point out to him that probably worth checking if antibiotics safe to take whilst pregnant. He did Dr equiv of google and they weren't! He's young but still.
I can't imagine what a nightmare it must be if you have something slightly out of ordinary.

Queenofsiburbia · 20/06/2012 08:42

spotty Grin
My reaction matched yours!

knottyhair · 20/06/2012 09:18

suziez, what a strange post! Honey didn't mention anything about not being "kind", just that she wanted to change as she doesn't get on with her - her choice and right to do so.

Barbeasty · 20/06/2012 09:33

Mydaydream- just wait until nearer Christmas, when they bring out all the tiny elf, Santa, robin etc outfits. Who was planning on combining Christmas and birth announcement cards.....?

Annelid- contact your midwife or epu. I had a bleed at about 14 weeks last pregnancy and it was caused by a low placenta. It's best to get things checked and they're normally happy to do so.

I've got the same midwife as last time. It took a while to get used to her, but actually she's very nice. It was interesting chatting to a friend who's due next month, as this midwife is trying to encourage her to go for a home birth, and she's recommended I go for a c section. Nice to see someone willing to support what's best for the woman and not pushing a particular agenda.

StrawberrytallCAKE · 20/06/2012 10:21

I've seen my mw once. She didn't refer me for a scan and she didn't refer me to my consultant, I had to call the hospital and do it myself which was difficult as no one answered 99% of the time. How reassuring. It also meant I had my scan later than expected and my consultants appointment isn't until 17 weeks which has stressed me out as I'm worried every day about my cervix failing.

She also started preaching to me about breastfeeding and how as there is heart disease in my family I must breastfeed (I had problems last time so I'm not thinking of going ahead this time). I hate to think of all the first time mothers who've had to endure listening to her and possibly ended up with pnd. We're in a month so I'm changing mw.

On a lighter note it is sunny outside and I don't have a headache or feel sick today so it's time to take dd to the park to enjoy it :)

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 20/06/2012 10:22

I don't think I ever saw the same midwife twice with my 2 previous pregnancies so I'm not holding out any hope for this 1! Lol I don't really care though thankfully I know how my body works so as long as nothing goes wrong I can do most of it alone tbh!

Soooo excited 1 hour!!!! Thanks for the thoughts you guys, I have waited forever for this lol

Good luck for this afternoon knotty!

COD I agree, keep an eye on it today and speak to GP tomorrow, it sounds rather excessive tbh. I'm thirsty all the time but if I drink too much it makes me sick so I'm probably pretty dehydrated right now!

Trying to drink enough water (without throwing up) so they can do the scan properly lol

Sorry to not reply to other messages as I'm on my phone (whcih doesn't like the website!)

Was anyone else petrified about their first scan? Mines on friday at 8.50am (eurgh) and I'm just so so so scared that somethings gone wrong -insert petrified hormal crying emotion-
It doesn't help that my DP won't talk to me about bump because he's nervous as well :/
And I keep getting cramp like feelings in the sides of my belly, is this normal?!

I might go back to bed and hope I don't wake up in the same mood :s

Good luck to anyone with scans today!!
(Sorry if posted twice)

Bubbless I think it's quite normal to be worried about it this is my 3rd dc I had a scan at 7 weeks in the epu and I still have a worried feeling in my stomach. Also the crampy/stretchy feelings are quite normal tbh but if you're worried phone your GP or midwife

I've had my 12w scan, 16w check where she found the heart beat straight up and still get the horrors, bubless!

Does anyone know about dvt/phlebitis in pregnancy? I've started my own thread but absolutely terrified - this leg still hasn't cleared up, and I've got cramp in my calf now. Walking downstairs this morning had me in floods, I'm booked yo work Friday morning and really don't think I'll be up to it, but we really need the money after a fuck up by the agency dp was temping for Sad

Nicnac78 · 20/06/2012 12:46

Hi everyone! Have been lurking / stalking since the beginning but finally had my scan today at 13+2 and everything was good. Just got to wait for combined results but starting to feel this is real and will be okay. It's our first and we're very excited.
Had really good experience this morning at the scan. Everyone I've had contact with so far has been lovely and I've been very lucky with not suffering too much with sickness etc.
Anyway, good luck for rest of scans.

JoJoB77 · 20/06/2012 13:08

Hello all & welcome nicnac Smile

Pidjin sorry i dont hava any experience of either, but perhaps a trip to the GP if it hasn't healed, to see what they recommend/ to allay your fears? Hope it heals quickly.

All well here, feeling very tired still & no bump as yet but i'm sure its not far away.

Its a lovely day here in Shropshire for a change! Gona pop into town after feeding DD & browse at babygros.

Bubbless · 20/06/2012 13:28

SpottyTeacakes · 20/06/2012 13:44

I just slept for three hours! Feel ill from going so long without food.

Welcome new person (yes I read your post 20 secs ago and have forgotten your name already Blush )

Purple go to the dr or a minor injuries unit if you can't get an appointment sounds like you need iv antibiotics

I was so nervous for my scan yesterday too and the worrying never stops so stressful!

PurplePidjin · 20/06/2012 13:57

I'm too scared

SpottyTeacakes · 20/06/2012 14:06

You must go! Seriously it will probably just be IV antibiotics you need to get it seen soon so they can sort it out for you.

FriendofDorothy · 20/06/2012 14:17

You HAVE to go to the GP or A&E if you think you have a DVT. It can be very risky if left untreated.

PurplePidjin · 20/06/2012 14:18

Seeing GP at 4 Shock

Bubbless · 20/06/2012 14:23

let us know, im sure youll be up and jogging around -cough- in no time ;)

Clarella · 20/06/2012 14:43

Good to see the doc pidg, hope you get sorted out.

PurplePidjin · 20/06/2012 15:05

Dp runs, i was in the habit of swimming a mile or so a week - plus they've just started aquanatal back up, but moved it to the pool that's walking distance of my house :o

refusing to think about possibility of overnight hospital stay and IV drips
