Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
frillylemons · 18/06/2012 14:34

Oh Geekette, I feel your pain! Ignore them, ishop is right :)

Well I am thoroughly pissed off with Saga. DH works for them and has done for about 7 years. He hasn't applied to have Christmas off in the last six years, but he applied for it this year as we have the baby coming.

Well, the bastards denied him the annual leave. I couldn't believe it. So Angry

On another note, I am looking to join NCT and do antenatal yoga :) I think their courses sound like they could be good and for £4 a months could be well worth it!

pintofmilk · 18/06/2012 14:46

Marmite I have just ordered 50 shades on Amazon, my sister is reading it and all the ladies in her office are too. She said it is great, easy reading. It is about BDSM ( bondage, domination etc) so sounds like fun Grin!!

pintofmilk · 18/06/2012 14:50

Miggins re the BH, this is DC 3, and I didn't get any with DC 1. Only had a few in the last 2 weeks with DC 2. HOWEVER this time I have been getting them daily for the last couple of weeks.

My stomach goes rock hard for about 20 seconds, then relaxes. It is not painful as such but does make you hold your breath when you get a fair few in a row! Shock

fairtradelu · 18/06/2012 15:22

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to say thanks for info on washing - will def do a wash of all clothes once we've bought the vests etc. needed for hospital bag.

Just ignore all that nonsense about watching every bite you eat Geekette. I've got the What to Expect app and most of the advice just seems to exist to inspire guilt. Eat when you are hungry and go with what you feel like - just try and maintain a rough balance.

I've taken to eating at least one steak a week (solely for iron purpose of course) and yesterday just had to have chocolate cake with custard - I guess it must be the calcium in the custard :) I'd already had big hot choc and lemon cheesecake at Cafe Nero earlier on but hey ho, walking around shops is a tiring business!

Good luck with flat Ham. Fingers crossed a buyer will be just round the corner!

ImissMiniPop · 18/06/2012 15:44

Geekette hugs and ignore everyone, eat whatever you like and enjoy it. :o I am sure bubs is fine and will be fine.

I have to say, I ate a whole pack of salami and parma ham the other day, goats cheese, and making my way through all the other off limits stuff :o

not drinking caffeine still or alcohol though as MiniPop needs good quality milk to help him grow.

frilly that's utterly shit of them. Hope he can work something out :(

ishopthereforeiam · 18/06/2012 16:41

frilly that's awful of them!

I've also ordered 50 shades Grin

Ham we're not in a chain per se as borrowing ridiculous amounts of money from family but have put our place on the market (so we can pay them all back!). The feedback on people viewing our place drives me nuts (wanted an open plan kitchen ours isn't - why don't they look at the details in advance!? probably overkeen estate agent)...

ImissMiniPop · 18/06/2012 16:51

I need to sell my Red Hot Chilli Peppers tickets for Sat, it's at Knebworth. Seated tickets, if anyone happens to know anyone who wants em and can offer me a good price :o

geekette · 18/06/2012 18:12

Aww you guys are great. Thanks for all the hugs and encouragement. Seriously cannot phantom how I could have got through without this group.

Just had a doughnut in defiance. Feeling normal again.

lemons is it legal to not take vacation during the year? We get forced to take ours where I work... Anything your dh can do against their decision?

Re: Cellular blankets: There is a baby swap clothes center near where I live. My MW pointed me to it. They have loads of these blankets there... Maybe you don't need to buy one and can borrow until baby grows out of it and then give it back. Here it is a free service to all expecting mums.

Re: BH: I have no understanding of my body and its fabulous changes at the moment. My tum does a thing where I feel really uncomfortable for a very short period of time but it isn't painful and the tum doesn't feel hard. it just feels very bloated and about to burst for a few seconds. Could these also be BH??? I just ignore all and assume it to be normal tbh.

Rumours are you feeling any better?

Finally, another stupid question alert: I have never used fabric softener or fabric conditioner or whatever it is called. I got a free pack of persil non-bio and the persil comfort. Do they both go in the dispenser at the same time? or am I supposed to use the comfort in the rinse cycle? or is the comfort just like a detergent to be used on its own? Confused

WelshLadyCDF · 18/06/2012 19:15

geek the conditioner usually goes in the smaller of the three compartments in the washing machine drawer, prob on the right hand side.

Have been busy Confused sticking pink butterfly stickers on a plain white mirror for the nursery, tomorrow am heading up to a great 'preloved' baby things shop in the welsh valleys to look for a sling. Also tried out last night at a friends a nursing rocking chair it was amazing so I might eBay one of those.

quickchat · 18/06/2012 19:46

Rumours so sorry to hear your sad news. Also picture, 18 months is still fairly recent in terms of grieving. A sad time to loose a mum/partners mum when your expecting too.

I have only read page 14 and the last page. I cannot keep up with this speed.

pintofmilk Im exactly the same as you. I had no BH with #1, a few with #2 and with this one Im getting them regularly. Maybe this means they will just fly out in under an hour Grin!

I went through all of the old baby clothes at the weekend. I had no idea I had kept so much. Sorted it into Girl & Boy and ages 0-3, 3-6 etc. 9 bags later I realised, yep, this baby will not need clothes until it is at least two.

With my first I bought the contents of Mama's & Papa's. Most expensive of everything. Bugaboo pram and every gadget known to man that the baby magazine told me I would need (and clearly didn't).

With my second I refused to do the same but at around 30 weeks felt guilty and went up to Mama's & Papa's and got nursery furniture - much cheaper stuff, bedding and a few accessories but nothing to the expense or extent as the first.

This time I am truly wise and not budging. Im getting a new mattress for the moses basket, i've hunted out a changing mat, breast pump, baby sling, steriliser (currently missing), monitor and will buy nappies, cotton wool and nappy sacks. Job done.

Im not sure what to do on the pram front as I did buy a Phil & Ted with #2, hated it and sold it within 2 months.

There is exactly the same age gap again, 2.5 yrs. This time I have my 5 yr old to drop off and pick up at school and school is up a very very long steep hill, too much for a LO to hurry up every morning. Buggy boards are rubbish too. You just want to rip it off and throw it in the nearest bush. You stand one side, then the other and trip on it a million times.

Any suggestions appreciated.

I seen the MW today. Im 29.5 weeks and measuring 31 Shock. Have never measured over before, not sure how that is >slides biscuits to one side.

Im going for my nightly bath, the only time I feel comfy now. x

Whiteangel · 18/06/2012 20:01

I measured big at 28 weeks, then back to normal at 31.Think it depends how the baby is lying and how the midwife measures you. I had quite a few BH about the time we moved house 6 weeks ago. Really scared me one evening. I have slowed down a bit and not had any since! Tummy sometimes feels rather tight when I need the loo but not quite the same feeling. I've started packing my hospital bag thanks to your tips. Also started writing my birth preferences. Decided not to call it a birth plan as I know baby is in charge, not me! Going to watch the restaurant inspector with my feet up to help my cankles before bed xx

Loislane78 · 18/06/2012 21:52

Evening ladies :)

Seems 50 shades of grey is the thing to read. My friend just gave it to me and described it as soft porn which i was a bit taken aback by! Sounds like light entertainment anyway :)

geekete just ignore em. I weighed myself for first time on Sunday, 21 pounds gain and I don't care one bit. Was healthy 5'8 size 12 pre-pg and I could have been a bit more disciplined but frankly there are enough symptoms to deal with! I eat healthily but have treats on top and probably bigger portions than before. Told MW today and she was happy with my gain and all my bloods are perfect - so cake on I say!! ;)

tashaw28 · 18/06/2012 21:54

My description of a BH is it's like someone is behind you pulling your skin over your bump really tight, like elastic, it goes hard and tight for about 30 seconds then releases. And I'm still getting about 30 a day sooooo annoying!!!

Quick if I was u I'd buy the lightest double on the market, if you're going to be walking up that hill twice a day!!!

Anyone got SPD? I think i have, Sad, it's so painful in my pelvis, especially if I've done too much. We went to Camden on Sat with the kids for a walk, only 2 hours since that's all you can park for anyway, and on SUnday i was in so much pain couldn't move until lunchtime.

31+1

Loislane78 · 18/06/2012 21:58

PS - ordered some nursing bras off Figleaves at the weekend. Got big
(.)(.) and not everywhere does my size in nice styles. Anyway there is £10 off atm if anyone interested.

Also got a bouncer in the sale from Mamas & Papas and got another £5 off from gift card for signing up so only cost £15 and matches the Moses basket :)

tashaw28 · 18/06/2012 22:16

Oooo forgot to say DH and I are watching the most amazing program at the moment, called Curiosity-Miracle of Birth and was on Discovery the other night, but bound to be repeated this week, def record it, it is unbelievable CGI on conception to birth, giving us goosebumps watching it! And it's narrated by Courtny Cox.

signet2012 · 18/06/2012 23:51

Checking in again hope everyone is good. All good this end baby growing nicely although upside down but there is time for her to move apparently. Had a bizarre dream about paddy from emmer dale coming in with waders to "turn her". Hopefully this won't be needed!!! Have quite bad SPd so decided tomorrow I'm going on sick leave I'm just in too much pain and only getting couple hours a night sleep. Hoping they will be understanding. Only sick leave I'll have had in ten years so hoping they will take news ok.

Really need to get nursery done its a dumping ground at the moment and disgusting!!

geekette · 19/06/2012 04:49

Re: 50 shades of grey. Haven't read it. Read the synopsis and don't want to read it and i imagine "getting my pulse racing" would be the last thing on my mind in hospital!
That said, i might bookmark literotica on my phone, just in case....

ImissMiniPop · 19/06/2012 04:56

geekette your awake early /late?? :)

signet hope you feel better and they're ok with you taking sick.

I've had back and joint pain recently. I think months of sleeping on my back and propped up have moved my pelvis and spine positive (not to mention bump!). And now it aches when I try and lie flat car have only just started sleeping on my side again! :)

am currently up doing the 430am expressing session Confused

geekette · 19/06/2012 05:58

Oh dear poppy! how many do you do a day??
Sounds like you are healing though? Well done!

I awoke at 3.30... still haven't managed to count enough sheep.
I might just start working early instead...

woopsidaisy · 19/06/2012 07:30

Only 7 more days to work!
Yippee!!!

My bump is massive, and heavy. And people keep looking incredibly shocked when I tell them I still have 7 weeks to go?!

And a trip to England to see my lovely in-laws. we're gong to take DCs to see London Zoo and Aquarium. I will be 35 weeks. I'm insane.

Sound like we are all starting to think "Eek! Must get organised!" These bubs are going to start arriving soon.

And we have to get them out!Shock

Reminder!! Must buy Vitamin E oil for PM.....

hamncheese · 19/06/2012 08:02

Ugh I'm with you on that ishop I hate how they come round and are like OH MY GOD I LOVE IT I WANT IT I'M PUTTING MY DRESSING TABLE RIGHT HERE!!! And then the feedback is they are looking elsewhere? WTF??!

You know those things that sit across your bath to hold like soap and stuff? The metal rack thingmys? Where do you go to buy one of them? I really want one. Fed up reaching down the side of the bath for book/towel to dry hands/drink etc as having a lot of baths at the min.

Also I think I'm losing myself as I now don't mind, no wait, actually LOOK FORWARD, to watching the euro football with DH each evening. There is something wrong with me :(

ImissMiniPop · 19/06/2012 08:08

Geekette I mirror miniPop's feeding, so it's every three hours which is 8 times a day! 01:30, 04:30, 07:30, 10:30, 13:30, 16:30, 19:30, 22:30 Confused

It's tiring, but then I read some of the posts on the breastfeeding forum and at least expressing is fairly controlled (unlike a new baby!)

ham maybe try Argos?

ishopthereforeiam · 19/06/2012 10:03

ham i bought my bath metal tray rack on ebay a few years ago, less than a tenner and delivered v qiuckly (from a business seller)...

quick what didn;t you like about the P&T? Have bought the explorer as dd will be 19mo and the newborn, wondering if it's a mistake?!... I did look at others as I don't like the look of the P&T but it seemed to be one of the most compact so will fit in our small boot.

Still not getting much sleep, had a good run of 3 days and back to waking up lots. Think it was made worse by dd's reaction to nuts this weekend as still worried about it and not sure PiL get the seriousness of it as even after I have explained to them (more than once) they say don't worry she will build up a resistance to it which only happens in 10% of cases Sad. Also now worrying that dstobe will have eczma and allergy as dd does (probably quite irrational of me but you know how it is!?)

Got a 32 week scan tonight... is it wrong to say I'm not looking forward to it as it's just a hassle to get to the hospital etc and dh can't come as he's watching dd and the last scan (20 weeks) was good as we found out was a ds but otherwise q boring when they do all the measurements Hmm

Have a good day all, am going to waddle to the post office!

sc0ttishlass · 19/06/2012 10:20

hi all - struggling to keep awake today - work friends around till after midnight and seemed to be awake every hour - i am cursing myself for saying i wasnt finding sleep a problem ;)

woopsi - same on the massive bump - I am finding myself really embarrased any time someone asks how long i have to go, as so many have commented on size or asked about twins - so i find myself saying 'its not twins before you ask' to anyone that comes near me... i should get a grip!

ham - try ikea for that bath thing - or even John lewis has some value range bathroom products may find it there if you are in town.

have my scan tomorrow morning to find out if plancent has moved which will determine type of birth - cant wait for it to just hopefully know one way or other.

on the rubbish news front, i noticed a couple of stretch marks today :( i have been really good with the creams and oil on my bump - the marks were quite low down - hey ho - guess nothing i can do - thought i was going to get through without them though!!

so funny so many of us are going to read the shades of grey book - ive definately heard mixed reviews but will give it a go for a laugh!

last thing! has everyone received a letter from their hospital re ante natal classes - i havent (although i did call a while back when i found out i only get 2) - i dont have much faith given i didnt receive a letter re my blood tests way back and had to call them up for them... slightly disappointing to keep having to chase!

anyway have a great day ladies - on the home stretch now! :)

31+1

x

ooh, ps - has anyone been to see 'what to expect'??

ishopthereforeiam · 19/06/2012 10:25

scottish sorry to hear you're also in the no sleep club. On stretch marks, that sucks but the good news (ish!) is that Bio Oil is currently 50% off on Amazon Grin.

38 days til birth Woo hoo!!! Sure I won't be quite so ecstatic on the day, just looking forward to not being pg anymore.
