Ham I have found the bath thingy on Argos wesite. Costs £6.99 the code number is 833/3188. Would be a good idea, only I'm not making it into the bath anymore as I would need a crane to lift me out, so showers only!

Susie hope you are feeling better today.

Geekette I have had a healthy breakfast of hot chocolate followed by one ok two jam donuts and I don't care who knows it!

Ontheedge hope you are not so itchy today, I know how you must be feeling. I get eczema really bad on my legs, feels sooooo good to scratch but then in pain for the rest of the day from over doing it. I put on sudocrem which cools it down slightly.

Quickchat yes please to the 1 hour labour, that's why I plan on homebirth as it takes nearly an hout to get to the hospital and I fear I may not make it!!

RowanMumsnet · 19/06/2012 10:50

Hi all,

Just to let you know, we've moved this thread to 'antenatal clubs' as it's a more appropriate topic for it.

Thanks,

The3Bears · 19/06/2012 10:51

Morning everyone,

woopsi My bump feels massive to me but yesterday some mums at school were saying I was tiny!!! certainly made me feel better Grin Still havent done one bump photo I will get dp to do one after :)

ham yes try argos maybe they have them, I could do with one actually but our bath is a corner one so will have to do without :(

scottish Dont panic about your 2 stretch marks, I bio oiled everyday when pregnant with ds and still got them in my last week being pregnant :( but they do fade the worst thing is that you cant always see them with your bump and then after having baby you see the ones underneath Shock but most people get them and tbh I dont think any cream can prevent them.
I havent had a letter from hospital at all but my midwife reccomended an active birth class but im still debating about it as I am the type of person who gets v anxious and worried if I think about something too much, and I think if I go to the class it will just make me v nervous about giving birth when I actually feel okay about it atm. So using the motto 'ignorance is bliss' and focusing on the positives that I will get a gorgeous baby at the end of it and hopefully a quick couple of hours of labour Hmm okay I can dream Grin

I havent seen what to expect, I was trying to persuade dp to come with me to watch it but he wasnt v keen he wants to watch prometheus.

good luck with your scan ishop

Hope everyone has a lovely day :)

The3Bears · 19/06/2012 11:03

38! Ishop your so lucky I still have 53. Has everyone washed all babys clothes etc as Im debating doing some today but wondering if it's too early ?

sc0ttishlass · 19/06/2012 11:46

thanks I shop and 3 bears - might get some of that oil - i already had the burts bees mama stuff and the body shop oil! and 3 bears you are right - they are low and i hadnt seen before as cant see past the bump!! all so attractive :)

i think i may go and see what to expect tomorrow - husband away in london with work as usual and much as he has said he wants to see it - whenever i suggest he has other plans ;)

havent washed the baby clothes yet - goign to wait till its a 100% sunny day to get out on the washing line - will probably just do a few of them, that i plan to take in hospital bag..

cant believe we are counting in days now - how scary is that! think i have 62 left if my maths is correct, 28 at work unless i take a weeks leave extra in which case 23 :) (feeling v weird about having no work given worked since left uni all those years ago).
xx

ImissMiniPop · 19/06/2012 12:02

Scottish don't worry about feeling weird re no work. I properly left them in the lurch and can honestly say I've not had time or energy to worry about it. :o

I can imagine it might be the same with a new baby :)

how exciting, not long now for some. Who's due first? (or should that be next??? I :))

Lovemarmite · 19/06/2012 12:21

Morning or rather it's now afternoon and I've not started my work yet, oops!
I couldn't find our thread and see that we've been moved to the antenatal area - that explains it, phew!

Not washing baby clothes yet but planning to do it early'ish next month. I'm getting very keen on getting everything needed now and then I can really start to think about the birth etc. I'm with you 3bears I'm okay with the birth atm but if I start to really think about it, I might just not be. I've decided that firstly I'm going to read my degree book on anatomy and learn about the process in a technical perspective and then look at the more emotional stuff afterwards. I find the books/CDs are a bit emotive and I'm the type of person that just needs it straight and then I can understand what's happening.

sc0ttish I'm using the Neals yard Mothers Balm and finding it really good, I started to use it at 20 weeks and there's tons left and so I think it'll go far and maybe afterwards too for a while. They do a barrier cream for LO too and so might look into that too.
Got my NHS antenatal classes through - I'll be 38 weeks by the time I start them - pretty late and so mw is coming round to go through birthing options with us. Also looking at a Lazy Daisy couples 4 hour session for £75, but I'll be 36 weeks when that class will be held and so I'm hoping to be in control of what to think by then, hmmm wishful thinking here! Wink

Quick question - I feel like my uterus does judders at times and wonder if it's the placenta because of the weight or if LO is doing little judders herself. Is anyone else feeling this weird juddery too?

The3Bears · 19/06/2012 13:10

Yes to judders marmite it's v strange now as I dont feel kicks so much as a foot sticking out or a bum Grin obviously because it's so cramped in there now baby cant sommersault or kick out as much, getting loads of BH atm aswell, they dont hurt just feel abit funny and like someone else said it does feel as if someone is pulling your skin v tight from behind.

When in labour with ds1 I was v calm and controlled through the contractions so much so that My mum, sister, nephew and dp were in the room and I didnt feel in pain. And then when I was about 9cm I had a different midwife who wanted to break my waters she just kept saying The contractions will really kick in and hurt once Ive broken the waters, it will come on really strong! and that was it I was hysterical and petrified and lost all sense of calm etc really frustrated me as I felt great before that :( Hoping for a much more positive experience this time and going to stay at home for as long as possible and hope for a lovely midwife that is supportive :)

Think i'll wait until July aswell marmite otherwise I may end up washing them again Grin

Not sure who is due next poppy it's not long at all now though, ds finishes school in just over 5 weeks and 2 weeks later im due Shock Hope Thomas is doing well!

NeedlesCuties · 19/06/2012 13:20

Hi!

Haven't been posting for a few days, but have been lurking.

Bit annoyed as I had an appointment with the hospital Consultant booked for this morning to discuss my diagnosis of Group B Strep (GBS) and what they were going to do while I was in labour and with baby after he/she is born.

Got friend to mind DS, DH and I went to hospital. Got called after waiting an hour Hmm wasn't even the Consultant we saw but a Doctor not long qualified who looked about 20 and she basically just rattled off the info that was in the leaflet about GBS. I had been doing my own reading online and seemed to know as much as she did. She also had a mini panic when DH told her that he is a Doctor and used to work in the job she's in Grin

She was very lovely, but just feel like we trekked the whole way there, sorted childcare and for what? On the plus side, she did my measurements and did another scan to check position and growth. All seems fine, although once again we didn't get to see what sex baby is as he/she had legs crossed!

Have another appt at 36 weeks and will get a scan then too. Hopefully will get to see then, or else just wait till he/she is born and we'll know for sure!

(30+4.... I think!)

NeedlesCuties · 19/06/2012 13:24

Here is the list! Haven't heard from a good number of these ladies for a while, but have left them all on the list.

ontheedge this is a shout-out for you!!!! You've been posting, but I don't have your stats. Please can you tell me them so I can add them on? If you don't want to that's fine, just asking.

Thanks :)

Shriek!

Scottishlass I just worked out that I am due in 51 days!
How is that possible?

I have obviously missed something about washing baby clothes...never did this before. Is everyone doing that?Confused

alisonmcg · 19/06/2012 13:46

Hi everyone!

Been a few days since I last posted and have loads of posts to catch up on! Also see that we've been moved!

rumours so sorry to hear your news, I hope you're feeling as okay as you can at times like this.

I've just finished reading the 50 shades trilogy, was pretty good! The first one is definitely the ahem raunchiest! I have to say though that while the actual plot is quite good I did quickly tire of all the 'spicy' bits, I just thought "yeah I've got the message now, the two of you like to have sex ALOT, can we get on with the story now please?" They are worth a read though!

I'm 30+3 now and getting a lot of back aches. Some are self-inflicted like on Sunday when I went into a bit of a cleaning frenzy and pretty much crippled myself! Got a row from my mum, my granny and DP for that! Had to pretty much use DP as a zimmer frame to get to the toilet etc was in so much pain! Also practically every day now the right hand side of my back, underneath my shoulder blade gets quite sore and uncomfortable. It is always the right side so don't know if it's something to do with where the baby is lying and straining one side of my body to compensate but it's making me very uncomfortable at my desk at work all day. And as soon as the pain starts (can be early on in the day) nothing can be done to relieve it, no amount of stretching, changing position etc so start to get a bit down about it when it starts up because I know that's me going to be in pain for the rest of the day! Sorry, moan over!

ham hope things start to progress with the sale of your flat and that it works out with buying the house that you've seen!

Enjoy the rest of the day :)

signet2012 · 19/06/2012 15:42

Well sick note went in today for four weeks, leading me up til I start my holidays prior to Mat leave. They took it ok.

It feels GREAT!!!!

Contemplating splashing out on a box of fruit pastile ice lollies and writing a list of jobs I want to get done in the house.

MrsMigginslovespies · 19/06/2012 15:53

Hello all (it' sunny here today),

So, just had yet another MW appointment and all is fine. Now measuring the right size again, as was bit worried last time that baby seemed to be small, but it all depends on how baby is lying. And turns out, he's head down still, but back to back, which isn't ideal...my friend found my old gym ball, so am going to bounce about on that a bit and see if it helps. Mentioned to MW my fears of going to the loo and also tearing, so have now got an official request for an episiotomy if needed rather than tearing. Makes my tummy feel odd when I think about it.

Lovemarmite, my aunt very kindly bought me that Neal's Yard barrier cream for the baby, as her daughter used it on her twins and it was the BEST thing ever. It's very thick, almost like a wax, so a pot lasts ages.

I've been religiously slathering on the biooil for months, and so far, so good. I used it a lot post surgery too, and it does help I think. I did treat myself to the Mamamio oil at the weekend, as biooil had finished, and it smells lovely and was nice to apply.

Re juddery feelings, yes I've had that a bit, and it's really odd. Feels like it's also right inside my vagina which I hate but imagine that his head is right on top, so easy enough to bounce off me!

Am going to do my big JL order tonight to get the last few things (monitor etc) and am quite excited. Can't wait to have everything all ready and lovely for the baby in his nursery (assuming it ever gets done!).

Hope everyone's ok today - can't believe how fast the time is going. Ham, any advance on the house stuff? x

frillylemons · 19/06/2012 15:55

Needles, you're nicer than me, Id've taken them off the list if they've not been on for so long. Kinda makes you wonder why though...I hope everything is ok with them.

Well, work is stressing me out, but I am thinking, 'only 19 more full days then 2 weeks of half days'. It's kinda my mantra at the moment!!

I am 30 weeks today Grin which is incredibly exciting! Had my 30 week midwife appointment and I'm measuring 31cm (grown 3cm in 2 weeks) which is good...at least baby isn't too small!

To be honest, I am a bit nervous about reading 50 Shades, it sounds really raunchy!

Lovemarmite · 19/06/2012 16:02

Ooo I really felt for you with your description of last time and being relaxed and then how mw interfered 3bears. Thanks for the heads up, really helpful for what to expect in mw possibilities!

Also definitely having the BHs then, tried to explain it a few weeks ago to the mw and she looked blankly at me. I guess I wasn't describing it correctly Confused but the feeling of skin being stretched around behind you is definitely weird and I think I get them fairly regularly and I have to sit down. I had some in mothercare and they don't have any chairs, odd that it's a baby and maternity shop and when you need to sit, there's nothing around. The manager just stared at me and passed me his chair as I was having a moment of need! DH looked at me in concern but I tried to feign being fine as the feeling was making me feel odd!

alison I've been getting back ache too for past few weeks, tends to be in the evenings mainly but I've adopted my thermaline pillow for my back support in front of the TV and it's such a relief as I can sit upright. The pain is at the top too but kind of all over and hurts when I breathe and move. Yet another moment of needing to sit down!

Really painful hips now in morning and don't want to get up! Not going to moan, but wow they hurt and I have to hobble around all morning, not sure if its SPD or just to be expected with the ligaments softening and the pelvis widening?!

Needles thanks for the updated list, and cricky I bet the trip to the hospital was annoying!

woopsiedaisy I think washing takes chemicals out from the dying process or something like that? I bet someone else has more of a clue?!

Just ordered a mattress protector for our bed as paranoid of waters breaking and destroying our mattress in one go! Am buying moses basket, bedding and changing mat tomorrow and organising hospital bags too.
Sorry this is such a long post!

Lovemarmite · 19/06/2012 16:16

MrsMiggins great to hear your mw appointment went well and LO is measuring correctly. LO here was 1 cms too big at my last appointment and so you're giving me hope!
I think I have 'the getting it all ready now' bug as you. DH said that we should just buy what we need so we have it and then worry about cash flow afterwards, hmm Hmm and he's the sensible one?!

The cot bed and chest of drawers are arriving next Tuesday, DH finishing painting at weekend, black out blind arriving some time next week and I'm going to order some wall stickers from Hamill baby. Hopefully by the end of month, it'll all look like it's happening because right now the room is half painted, there's stuff everywhere to trip on and bags of things needing to go to the charity shop.

WelshLadyCDF · 19/06/2012 16:49

signet I have also been signed off until the start of my maternity, it means that i can sleep in the daytime which makes up for lack of sleep at night and am able to swim which is helping my bad back.

My bump is massive!

33 weeks tomorrow x

ontheedgeofwhatever · 19/06/2012 17:02

Welshlady - sorry - they're inducing me at 38 weeks because I lost my first at 38+5 :( I really don't want to take the risk again and they'll induce earlier if they think its necessary

ontheedgeofwhatever · 19/06/2012 17:12

On a more cheerful note - is anyone getting fed up of having their size commented on? I pick dd up from school and if I hear one more mum in the playground say something along the lines of "hey you're huge, can't be long now" I will honestly smack them Grin also

No I haven't asked if its a girl or a boy since you asked me yesterday I just want a healthy baby

No I don't know what date I'll go into labour I can only tell you my due date

No I don't want to discuss my sleeping patterns with you - FFS I've only met you twice to say hello and now you're racing across the playground to quiz me

Yes it is obviously DPs what the hell makes you ask that? Confused

and finally Just because you're a midwife in your day job I don't need you to race up to me and feel my bump every day and enquire after my health everyday just to check everything is OK - don't you get enough of that at work? Perhaps I should bring you a daily urine sample? Thank God you're not MY midwife

Phew i feel better now - anyone else want to rant with me

The3Bears · 19/06/2012 17:47

ontheedge That sounds annoying, I cant say the same though everyone has been v nice to me when picking up ds from school just asking how longs left and if babys a boy or girl, I do get bored of everyone staring at my bump but it could be worse.

frillylemons · 19/06/2012 18:00

I think we need some positive posts! I'm too tired for down stuff...had it all day at work, not that you all know that.

The sun is shining!! Smile Who has lovely plans for tonight? DH and I are going to walk the dog along the beach and then snuggle up and finish Grey's Anatomy Season 7 Grin

PictureThis · 19/06/2012 18:25

Hello all, I saw the physio today about my pelvic pain and she told me that my pelvis is very assymetrical as one side of it has moved, hence the pain. She stretched and rotated the right side of it (which felt heavenly) and has given me a belt to wear and exercises to do. I'm off work now until Sunday night to try and rest it and see if it improves. Fingers crossed it does. I've also had a lovely pedicure today and my toenails are painted in red Rockstar shellac, they look fabulous. The poor woman barely made a dent in the hard skin on my heels so I think I may have to see if DH has got some heavy duty sandpaper in his van, he's a joiner, failing that i'll have to pay the chiropodist a visit. Has anyone been to one?

MrsMigginslovespies · 19/06/2012 18:40

Oooh Frilly am Envy Envy Envy at your GA viewing tonight. It's one of my favourite programmes ever and I can only watch now on box sets as don't have Living here. Enjoy for me Smile.

Lovemarmite · 19/06/2012 19:02

We've not yet watched GA yet...
can recommend the Good Wife though - great series!
Plus Battlestar Galactica if you like that sort of thing... plus Sopranos and 24.
Need to find a new box set soon as running out of stuff to watch - any suggestions warmly appreciated!

Not been really felt up yet and no one has commented on my bump, I tend to obviously walk around frowning at everyone! :o

Beautiful evening for the beach frilly hope he loves it!
We too are on the seaside and so can see a glimpse of it from mw window, nice!
