coppertop · 12/03/2006 14:02

I'm useless at linking to other threads but Anchovies has posted her birth announcement already. She managed a C/S despite the anaesthetic wearing off. Ouch!

Jackstini · 12/03/2006 14:03

oops Friz - crossed posts there so you can stay a year younger for a bit longer if you like!
Taken me a while to catch up - we had a happy arrival in the family - although not mine yet unfortunately! My SIL gave birth to a little girl yesterday, Evie Grace, 7lb 13oz.
Hopefully only 9 days to go for me
Manicmum - yes I am trying the raspberry leaf tea just in case it works!
Saw mw last week and she thinks this baby is a big one but you never know...
Coppertop - lol at the mw saying give birth or burst! sure it won't be long for you now
Laundry - yes would be just sod's law for baby to make a move just as pool has emptied..... Get boiling some saucepans and kettles so you can fill it quicker!
Chellebelle and Spiker - hoping to hear more from you soon.... sounded like you were on the way!

Frizbe · 12/03/2006 18:12

Lol Jackstini! I'll happily stay younger!! managed to log on twice in one day, as dh just take dd1 and ss to video store, to get ss's present from dd2! so small break before the bedtime routine kicks in, that's if dd2 doesn't wake up soon!

Marne · 13/03/2006 08:58

Hope you all had a good weekend, so manny babies all at once, congratulations to you all,

Im 39 weeks tomorow, started having pains sat night and still having them now but they dont seem to be painful enough to be contractions and they dont seem to be getting closser together, whats going on? Is this the start of a long labour or is there somthing else wrong? Im not sure if i should phone the midwife or leeve it and see if it progresses. I cant realy remember what labour pains feel like only that last time it was painful and i could'nt sit still. Also getting spasm like pains down my legs which are realy painful.
Sory about the rant but getting fed up of all these faulse alarms, cant wait

gothicmama · 13/03/2006 09:00

I too am fed up with all teh false alarms altho I ma nlw thinking they are practice ones for when it all gets started.

catj · 13/03/2006 09:11

Can I join in with the moaning too! I've been getting twinges for ages and I know it sounds stupid but I haven't gone into labour before spontaneously!(Dd1 was induced and Dt's were c-section). I wouldn't mind the pain if it was going to lead to something but its frustrating to think "is this it?" and then it all stops. Anyway its a full moon tomorrow night so you never know :)

Marne · 13/03/2006 09:12

DD was born on a full moon, it would be spooky if this one was too.

Frizbe · 13/03/2006 09:12

Marne et all! I had pains down my legs for a few days before hand this time, but then all my labour pains were really low down this time too?! Shock probably things starting to move for you Smile Hope you all have a good day, sounds like dd2 is demanding food, so better go!

gothicmama · 13/03/2006 09:13

fingers crossed then. I really don't think dh (or me) can cope with the uncertainity and the is this it or not for another two weeks

Marne · 13/03/2006 09:20

Pains are realy low down but not very streong, lets hope this is it, im ready for it!

laundrylover · 13/03/2006 11:34

Hey Marne, Catj and Gothicmama - here's hoping that those pains really do turn into something....I'm the same with a few false alarms leading to nothing. It's very frustating and I much preferred the first time with nothing at all before my labour, even if it was incredibly long!!
I'm sure something must be moving for us and maybe this means our babies will just fly out with a minute's warning at some point next week.Grin

spiker · 13/03/2006 12:40

Jackstini - no, no baby yet. Good thing too as DS is very poorly with tonsillitis and is a handful to look after in my new, non-child proofed house. Apparently you can have a show up to 3 weeks in advance of labour, so have stopped panicking now. Mind you it was only a few days in advance last time.

hi helen - we are due on same day (23rd), and as I've just moved house I'm actually hoping this labour will be late rather than early - got so much to do! Even though I can't bend and my belly feels bruised and like it's about to burst, I'm sure I'm getting more done than if he had popped out.

romilly · 13/03/2006 14:34

spiker - glad you have now got the move done. i have all that fun to come still!

congrats to oneofeach!

well, i have one day left before i will be induced - weds. morning. got one last acupuncture session now. you never know.....!

hope you are all not too uncomfortable.

InternationalGirl · 13/03/2006 14:52

Lots of new babes - fantastic - congratulations to all Grin and welcome to the new bundles.

I've been having the 'practise pains' too - nothing I can time or feel like there's any progress though. Saw my Ob/Gyn this morning who gave me a good poke to see if it would help start anything up - nothing yet. Little bit early yet - I fully expect to go at least until this weekend then feel it could be any day after next Monday.

This week I'll try to keep busy and rest - bit of a contradiction but you know what I mean Smile - might have to call on friends to loan me a bunch of dvd's or I'll wear myself out nesting! Ob/Gyn says it's hard to tell at this stage but she thinks our babe is already at least 8 lb Shock - it's gonna be ouch. My 2 previous were 'just under 7lb and just under 8lb' - I hope this one isn't just under 9!!

Hope those nigglies turn into something for you girls feeling it - time for another babe I reckon - can't believe we are already almost halfway through March!

manicmumtobe · 13/03/2006 18:05

Phew, more congrats to the new arrivals..getting envious nothing happening for me, cant bear the thought of could be another month (due 26th) if rumours of firsts always being late come true! LOL re the 3 wheeler advise, glad I am not the only cynic:) Have been having severe groin/hip pain for no reason in spasms, makes me v nervous as 9/10 pain and that isnt even labour..worse still DP couldnt hear my screams for attention over his xbox doh, gonna make him carry mobile round house from now on so no more excusesGrin.
LOL re gunea pig dating serviceGrin
Best of luck for the rest of march mums waiting to pop.

chellebelle · 13/03/2006 19:49

Hello All!

Congrats to the new arrivals - yes we have one to add too Grin

Emily Grace was born at home at 8.40am on Thursday 9th March weighing in at 8lb 12oz. Labour was very stop start but once it got going it was all extremely fast - went from 5cm to giving birth in just over an hour! Emily gave us a bit of a fright in that she wasn't breathing or responding at all when she first came out and still only had an apgar of 7 at 10 minutes so had ambulance called etc but all ok in the end. Had to go in to hospital for me to be stitched up and for Emily to be checked over but was out again in 3 1/2 hours so not too bad.

Have to say I would highly reccommend a homebirth for number 2 (even with the last minute complications) as whole experience was soooo much better than with DS.

Congratulations again to all the other new borns. Will post a birth announcement with all the gory details hopefully later in the week once we've done the rounds of visiting the world!

Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

laundrylover · 13/03/2006 20:48

Well done Chellebelle on Emily Grace - we wondered where you'd got to!!
Also thanks for words of encouragement re homebirth - it must have been surreal when she was not responding but I know that babies try these things on just to test us parents eh??? I used to panic when my lambs and calves did that to me but we used to swing them round by their legs and they always got going - not sure MW would recommend that action!GrinThank goodness she is doing well now and hope your stitches are not too painful. Will look out for more details...
IntGirl - those size predictions never seem to be right from other MNers experiences so let's hope it's not a whopper!
Manic LOL at Xbox! If you have to keep calling him on his mobile he will be a nervous wreck in a weekGrin.

Astrophe · 13/03/2006 21:08

Wow - I can't keep up with whose had who...congratulations to all of those with new bubs and best wishes to thos still waiting...its exhausting having a newbie of course, but my heart goes out to those getting close - I'm very glad to be on this side of labour despite the sleepless nights!

Elijah is feeding really well and is sleeping a bit more now that my 'real' milk is in (boobs are like enormous rocks...how did I forget about early breastfeeding? Ouch!)

We are coping surprisingly well (all our family is in Aust, but hubby has a week off) but I am a bit scared about how I will go next week without DH. Any tips anyone?

Romilly; my only posterior tip is to take pethadine, if thats your style. I took it when I was about 7-8cm I guess...it really helped with the betwee-contraction-back pain and that made thr whole thing more bearable. It got pretty intense. Also I laboured knealing over a bean bag and DH gave a really hard massage through each contraction...I have the bruises to show for it! But it really helped. Good luck Rom.

helencook2711 · 13/03/2006 23:03

Hey all, just thought i'd check in before bed. Looks like you're possibly the closest Marne with all the pain you've been having! Well best of luck to you Romilly for Wednesday, how exciting-must be a bit of a weird feeling to be induced as you know what the results going to be, but waiting for the unexpected!
And thanks to Chellebelle re: home birth as we are hoping to have, interesting to know you still found it better even with a bit of drama!
Oh and spiker-what a bit of healthy competition, which one of us will go first with the same due date! I must say, I would also prefer a late rather than early- Still getting my head around the fact there will be another human being-feeling v v emotional towards dd1.
For stats purposes.....am 25yrs expecting baby #2 due 23rd March, don't know what flavour, have dd1 aged 23 months. Live in Crawley, West Sussex with DH aged 26 and two fluffball cats.

helencook2711 · 13/03/2006 23:04

What on Earth am I still doing awake at this hour! Am retiring.

Jackstini · 14/03/2006 10:54

Laundry - pmsl at the thought of you swinging the baby animals round by their legs & what the midwife would say to that suggestion!!
Chellebelle - congrats on Emily Grace and well done with your homebirth. Will look forward to the gory details. Wonder who will be next....
Anyway I am celebrating today - my last day at work was yesterday and I feel free free free today!!! GrinGrinGrin Going to do a bit of last minute shopping for the hospital bags now - really should get organized with only a week until due day Blush

munz · 14/03/2006 11:02

good luck for tomorrow rom hope all goes well.

well things really are hotting up now! congratulations to all of you who have already had your babies! :o

i had my last m/w appt yesterday, went to the hospital for my pre-op bloods today, day of rest tomorrow, and then off to the hospital for 7.30a.m on thursday, so hopefully will have had lucy/ollie by lunchtime!!! omg i will then be a mum to three kids! aaggghhhh what am i doing?

got my sister round today , changing the beds for me, great to have an excuse not to do it, she is also tidying the kids bedrooms as they have been ignoring my pleas to pick up all the c**p off the floor. and just waiting around for the dishwasher repair man, to come, at least this one is under guarantee its only three months old but smells of burning rubber everytime you use it!
