CODwidow · 19/06/2012 18:27

gils usually she'll have a feel of your tummy to check height of uterus and you should get to listen to the heartbeat. Take a wee sample and she'll check your blood pressure. If you haven't already you'll get your blood results back from your booking in ones Smile

CODwidow · 19/06/2012 18:31

I think I'm lucky as I really like my mw she's very friendly and down to earth. Stayed away from all hot drinks today and have felt less sick with no indigestion at all so water it is for the next 5 1/2 months!

Still not able to shift the headache so will have a chat with mw a week today and see if she has any miracle cures.

MyDaydream · 19/06/2012 18:52

Livismum so sorry to hear what your going through. Hope you have all the support you need around you.

I told my boss today now it feels like we have a little secret because we kept popping out of the room for a chat. I've decided not to tell my colleagues yet, I want to see how big I get before they start asking if I'm pregnant rather than just thinking im fat.
Went Into mother care today and it scared me. There's so much choice for everything! Had to step away from the little batman baby grow.

HoneyMum21 · 19/06/2012 19:01

there's a batman babygro? In mothercare?????

MyDaydream · 19/06/2012 19:08

Yeah it was very cute. I may be tempted to go back and buy it.

Mummycox · 19/06/2012 19:40

So sorry livismum, hope you're getting love and support x

twobecomethree · 19/06/2012 20:12

I'm so sorry livismum that is horrible news for you, I wish you all the best for future+hope you are getting lots of love+support.

I haven't posted since last thread when found out I was pregnant but have been lurking! Had my 12wk scan today+all was well. Baby developing as it should be with all the right anatomy at the mo. Nuchal measurement was 1.8, the sonographer said that was ok but does anyone know what measurement you should be aiming for? It was great to see baby wiggling around+we got bonus time watching them on screen as he/she was in wrong position for NT measurement+wouldn't move, I hope its that laid back when it comes out!

Please tell me to snap out of it but despite today's positive scan I'm feeling in a really low mood+have been for awhile. This pregnancy is so wanted+longed for after long time trying so not sure what's wrong with me. Just wanting to find out from you lovely ladies if this is normal or whether I need to get some help??

mwahmwah · 19/06/2012 20:55

Twobecomethree, yep, I've bn a tearful moody depressed monster for 5 weeks so I think it is normal. I've felt pretty rotten tho so am blaming that. However, always worth speaking to your midwife if you feel it's getting out of hand. As for nuchsl measurements... I did a google search and it depends how far along u are what measurements are ok. Have a wee google, I can't paste the link ??? xxx

CODwidow · 19/06/2012 21:00

I am actually starting to get worried about my thirst it is really excessive now and I'm waking in the night at least twice for a drink. I'd say I've had at least 25 large glasses of water/squash today and my throat still feels as if I haven't drank all day. I woke this morning with such a dry throat I thought I was coming down with something. Thing is I know being thirsty is quite common but this really does feel too much now. Anyone else having the same ?

SpottyTeacakes · 19/06/2012 21:09

I just posted but it didn't show so sorry if this comes up twice

I'm thirst but not like that. Extreme thirst can be a sign of diabetes so best to get it checked. It will probably be find but better to be safe Smile

CODwidow · 19/06/2012 21:31

I think I will as I'm also still really exhausted and I'm now 15 weeks so was hoping that would ease a bit by now (it did in 4 previous pregnancies) I'm sure it's fine but I've had 3 glasses just since I posted last and still really thirsty

SpottyTeacakes · 19/06/2012 21:35

That's very thirsty Smile obviously let us know how you get on. Maybe try sipping so not to make yourself ill? Have no idea if you can get ill from drinking too much?!

CODwidow · 19/06/2012 21:42

I guess the only problem I'm finding is I'm not hungry because my belly is full of fluid, so not eating that much at all. Mmm well I have mw a week today I'll have a chat with her.

SpottyTeacakes · 19/06/2012 21:42

Also if you suddenly get really short of breath, start being sick and aching get thee to a&e. I'm sure it's all pregnancy related but just in case Wink

twobecomethree · 19/06/2012 21:51

Thank you mwahmwah that's good to hear and I have been busy googling!
I also have an unquenchable thirst but not near the 25 glasses a day so I'd speak to your midwife cod - I've found Oasis to be a good drink for me.

cherrypiew3 · 19/06/2012 22:30

livismum so sorry to hear your sad newsSad I wish you all the best for the future.

COD I eat very little due to always been full up on water and am exhausted also 15 weeks. My dad is a diabetic so I have always been checked in previous pregnancies and been fine so hoping that will be the same this time round. Got my 16 week check up next Tuesday so going to speak to the mw then. Hope you are feeling better soon and find something to help with the thirst maybe an ice lolly would help if your worried about drinking to much.

Clarella and spotty good news on your scans.

Hope that everyone else is feeling well.

annelid · 19/06/2012 22:34

Have had a small bleed this evening, I'm nearly 14 weeks, and had my scan last week and all was fine. Never had this with any other pregnancies, what do I do? if anything?

Clarella · 19/06/2012 23:13

I'd call epu annelid, just to check, hope you're ok.

Cod I would go to the doctor rather than the mw personally . Thirst can be indicative of a few things I think, unless u think mw would refer you to the hospital?

Just deleted a very long tearful rant about mw and thyroid and being so low, realise how pointless it was. I just feel like I have to do so much ground work all the bloody time, tell people how to do their jobs. Had to tell poor nurse at hospital that (possibly) it should be a full thyroid screen - she didn't know but did it on the 'safe side'. Makes me feel like a paranoid lone ranger but everything I've 'fussed' about has turned out to be very necessary, sometimes not enough. Is that usual?! maybe that's what being a mum is.

Clarella · 19/06/2012 23:44

Sorry better now. Tomorrow AM I intend to get up very early and photo the town moor plus cows plus giant hoppings fair before the west end masses trample all the buttercups and we get our annual quagmire.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 20/06/2012 04:12

Clarella i think often when u have a medical condition you end up with a better knowledge of it than a lot of health professionals unless they have specific training in that area. I know it's true if myself with DDs kidney problems, the GP had very little clue so I'd be telling them what to look for in her urine and what dose of steroids she should be on. Also have a friend in a similar situation with her GO over a DCs illness, I think it's just part an parcel of understanding your (or a loved ones) illness!

As you can all see I am not sleeping, I mean who would want to be asleep at 4am right? Urgh I'm gunna feel crap in the morning but I think it's excitement for the scan, it's felt like its forever away (and many people due after me have had theirs already) so I think my brain hasn't really got used to the fact it's going to happen in just over 7 hours! Eeeek!

SpottyTeacakes · 20/06/2012 07:17

COD I think you should at least phone the dr/midwife today.

Such a lovely day today Smile can get out in the garden

CODwidow · 20/06/2012 07:48

I'm going to keep an eye on it today and actually record how much I'm drinking.

knottyhair · 20/06/2012 08:03

Stacey I've been awake since 5am for similar reasons! Will be thinking of you this morning. COD, good advice from Spotty, I'd ring if I were you.

HoneyMum21 · 20/06/2012 08:11

Work this morning then seeing evil midwife for 16 week checkup then house hunting! Midwife will prob have a go as I'm only 15+4 and she doesn't seem to like people messing with her schedule, but she only sees people on wednesday mornings and me and DH can't get next Wednesday morning off work, so we'll just have to deal with her making snide comments. Hopefully this will be the last time we have to see her as supervisor midwife said if we still weren't happy we could switch. Sorry, that wasn't supposed to turn into a rant!
But then, house hunting! :)

SpottyTeacakes · 20/06/2012 08:19

I still haven't met my community midwife. I have one friend who likes her and one who doesn't so we'll see!

Good luck for all the scans today Smile
