Im so sorry I feel like I have done nothing but moan here the last few days but DPs mum has just passed away. I don't know what to do, feel so sick. My poor poor DP and his family Sad We spent a good part of the day at the hospice but I'm not with him now I'm so worried for him.

woopsidaisy · 14/06/2012 01:38

Oh therumoursaretrue I'm so sorry.
Will be thinking of you and your DP.

ishopthereforeiam · 14/06/2012 02:49

rumours condolences. Hope she is at peace and that your dp is doing as well as can be. I know it's really tough but try not to get too stressed.

Have also had stabbing / discomfort pains down below, I think it's called lightening and is all body preparing for birth...

Another sleepless night here... I lie on bed for ages and just can't get to sleep til 4/5 am. Almost only six weeks to go I think, thanks God!

Rumours, I hope you and DP are ok. How really sad for both of you. You mentioned she was in a hospice, so I assume it was expected in some way. Hopefully you will be able spend some time together today comforting each other.

If it helps, my grandpa died when my mum was pregnant with me. I have always felt that even though I didn't get to meet him, he knew I was on my way and we have some connection.

ffscatmove · 14/06/2012 07:13

My condolences rumours, thinking of you & your DP

Loislane78 · 14/06/2012 07:33

Sorry to hear that rumours :(

What do BH feel like for you? I don't seem to get them sat down or regular pottering during the day. When I walk (further) though, my bump goes hard and feels like I sort of have a stitch. Is that BH do you think? I do walk too quickly as well though.

Hope you all had a good/some sleep :). Quite sunny here today and feeling less stressed about house things as DP agreed to get the decorators in and they'll be done by tomorrow.

I'm with you all on the maternity shopping; it's rubbish here in Cambridge too and I've had to get most things online. Given how many of us there must be around at any one time, you'd think there would be much more choice.

Well have a good day ladies :)

hamncheese · 14/06/2012 07:45

Sorry to hear rumors take care of yourself and your DH Thanks

Not just me on the stabby pains then phew... interesting if it is to do with prep for labour and quite exciting. I think baby moved a bit yesterday from head to side to more down which may explain. I totally feel like I'm ready now even though only 32 weeks... still 5 til term... really hope it isn't late!

fairtradelu · 14/06/2012 08:18

I went to bed with the terrible period-like pains, suffered for an hour before finally falling asleep. Unfortunately in that hour I looked up what it might be and saw it can be a sign of pre-labour along with loose ligaments in groin area (which I've had for the last week or so) and so completely panicked myself that baby was going to come 10.5 weeks early. Decided if I still had pain when I woke up i would phone triage unit. Thankfully I woke up to a heavy kick in the ribs and no pain/aching. So baby seems to be fine. Am hoping pain was a one-off caused by overstretching and baby changing position.

Anyway, in light of rumours news I think the message for today is to feel super lucky that we are blessed enough to be healthy and bringing our own little ones into the world. Pregnancy is certainly uncomfortable at times (to put it mildly!) but at the end of the day, we are truly lucky to be in this position :)

All the best to you and your family rumours

The3Bears · 14/06/2012 08:28

So sorry rumours my thoughts are with you all x

ham they're like the pains I had the other day, but I noticed yesterday that his bum is lower than before and he keeps moving which side he puts it on which is quite uncomfortable. His head must be lower though as his bum hasnt been this low down before and I could actually feel it last night, good news for my ribs though :)

mrsmiggins hope you have fun on your trip :)

Hope everyone has a lovely day

Lovemarmite · 14/06/2012 09:01

Hope you're all doing okay rumours, thoughts are with you and your DP Thanks.

Laughed at your post quick, I am 5'3 and given up on clothes, but have just bought a very comfy pair of maternity leggings from Boden as they're doing 25% off. Wearing religiously now with a big top, tunic etc.

Off to see mw shortly and then later changing the bugaboo cameleon for a bee... still undecided which one is best. Bee is lighter but not sure if the cameleon will do her for longer? Hmm Hmm

panpipe · 14/06/2012 09:32

Oh rumours my condolences to you and DP.

PictureThis · 14/06/2012 10:01

Rumours my thoughts are with you and your DP today. My mum died 18 months ago and if like me it will all seem a bit unreal to him immediately. I found giving myself permission to have a cry with total abandonment helped ease the build up of pressure in my chest that grief brings with it. It still comes in waves just not as often and rarely with such intensity and in my experience losing my mum is something I have learned to live with rather than get over. Your DP needs to be kind to himself, hold his hand and you'll get through this awful time together. Muc

PictureThis · 14/06/2012 10:02

Meant to add much love.

quickchat · 14/06/2012 11:27

Is this pain like suddenly your baby will fall out? Or at least your cervix!!

I have discovered a little trick. When you walk, hold your pelvic floor at the front in (like your desperately trying not to pee) and you won't get it anymore. I was ready to give up my walks at night until I discovered this.

Your welcome Wink!

ishopthereforeiam · 14/06/2012 13:40

Sorry to hear that too picture must still be such a happy but sad time simultaneously.

2 hours sleep last night, joy. Trekked to Selfridges for the sale which looked like a jumble sale (!) nothing left in my size that I liked even though I got there at 11am on the first day...Awful journey there. Just pleased to be home. Going to put feet up and try and zzzz

quick i get two types of pains... one is stabbing in the vjj type thing which is the cervix thinning / lightening I think and one is like I have pulled a muscle on the side of the bottom of bump when I walk too fast (kind of like a ligamenty stretching type pain).

Vinolover · 14/06/2012 14:00

I am so sorry Rumours :( My sympathies go to you and your DH.

I get that cervix pain too! Obviously just another 'one of those things'.

Hope you're managing to get a rest Ishop.

This thrush is driving me insane now! I thought it had gone but instantly after using johnsons soap yesterday it's at it worst! The cream is now well and truly being slapped on! Im really not having much luck with my bits in this pregnancy.

ishopthereforeiam · 14/06/2012 14:05

Oh no vino haven't had thrush for a while but recall it being unbearable, have you tried a pessary? They may use different meds when pg tho? x Just going off to bed now...

OP posts:
woopsidaisy · 14/06/2012 14:20

Vino, Ds1 had very bad exzcema as a baby. I had been slathering on Johnsons to help his poor skin until we saw Consultant. Both Consultant and Midwife said never to use Johnsons. Really aggravates sore skin, so maybe don't use any more?
I had rampant thrush when taking the pill straight-Femodene. So it must be something hormonal. What did the GP say?

frillylemons · 14/06/2012 14:30

Hi All

I promise to catch up with other posts soon, but need a bit of reassurance Confused.

My MW came to see me last week for my 28 week appointment and took some blood to get checked for iron levels. I got a letter today from my GP Surgery, asking me to call them to book an appointment with my Dr to discuss the results. I called them but was told that as it was my MW who took the blood, I would need to call her. Called her but her mobile was turned off.

If the results were something to worry about they would call me directly, right? I?m just slightly freaked out at the need to discuss my blood results. I know the baby is ok (I guess) because he/she is still wriggling away, but I can?t help but worry.

Sorry for the selfish post Blush!

Oh, I saw this changing bag that I love and DH said I can have it!! Huzzah! Grin I?m getting the ?wave dot? pattern. Very excited!

Also (more boring info that I?m excited about), my Dsis is 38 weeks pregnant with baby number 1 (I?m 29 weeks with number one!) and tonight, me her and both out DHs are having a mini maternity photo shoot! I will post some photos on FB when our friend has edited them.

frillylemons · 14/06/2012 14:34

Oh Rumours, I'm so so sorry to hear about DP's mum.

Re pains et aches...I think we are all the same!! It must be the stage we are at. I spoke to Dsis last night and she said that she gets it nd it is to do with the body preparing for baby to come out and stuff still being stretched etc. It is worse when you over do it though. I get stitches in my bump if I walk to much/fast after eating!

Vinolover · 14/06/2012 14:42

Try not to worry Frilly. Your iron levels are probably a little low and you need iron supps. This is the most common occurence at this stage of pregnancy. If your surgery actually sent you a letter asking you to call them then why on earth have they told you to call the MW? How strange.
I had to ask my Dr at my 31wk appt about my results and it took him a while to find them (he wasn't going to check) and then he said "oh, you're anemic, you need some iron". Well thanks for that lol.
Have a fab time at your photo shoot! What a great idea :)

Whoopsi I think it's safe to say that Johnsons products will not be going anywhere near there ever again! It was an instant reaction. Its really interesting you say about it aggrevating the skin, I honestly thought it would be on eof the best things to use.

This is my first thrush experience Ishop and the dr gave me just the cream but having spoken to a friend of mine, who gets thrush regulary, told me they don't like to give pregnant women the pessary even though they are completely safe! She has a spare one which she is giving me later (thank god) so I will give that a go. Tmi here, but DH and I dtd the other night, could he now get infected? He hasn't complained of any discomfort Wink.

PictureThis · 14/06/2012 14:48

He could, just slap a load of cream on him or he could take the over the counter oral tablet.

Lovemarmite · 14/06/2012 15:02

frilly my blood results were given to me by a mw and then I had multiple calls with the doctor surgery for a prescription for iron supps. If there was a problem, then surely they would call to let you know, and a letter is very odd. Can you call your doctor if you can't get through to the mw if it's playing on your mind?

vino my aunty is a health visitor and swears against all johnsons products for a LO and so maybe our skin is very sensitive atm. With DH, I wonder if it's because there is more blood around the whole area now and harder to flush things out? sorry if TMI!

Saw mw this morning, it took my 35 minutes to walk there (normally takes 15!) and I was told the faintness is to do with low blood pressure rather than my iron levels as they're actually okay. She said 'lovely' as she took the reading of 90/48 and commented that I must be faint these days and to sit down more, hmm, I am constantly sitting these days! Also LO measured 33 cms at 31+5, and so big baby?! Shock or just lying stretched out?! She said that we'll carry on growing until 36 weeks and so another 3 cms to go I guess? Gulp.
Not sure if anyone else is finding this but I was very uncomfortable over the last few weeks (29 / 30 / 31 weeks) and now feel as though the stretch has subsided. There were pains lower down that felt like I was stretching more but the last few days have eased a little and so just hoping the next stretch will be less painful as I know it might ease again Hmm
Not yet had any BH but I had a terrible pain at the front low down a few days ago and put it down to wind, still not sure what it was but it was really painful and I had to lie down!

panpipe · 14/06/2012 15:03

Not sure what to suggest frilly but just hope that your GP/MW etc know what they're doing more than when I had to follow up on glucose levels at 28w. Ended up speaking to the hospital three times and going in twice for a GTT that I didn't actually need...

Nice bag too! I currently like this one but it's eye-wateringly £££!

I've also started getting the pains in the last few days; right down in the cervix, often accomapnied by a sharp jab in the bladder that has had me dashing to the loo a few times! This pregnancy lark is so glamorous.

I can't remember from part 4 who the other veggie ladies were enjoying the Veggie Percies from M&S - but I've just discovered veggie Colin the Caterpillars too which are cute gelatine-free butterflies :)

panpipe · 14/06/2012 15:07

Just spotted your post while I was typing marmite. Join the low blood pressure club! Mine's been 80/50 for the last few appts (couldn't do it at 31w as the thingy was broken) and my MW's advice is also to sit down and try not to fall over. Helpful stuff!
