Lovemarmite · 25/06/2012 15:54

Just read your post about the knickers Needles and it sounds a great plan for matalan... sounds like I'll be doing the same.

I'm a little worried about tearing, but I guess as long as LO is healthy and not too traumatised by the whole experience, then I will be happy to deal with whatever happens Blush

frillylemons · 25/06/2012 16:13

Uh oh! Welsh, did my fanjo make you vom up your brekkie?! Blush

Vino...you poor thing!!

I love TMI days, they make me feel more human cause I know I'm not the only one Grin However, it does tickle me when I see you all post things on FB, knowing I know more about you than your pals! Hey ho...I like to have the upper hand Wink

Welcome Nightfall! Congrats on your pregnancy. Care to share any unglamourous side effects of pregnancy? We are open books here!!

31 weeks tomorrow! Ooh I'm all of a tremble! Occasionally I happen upon myself quietly sobbing with joy on the sofa! Get a bit weepy in the evenings (face and fanjo!! Bah ha! Ok, too far...I admit) when I think that I'm actually having a baby!

Anyway. Enough from me.

woopsidaisy · 25/06/2012 16:26

Anyone starting to do their perineal massage? I'm 34 weeks tomorrow and going to start. Apparently this baby is a biggie! Shriek!!!Shock

Biggest tip to avoid tearing IMO, controlled exit. So when midwife says stop pushing,STOP! Then blow, blow, blow...then little push when she tells you. I practise doing this when I do the massage. I imagine pushing really hard then tell myself to stop. Practise blowing.....and little push.BTW, the idea of the blowing is to help you stop pushing, as your body is telling you to push IYKWIM.

Easy as pie, right? Right?!? I'm getting very nervous about delivery, and this is my 3rd time!

woopsidaisy · 25/06/2012 16:28

As an aside, and seeing as we are all sharing TMI, I have been less leaky this pregnancy. Previous ones I was wearing a liner during the day and breast pads.
This time I am much more...erm....dry? Grin Long may it last.

frillylemons · 25/06/2012 16:36

Alright Whoopsi, no need to rub in your lack of leakiness!!

On a more serious note...does anyone else notice days where LO moves less? My LO is def still ok, I can feel the odd wriggle and poke, but not as much as normal...normal?

ishopthereforeiam · 25/06/2012 17:13

Welcome nightfall

vino hope you're feeling better

west sounds painful. Fybogel is good as frilly said, also laxatose on prescription may help but not sure they'll give it if pg? Hope you get better soon.

So started potty training dd today, bend cleaning pee from the floor Hmm and thinking have I really got to do this all AGAIN?!

quickchat · 25/06/2012 17:20

vino or whoever said they had thrush. Acidophilus probiotic, good quality from a fridge in a health store, not from Boots etc. I think mine are Solgar.

It does say check with Doc when Pregnant but any Doc will tell you they are fine. Get high strength ones too. I've taken them through both my last PG and this one as I developed thrush in first PG - not comfortable at all. Also cut out sugar as much as possible. PG hormones create the right environment for thrush and sugar is it's friend.

Lovemarmite · 25/06/2012 17:26

I'm no expert frilly but definitely notice quieter days and some really manic ones. Am 33+2 and there's definitely less space in there, the movements are now less kicks and more huge crazy tummy rolls. I can see how she lies too as I have bulges when she's on one side of me, tbh some of the movements have hurt a wee bit as they're big and she seems to have done a few 180 degree turns, but maybe I'm a real woos!

woopsie loving a controlled exit... must pay attention to the classes that start late July and are practically useless if I'm early! Oh dear really should do private ones I guess?! Gulp.

Leaky, hmm yes! Grin nice! Night time results in waking up half way through wondering if I've wet myself... shower in the morning... does anyone else have this happening at night too? I think it's just sweat and a little of the leaks...

frillylemons · 25/06/2012 17:30

Yup, hats me Marmite! We prob notice it more at night as no knickers are worn!!

My MW is coming out to see me as not feeling too great and she wants to hear LO's heartbeat. Please cross fingers...can't help but feel anxious Sad

Lovemarmite · 25/06/2012 17:51

Hope all is well frilly
keep us posted!

woopsidaisy · 25/06/2012 18:28

I'm sure everything will be fine frilly. It will be lovely and reassuring to hear the heartbeat.
I was admitted with what they thought was a clot on my lung over the weekend! Luckily after tests etc I was able to get home. Was lovely to hear bump on the machine thing...not sure what the technical term is! Grin
Hope all goes well.

frillylemons · 25/06/2012 18:37

Naughty babyfrilly had decided to change position which was why I thought something was wrong/different. MW was lovely and reassuring and we listened to the heartbeat for a good 2 mins :) Phew!

PictureThis · 25/06/2012 18:41

I have noticed quieter days than others but have found that LO moves first thing, is quiet for most of the afternoon and starts up again around now and into the evening. In fact it feels like he's practising Riverdance on my bladder! As for leakage I'm a huge fan of the Tena lights pantyliners to deal with any leakage of sorts. The fact that they're pantyliners makes me feel less like a pissyknickers....oh denial is a wonderful thing. I even wear them in bed at night because I don't like that damp feeling that comes from sweat and leakages. Right that's definitely TMIBlush.
Frilly I hope the midwife has been and all is ok. MrsM thanks for sharing the bakewell pud recipe, I'll try that. I made a cheesecake at the weekend from Nigella's 'Express' recipe book. I piled fresh berries on the top of it and it was absolutely scrummy, looked very impressive too for such a simple recipe. I hope your DDog makes a speedy recovery from her op.

Westcountrylovescheese · 25/06/2012 18:49

Frilly that's great news... I'm getting the feeling that these little ones bring worry that will never stop!

eightieshopaholic · 25/06/2012 19:56

So glad for the tmi, thought was just me woke today with leakage!!

Started to wash baby clothes feels so weird looking at the line with little babygro's!!

Not ever really had big kicks but now its more rolls and wiggles, baby is head down so really hope stays this way 33+1 today.

Vinolover · 25/06/2012 20:05

Phew, am feeling so much better now and I'm starving! I never, ever eat in the evening but have just had to have a ham sandwhich, bag of salted french fries and a go ahead biscuit thingy!

This baby is really giving me sharp pains in my hips and pelvis. It feels like he's stretching it all apart and I can't work out if it's his arms or legs Confused Roll on next week when hopefully the MW can shed some light!

I'm going to be buying full knickers from asda that actually come in handy later on as period knickers Wink (that's if they don't get ruined). Don't buy them too big though as you need plenty of support down there!

Glad young frilly is all ok in there! I had to have a listen in earlier at my baby and it took a while to find him which freaked me out! He was just in a awkward position though. Roll on the next 7 weeks!!!

Picture I have the Nigella express book and the pear and chocolate pudding is amazing!!!

MrsMigginslovespies · 25/06/2012 20:44

Glad everything's ok Frilly. Scary stuff though.

Thanks too on knicker-related advice. Am going to get some cheapo ones from supermarket then that are granny-esque. Delightful.

Had antenatal class number tonight on what happens when things don't got to plan which was interesting. Have to gear myself up to the fact that there's a chance I'll need ventouse/forceps etc due to baby position/anterior placenta/etc. Joy. More people turned up today (still only 4 in total) but on-one really spoke except me who felt like a know-all by the end!

Picked up a tragic DDog who hasn't moved in three hours, bless her. She looks like she's been zipped up and I feel so bad for her. The Surgery were so nice to me, as they could see I was quite emotional Blush and gave me lots of advice and reassurance. What am I going to be like with a baby?!

Another TMI question: what are people doing about waxing/shaving/etc down there pre-birth? I'm tempted to get a good wax as don't fancy a bic job in the hospital. Dunno. Another delightful dilemma, but it's becoming tricky...!

ffscatmove · 25/06/2012 21:12

MrsM I have also gone the Matalan route - 5 pairs 'full briefs' for £2, te disposable ones are just too vile
Loving the TMI, was getting thoroughly Blush at my general 'moistness' - can I add snotty nose to the list or running parts?! Making me feel much better listening to everyone else!

Glad all was ok Frilly, I get quiet days too but I think it's when LO turns face in - my placenta is high & anterior so if the kicks are towards my back I don't feel a thing - which is starting to be quite a bonus!

ffscatmove · 25/06/2012 21:16

Aaah MrsM poor DDog - sure she'll be fine, if anything like our previous DCat she'll sleep for 24 hours then spend the next few weeks trying to get at the stitches & being a pain!

Am also wondering about the ladt gardening situation, usually use an epilator but can no longer do so safely - going to investigate local places for sugaring tomorrow as my skin was never too keen on wax!

Anyway, strawberries & ice cream are calling me... nom nom nom Grin

tashaw28 · 25/06/2012 22:12

ffscat yes to the nose too! And blood every night up till about 3 weeks ago, now just occassionally, not a nose bleed just on the tissue (TMI?!!)

Glad everyone that was poorly today is feeling better, frilly weirdly my bump's been having a slow day too, not as active as usual, but moving enough for me not to rush to the hosp.

Got loads of Clarins samples today for the hosp bag, they're so good at giving them out, a quick rub of bump whilst waiting and they hand them over!
Made a choc sheet cake this afternoon which has come out huge, guess whose going to have to eat it all? GrinGrin

frillylemons · 25/06/2012 22:46

Oh you're all so lovely Grin Have some frilly love ...

Well, exciting stuff...girl that was on my TTC thread has just had her baby! Makes it all seem real!

Westcountrylovescheese · 26/06/2012 06:37

Ahem... with regards to lady gardening, I will be employing DH and a pair of clippers for a discreet 'tidy' nearer the time. I find wax painful at the best of times, couldn't imagine it on a overheated swollen lady garden! Grin

WelshLadyCDF · 26/06/2012 07:33

... I think I might just throw some Veet down there and hopes that does the trick!

hamncheese · 26/06/2012 08:33

Well I'm off to maternity assessment shortly :( last night in bed watching tv started to feel itchy, got worse and worse til itching all over. Managed to sleep a bit but still itchy this morning so googled it and apparently it can be a liver issue so called and have to go in now. Hope it's nothing to worry about but also that this awful itch goes away it's like tiny bugs crawling all over me skin constantly :(

NeedlesCuties · 26/06/2012 09:23

ham hope all goes well for you and your mind is put at ease.

Miggins with DS's pregnancy I just left my pubic hair as it was. No one shaved it, cut it etc either during labour or for stitching me up. Planning to just leave it the same this time round too.

I know years ago it was standard practice to shave every woman who came into hospital in labour, but I don't think anywhere in UK still does that as it isn't needed.

Plus I never tidy up my pubic hair normally so I don't think being heavily preggers is the time for me to start Wink
