Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Vinolover · 25/06/2012 09:24

Good morning ladies :)

Im going to jump on the windy bandwagon but that's just down to over indulging yesterday at my parents house Blush. Am really suffering today though with that and feeling sick etc.
Were you put on iron tablets frilly? They can cause wind.

I was sure the baby had moved head down last week but I think he may be back again! When I listen to his hb with my doppler it seems to be above my belly button and im getting all kicks down below and in my hip again. Am 33+2 though so there's still plenty of time for him to head down again. Im really not sure I want them trying to turn him if he does stay breech though Hmm

I hope minipop is off the anti biotics soon Poppy. Poor little mite :(

Think I will spend the day slobbing! Happy monday all :)

hamncheese · 25/06/2012 09:28

Hope Ddog's op goes ok miggins at least she doesn't have a dog friend, when my girl cats got their op they had to be seperated so they didn't take out eachothers stitches, despite the lamp shade collars. Poor wee souls!

Poor minipop... hope he feels a lot better asap!!

Ugh I had a chest infection earlier in the pregnancy susie get to the docs some antibiotics shifted it promptly

Are we talking haemorrhoids west ? I've had them (well, it) :( got it from a horrific cough after a chest infection and they gave me laxatives and cream. Laxatives gave me horrible cramps everytime I went so gave that up in a hurry. Cream did F-all. It goes away but does come back anytime the fibre intake isn't maximum. Fybogel helps on that front. Also this is probably frowned upon but if it becomes uncomfy then try a tiny bit of vicks, numbs it if you know what I mean. Oh and if you are talking of some other downstairs issue well... that's extra TMI from me Blush ham's haemorrhoid handbook Blush

I had a crappy night. Fell asleep on the couch before bed, went to bed and felt really sick. Bar down the road had the most awful wailing karaoke on til half 12 had to call the noise complaint people. Bump pains which I think were trapped wind sore once I did get to sleep and peeing like every hour!!! Argh. Now got to write more PhD bah!

On a positive made our cloth nappy online orders :) quite excited to get them now!

Lovemarmite · 25/06/2012 09:39

Hi west
Sorry to hear about your downstairs issue. I had what I think your're describing when in Sri Lanka. Found that moist toilet tissue helped at moments of that need plus drinking lots of water. However, it does sound like a trip to your docs for maybe a cream or something they can help.
I think the doc would have seen it before too and so no need to Blush

I had an op on my bottom years ago and had a load of medical students watching it. Before they put me under, I saw loads of faces that were the same age as me, peering down on me and I was sooooo embarrassed but woke up and didn't know anything about it, phew!

tashaw my LO is definitely transverse too, she's been lying the same way since Saturday when she did a big turn that made me shriek. It's odd to feel her kicks on my right hand side by my elbow.

Hope minipop is doing well Poppy!

Westcountrylovescheese · 25/06/2012 09:39
Blush

DH has some cream that I have used and thankfully no pain or discomfort... yet. We have been living on pizza and microwave food for a week as kitchen is being done as I suspect that is the cause. Really really not happy. Is Fybogel the same thing as Anusol? Blush

Westcountrylovescheese · 25/06/2012 09:56

Oh Marmite, that sounds like my worst nightmare! Thank goodness for General Anaesthetic. I have midwife on thurs so will ask her about it as long as it doesn't get bad before then... Sad

Hope everything goes well for DDog MrsMiggins.

Poppy, hoping minipop gets better soon, he's been through so much in his little life so far, what a little star. Do you know yet when he'll be able to come home? I can't imagine what it's been like for you, you have been so strong and brave.

The3Bears · 25/06/2012 10:07

Morning everyone,

Poppy hope Thomas is well and feeling better x

West Hope your downstairs issue is sorted soon Blush These pregnancies are far from glam arent they :)

Ive had a lovely weekend nice day with ds and dp on Saturday, football training, soft play and then movie and pizza at night! Then abit of a lazy one yesterday, had a terrible cough though that really hurts all my throat :( Hope it goes soon, drinking plenty of water to ease it atm.
Been abit emotional aswell this weekend not really sure why? anyone else? I was reading about the birth etc in some books and just kept crying was very strange putting it down to hormones and how close I am to the end of pregnancy I really cannot believe I only have 6 weeks and 5 days til due date Shock It's just gone so fast!

Im sure my LO is head down and v low indeed been running to the toilet whenever he moves Blush Hope he stays put for the next few weeks.

Is anyone up to anything good today? Im just going to do the washing/ironing and sort ds's craft drawers as they're abit of a mess atm then back to school to get ds :) bit of a relaxed one for me.

Lovemarmite · 25/06/2012 10:10

west - Fybogel is a laxative drinky thing thats full of fibre and makes your number 2s easier and softer (I believe) and anusol is the cream to relieve the pain, applied to the bottom...
I reckon a pharmacist will be able to help and will tell you to see your doc if things get worse and so you might be able to get both over the counter to start with...

NeedlesCuties · 25/06/2012 11:05

Hi!

My tip for post-labour is Anusol, either the cream or the suppositories (sp?) I needed it after DS was born, never had any issues with my bum before (or since). I have bought some more as I'm expecting to need it when DC2 comes in August.

(31+4)

frillylemons · 25/06/2012 11:42

Fybogel is a dream. Trick is, drink it quickly otherwise it turns all thick and gloopy...bit gross.

Would haemmoriod(sp?!) cream work ok varicose veins on the front bottom ?

I am hideously Envy of those of you who don't have to work today!! I came in to discover that the girl I am training to take my place when I go on ML, has cocked up with something (simply because she didn't reaise that the 'mail delivery failure' email was something to worry about, so she deleted it Angry Consequently, we have people who have been waiting to hear from us since June 1st! Grumble grumble.

Vino, I've not been put on iron tabs yet because I wanted to see if I can get my iron levels up on my own. Don't feel anemic or any different to usual so maybe it's working. Poor DH has to cope with me stinking out the house though!!!

Nightfall1983 · 25/06/2012 12:04

Hi All - I'm new, can I join?

I'm due August 25th with my first - 31 + 2 today :-)

I'm very excited!! Generally all is well with me, felt so exhausted last week I felt like giving up work there and then and was scared that I was going to be like that till the end, BUT feeling much better so far this week. This maybe my iron levels dropped for a little while, they were fine on the 28 week blood test though.

Anyway I can't quite be bothered to read through all the previous thread - lazy - but will try to keep up from now on...

MrsMigginslovespies · 25/06/2012 12:26

DDog update for all those kind enough to send her your wishes Wink: vet has just called and she's fine but v groggy. Will pick her up later on this afternoon to take her home. Honestly, I've been so worried all morning, and quite emotional about it. Poor wee thing.

Bit miffed at DH though. He's got (yet another) cold and forgot that we have antenatal again this afternoon (stupid time of 3.30 but still...) and now can't get it off. Or next week's either by the looks of it. So he'll have been to a total of one class as we only get four from NHS. And today's is what "happens if it doesn't go to plan" etc which was the one I really wanted him at. Grump. Guess I'll potter on as usual by myself, but a bit annoying. Really need him to focus once school finishes next week now, as it's not long to go and I feel sometimes school takes up 80% of his energy, time and concentration. Maybe I'm being unfair, but that's how I feel today.

Is anyone else dropping a lot of stuff? I seem to be very clumsy and drop all sorts of things that I then can't pick up very easily!

West, hope your issue resolves itself soon. Not nice at all for you.

Frilly, bet you can't WAIT to finish work now! Not long to go hurrah.

Tootle pip for now x

Vinolover · 25/06/2012 12:45

I'm trying to get my levels up by myself too Frilly as iron tablets just do not agree with me at all. Dr told me to have steak a couple of times a week with some spinich etc. I'm also making sure I have fresh orange juice with my breakfast and am steering clear of my usual morning cup of tea. He did mention nuts too so I treated myself to a rather large slab of dairy milk whole nut Wink.

Sorry about your downstairs issues west :( Hopefully it eases soon for you!

Sparklesandglitter · 25/06/2012 13:01

Hi all I was on the 1st thread but went AWOL for a while!! I'm due on the 24th of august but am preparing for an earlier birth due to family history!!! Getting very excited now to meet her Grin but slightly petrified about the birth Sad x

NeedlesCuties · 25/06/2012 13:02

frilly I'm not sure if it's wise to use Anusol or similar cream on your lady parts.... might need to ask a GP or chemist that.... I could ask DH for you, but think you should ask you own doctor Wink

Miggins am sending love to your DDog. I have a bit of a funny story regarding when we got our cat spayed a few years ago. Before we had DS I used to treat my cat like a bit of a baby, and we'd booked her in to get spayed just before Christmas. Anyway, we had all the Christmas decorations up (this was the first Christmas we'd had her) and I was scared that she might climb up near where I'd put lit candles on the mantle piece. So to 'educate' her about lit candles I lifted her up near the candle so she could feel it was warm and not to go near it... so far so good... except I forgot that cats have whiskers and long eyebrows and I managed to singe them!! I could smell the hair as it singed away! Blush DCat wasn't at all fussed and wasn't hurt but I was very upset as she was booked in to be spayed the next day and I had all sorts of fears that the vet would think I had abused her. In the end, she was spayed, vet never said anything about her lack of whiskers/eyebrows and 4 years later all is fine Grin

Westcountrylovescheese · 25/06/2012 13:15

Needles, poor Dcat, ours did that to himself so can't have been too painful for her!

WelshLadyCDF · 25/06/2012 13:20

MrsM I am dropping things all the time, mainly knives in the kitchen, I read that it's normal Confused something to do with our limbs loosening up ready for the birth...

I have just been really sick, eiwwwwwww, I hate being sick maybe I have morning sickness this late on (almost 34 weeks).

I like this thread today, it's tmi Monday!

Can't believe I read about frilly's fanjo before I had my breakfast.

hamncheese · 25/06/2012 13:20

The doc looked at mine west ... but it was okay, just make sure and get a female doctor and preferably one you either like and trust or will never need to see again haha! The docs at my GP are always changing anyway so I've not seen her since. Plus... I really doubt she remembers one bum! If you really don't want them to look though just say what it is... literally all she did for me was go "yes that's one" and I though, well, what else would it be??

Anusol is the cream they gave me, just a heads up it comes in cream or ointment. The ointment sticks and is VERY hard to wash off and I hated it. The cream doesn't stick but it needs put on more. Honestly though, I don't think the cream helped me at all, it was keeping up the fibre and water. Fybogel is a natural fibre increase drink, you add a sachet to water morning and evening, good to take if you know you aren't getting enough fibre from diet and when you have this. Like frilly said stir it and drink quick, if you leave it it goes gloopy! It really helped mine as (TMI) if you are having to push you can get them back all of a sudden.

Aw your singed cat needles! I tend to treat my lot like babies at the moment. Trying to ignore them a bit in prep so they don't suddenly have no interaction. How did yours deal with less time from you?

Glad to head Ddog op went well miggins :) I feel a bit like you do re: DH work too sometimes, I think it's because I don't work; well my work involves a lot of dead people and not much stress (til october 2014 eek) so when DH is all wound up in something so far removed from me and I have nothing to report it feels like he has a whole other life and I'm just the wife at home! Which is not the case at all it's just what happens when you don't work the same hours/same way I guess.

Anyhow finished phd work for the day so going to write an angry email to my estate agent now!

hamncheese · 25/06/2012 13:46

Also, has anyone found they have changed in character a bit since being pregnant. Before I was great at dealing with conflict, especially poor service, angry emails or phone calls, I'd always be happy to deal with agression or whatever from people. But now I can't handle it, since I got pregnant. Even typing an angry email is making me uncomfortable about the response I will get. It's like I just want to keep the peace all the time... becoming a doormat! Maybe its a protective thing for the baby to keep out of fights. Anyone else?

NeedlesCuties · 25/06/2012 13:50

ham my character hasn't changed much with being pregnant, maybe a bit since becoming a mum to DS. But I'm usually quite quick to get into conflicts and rows!

In terms of my DCat, she was a bit peeved when DS came along and she was no longer allowed to sleep upstairs or on our bed. She didn't like DS when he was a crying newborn, but I think that was just because she was confused. She learnt to tolerate him, but now hates him with a passion as he runs around after her, trying to pet her and calling her name very loudly. I don't think cats get on well with toddlers, no matter what that cute Whiskas advert says!

Vinolover · 25/06/2012 13:52

Argh, I now have an awful upset tummy which explains why I had such an appetite yesterday! Have had to call in sick at work as I work with food and I really don't fancy having to rush to the loo every five minutes!

So the final weeks of my pregnancy have consisted in me having thrush (first time ever) which has spread all round my thighs, my vulva varicose vein and now a dodgy tummy! This has got to be my most unglamourous pregnancy to date!!!

Lets hope we all have better luck soon :)

MrsMigginslovespies · 25/06/2012 14:38

GrinGrinGrin at Needles cat. Poor girl. Can't wait to get pup home as feels so empty without her here.
Vino, sorry to hear you're not well. Get better soon. Have suspicion am catching DH's cold as feel bit tickly. Grumble.

Can I ask what you're all doing about knickers for maternity bag/ post birth etc? Do i get massive ones up to my neck to hold everything in? Or under bump ones in case of stitches etc? Or paper? Decisions, decisions. Sounds stupid to ask but am so indecisive at mo.
Ham, I think if anything I'm becoming more stroppy! No mucking about and I wrote a pissy email to Eastcoast last week that resulted in a lengthy apology (no voucher alas) last night.

NeedlesCuties · 25/06/2012 15:34

Miggins during both my pregnancies I read a fair bit about knickers and wondered the same thing you're wondering now. In reality when I packed my hospital bag for having DS I bought a multi-pack of cheap black pants from Matalan (think it was something like 5 pairs for £2.50) and that was it. I got the full brief ones, bit like granny knickers.

I didn't change size on my lower half during the pregnancy so just bought size 12 as normal and wore them with maternity pads or night time sanitary pads.

One thing I will add is that because of my tear from having DS I have never been able to wear a thong since :( Had to bin most of my knicker collection post-birth as I just couldn't bear the feeling of the fabric against my scar. 2.5 years later and it's still the same :(

Lovemarmite · 25/06/2012 15:42

Ham I've become more feisty and have definitely worked on that thicker skin and so now not afraid of getting into conflicts. I don't take any of the emotional blackmail thrown at me from either MIL or mother and so am finding it refreshing! Grin

Hope you're feeling better soon vino! but glad you got some time off work, sounds like you need to stay away from food.
Welsh you too - hope your sickness stops asap!

Oh poor DCat Needles, funny moggy not minding her whiskas singed - sounds a real cutey!

Mrsmiggins I am wondering about getting some cheap cotton M&S knickers that come up high on the waist but not sure? The disposables might be a good idea but not if they're made of something that may cause irritation ... I prefer cotton if I can and throw them away perhaps. Paper sounds good though... Hmm

Westcountrylovescheese · 25/06/2012 15:53

I saw a packet of the disposable knickers in a shop the other day. My feeling is that my dignity loss can only go so far... I'm going for old knickers or cheap primark ones that I can throw away if needed!
