Hi!

Thought I would start this thread as I found out I was pregnant on Saturday and a few of you were saying you had also found out this weekend!

Do come and share!

Oh god so about eight more weeks! Confused

Want2bSupermum · 21/06/2012 03:30

DH thinks I have gone loopy. I told him that I was worried because I didn't have MS. He said I was sleeping for Denmark, UK, Canada and the US so I shouldn't be worried.

Had my interview today and told them the commute was too long. It is 30 miles each way and with traffic I will be lucky if it only takes me an hour. When doing a 12 hour day it will be too much for me.

Leftwingharpie · 21/06/2012 07:03

A 12 hour day? Wow you must be used to feeling tired! I hope my days of working 12 hour days are long behind me. That would be a really long commute, I don't blame you for thinking it was too far.

WhiteAnkleSocks · 21/06/2012 07:37

LeftWing - actually I think starting to eat meat now would be bad for you, because your body's not used to it. Just up our intake of dairy, eggs, pulses and nuts and seeds. Tell your DH that vegetarians have been having healthy babies for centuries!

I Dont feel as though I can wait another 8 weeks either, I think it just doesn't feel real at the moment, and I sort of won't let it in case something bad happens :(

Leftwingharpie · 21/06/2012 08:38

I know. I'd find it really unpleasant and that's the last thing I want. I eat a really good varied diet. I think DH is worried that if I miscarry, people (MIL) will say it was because I wasn't eating red meat. I'm a bit worried about that myself.

WhiteAnkleSocks · 21/06/2012 14:10

Ooh stuff like that makes me so cross. Lack of red meat is NOT going to be a contributing factor to MC. But hopefully this won't be an issue anyway, sorry that you've got the additional worry of that on top of everything else.

Leftwingharpie · 21/06/2012 14:19

It's certainly a reason not to tell people (MIL) until the end of the first trimester.

Want2bSupermum · 21/06/2012 15:25

Leftwing I work in audit so a regular day is 8 hours but for 4 months of the year we work 12 hr days 6 days a week. It is very tiring which is why I don't want to drive 2hrs a day. Had I known the drive was so long I would never have put my name forward for the job. It was driving there that I realised it just wasn't going to work.

I think too much is put into diet. Not eating red meat is probably better for your constitution IYKWIM. Anyway it isn't any of her business. I had to stand my ground last time as the MIL kept telling DH that I must eat certain foods and wanted to be in the delivery room when DD was born. DH did a great job of containing her. Luckily once we had DD things really turned around for the better. I have a much better relationship with her.

somethingwittynot · 21/06/2012 17:56

think ill just be having DP in the delivary room this time not sure

Leftwingharpie · 21/06/2012 18:04

Oh bloody hell I've just been informed that MIL already knows as DH told her on Monday! He's been telling me all week that he hasn't told anyone! Angry

Goldstar2013 · 21/06/2012 20:42

Hi and congratulations to all :) I?m about 7 weeks now with my 1st, so so happy but I know it?s only early days. Feeling really tired so far and have lost my appetite....which worries me as I feel like I won?t be getting enough food/vitamins etc.
We booked a holiday before we knew and are going next week, hoping I feel a bit better and everything will be OK.
Got my fist MW appointment on the 4th...really nervous for some reason! Does anyone know what to expect at the 1st app?
It?s really nice to find somewhere to share as we haven?t told anyone yet.

somethingwittynot · 22/06/2012 08:05

hi im pg with DC2 at your first appt it will be about an hour long there will be tons of paperwork and she will ask about family history she will do your paperwork for you scan and book you at the hospital and take some bloods. you will probly come away with a ton of leaflets to!

WhiteAnkleSocks · 22/06/2012 08:32

Leftwing, I told my mum this week and DH was Angry at me! I totally understand that he wants to keep it secret, but I had an aeful time last pg and really needed her advice/reassurance. Maybe it's different because I'm the one carryig the baby and suffering with the hormones (but maybe it's not and I'm just as bad as your DH).

Welcome Goldstar and congrats on your pg! Don't worry, I'm sure your holiday will be lovely. It's probably come at a good time because iirc, I found work at around 8-10 weeks absolutely unbearable because I was so exhausted. Being on holiday ad able to nap whenever is proba very very good thing :)

Also, I think as long as you're raking a good multi vitamin you should be alright. Remember, the baby will always take what it needs from you, which was a massive comfort to me in my last pg when I couldn't eat.

Leftwingharpie · 22/06/2012 08:38

Whiteanklesocks I had actually agreed he could tell her beforehand just puzzled as to why he then did so, but said he hadn't! Perhaps he got muddled up and couldn't 100% be sure that's what I'd said!

Leftwingharpie · 22/06/2012 08:39

People knowing but me not knowing they know is not ideal!

Goldstar2013 · 22/06/2012 16:47

Thanks WhiteAnkleSocks, thats good to know :)

bloomingmarvellous · 22/06/2012 17:34

I went for an early scan and it would seem that i have my dates wrong after all! so probably due now around the 4th feb making me approx 7 weeks. I guess it makes sence with how sick Ive been feeling. It was reassureing to see the heart beat

WhiteAnkleSocks · 22/06/2012 17:40

Blooming that is brill! Means that hopefully the sickness will be over a bit sooner than you'd thought, too?

bloomingmarvellous · 22/06/2012 17:42

For my family`s sake I hope so!

somethingwittynot · 22/06/2012 18:52

lucky you i want my early scan!

ShatterResistant · 29/06/2012 14:01

Hi everyone - how are you all doing? I'm 6 weeks today, cue the morning sickness. Feeling dreadful for the first time! So much so that I'm "working from home" this afternoon, unless anything happens (I'm a journalist.) Anyone got any tips for MAKING IT GO AWAY? I'm currently having some herbal tea, and just don't feel like eating, which is VERY unusual for me... Good thoughts to all.

ShatterResistant · 29/06/2012 14:02

P.S. where have you all gone? It seems like it's a whole week since anyone posted anything? Or is there something wrong with my computer? Are you all ok out there? x

CountryMama · 30/06/2012 20:02

It is quiet around here... maybe we're all too busy feeling rotten! (i feel so awful today). Hope everyone's ok.

CountryMama · 30/06/2012 20:06
