Hi!

Thought I would start this thread as I found out I was pregnant on Saturday and a few of you were saying you had also found out this weekend!

Do come and share!

Thanks for the welcome white

Now I'm starting to consider what things I have to worry about. I saw a couple of other posters mention exercise and I need to know more about this and calorie intake too. I've been trying to loose weight (bmi currently about 40 I think) and I'm worried about what the mw and gp will have to say about that. Should I be eating 2000 calories a day? My Fitness Pal tells me that would still allow me to lose 1lb per week, so might be able to maintain my weight during pregnancy. And my current gym routine has been pushing myself so might give up on cross trainer and rowing and stick with the hybrid bike, which I find a lot more gentle.

My second worry is that I'm a SAHM. With just DH working we can manage financially until September, but then we will struggle. I have been looking for a job, with a few interviews recently which I'm hopeful about but I'm not sure if I started a new job now, when would be the best time to tell them and what the situation will be with maternity pay or allowance.

Thanks for listening to my wobbles and appreciate any advice or opinions.

LookAtHerGo · 18/06/2012 12:42

In feeling wonky again. Hmm. Just about to meet someone I work with (not back at work yet though) so I'm hoping I can pull off the ear infection excuse.

Leftwingharpie · 18/06/2012 12:50

Lois if you are pg when you start work, you will not be eligible for statutory maternity pay, but you would get maternity allowance. There's not that much difference unless you're a very high earner.

LoisLame · 18/06/2012 13:18

Thanks left - don't want to feel like I'm sponging off benefits or anything. I really want to get back to working. Had to leave my job end of march due to childcare and DH wanting to change job.

LookAtHerGo Not sure an ear infection can explain and ear to ear grin!

Haywire · 18/06/2012 13:51

hello can I join too, edd 2nd feb had a MC in March so pretty freaked out. Glad I got PG again so soon but just hoping that this one sticks. it went wrong at 8 weeks last time so if I can get through this week might feel a bit more confident.

main symptoms at the moment bone-crushing tiredness and feeling freezing cold. but don't have my usual aversion to food smells or much nausea yet.

got my scan date in post today 25th July that seems like a very looong time to wait.

somethingwittynot · 18/06/2012 14:38

right my first responses and superdrug tests where darker a day after eachother by my internet cheapys only seem to be getting slightly darker but not by much is that ok? my first response tests are a very obvious BFP and there a brand so i trust them more.

Haywire · 18/06/2012 15:17

hey something a line is a line as they say..... it's so hard not to worry I know just wish there was a way of checking whats actually going on in there.

LookAtHerGo · 18/06/2012 15:44

Well I didn't tell my work friend. I had my LO with me, who is über cute, so any smiles etc can be gotten away with. Although I did feel a bit bad and wanted to say, but I'm going to leave it a week or two yet. Maybe till after the scan. Who knows. Depends when I speak to her next.

ShatterResistant · 18/06/2012 16:21

Haywire and somethingwitty It's SO hard not to worry, isn't it? I'm shocked by how quickly that feeling of jubilation is replaced by a gnawing worrying that something will go wrong. Hey ho, life goes on, I suppose... How is everyone feeling today apart from being consumed with fear?!

somethingwittynot · 18/06/2012 16:36

well i had a chemical last month so im getting a digital on pay day! doing good today boobs are more sore and feel more sick think im 4+6 and tired so so tired!

Leftwingharpie · 18/06/2012 16:51

Yes I am tired today. Have left work early - but I did accidentally go in an hour early, so it's only fair! Grin

Going to order DH into the kitchen - I need feeding!

somethingwittynot · 18/06/2012 17:00

i need feeding to but dp can only make the basics!! so i do the cooking when all i want to do is nap

LookAtHerGo · 18/06/2012 17:07

I'm just finding it hard to believe, I think it's because last time I was chucking up at this point and other than feeling wonky I feel fairly normal. I am as others are, consumed by the fear but I have a gorgeous 9 month old who is keeping me on my toes and letting me get no rest what so ever! Grin it's a good job I don't want to have a nap - oh I do, never mind.

I like the rest of you hate the bit waiting for the dating scan.

Did another test this morning, the positive line was a strong line before the strip has even soaked up to the control line! Very very strong once the control line appeared.

I tested loads last time, seems I'm the same this time. Grin

somethingwittynot · 18/06/2012 19:20

i cant believe it either! getting a digi on friday maybe if i see it on words i will see it! doctors tomorrow!!

Want2bSupermum · 18/06/2012 19:56

I was so tired this morning that I went back to bed and slept for another 2.5 hours. That is so not me. I normally sleep 5-7 hours a night and I am now sleeping 8-10 plus the extra. The sleeping is far better than the MS I had last time.

We told our close friends this weekend. We were at a beer garden and I didn't want to be making up stupid excuses.

Want2bSupermum · 18/06/2012 20:35

lois Congrats and don't worry! I was laid off on April 30th and have a job interview on Wednesday. If they offer me the job I will tell them. If not, then onto the next interview. I am also looking at setting up my own business here to tide me through the next 2 years. I like working and I am good at what I do. I was laid off because of having DD not because of my ability.

With regards to weight I am being careful about what goes into my mouth. I am with weight watchers and find it easier than going freestyle. The obn is fine with me doing ww and told me I am not to have sweeteners as her opinion is that not enough research has been conducted to ensure their safety.

Leftwingharpie · 18/06/2012 20:47

Something I want a digi test too! Are quite a few of us having jubilee bank holiday babies on this thread?! Smile

Lookathergo I'm relying on old hands like you to keep me from panicking!

QueenOfTheDrama · 18/06/2012 20:59

leftwing I got my BFP about 10days ago, still hasn't sunk in though! Oh and how funny that you went into work an hour early - baby brain already?! Grin

I'm knackered too, literally can't keep my eyes open and have to have a nap after work every day.

Welcome & congrats to the newbies! Smile

somethingwittynot · 18/06/2012 21:28

so my SIL is about 17 weeks pregnant and is in bed by half 6. shes well into her second trimester now shes really milking this pregnancy to the max! i know its her first and that but she should try having another DC to look after to! Grin

bopfactory · 18/06/2012 21:31

Another one consumed by fear here. Sad Had a bit of lower back pain today and have convinced myself that something's going wrong (felt a bit like period-y type backache). Also feel like the slight nausea I've been experiencing on and off has tailed off a bit... though now I'm worrying and feel a bit sick because of that, so I don't know! I hate these early weeks...

LoisLame · 18/06/2012 22:05

Thanks for the advice Want2b never thought about sweetners and I drink a lot of sugar free squash but never thought to question what's in them.

Leftwing Now that you mention it, conception must have been between 3rd and 5th June. Might have to consider Jubilee as a middle name (not!)

Queen Enjoy your naps. I miss my first pregnancy naps. Could be worse though. At least I can grab a quick hour while my toddler naps in the afternoon.

something So annoying when people milk it - Gives the rest of the preggos a bad name!

bopfactory I know it's hard and everyone says it, but try to relax. Could you get a batch of eBay cheapy test just for your own reassurance?

I'm off to bed finally Grin to see what crazy dreams tonight holds for me. Definitely the best pregnancy IMO. Wishing everyone a pleasant night without too many toilet trips!

QueenOfTheDrama · 18/06/2012 22:37

lois great idea for bop re cheapie tests. I've still got loads of ebay tests left over so do one to reassure myself whenever I'm having a wobble or wondering if I imagined it all Grin It definitely helps!

LoisLame · 19/06/2012 07:28

Might get some myself then! Even though my last pregnancy was fine I still worry because my sister had a mmc a few years back. I guess that's why we all worry, because everyone knows someone who's had the worst happen, if they've not had it happen themselves.

I'll be doing a pound shop plastic test this morning - hopefully I can get a decent pink line to take a photo for DHs birthday card for tomorrow. Found a great card to put it in too. It says "Daddy, I've got something to show you" on the front and then folds open, says "Keep going" inside then you unfold it again and says "It's something really good!" and unfold again...Eventually opens up to 6 times the size so it will be great for hiding the photo in. Hard to explain but it'll be so perfect!

Now to decide if I should give it to him in the morning before he goes to work or wait til he gets home.

How is everyone feeling this morning?

bloomingmarvellous · 19/06/2012 07:47

Good morning all! I cant even open the fridge these days without retching, this will be my fourth and i thought i new what morning sickness was all about except i use to suffer in the evening and by crawling in to bed at about 8:30 and mumsnetting was able to cope. but this time its 24/7 and i have already lost 6 pounds. Im just trying not to starve DH and my three little ones!

LoisLame · 19/06/2012 07:59

blooming Have you tried any of the old wives remedies to help? Lots of people say ginger is good. I liked pretzels and cream crackers. Always made me feel better to keep nibbling all day.

Done the cheapy test this morning and test line isn't really dark enough for a good picture so might pop out and get some more. Can't really afford a digi, but are the asda own brand ones good? Any other recommendations for less than a fiver?
