hi everyone. am new member to mumsnet but have been having a real grin reading threads on the quiet at work! Started maternity leave today, hurragh, so thought it best to stop being a watcher and join in even though a little late. am due with first on 26 march and aged 36 (!) and still in denial:)am loving all the tips and nodding in agreement re sleeping and snoring, mine not his!Still, think dp putting up with my snoring a small price for him to pay, for the honour I am bestowing on him! Good luck everyone!

laundrylover · 27/02/2006 17:14

Welcome Manic! 36 sounds OK to me - my friend just had her second at 40 and declared she wanted two more whilst still in hospital!! Mad!
Anyone know any more details about TIL's baby girl as I can't find anything. There was mention of a section but not sure if it's fact....
My cousin had her first on Sat night, 7lb 2 boy called Ben. Sounds like a nice size to me and hope to get to see him on Thurs....may get my broody hormones going eh??

Frizbetheexpansionset · 27/02/2006 19:57

Hi Fairydust, no I damn well haven't Grin its over cooked now!!

RosiePosie · 27/02/2006 20:44

Just a quickie - am off to bed in a mo, feeling decidedly weird today! I reckon this is going to be a stop/starty affair - I've heard no. 3's often are.

Hello Munz, hope you managed to get some rest in hospital, if not - make up for it now! Would love to hear the full story some time if you are up to it.

Friz - Spatone!!! I got my blood results back today, and my levels had leapt from 10.5 to 12.9 after taking this stuff - you can take two sachets a day and there are rarely side effects. Boots sell it.

Congrats to all the new mums and babies Grin

Welcome to the thread new people Grin

Hello and good luck to everyone else Grin

MIL arriving on the island tommorrow lunchtime, so I can safely go into labour then!!

night night all xx

munz · 27/02/2006 22:19

Rom - don't read it if u don't wanna be put off! lol - it was actually positive even thou a bit tramatic. the m/w's were lovely.

balancingact · 27/02/2006 22:21

Congratulations to all the arrivals!
Hi Manic, welcome - am new to mumsnet as well and today is my first day of ML as well (am due on March 20 with no.2). I had a haircut today (i can't remember the last one tbh), and i really like it. I feel like a lady of leisure - though a fairly big and clumsy one, clearly!
I can't believe it, but my dh woke me up last night at 230am to say, "love, you're snoring" .... duh, i could have punched him!

fairydust · 28/02/2006 06:59

come on frizbe can't you just shoot it out Wink have a toni's delight curry that'll get ya in labour.

Frizbetheexpansionset · 28/02/2006 08:42

That dodgy place Shock crikey that'll certainly get me in hospital if nothing else FD Grin - Have you tried the new place in Codnor, tis lovely!

Munz, have posted on your other thread! have you started a march post natal one yet?

RP,hope its not too much of a stop starty thing and you pop soon, and very quickly Smile Spatone, thanks for that! gona have to trek and get perscription soon, so will get some of that also, actually looked it all up last night, and reckon I've only gone anemic cause I've been tested so late! (39 wks) apparently the placenta is doing that much work by then, the majority of ladies who are tested that late also show anemic, lol eh! when normally their not......
Must also chase MW re my overdue appt, as yep not a thing happening, although I did persuade dh into some 'natural' induction last night, so keeping fingers x'd Grin

Balancing act, you should have popped him one Grin cheeky git! like its not hard enough sleeping when preggers as it is! he'll no doubt be waking you in a few weeks to say the baby is snuffling/breathing etc Wink

Hope all are well today ladies?

Marne any news?

Marne · 28/02/2006 09:29

Good morning, i'm still here, getting realy fed up, keep having all the signs of going in to labour then it all stops Sad. Keep having spotting which looks like a show, had spotting at 6am this morning followed by a few twinges then nothing. Feeling realy loose down there (sorry if TMI) think i might be slightly dilated so sent dh to have a look Blush. Think i might be here for a while yet!

Munz, welcome home, sounds like you had a rough time.

Jackstini · 28/02/2006 11:26

Morning Marne - still hanging in there then. Can't blame you for getting fed up. Can you bear to manage a quickie to try and persuade your labour up a notch?!
Friz - glad to hear your dh is obliging you! Even if it does end up coming Saturday that's only 4 sleeps to go. Can't beleive your late prescription - lol!
Balancing act - I would have had a few choice words or kicked him out the bed!
Welcome to Manicmum - 36 sounds fine - I am 33 and due with my first 5 days before you
Munzie - lovely to have you back - have read your epic birth thread and lots of ((((hugs)))) for you x

Frizbetheexpansionset · 28/02/2006 12:46

Grin jackstini!

Marne, glad your dh knows what he's looking for mine has two kids now and doubt he'd still have a clue Grin

Well thought I'd quickly pop on here, as officially having lunch! Have done no 'work work' this am, instead have tried nesting to boot things along, have no cleared out nursery once more and re jigged it, have cleared out airing cupboard, re sorted into piles and chucked out loads of old stuff we don't use/have inherited etc.....and cleaned two bathrooms....so think I deserve a break....must waddle into town and get perscription this afternoon......

UniSarah · 28/02/2006 16:04

Its snowing in Devon! wow, we don't normally get snow,(apart from up on t'moor) had lots this winter compared to normal but its still a novelty.
I'm going to look at it swirling around out there and be glad I'm tucked up in the house, not out in it in a field like I would have been this time last year.
Aquanatal today was odd, I'm the next due date .... so I'm officaly the class old girl now. Bet I'll be there next week tho. Pip seems to be quite comfy where he is thank you. MW appt tomorrow , 39+6 , fingers crossed hes enguaged nicely.
UniSarah.

Frizbetheexpansionset · 28/02/2006 17:14

Ho hum, just had midwife on tel, trying to disuade me from home birth due to blood count.....which is exactly what dh wants, me in hospital........oh bugger what to do......I hate frigging hospitals.......hosp I guess, bit annoying, as have gotten everything I need for home birth now....... really annoyed tho, as if my bloods had been done correctly at 34wks, and not messed up then or when they were done again 2 weeks later at 36 wks, then no one would be any the bloomin wiser.......

RosiePosie · 28/02/2006 17:52

How low are they Friz? If they are only slightly low, there is no real cause for concern and it may just be the hospital trying to follow their policy. You are perfectly within your right to tell them to s*d your blood count and you WILL be having a homebirth. It is normal for your count to be lower at this stage, and honestly - if it's only a bit low, there is no need to worry.

Found this link for you, discussing the implications of haemaglobin levels:

www.radmid.demon.co.uk/anaemia.htm

Of course you want to do the best thing, but you need to make sure it's not just the hospital trying to follow policy regardless, or whether there is a real risk. Don't let them bully you for no reason! Taking my "pro-homebirth" hat off now Grin
