Busy busy today all... not going to add my usual inane commentary but it's nice to catch up with everyone on here in our antenatal club Wink

Thanks for asking about house progress miggins nothing yet but I don't think they have changed all the listings on websites yet. They are going to do a mailshot of it to lots of potential buyers so maybe some viewings by the weekend.

I always feel down in the evenings due to the discomfort now. Try not to let it get to me but it's hard to feel happy when your feet ache from that small walk earlier and ribs feel like they are cracking cause of the pizza you just had! Feel more positive in the mornings though so ignore my negativity just venting!

I have definitely got pretty well swollen hands now. Does anyone else's hands feel constantly warm, like on fire hot all the time? And also a bit like it's harder to grip things cause of the heat/swelling? Typing seems to inflame them more which is irritating as I'm in the process of typing up what will be 10,000 words to the phd!!!

Anyway tomorrow is my weekly Dad trip hehe Grin he's taking me to Dumbarton Castle...part of my research this time to see the prison cells. Fun times for all the family.

Have a good evening all, off to watch the football with DH (I swear this isn't me) and wearing my (previously) ironic "what's life without football?" socks mwaha!

signet2012 · 19/06/2012 20:04

Welsh lady - it feels great doesn't it!!! I'm So excited at the prospect of no alarm after months of watching the clock all night to fall asleep q hour before my alarm goes off!!

I have a huge list of jobs to do including sorting out baby room so I will be kept busy but plenty of time for mn Grin

I haven't had time off work since I left school thinking about not being back in the bloody place til may 2013 makes me all excited!

WelshLadyCDF · 19/06/2012 20:23

Signet - I WISH I needed an alarm to wake me am up from 4am most days! We have wardrobes fitted tomorrow and after that I can start on the nursery corner in our room. I have odd jobs to do but am really going to rest up as much as I can ready for what's ahead.
I must admit I feel odd about not working, I've not had time off since school, I feel like I have given up my job, even though (civil service) they have to keep my job for me no doubt there will be big changes when I go back.
Can't believe there's nothing girlie on tv tonight esp as my DP is in the pub watching the game!

eightieshopaholic · 19/06/2012 20:32

Hi all, I have my 32 week scan tomorrow nervous excited partner coming with me he works ages away so mom usually comes with me so she's being a nightmare thinks she's missing out!!

Have my hospital visit Sunday to see labour ward kinda not looking forward to imaging screaming and pain.

I need a huge kick up the arse off positivity still keep imagining everything going wrong think because happened to two friends, manta needs be everything going to be ok!!!

frillylemons · 19/06/2012 20:35

32 week scan eighties? I'm jealous! How'd you wangle that?

WelshLadyCDF · 19/06/2012 20:37

80's here is a nice mantra / affirmation that our NCT teacher sent us:

I am strong enough to birth my baby, and to cope with whatever comes my way.

eightieshopaholic · 19/06/2012 20:45

frillylemons

I have colits and chrohns and have to take medication, so have scans at 28 32 and 36 weeks to check he's growing correctly, have to admit its so nice to keep seeing him x

ontheedgeofwhatever · 19/06/2012 20:48

Eighties - is it a growth scan? If so don't be disappointed if its over very quickly and not detailed like the 12 and 20 week scans. I had one at 29 weeks, one at 32 weeks and I'll have another at 35 weeks. Its lovely to see baby but over so quickly.

I hope it goes well for you whatever the reason for the scan, seeing baby is a wonderful thing. As for labour and birth most likely everything will be OK really (yes it will hurt but its purposeful constructive pain and when you're holding your gorgeous baby you'll soon forget about all that)

sc0ttishlass · 19/06/2012 20:53

evening all - frilly - jealous that you still have grey's to watch... i finished it a while back - roll on the next season :)

re the 32 week scan not sure if its for same reason but I have mine tomorrow - and its because I have low lying placenta - if it hasnt moved - they will check again in a few weeks but risk that a planned C section is required. Well, thats why I have mine anyway :)

eighties.. oh, hadnt thought about a hospital visit - i hope i get one!!!

Ham - yes, I get the hands thing too - usually in afternoon, a few times i have a hot flush and my hands go all hot and sweaty - very odd.

anyway - off to bed as was up late last night - need to think of the things I want to ask midwife that I have forgotten to note down!

good sleep vibes coming to all :)
xx

missjemima · 19/06/2012 21:09

Hi Everyone!

Just finishing off a four day weekend here... Back to work tomorrow - really not looking forward to the alarm going off at six! Ah well, only 2.5 weeks left at work then mat leave... Cannot wait!

My bump feels massive too, everyone keeps saying it looks like its dropped and it 'could be any day now' I just smile and nod... I'm 33 + 4 and ds1 arrived at 36 + 5 so I guess it could be soon... I don't feel ready yet, but I suppose it's not up to me anymore Grin frantically washing baby clothes and packing hospital bags in case.

No complaints otherwise, just the usual heartburn and geriatric penguin waddle most mornings...

Wishing all of you a good sleep tonight, hell, we all deserve it!!

Xx

ishopthereforeiam · 19/06/2012 21:17

Ham enjoy the family day out tomorrow!

Had 32 week scan today all ok - baby ds weighing in at 4lb 6 and they estimate birth weight to be around 3kg although could be a bit lighter as he'll be out 2 weeks early at 38 weeks. They have also upgraded at UCH and got a 3d pic of ds. He looks exactly like dd did when she was born (spitting image of dh as a baby)

ontheedge very sorry to hear about losing your first. Induction def sounds like the way forward for you.

My copy of 50 shades has been dispatched by amazon - looking fwd to reading but pissed off the yucky daily mail (I only bought it as it had a body shop voucher in it!) said it is mummy porn for middle aged women - I don't know how old you have to be to be middle aged but didn't like that comment Angry

for those of you taking sick leave prior to mat leave be careful and check your Ts and Cs first as some employers can enforce your mat leave start date as earlier (when you go off sick) if the sick leave is linked to pregnancy (am a boring lawyer...)

Ok waiting for footy to finish to watch sth good although very disappointed in true love looked so good in trailers, so rubbish so far...

hey everyone no not feeling better cold is still here with added chesty cough which woke me and a very worried dh up at 2.30 this morn! feeling very weezey at times and coughing up horrid tasting green phlem! Yuk! Work was very tiring today but only cos of my cold! I finish on the 16th July but only work 2 days a week so not sure how many days of work i have left.

Mil and niece are here now which is lovely though she had gone on a kitchen cleaning frenzy (am not complaining) that included cleaning the outside of the washing machine Confused!! oh well each to there own! midwife tmw hoping lo has turned head down then i can stop worrying about loosing my home birth! didn't even know there was an antenatal clubs section!!

Everyone always says how small my bump is i just smile and say it was smaller with my last so it feels big to me!

susiegrapevine · 19/06/2012 22:06

oh yeah forgot to say just finished watching touch on sky which is a fab series for whoever it was looking for a boxset tho not sure if there is one yet!

McBaby · 20/06/2012 02:35

ishop can't they only force maternity leave if your signed off after 36 weeks? And from reading direct.gov they have very little choice and have to automatically do this if your off for any pregnancy related illness after 36 weeks.

I have been signed off since 26 weeks so was a concerned about it starting then. It used to be any sick leave after 29 weeks but the changed it a couple of years ago.

geekette · 20/06/2012 06:52

Thanks for the reminder for positive messages!

I realised yesterday that i love flaunting my bump Grin I am not planning on any more kids although it is not ruled out completely. potentially this could be my only pregnancy and i am secretly so proud of being with child!

i am really happy my third trimester is in summer and i can wander around in tight white t-shirts and leave nothing to the imagination!

one of my little joys of pregnancy Wink

geekette · 20/06/2012 06:55

hmm i don't know mcbaby. my company definitely has the mat leave starts on sick leave clause without a time limit mentioned anywhere.
but i read it ages ago. maybe i need to check again.

Westcountrylovescheese · 20/06/2012 06:59

Grin That's great to hear Geekette!

I am noticing that people are definitely starting to notice the bump now. I know what you mean, it makes me smile inside a little bit. I have had a bit of a growth spurt over the last week or so, bump is more prominent!

33+1 today...!

Glimpers · 20/06/2012 08:14

Blimey, I lost the thread yesterday and only found it last night and had over 30 new posts to read through!
Hope everyone is ok?
Lovely sunny day here Smile hope the sun has reached everyone else.
Well, I currently have no kitchen Sad builder started yesterday and took everything out ready to start putting the new one in today. So we have no water in the kitchen, no washing machine, no dishwasher and the entire contents of the kitchen in boxes, in our lounge! It is not helping my obsessive need to clean and tidy anything that is not nailed down at the moment Grin
Will hopefully have some sort of order to the chaos by Friday evening keeps everything crossed
So I'm off to do some retail therapy today to get some new bits for the kitchen and some more baby related stuff. Hoping to make a start on my hospital bag next week so am writing a list of what I need to buy.
Have a lovely day all.

Whiteangel · 20/06/2012 09:50

Glimpers, we have only had a sink and a fridge for five weeks now. Sink is being moved into the utility room today but will hopefully be working by the time we get back from work tonight. I sent an email enquiry to a local nursery as a friend told us she had struggled to get her DS into nursery after he was born. We are looking at Easter 2013 but the owner has just called to invite us to go and look round but mentioned that they already have bookings for 2014! Really hope we like it as it is two mins walk from our house which would be fab. Any tips re what to look for and what questions to ask? Might take my mum too as she is an early years specialist (retired but sure she would still have a good idea what makes a good nursery).
Woken up this morning with awful pain in my left hip. Had problems with it a couple of years ago but it had been ok so far and was more the SPD causing me problems. Going to the midwife at 11:30 and see what she says but think I over did it at work yesterday. Going to drive our new car for the first time today. Excited but reluctant as driving seems to make SPD worse. Got to get to midwife's and then on to work so not much choice. Enjoy the sunshine everyone!

MrsMigginslovespies · 20/06/2012 09:52

Geekette, so sweet! I know exactly what you mean, it's lovely! I'm 32 weeks today and can't believe it. My update thing tells me baby is getting nice and fat, might have hair and is sleeping a lot. So exciting, can't wait to meet him.

Beautiful and sunny here today. DH is off camping tonight with the kids, then tomorrow, I'm at Mum's for my Lazy Daisy class, so feel I've hardly seen him as we were both away last week too. Hey ho, roll on school hols.

Have a good day everyone

The3Bears · 20/06/2012 10:01

Glimpers · 20/06/2012 11:10

White I feel faint at the thought of only having a sink and a fridge for 5 weeks!! How on earth have you coped?!?
bears am 'mid-spree' and loving it Grin
Have bought some kitchen stuff but then got suckered in and bought some new make up bits as I look like an old hag a bit rough and needed cheering up Smile is that bad to be so self-indulgent???
Now enjoying a latte and some cake before recommencing my therapy Grin

tashaw28 · 20/06/2012 11:48

Morning all!
I just looked after my friends 6 week old DD for an hour as a favour and totally forgot how to change a nappy, v embarrassing!!! I managed to get yellow poo on the new clean nappy and my trousers!!! So out of practiceWink

sc0ttishlass · 20/06/2012 13:36

hey all, fair play to those of you without kitchens ;) although just think of the end result - a new baby AND a new kitchen :) (I am obsessed by all things kitchen and get laughed at by friends for my love of Emma bridgewater etc) :)

so... had my scan this morning - and not idea results - a) the placenta hasnt moved really - so, I have to go back in 4 weeks for a further scan to check - if still hasnt moved will be a planned section at 38/39 weeks. I'm fine either way - just wish I knew now! in some ways would be happy with teh section as would like to know the arrival date!!!

  • and b) - the baby is massive! it is above average and in the 95th percentile or something - they told me not to bother with newborn clothes. So they are testing for diabastes but dont think i have as never been any sugar in urine etc.. i asked if it is down to my eating (particularly my obsession with tunnocks tea cakes!) they laughed and said no - some people just have big babies... and that if too big its fine - if too small more concerned... So... i await those results - and I await the scan in 4 weeks - meanwhile just have to watch out for bleeds etc.

on the plus side got to see the bump again on the scan and she gave me some more pictures.

and for some reason i now feel exhausted - tempted to email boss and say im taking rest of day off ill as want to go to bed!

so thats news with me! could have baby 6 weeks on monday instead of 8 weeks on monday :)

xx

frillylemons · 20/06/2012 14:26

Ooh Sc0ttish that must've been nice to see the baby again! You must be glad that they are poss talking about a section. Hopefully the next 4 weeks will whizz by :)

Well, it is a beautifully sunny day here which makes a super change! Saying that, it was lovely yesterday too. DH and I had a really nice evening.

Re Grey?s Anatomy, I just realised that we have finished Season 7 but that Season 8 has just finished in the USA. DH and I are going to have a look on some US websites (we have a VPN which enables us to watch stuff streamed from America) and try to watch season 8?apparently it?s epic!!
