Thought I'd get the ball rolling as I know there have been some BFPs in the last few days on here.....

Just got a confirmatory BFP on a clear blue. This will be DC2, DC1 will be two in two weeks!

So grab a seat, buckle up and enjoy the vino soft drinks on offer.

Ps is it really bad that I am craving a jug of Pimm's?!

OP posts:

I`ll probably try and just stick with the two! I don't like those 4D ones they are weird. Plus I know someone who set up a facebook page for the fetus using that as a photo and said things like Oooo lucky me mummy just ate some beef (etc etc)

Put me right off!

mrsfleur · 11/06/2012 18:06

Aww it's lovely there's lots of us now! Congrats to anyone who joined yesterday!
Drs appointment tomorrow (on my birthday!) so will be armed with list of questions he won't answer - from what others have said the docs seems more of a formality!
Meant to be flying in 2 1/2 weeks (I'll be 9 weeks then) and not sure whether to or not - what do you lovely ladies reckon?

Pinkie29 · 11/06/2012 18:21

Pickles that is my pet hate too!! I won't put scan pics up till my baby is safely in my arms! Also can't stand ppl that have fb profiles for their babies/foetus what's the point! With you on the 4D freak out!!

BabylannShallFall · 11/06/2012 18:36

Well I'm not ashamed to say I will be announcing my pregnancy on FB after the first scan, with the scan pic. I did it with DD and it was lovely, I got a lot of support from old friends and such and it was a lot easier than ringing everyone I know up and saying "Hi, I'm pregnant" and having to tell each person individually. We also have a lot of relatives who live at the other end of the country or even in different countries, so it was a nice way for them to stay updated with our pregnancy.

I'm not overly superstitious though and don't tend to like the "don't count your eggs til they're hatched" philosophy when it comes to pregnancy, I think it would stop me from enjoying it and being truly excited.

I agree it seems a bit weird to make a FB page for your unborn child though. I don't really tend to like FB pages which aren't by real people anyway (e.g. pets having their own profile).

And also not the biggest fan of the 4D scan and turned down the opportunity to have one with DD, BUT I have seen some brilliant ones which might make me reconsider this time.

My cousin uploaded a pic of his partner's 4D scan with his unborn baby girl, and I could see even then that she looked just like him, it was incredible. They aren't always splodgy and monstrous like some of the others I've seen.

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 11/06/2012 18:40

I'm not opposed to the scan pics babs but this was set up like a real person and updated its status about five times a day!

I did find that a bit freaky!

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 11/06/2012 18:41

Your fine to fly mrsf. I went to Malta at 12 weeks last time.

BabylannShallFall · 11/06/2012 18:45

I know, that is weird. Grin

PomBears · 11/06/2012 18:51

I had a 4d scan last time with DD at about 28 weeks, it was a really lovely experience and i love having the pics to look back at now. I also think it will be fab for her when she is older HOWEVER i do understand people thinking they are freaky, i would prob find other peoples freaky but somehow didn't when it was my own. Each to their own i suppose :)

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 11/06/2012 18:59

My sister is a nightmare on Facebook, she put on I was in labour last time I found that a bit annoying!

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 11/06/2012 19:00

I think it's cos they are so real! And that's my insides! Makes me feel all weird!!

Pinkie29 · 11/06/2012 19:03

It's each to their own with scan pics but personally I just don't like to see it, not for superstitious reasons or anything I just feel like I'm invading someone's privacy if that makes sense? Ive been this way since fb began (long before i wanted children) Once the baby is here i'll put everything up Smile

A few friends had 4d scans and loved them I just can't see it they look creepy to me :/

PomBears · 11/06/2012 19:04

i never set up a fb page for her tho - that is a tad too far!!

PomBears · 11/06/2012 19:06

Also never posted the pics of fb as think it is a very personal thing....i think the main reason i had it done in the first place was due to my impatience, seemed too long between my 20wk scan and due date!!

D30rvg · 11/06/2012 19:09

Can't believe how much has been written since last night. It was my first day back in work today after half term. Actually couldn't focus mind on anything - how can we be expected to work / function / teach / anything else with the news we have just learnt; added to that that we have to keep it a secret!!!! On top of that, we have inspections happening in school tomorrow & Thursday and so things are a bit frantic atm. Strangely though, things have been put into perspective now and I really am finding it difficult to get stressed about the lesson observations I am about to have.

mrsfleur I've been reading up on flying as we are going away in July. Apparently it does not harm your baby but it might not be a nice experience for the mother due to exhaustion &/or nausea. If you are on a long flight make sure you wear flight socks & get up every 30 mins.

SlightlyBabyCrazed · 11/06/2012 19:20

The dildo cam really isn't that bad - I have already lost all dignity down there with all the procedures! It puts less pressure on the full bladder you need to, especially good if you end up waiting long!
I guess I'm sort of lucky i'll be having an 8 week scan, but this is to check for multiples, don't really know how I feel about the twin (or more) prospect. Anyone else a possible multiple?

Hello everyone! Welcome to those who have joined in the last 24 hours, I love how much activity there has been on here.

D30!! Congrats on telling the parents last night, what a lovely story, made me grin loads Grin I know what you mean about work too - I was really busy today but already feel like I have a new perspective on things and don't think I'll let myself get stressed about work.. was desperately reading the maternity leave guidance when people weren't looking and trying to work out if I can leave at Christmas if I save up ALL my leave until then :) :)

Loads of posts made me giggle actually... I've been looking forward to coming on here tonight all day and you guys didn't let me down - talks of vag cams (!!), suggestions of Pinkie acting bonkers to let her DH agree to an early scan, and perfect admitting the idea of necking the whole bottle of wine was so attractive, hahaha.

One of my best friends at work today told me 2 or 3 times she was feeling sick and dizzy and it was so ridiculously hard not to blurt out "me too - I'm pregnant!" but I bit my tongue. Also spoke to one of my top best friends across the pond on skype last night and she even asked me outright if we were "trying" yet - lying to her was harder than not telling my Mum - this is killing me!!!

BeanDunne · 11/06/2012 19:33

I have basically told everyone and their friend... ah no just my good friends.
The way i see it is if something bad were to happen (god forbid) they will know anyway so why not.
I cant wait to tell my dad now.

Bought a digital test today just to see the word pregnant and it didnt let me down. it is so much more real now.

Dildo cam sounds interestingly dirty... i want one ;P

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 11/06/2012 19:36

I don't know how long I can hold out my tummy is swollen up already and my boobs have gone renegade. I'm feeling terribly moody, Angry anyone else?

FlyingSubmarine · 11/06/2012 19:40

Hi again! I too have been sneakily reading up on maternity leave procedures at work. Congratulations to everyone who has joined the thread.

mrsf and D30 - I'm due to fly to Portugal in September when I'll be (I think) 17 weeks, so will be interested to hear you get on with your flights. (To be honest, I hadn't thought much about the flight, more so about a holiday with no Wine and whether any of my clothes will fit me!)

PomBears · 11/06/2012 19:41

I am feeling extremely moody and weepy today, poor DH just keeps quiet Blush

FlyingSubmarine · 11/06/2012 19:42

I am feeling bloated too, and, how can I put this nicely, windier than usual
Blush

PomBears · 11/06/2012 19:45

However i have alreay reaped a benefit of pregnancy today...i went to my dentists 3 wks ago to have my teeth prepared for having some crowns fitted and when i went back today to complete the procedure she asked if anything medically had changed. Well let her know i was pregnant as wasn't sure if they could still give local anaesthetics (sp) and she said well as you were pregnant when we started the process you will be exempt from paying!!!! No proof required or anything!! Saved me £209!!! :o

BeanDunne · 11/06/2012 19:51

Im also uber bloated and windy but in a great mood.

£209 pounds wow that so good pom lots of baby stuff can be bought with that

Dp came home with a little outfit yesterday. no superstition here Grin

PomBears · 11/06/2012 19:57

BeanDunne exactly what i thought!

I wish i felt comfortable telling more people (currently only my mum and BF know) but when i told people early on with my DD i had countless comments of "still early yet" or "anything can happen" - which pissed me off upset me so figure it's easier to wait it out (belly allowing)

BabylannShallFall · 11/06/2012 19:58

I'm having cognitive behavioural therapy for health anxiety, have been having appointments for about... 5 months? And I've never cried in front of my therapist before.

Today, I went to my appointment and cried from start to finish, sobbing away. I just couldn't stop! We weren't even talking about anything that personal... just a little argument I had with DP this morning. And then whoosh, sob sob sob!

I feel quite embarrassed now actually Confused She must think I'm a hormonal wreck!
