vanimal · 08/06/2012 22:19

Hi everyone, wow we are on thread 5 already!

I am feeling the same as everyone else at the moment - huge and hormonal. I've come to see my parents for a few days break, and was filled with unreasonable rage because my brother watched me wipe the table clean after dinner instead of doing it for me. No reason he should have done it, particularly as he had just got in from work, and also as he has been helping me put DDs to bed when he gets in too. (DH didn't come with me, or he'd be the one doing the bedtime routine).

We are moving house in two weeks - eek! I'll be around 31 weeks then, and will have DDs to take care of too over the move. DH is working all hours so I'll be doing most of the packing myself too. I am overjoyed to be moving but tired just thinking about the packing and unpacking I have ahead of me..

tashaw28 · 08/06/2012 22:52

Thomas is lovely poppy, is his middle name gonna be minipop?!!

therumoursaretrue · 09/06/2012 00:44

Aww poppy lovely name! Glad to hear Thomas is doing ok, I'll be keeping you in my thoughts that he gets even better.

Quick update on me, just home from A&E. They hooked me up to a drip to get some extra fluid into me and had all the normal checks. Booked in for a scan on Tuesday and have been given injections home to give myself. Not good as I'm super squeamish!

Didn't get my take away after all, but hope you all enjoyed your Friday evening!

ishopthereforeiam · 09/06/2012 01:40

Hope you're ok - pleased you're back at home rumours

Poppy great name, think this is just the start of the worry not sure it will ever end!

Settling in for another night of insomnia having tried to sleep for over an hour and a half. So tired, had 2 hours sleep last night plus 40 min nap during the day. My eyes hurt Sad. Sorry all - I know it's tedious am even starting to bore myself with these repeat posts.

Baby is sat on my lungs (or so it feels) and my throat feels like it's being (gently) strangled.

May go to GP soon for some meds to help with the sleep.

In other news 49 days to go wooohooo!

ImissMiniPop · 09/06/2012 02:01

I'm also awake too, but that's because I have been given a different expressing plan to try and up my milk output. Every two hours during the day, once at 1am then again at 7am Confused my poor boobs hurt so much and they're really not refilling!

Have to try this approach over the weekend and if it doesn't work they'll give me a letter for some medication to help...!

rumours hope you get a take away sat night instead. What a scared :( hope you're feeling a bit better now.

ishop fingers crossed for a bit of sleep... I am shattered constantly, so keep falling asleep in weird places! (not entirely helpful!!)

and yes it's Thomas Minipop :o Wink

ishopthereforeiam · 09/06/2012 02:31

Oh my gosh Poppy, at least you'll be able to get a few hours in once this expression session is done. Which pump did you go for in the end?

Love the name btw!

OP posts:
NeedlesCuties · 09/06/2012 08:32

Hi!

Love the name Thomas, Poppy , am sure he's a treasure and sooo cute! Do you want me to add his name to our epic August list, or wait until there is a post-natal thread? Let me know please :)

Bit of a tmi question here, but will ask it anyway: does anyone else get crazy cramp in their legs or hips at the 'crucial' moment of sex? I've been having this cramp each time in the past few weeks, and I didn't have this when pregnant with DS. DH is bemused, thinks it's quite amusing, which is good I suppose Hmm

(29+1)

0FrillyKnickers0 · 09/06/2012 09:43

Morning all! You'll be pleased to hear that I had a lovely evening last night and thoroughly enjoyed a glass of red wine!! I also slept almost properly for the first time in weeks (sorry ishop)!

Poppy, Thomas is such a lovely name! How does it feel having a baby with a name? Must be exciting?!

I just had a super duper healthy breakfast achem. A triple chocolate cookie from sainsburys...yeah Blush

panpipe · 09/06/2012 10:51

Needles sorry I can't help you there; with DH being away at work in the week I can't actually remember last time... Blush

Poppy Thomas is such a lovely name; does it feel strange now he has a name? Hope your new expressing routine works better for you too.

As feared the nursery-to-be is indeed covered in lining paper, not forgetting three different colours of paint on top of that. The previous owners in this house certainly had a thing for colour - pink and red kitchen and orange master bedroom were other highlights! Just spent an hour with a hired steamer stripping the paper so having a rest and some breakfast now. DH is out for the day again leaving me to it! Might have a longer break later this afternoon and go into town to pick up a few hospital bag bits.

panpipe · 09/06/2012 10:52

Ha I just spotted I said exactly the same about Thomas as Frilly in the post above!

ontheedgeofwhatever · 09/06/2012 11:18

Poppy Many congratulations. Oddly enough Thomas is top of our list if we have a boy, I've always liked it as a name.

Westcountrylovescheese · 09/06/2012 11:27

Woohoo for Thomas Minipop! That's a lively name and would be on our list if close friends didn't already have one.

Rumours, hope you are well today!

I'm having a lazy/pottering day. After last weekends decorating and next week the new kitchen gets started I reckon I need a rest. Is anyone else starting to feel knackered all the time. 3 weeks left at work and I am really feeling that I need to stop. Will be 35 weeks by then...

Westcountrylovescheese · 09/06/2012 11:28

Lovely, not lively... Sorry iPod!

WelshLadyCDF · 09/06/2012 12:37

needles I can't remember the last time either Blush

Vinolover · 09/06/2012 12:43

I'm getting lots of braxton hicks too tasha and have out it down to the fact it's my third. It definitely makes a difference if I've been over doing it and I also get them really strongly after sex. Sorry for the tmi Wink. I can't believe you haven't seen a MW in 14wks! That's terrible. I think the longest I have gone is 9wks and not due back until I'm 35 weeks so that will be another 6wks between appointments which I thought was bad enough.

0FrillyKnickers0 · 09/06/2012 12:59

Tasha, Vino's right. 14 weeks is awful. I see mine every 4 and now that I'm 28wks she wants to see me every 2 as is standard. You should have words!!

GwenGotLost · 09/06/2012 13:52

Oops been off for a bit Confused 8 pages already?! Shock

...I'll read all the backlog soon...

Good to know people had a good BH weekend; It rained pretty much non-stop here and then I was working Monday and Tuesday but had some friends down so that was nice; Glad other people enjoyed the time off though :o
Thomes :D lovely name choice Poppy

haven't had too much drama with people wanting to know when they'll visit, secretly relieved as Mum took herself out of the running for birthing partner; she knows her presence won't help Wink, haven't talked to DP or PiL about after birth visits yet... think I'll instigate the cuddles for cake / chocolate / cleaning rule too though.

Had a 32 week scan yesterday and have been confirmed to have low lying placenta, they didn't say how low though, so I don't know if its covering cervix or not... either way, have been booked for another scan at 36/40 to see if it's moved. Really hoping it does as I'm devastated at the idea of having to have a c/s, really wanted a natural birth as this is my first :(

Other than that... sleep? don't talk to me about sleep! DP doesn't seem to understand quite how bloody tired I am even after a "good" 8 hours back aching, hips hurting and pelvis bone feeling like it's being stabbed does not make a good sleep Angry

-sigh- someone get me some Brew

Loislane78 · 09/06/2012 14:11

Wow! Just had a serious wake up call when I read some of you are counting down to maternity leave in a matter of weeks with ~60 days to go to D-Day Shock When I think August, still seems like a long way off but I guess not!

Glad a few of us are having a more chilled day/weekend. Just had a pedicure and back to watch the tennis final with a nice large piece of cake :)

MrsMigginslovespies · 09/06/2012 14:35

Hello hello,

Happy weekend all. Lots to catch up on, so here goes.

Tasha that's crap about your midwife visits. I feel I've had a lot coz of high risk pregnancy (IVF + age) but even so, you should have been seen more by now. Hope you're ok.

Frilly, how are you today? Did you have a nice meal out? We dragged ourselves to a party last night that was night, but we did head home by 1030, as we were both knackered, plus haven't seen DH much all week.

Needles, what is this SEX word you talk about?! Wink.

Ontheedge, how are you feeling today? SO sorry you've been feeling so down, but from what I've heard and read, both here and in Rl with my sister etc, there really is enough love to share, more than you could ever imagine! But if you're anxious, talk to your MW. Or on here Smile.

The3Bears, lovely happy excited post! I'd be more excited if we had a bloody nursery done! I hate the mess, crap everywhere and general not-readyness, as I'm super nesty and want it all done yesterday. DH has said he needs to do a bunch of reports this weekend as they're due next week, so another weekend gone. Grr. We're both seperately away next weekend. ANd so it goes on. Agh!

Ham, have to say that I'm chucking nappies away! My sister bought a nappy system that she didn't like to start then went over to disposables. I'd love to try them, but know I'm either too OCD about washing bits or too lazy to bother Blush, plus am also concious that we use school machines etc, so need to be considerate of other people too. I've already got a selection of Pampers and Huggies so will see which ones work for miniMiggins.

Imiss, love Thomas. It was on our list too, but doesn't go with our surname, but is a great strong lovely name. Good work!

Our cloud and plane stickers have arrived, as has the new lamp and they're lovely. Really pleased with everything and think it's ONE DAY going to look fab!!

And on a final funny note, the school is having a vintage sale today. DH was talking to one of the ladies organising yesterday who told him that she'd put some lovely LEATHERETTE maternity trousers in the sale and I should have a look.... Pleather, I believe she called them. Happily, she's v tall and a size 8 and I'm not) and alas they'd been sold by the time I got there so I couldn't have a private giggle! But really, who would wear pleather maternity trews?! Giving me thrush just thinking about them Wink.

Hope y'all have a good weekend. It's actually sunny and ok here so if I can ever get DH out, we might take DDog for a walk (photo still to follow if I can work out how to post one). xxx

hamncheese · 09/06/2012 16:22

Busy busy thread! Sorry if my replies are out of date!

Checked for a council nappy scheme panpipe but sadly Glasgow doesn't offer one boo! Nor does the council we are looking to move to if we sell the flat EVER.

Links would be great please needles thanks! And if your sling meet is anything like mine was there will be many cloth nappy parents there to advise too. RE: cramp at the "crucial moment" no but sometimes I feel like the whole bump is tensing and stuff, it kind of creeps me out that baby is so involved if you know what I mean

Thanks for advice re: tarry poo and cloth nappies gnomi. It's nice to hear lots of you are considering too... really looking forward to asking NCT lady about it and going to the nappy meet thingo

Ugh frilly that sounds crap, it's so horrible to have to go out and pretend to be the life and soul when you just don't feel like it!

Awww micro nappies for little Thomas! I hope he is having a good day today and that your DH appreciates how tough it has been/is for you poppy

Ah your Mum saying that was like mine fairtrade they just assume you will do things exactly like they did. I spoke about cloth nappies again though and she now thinks it's a great idea so who knows with Mums!!

Glad you are being checked out rumors ... make sure and get your takeaway this evening!!

Yay thread love ishop Grin but grr about the sleep still... you should ask your gp or MW to see if anything can help as 2 hours is not enough!!

The idea of my maternity jeans seems too much for me comfort-wise atm miggins never mind pleather!!!!! Living in leggings but may need some more, only 9 WEEKS TO GO TODAY though so going to try and last it out in my two pairs

Mega busy day today got all our crap out of storage and lugged it upstairs to our flat again (well, I "co-ordinated" and got repeatedly told off for helping). Then stacked it all in the back room and made the cat nursery which keeps them out the way yay and confines some of the mega moulting that is going on with them in the warmer weather.

Also had the 3d scan today which was great. Little one is gorgeous. I was secretly worried the baby would look creepy at this stage as I saw a friends pictures and it looked totally alien. Not that it bothers me what it looks like just hate the idea of anyone else ever saying anything bad about my baby, I'd break their face!! I don't know just feeling protective for no reason as only our parents and us there but whatever. Anyway it looks nothing like an alien and everything like me and DH and also totally like a newborn already, really cute podgey cheeks. Has DH's nose and his lovely big eyes (yay, mine are small so glad they weren't passed on or so it seems) and sort of my mouth. It looked like him at some points and me at others. We said we didn't want to know the sex and then towards the end of the scan my Mum was talking about it as she thought she'd be able to tell by the face (but had no idea) and the scanner said she had seen and knew the sex! Knowing she had the info totally tempted me but managed to resist. Anyway will now go and post a picture from the scan on my profile.

LONG post sorry but it's so nice and chatty on here of late Grin

0FrillyKnickers0 · 09/06/2012 17:04

Feeling poo again I'm sorry to say, MrsMiggins. Down in the dumps and want a week without DH. Sounds mean probably but he is being blimmin mean. Seriously, where does he get off calling me a mopey bitch? To be fair I have been down, but you just don't say that to your pregnant wife who is clearly finding life a struggle.

Had my sister's baby shower which was good, but I had so little energy. Oh my days I neeeeeeed to stop moaning Sad I will...one day. I hope.

Aaaaanyway, enough of that pity party! How are you all? Make me green with envy because of your perfect lives! Wink

Gnomi · 09/06/2012 17:20

Really sorry you're feeling down Frilly. Have you been feeling like this for a while? You might want to talk to your midwife because it is possibly pregnancy-related (although it's surely a DH's responsibility to look after and bear with the pregnant wife - what he said is definitely a no-no!).

The scan sounds amazing ham - can't believe you were so disciplined to not find out the sex!

And such a brilliant name Poppy - love the name Thomas!

Needles - ahem - you're not alone! Wink

I've spent the day doing exam marking - it's horrible, and boring, but the money makes it all worthwhile, and it'll mean i can have a bit longer off work with LO when he arrives. Have eaten my way through a whole packet of chocolate biscuites to break up the boredom though!

0FrillyKnickers0 · 09/06/2012 17:39

I truly think it's just down to lack of sleep Gnomi. I've been struggling to get a decent night sleep all week and it's just gotten too much!! I'll be ok, but if it continues then I will definitely talk to my MW, thank you Smile

ishopthereforeiam · 09/06/2012 17:40

ham gorgeous picture! Do you have any more? It's so clear!

needles am with you on the leg cramps but sex ... What is that? Honestly it's been months as my bump is huge and im always shattered and feeling tres unsexy Sad

gwen for you Brew

frilly hope you feel better soon, sounds like you need a rest and a bit of space?

Just got back from park with dd where a group of 15-20 boys decided to have a fight and there was a man sat alone under the children's house ( he may have been harmless, homeless, both but found it very creepy). Def time to move to the 'burbs. Hope this house move stuff materialises!

OP posts:
panpipe · 09/06/2012 18:16

Phew I go away for a few hours and it's gone crazy!

Boo to your DH Frilly. Mine's being quite annoying at the moment too and doesn't seem to have anything supportive or encouraging to say. Sometimes I'm glad he's away in the week at the moment but it's not too great that he's out both days this weekend too so I still have to get on with things by myself.

Operation Nursery Wall Stripping is going about as badly as I expected. I had to stop half way through one wall as the plaster started coming off with the paper so looks like that's another few £100 we'll have to spend on a plasterer to come and sort it out. Also the layers of paint are even worse than I thought so we've started a sweepstake to count how many different colours there were - I think there must have been a mural as we've discovered light blue, dark blue, orange, pink, red, green and glitter under the yellow top coat! It's like Panpipe and the Amazing Technicolour Nursery! I started having some strange crampy type things in the last half an hour so am going to call it a day I think; don't want to put my new hospital bag things to use this soon!
