Thought I'd get the ball rolling as I know there have been some BFPs in the last few days on here.....

Just got a confirmatory BFP on a clear blue. This will be DC2, DC1 will be two in two weeks!

So grab a seat, buckle up and enjoy the vino soft drinks on offer.

Ps is it really bad that I am craving a jug of Pimm's?!

Hello everyone!
Im new to this site and new to pregnancy too!!
I am about 7 weeks pregnant with my first child. I found out the week of my wedding which was the 3rd of June and i have been on my honeymoon since then! Felt fine until Saturday when i have felt awful ever since, every time i eat i feel sick, is this normal?
We are coming home tomorrow so back to the real world which im not looking forward to but at least i can get a midwife appointment then!
How long do these usually take as i haven't applied for one with being away?
Thanks so so much
Vanessa

SlightlyBabyCrazed · 18/06/2012 15:11

Everything, they will initially give you an edd based on first day of lmp, but may change it at first scan as they do measurements etc then, it should only be a few days out, depends really on when you ovulated more than anything, they add 2 weeks on to actual conception and few of us actually know the date that happened! Smile

somethingwittynot · 18/06/2012 15:12

i to feel sick when i eat! or when i dont!!

SlightlyBabyCrazed · 18/06/2012 15:17

Went shopping today, ended up with mothercare bras, sales assistant looked at my (fat bloated belly) pregnancy bump and asked when we were due, she seemed a little embarrassed when I said I was just 6 weeks. Am so bloated today I look six months or more! Managed to find 2 pairs of trousers in river island. Am resigning myself to fact I'm gonna be a blimp and may as well just go for comfort, really wanted to find something for work to hide the flab - ESP as there's a girl 2 weeks ahead of me and ten years younger, feeling like a big old hefferSad, but DH still loves me!

somethingwittynot · 18/06/2012 16:21

we wnt shoping today and got my SIL whos going to be FTM loads of pratical baby essential someone did this for me and i used everything they gave me! and everyone is going to give clothes so i like to be different Grin

QueenOfTheDrama · 18/06/2012 16:22

slightly I feel massive at the moment too - big hard bloated belly Sad My work trousers are so tight, might have to get new ones if I stay like this. Does anyone happen to know if the bloating eases or will I be like this now until I get my proper bump?

Welcome vanessa congratulations on getting married and getting pregnant! Grin My 1st midwife appointment is at 8 weeks so I think they will probably try to fit you in soonish. Could be different in your area though.

perfectshadeofgrey · 18/06/2012 16:39

vanessa - congrats!
the booking appointment should happen by 10 weeks. in some hospitals (like mine) you can self refer - you call them and book the appointment. with others you have to go through your gp which delays things. I would call your hospital first and ask them (provided you've chosen where you want to have your baby). that way you might be able to skip the unnecessary trip to the gp.
good luck.

Pinkie29 · 18/06/2012 16:54

I've seen my pram. Dp every so slightly unimpressed at the £1250 price tag... But it is described as 'the rolls Royce of orans' Hmm

Pinkie29 · 18/06/2012 16:55

*prams!!!

somethingwittynot · 18/06/2012 16:57

ooooo *pinkie#8 what pram? i have an obsession

Pinkie29 · 18/06/2012 17:10

It's a Silvercross Balmoral, absolutely stunning but hugely impractical and could buy a different pram nursery and other bits for that silly price tag Hmm

My mum had Silvercross with all of us I've always had a thing for them, dp wants one of the all in one travel systems

SlightlyBabyCrazed · 18/06/2012 17:31

I like the silver cross, but most liked the quinny buzz I had a little wobble of in mothercare today! Red is kind of unisex isn't it? Wink
They seem to have a sale on in there, but think I may look at secondhand.., depends how my saving goes by 30 weeks I guess! Smile

DinkyPenguin · 18/06/2012 18:02

Evening all!

Welcome Vanessa and congratulations!

I went for my GP appointment this morning and it was rather underwhelming although it does make it seem more real now I've discussed it with someone other than DH!

Had to leave my details for surgery midwife to call to arrange initial appointment. Apparently she will call me on Wednesday to arrange. Was given a pack of leaflets erc which I gave read through and am now mega excited.

Bit of an odd day when I got to work though! My department has known for a while that were going to be made redundant at the end of the year and DH and I worked out this pregnancy thing so I could scam max cash out of work in the process (sneaky I know). Anyway due to leave about 7 weeks before due date and today an ex colleague calls to offer me a job (no interview just straight job offer!) to cover someone's maternity straight after I'm due to leave current job! Clearly I can't take it as I'll be on maternity too shortly thereafter but not sure how to tell him that without telling him I'm pg! Can't tell him before we tell parents argh!

somethingwittynot · 18/06/2012 18:17

im getting this and adding a carry cot on

brimfullofasha · 18/06/2012 18:21

I'm glad I'm not the only one who is already fantasy pram shopping! Mind you, I need something to do as I am so tired and nauseous I'm on the sofa as soon as I walk in the door. I too feel sick when I eat and sick when I don't.

Have my second early scan on Wednesday which has come around quite quickly. Fingers crossed we see a heartbeat this time.

I'm off on a week's holiday with a big group of friends next week. I don't know how I am going to hide the sickness/ not drinking. Any tips? Actually I look so rough at the moment I think I'll just say I have a virus and don't feel like drinking. I'm hoping if people guess they'll be too polite to say!

eggandbean · 18/06/2012 18:27

LittleMiss & carries thanks for the comments on DH coming to the mw appointment, I'll make sure I ask him about family history before I go then brave it on my own :)

£1250 for a pram - argh - big sick face!!! (I'm not even going to look it up just in case I fall in love with it, haha)

Feel reeeeally sick today, bleurgh (more big sick faces) :(

Welshcyclist · 18/06/2012 18:49

Hi, this my first ever post here! Got a BFP yesterday after 4 years of trying, can't quite believe it yet. I'm 4 weeks so due 25th Feb ish, I'm pretty certain of my dates as I was taking Clomid and had scan just as I was about to ovulate. This will be DC3, just hoping everything will be fine.

BeanDunne · 18/06/2012 19:18

Hi all im going to very selfish and do a me me me post but im utterly furious... had a meeting at work today to discuss bully and manager informed me that we were having mediation at 4 today. so i was totally unprepared where as said bully was told on saturday about it.

so we were in the meeting and she had all these notes bullshit and basically said i was a total liar. that doesnt really annoy me as i know im not its the fact that being hormonal made me cry. not little tears but uncontrollable sobs so it looks like she got to me when it wasn't her it was bean making me cry. Arg im just sooo cross i could scream.

on the upside dp went to pick up our dirt cheap cot today and they threw in a travel cot a new born hammocky bath thing and a normal bath for free. AMAZING.

Sorry for the rant.

Welcome more newbies xxx

Splinters · 18/06/2012 19:20

Congratulations cyclist! If I'm right about my dates I'm due on 23rd Feb, so the calculator tells me. Here's to a smooth ride..

SlightlyBabyCrazed · 18/06/2012 19:42

Bean, I know how you feel, evil hormones, still at the very least you can look forward to your maternity leave!

Sonics · 18/06/2012 19:45

Lots to catch up on since I posted yesterday.

Hello and welcome and congrats to all the newbies :-)

You ladies are so organised looking and buying baby stuff, I've not even thought about all that yet!

My stomach is massive today as well. It was fine this morn, then I went to the loo at work and just thought "OMG I look so pregnant!" I just had my normal work stuff on and felt so self conscious. Someone tell me this will go away soon? Wasn't expecting for it to be noticeable before we could tell people.

I do know I'm going to be massive tho. DH was over 10lb when he was born and I was over 9 so I think this is going to be a monster bubs!

Sonics · 18/06/2012 19:46

Oh and bean that sounds awful. They should have given you the same amount of notice. There is an organisation called ACAS who provide free employment law type advice if you wanted to speak to someone about the process and how they have handled it n

BeanDunne · 18/06/2012 19:47

sonics im in the same boat someone asked my friend if i was pregnant today. my tummy is real rounded and my boobs are popping out.

BeanDunne · 18/06/2012 19:53

oh thanks sonics i might check that out. i h=just kept wanting to shout stop stressing me out im pregnant

morecoffeemorecoffee · 18/06/2012 20:41

Hi everyone and welcome and Congrats to all the newbies!

bean sound like you've had a tough day. How long until it should be resolved?

I have serious bloat at the moment. Absolute nightmare this morning -i couldn't do my jeans up! Tried another pair and couldn't do those up either Blush . Then when I had finally found something that fits (stretchy leggings!) I had to suffer the school run with the worst morning sickness I've had so far. It's a good 3mile round trip on foot. I was sure I was going to be sick in the street! I had to keep stopping and taking deep breaths. My dc kept asking what was wrong, but I had to just change the subject!
