Thought I'd get the ball rolling as I know there have been some BFPs in the last few days on here.....

Just got a confirmatory BFP on a clear blue. This will be DC2, DC1 will be two in two weeks!

So grab a seat, buckle up and enjoy the vino soft drinks on offer.

Ps is it really bad that I am craving a jug of Pimm's?!

egg and queen I can sympathise! I was a a wedding last Saturday and wore a dress I'd last worn just before I got married last year ( when I'd 10lbs!). I didn't know I was pg ( only found out on Sunday!) and felt so uncomfortable all day. I couldn't wait to get home so I could get out of it!

Will certainly be rethinking my outfit for the next wedding we have in 2 weeks time!

MrsM80 · 17/06/2012 11:41

The previous message was meant to say ' when I'd lost 10lbs' doh!

Pinkie29 · 17/06/2012 11:47

I thought I'd bring up the dread subject of stretch marks!

What's your plan ladies? Ive always moisturised with Palmers Cocoa Butter and am doing it twice a day now, my mum was very lucky and never got any but she's a bit of a bigger build than me, I've heard bio oil is good too?

QueenOfTheDrama · 17/06/2012 11:58

pinkie I'm just using my normal moisturiser (vaseline one) at the moment but I bought a large bottle of bio-oil yesterday from boots (cost 20 quid!! Shock) It says on the box to use it twice daily from the start of the second trimester but I might start using it slightly before then. Not sure if it is going to work but its worth a try I think.

mrsm80 if I wore a dress I'd probably need control pants (or magic knickers as I call them) underneath as I'm so bloated at the moment. Have you got something looser, maybe sort of floaty that you could wear for more comfort?

MrsM80 · 17/06/2012 11:59

pinkie I'm a bit worried about stretch marks and like you have been moisturising twice a day in the hope they won't appear. I'm also concerned about varicose veins as my mum had them really bad and they started in pregnancy. Not sure what I can do to prevent them though.

somethingwittynot · 17/06/2012 12:03

The Palmera body butter is way better than the lotion

MrsM80 · 17/06/2012 12:03

queen I do have a floaty dress that I'll probably wear for the one in a few weeks. Although its a wrap over dress and not sure my bobs will fit in it by then! May have to buy something new.

Well today my symptoms seem to be starting. Boobs are getting bigger and feeling a bit tender. Can't tell you how weirdly pleased I am about this as I finally feel like I'm pregnant. Yay!

somethingwittynot · 17/06/2012 12:04

Pregnancy is so glamourous spots greasy hair hairy bellies giant nipples piles stretch marks varicose veins the list is endless

QueenOfTheDrama · 17/06/2012 12:12

mrsm80 I know its quite nice when the symptoms start isn't it - feels like something is happening in there Smile I could do without the nausea though!

haha something I was moaning about a few of the things on your list to DH the other day and he looked at me all straight faced and said "i've never found you more attractive" Wanted to punch him haha Grin

Pinkie29 · 17/06/2012 12:27

something do you mean the hard stuff that comes in a little tub? I use that on my knees and elbows (price I pay for being a tom boy and forever falling out of trees and off bikes!)

MrsM80 my mum got varicose veins but only in her 3rd pregnancy I might mention it to my mw see if she had any tips!

BeanDunne · 17/06/2012 12:56

Got dp a fathers day card and he cried like a baby whilst saying im feeling a bit weepy today ha ha. he was so happy.

i didnt even think about moisturizing or anything...i may get on that i suppose.

So my boobs are that big that my work shirt is now stretching at the buttons. it was baggy on me last week.

morecoffeemorecoffee · 17/06/2012 13:06

I have used bio oil in the past. I still got stretch marks, but I think it helped to prevent them being really bad. I think most women get stretch marks, but some are more noticeable than others. You can't really notice mine any more. My sis had really bad stretch marks and her bump looked like a road map, but again they are hardly visible any more. Not had v.veins before, slightly worried that as this is my 3rd pregnancy and I'm getting older (32) that I may get them this time Shock is there any way to help prevent them? Please?!

SlightlyBabyCrazed · 17/06/2012 13:22

I believe that stretch marks are something you either get or don't, bit of a genetic thing but obviously the older you get the less natural stretch your skin has. I'm doomed as 36 and will be 37 next month! Think I'll get some bio oil tomorrow and start slathering it on at will Grin

Bazzle · 17/06/2012 13:30

Hello Hello!

Can i join? Got my BFP yesterday - bit of a late tester so i think i'm about 5 weeks Grin

Have not told DH yet, was very hard to keep it secret last night but so wanted to tell him on fathers day. He is doing the London to Brighton bike ride today so me and DS will give him the good news when he crosses the finish line - can't wait!

Copngratulations everyone here so far! x

SlightlyBabyCrazed · 17/06/2012 13:44

Hi Bazzle - welcome and congratulations!

QueenOfTheDrama · 17/06/2012 14:14

Congrats bazzle! that's a lovely idea about telling your DH at the finish line Smile

morecoffee great to hear that you think the bio oil helped with the stretch marks a bit. I've heard the same about a lot of it being down to luck and genetics, will discuss it with my mum later I think although she was always bound to get some as all her babies were big- my brother was over 9lb, then she had twins (one of which was me Smile) and we were 8lb 1oz & 7lb 7oz which is big for twins I believe! It's not looking good for me is it Grin

morecoffeemorecoffee · 17/06/2012 14:56

I have bought some bio oil this afternoon and started applying!!! Just spoke to my sis and she said she used olive oil (with a few drops of lavender to make it smell nice!) after her Ds was born to help her stretch marks heal. I've heard olive oil is good for preventing stretch marks too (and is cheaper than bio oil!) My mum didn't get any stretch marks and she had 3 pregnancies, one of which was twins. Hmmm, I guess it is luck of the draw.

morecoffeemorecoffee · 17/06/2012 14:59

queen that is good sizes for twins! Are there lots of twins in your family? We only have one set and I am not a twin but my sisters are.

perfectshadeofgrey · 17/06/2012 15:33

Re stretch marks. It's defo down to genetics. Some people will get them no matter what they do. And some won't even if they don't do much. Also, it's very important not to put on too much weight too quickly. That's when stretch marks appear. I used bio oil every day in my first pregnancy and didn't get any at all. Not sure what to contribute ir to :)
If you are going to use bio oil order it on amazon. It's almost half the price than in the shop. I usef to order 3 at a time as obe would last me a month :o

QueenOfTheDrama · 17/06/2012 16:12

morecoffee yes there's lots of twins on my mothers side, most recently my cousin had twins last year and her brother also had twins a few years back. I'm a twin myself- not sure if it's supposed to skip a generation?

perfect thanks for the tip re amazon and bio oil- will bear it in mind for when this bottle runs out Smile

carries · 17/06/2012 16:19

Congrats bazzle :)

I had no stretch marks in first pregnancy until 41 weeks. 2nd time got no more and I used nothing :) They do fade. I think it's skin type and how quickly you put on weight. I'm not so hopeful this time round :)

LittleMissSnowShine · 17/06/2012 16:43

Hello new ladies nd welcome to the good ship feb 2013 Grin god bless her and all who sail in her! And happy fathers day to all OHs and DHs - since my poor dh is marking gcses me and DS made him (ok and me!) A lovely cooked brekkie and then went out for a couple of hours to visit friends so he could get some work done. Spilled.the beans to a couple of friends this morning too Blush hee!

Re skinny jeans - maternity jeans will just fall off or roll down but invest in some highwaisted jeggings and enter a world of comfort! Bump bands dont really give u any support (tho u can buy ugly orthapaedic style bands if u get spd later on!) but they do help hide wobbly white bump skin from view.

And re strechmarks, yes, its genes! I used all the.lotions last time and was so.smug about not having any but 4 weeks beforr birth.they just erupted and I.was.like a purple and white zebra...but luckily they faded fairly quickly too phew!!

angrytree · 17/06/2012 17:10

Hello and congrats to all the newcomers!

I was convinced I'd get stretchmarks with DC1 because I have scars on my hips and boobs from puberty. I thought 'I just have that kind of skin'. But I didn't get a single one! ~insert smug face~ I used some delicious Burts Bees moisturiser. Don't know if that made a difference, but I loved the smell and it helped with the itching.

I just noticed today my skin has become really clear ~insert second smug face~ Long may it last! I'm sure I'll be paying for it later on though.

Pinkie29 · 17/06/2012 17:23

Genetics?! I should be fine then woohoo! Will still moisturise twice a day just incase tho!! My skins been really clear too! Just want my pregnancy 'glow' now!

orangewellies · 17/06/2012 17:24

Hello all. I didn't have any stretch marks with my last two pregs but think i'm going to get some bio oil this time just in case (thanks for the amazon tip perfect!) . i do have quite stretched skin though on my tummy like it has lost its elastic, which isn't v nice - don't know what i can do about it, guess its only going to get worse after another stretching!

Still haven't got many symptoms - the odd bit of nausea keeping me from worrying too much and a slight sore boob (just one!) last night. Hopefully i'll be regretting wishing them on me soon. My hair does seem to be falling out more than normal though - anyone else got this? is it a preg thing that i never noticed before?

I keep having to undo belt on my jeans too and change into trackies as soon as i can every evening, i'm sure people are going to start noticing my stomach bulging before i'm ready to tell them! Am only 5 weeks!
