Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Frizbetheexpansionset · 28/02/2006 18:21

Hi RP, thanks for that! I'd been looking at something similar last night....I'm 9.6, which is quite low for a HB.....midwife did say she couldn't refuse me, but she sure wasn't happy, she said if I'd been 10-10.5 they'd have been ok about it.....Sad I'm just annoyed cause if they'd gotten it right weeks before, it could have been treated and counts up again in time...ya know!

Frizbetheexpansionset · 28/02/2006 18:23

I guess on the plus side I could get a water birth if I go in I suppose Smile

romilly · 28/02/2006 18:45

thats it friz - think positive Smile keep checking on to see if you have dropped yet, lol...... think cadmum might beat you to it at this rate.

hi everyone else, congrats to TIL Grin i missed your news

anyone heard of caulophyllum? a friend recommended it to me to speed things up...

munz - i read it! how could i not?!

laundrylover · 28/02/2006 23:02

Evening all!
Marne - sending tea and sympathy - keep us updated...
Friz - get necking that Spatone woman it's the biz! It's funny isn't it how tests show up things that you can be blissfully ignorant about - I haven't had bloods done since 28 wks and have had no sizing scans as not seeing a consultant. A woman I know due this week has had 5 sizing scans just because her first was a bit wee (bigger than Tilly tho!).....
Never had my bump measured either but it's grown!Grin
Well birthday party was a big success today though we were still scoffing pancakes at 8pm! However I started with contractions/fixing pains at 6.30pm and have had to have a very long bath to nip them in the bud. Pool arrived this morning so may get DP on the case tomorrow evening and start to wallow.
Reading Munz's birth tale stopped any pains I can tell you!Grin

RosiePosie · 01/03/2006 06:55

I'd be really torn in your position too Friz. I'd be tempted to stay at home ( necking the spatone in the meantime ) - but I'm really not sure ( not offering you advice here! Just waffling as to what I might do ). 2 sachets of spatone a day for a week usually raises your levels by atleast a point. You have to do whatever you feel comfortable doing Smile

Frizbetheexpansionset · 01/03/2006 09:10

Thanks for the advice and support guys, dh has stressed he'd really like me to go into hospital now, as he's already upset that they've messed up my bloods twice, and with his family history (dad died due to medical negligance....) he doesn't want to take any chances (he's also ranting about full investigations and sueing as if I'd have gone into labour prem, and anything had gone wrong, they might not have been able to do anything until it was too late.....he's very paranoid about the whole medical system now.....and is going to be a complete mare if he ever needs any treatment himself!) So that's me resigned to a hospital birth, ho hum, hope the birthing pools free Smile
Have already informed my birthing partner, who is v nearly a qualified doc herself, that if I get same headmidwife/sister/martron whatever she was... in as last time, who ignored my birthing plan and insisted I was pushing on my back, which IMO took a damn sight longer....I will hit her this time and no one is to stand in my way Grin either that or my birthing partner and dear dh need to be more forceful in backing me up!! Grin crikey I sound like a right mare don't I?! Grin I'm not really, honest....

Caulophyllum, not heard of that Rom?? herbal is it?

Think your right Cadmum will beat me to it at this rate Smile I asked dd this am, when bump will be out, she said Friday Smile oh well I guess I can wait till then, not like I have a choice!

RosiePosie · 01/03/2006 09:19

If all goes well you could be out within a few hours anyhow Friz. Good luck whatever you decide!

Cadmum · 01/03/2006 09:30

Sorry to hear about your HB levels and the possibility of a hospital birth Friz. I hope you are not too disappointed; I suspect that I would likely make the same decision...

As for me, it is now 4:20 am and I have a really comfy bed with a lovely warm duvet and yet I am wide awake... I am crampy again so I am hoping that things are getting moving slowly. I did not have a chance to see the consultant yesterday because she was running at least 1 1/2 hours behind and I was tired of waiting so I asked for another appt for this afternoon instead. The receptionist was really grumpy but I just cannot see the sense in wasting peoples time without at least offering the option of rescheduling. Should be interesting to hear what she has to say tomorrow.

My scan went beautifully except that the baby is still "sunny side up" according to the sonographer. It certainly allowed for lovely full facial shot and I was really amazed by how much this LO looks lke his/her sibblings. Both my boys were posterior but DD was not so perhaps it is a boy after all? Still thinking that it is a girl but no longer 100% convinced.

We now own a car seat and have nappies and wipes etc...

I must try to get some sleep. Hope to come back and find that Friz and RP have gone into labour. Guess you were both right about having March babies...

newgirl · 01/03/2006 11:56

Hi everyone

Friz - are you fed up about the home birth or ok? I am another one for the wonders of spa tone - its fantastic!

I am not sure that dh's are always the most helpful people when it comes to birth etc - I think mine always feels he has to get involved because how else can he be involved if you see what I mean. When I found bfeeding tricky last time he couldn't buy bottles and formula fast enough which really wound me up! it all worked out in the end and I think we will handle it all better this time!

I am sure though when you have baby in your arms you will forget completely about where you are!!

Bye for now!

Astrophe · 01/03/2006 14:54

Hi everyone, been out of action with the lurgy for a few days but we are all slowly recovering...glad to come bcak and see I'm not the only one nearing (or past...sorry Friz and RosieP :( ) dates who is not in labour yet. Am due on Sunday, but feel like I was due about 2 weeks ago. I've decided tomorrow evening is a good time...The plumber is here now fixing the leaking toilet (after 6 weeks...bl*y agents), we are almost over our sicky bug and the Tesco man came today so DH and DD will not starve in my absence :).

Friz - so sorry to hear about the shamozzle with your bloods and home birth. I really hope the birthing pool is free for you as compentation. Have never considered a home birth myself, but had DD in a birth centre and am also hoping to have a water birth this time. I know I'd be devestated if 'they' said I have to go to one of the normal delivery rooms, so I can imagine what its like to have your 'hoped for' birth changed (especially by incompetence). Still, with good MWs and a lovely big birthing pool I'm sure it would be ok. Best wishes.

Marne - sounds shockingly frustrating...hope its out soon! :o

Munz - read your birth story - crikey - you are very brave. Glad you are doing better now. Hugs to the little man.

Astrophe · 01/03/2006 15:01

Have finally decided I must ask for advice...Help with names please!!!! I think about it all night long and its driving me mad.

Our dilema: We love the name Ilya (for a girl) but we already have a girl who we call Luie. If we have an Ilya, she might be called Illy. Are Luie and Illy too similar? Would we end up tongue tied and confused, and would people think it sounds weird to have such 'matching' names?

Honest opinions please!!! (But don't be too candid in case we go with it even against popular opinion!)

I don't even think its a girl, but I'm going insane...must make a decision!

spiker · 01/03/2006 15:05

Astrophe - I don't think they sound too similar (am having same dilemma about giving DS2 name with same initial as DS1). But you do know that Illy is a brand of coffee yes? A most excellent Italian one, but still, it might bother you.

spiker · 01/03/2006 15:10

friz - poor you, rotten luck. I think I'd give in to DH. I gave in to mine early on, as he just wasn't comfortable about home birth and I felt we both had to feel OK about it to go ahead - didn't want him stressing out come the time.

have also stressed to DH that he needs to insist on active birth position and damn the bed this time round!

Astrophe · 01/03/2006 15:32

Thanks for the input Spike - I do know Illy is a coffee brand - my local past shop back in Aust made fantastic choc mousse with Illy coffe in it...oooohh I am homesick! :o But seeing as her name would be Ilya (its Russian - means 'Yaweh is God'), and Illy just a nickname we don't mind!

BTW, I think same initials is fine too...I guess not ideal (but neither are Illy and Luie), but if you like the name, what else can you do? Go for it. Maybe choose different middle initials though :).

Astrophe · 01/03/2006 15:35

Oops...thats 'pasta' shop...not that it matters :) - too far away now!

Frizbetheexpansionset · 01/03/2006 15:51

Mmmm chocolate moose....[dreamy emoticon]

Astrophe, I like Ilya, go with it Smile
thanks to you, Newgirl, Caddy and RP for your input, feeling better about it all at the mo, having just explained to dd she may well wake up in the next few days to find mummy and daddy gone and a friend here to look after her, have had to persuade her said friend will do baking with her, to make it all ok Smile

RP I'm hoping to get out of their quickly....last time I had to wait all day, as was a weekend and only one registrar on, and he started discharging at the other end of the maternity unit......didn't get out until 7pm ish......and had had dd a 9.40am and was ready to leave by 11!! lol.....

Cadmum good luck for tomorrow hon Smile can't wait to hear your birth story soon, will check back later to see how you've gotten on with the consultant today tho!!

Just have to quickly tell you all this as well, as it must be a sign!! I appear to be leaking colustrum, hurrah! this didn't happen before I had dd, so things must surely be on the move?

fairydust · 01/03/2006 18:15

oh come on frizbe it's getting such a bore seeing you on here Wink

seriously though hope the labour goes ok and that you get what you want - look forward to the announcement in the Ripley & Heanor Wink

Debbsy · 01/03/2006 20:00

cadmum good luck for tomorrow

vickiyumyum · 01/03/2006 20:15

good luck for tomorrow cadmum!

friz - hope you get moving soon, you sound as if you are getting quite desperate! i know how you feel though i have 2 weeks tomorrow until my c/s and i was hoping that when i went to a scan to check growth that they would bring it forward.

UniSarah · 01/03/2006 21:11

Two kids with the same initals can't be all bad , you only need one set of name tapes for school stuff:)

Had MW apt this morning, not great news, pips twisting and pushing and twinging over the last two weeks has moved him down wards precisely NO Fifths. Hes STILL 2/5 enguaged at 39+6 like he was at 37+4 and how ever long before that. Ho Hum, seems the boy is comfy where he is.
I'm gettting worried in case its because of my wonky pelvis ( I broke it a long time ago) or in case hes bungy jumpng on a short cord.Dh is trying hard to reassure me hes just happy where he is and will drop down when hes ready to come out like a 2nd kid ( hes a 1st). Hosp apt tomorrow am so maybe will find out more then.
UniSarah ( slighty worried, but trying not to)

Cadmum · 01/03/2006 22:44

Guess who is in labour?

Saw the consultant this afternoon after a contraction filled morning and she confirmed that I am 3 cm and stretchy... I will be so pleased if I can avoid the dreaded induction after all. Baby is still posterior but she could feel her head.

The interesting thing is that she measured my fundal height today (for the first time this whole pregnancy) Shock and got 36 cm so she does suspect that this LO is ickle.

I will get CadDad to post an announcement as soon as he is up to it. He has a bad cold and has been working 12-14 hours a day with the exception of our big shopping day yesterday.

I intend to stay in the hospital until they kick me out as this is my last baby and I raced out followiing the first two only to have them become horribly jaundices and had DS2 at home (which was LOVELY beyond words) only to spend weeks on end with him in hospital on IV anti-biotics so I will just stay put and take advantage of having my parents and DH to care for the other three while I chill out with baby.

Debbsy · 01/03/2006 23:20

oohh good luck cadmum hope its not too klong or painful for you. xx

Frizbetheexpansionset · 02/03/2006 09:09

Much good luck Cadmum Grin hurrah another one off GrinGrin take your time in hosp enjoying the quality time with your newbie Grin wouldn't worry about the fundal height, I've only been measuring 1cm bigger! (Rom you were right!)

Unisarah, try not to worry, sure your bubba will just drop in the last day or so and voila your bouncing bundle will be delivered!

Lol Fairydust I'm still here...you can't get rid of me that easily!..VYY your right, get this baby out now! let's see if dd's prediction of Friday was right eh!! if I don't post tomorrow you know why Grin

Hope everyone has a good day Smile have booked an action packed afternoon for dd, in the hope it'll kick my contractions off! failing that MW round tomorrow am to do a sweap!

zephyrcat · 02/03/2006 09:28

Good luck Cadmum!! This thread is so surreal - it feels really really quick now in the sense that it only seems like yesterday we were all joining up here with new pregnancies!! Also Envy that I've got about another 5 weeks to go! Although getting so many aches and pains I swear she wants to come out now! Having a bit of a dilemma at the moment - DP lost his job and has gone for an interview with British Gas this morning which would be a fab job if he got it - except he has to do 10 weeks training, 5 of them residential which means he'd probably be gone in the next couple of weeks Shock As long as they let him home for a couple of day for the birth I can just about cope I think although it's not going to be fun with my two and a newborn after a cs for 5 weeks :( What's that saying? It never rains.......?!!

Astrophe · 02/03/2006 11:48

Best wishes Cadmum! Great you missed the induction. Hope all goes well and quickly.
