Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Just rushed home and rushing out again, so not had time to catch up, but just to say the scan was fine - the baby was fast asleep with its legs in the air and arms thrown back like a newborn does. When sonographer started prodding it jumped up, wriggled and turned on its side to go asleep again - looking very much like it was turning its back on us!

I though I was 11+4 weeks but they say 12+3 and EDD 10th November (which I thought it was anyway, but MW had said 16th!)

TheDetective · 01/05/2012 18:39

Shanelle Have you had time to think about the options? I guess your head is all over the place today... it all comes down to what you want. If you want a definite answer - go for the CVS. If it wouldn't make any difference to how you feel, then having an invasive procedure is pointless (in my personal opinion).

DP's mum is slightly more enthusiastic. She is grandmazilla though, so I'm not sure what is worse at the moment! DP doesn't know his Dad - but this baby will already have my mum and her husband, my dad (maybe!!) and his wife as grandparents, so don't think it will do too badly, if certain people buck up their ideas! I told my mum my dad still hasn't called me despite saying he would. She said, he's a twat! I agree Grin

Congratulations to the ladys who have had scans today! And another set of twins! Very exciting! I can't keep up with the posts today - its been a busy board!

Valium I have been planning my leave too - I start annual leave Oct 1st, and go on mat leave from 5th Nov. Even though it is after my due date lol! I go back at the beginning of June after 6 months mat leave and a further 4 weeks hols. But only if I can save up enough money for the extra 4 weeks holiday. I am planning on working as much as I can in the October to save up. Also doing a few extra shifts on my annual leave in June.

I can't remember who posted about sex - we are finding out and keeping it secret. Scan now booked for 20th May when I will be 16+1 :)

I'm so glad I started back on the meds last night. I feel human again today! Been shopping and stocked up on snacks and sweets to keep me going at work as well as lots of cartons of fresh orange! Going to have to sticky label the lot - as people keep eating my food in work! Oh, another one for those who are enjoying salad/fruit things. American style salad (the sweet and crispy lettuce with shredded carrot) with chopped cherry tomatoes. Covered in a light vinaigrette dressing. OH. MY. GOD! Heaven in a bowl!

WestWinger · 01/05/2012 18:46

Daisy - yay! Fab news!

applepieinthesky · 01/05/2012 18:51

Yayyyyy for izzy and daisy!!! It's so lovely to hear good news Smile Izzy we share a due date. I think there are a few of us now.

Finally telling my mum tomorrow aaaaaaaaaaaaaarghh!! Why am I so nervous? Confused I had a dream last night I asked her to go to my scan with me (as is the plan) and she said no and wasn't interested in my pregnancy at all. I woke up this morning and felt quite upset by it even though I knew it wasn't real.

DP told his family over the phone a few days ago and he said his younger sister just screamed because she was so happy. She has been asking us for years when we will be having a baby and the answer was always 'not yet'

StuntNun · 01/05/2012 19:10

DH made me a puny little stir fry for dinner and I'm still starving (don't tell him Nutella). Would it be very naughty of me to go to the chip shop while he's at the library?

I have this nagging pain in my left buttock as if I'd been kicked in the bum. Then it's numb down my left thigh and my left calf aches. I also seem to be waddling a bit but I've only put on 1.5 lb. I was wondering if it could be PGP and whether I should go see the GP or just go straight to the physiotherapist. I didn't have this problem in my last three pregnancies so I'm not sure about it. I was at A&E with it when it started four weeks ago do I'm a bit concerned it might get worse? Anyone have any ideas? I could ask the consultant at my scan Friday week but I tend to think the physiotherapist would be more likely to be able to help.

Hi all,

I haven't been around for aaaaages as was really suffering with sickness and tiredness. It was as much as I could do to look after dd but I feel like I am coming out the other end and so have added myself to the scan list. I'm not sure if the smiley faces have copied properly so feel free to retry!

izzy great news on the scan! :)

blonderthanred · 01/05/2012 19:44

Wow, lots of interesting discussions about gender and maternity leave, as well as (most importantly) lots of happy news re scans including the exciting TWINS news!

My friend who had twins in Nov came in today to my work and chatted to my boss who is about to go on mat leave to have her own pair. A boy and a girl in each case. She has got on amazingly and I am sure you will do the same garden.

TheDetective · 01/05/2012 20:01

Bollocks. My leg is completely dead! Hello sciatica arghhhhh!

Chunkychicken · 01/05/2012 20:04

Stuntnun I've had a pulling 'pain' in my left buttock. It was mainly hurting when I walked & it caused my foot to almost 'slap' down when I took a step. Saw the chiropractor & he said my pelvis was pulling slightly to the left (carrying DD on my left hip maybe). I guess it must be to do with the sciatic nerve & gets pressure during pg? Anyway, I would always say prevention is better than trying to cure & if it is the start of PGP then you're better off getting physio sooner rather than later iyswim.

I spent ages typing a long response earlier and then my phone died. Can't remember what I was going to say now!!!

Found my pg diary from with DD earlier & remembered that my boobs starting leaking at 20wks!!!! Blush 9 more breast pad free weeks then for me huh??!!! Hmm

Congrats everyone on the scans.Grin

WaitingForMe · 01/05/2012 20:31

DHs ex is the loveliest woman in the world. Fact!

I've always appreciated how nice she is to me, stuff like inviting me to her house when she's hosting stuff for the kids. She came to our wedding reception and sure it was a bit odd and it's a bit stilted but I love how she genuinely puts her kids first and as I'm their stepmum that means treating me as part of the family.

We texted her at the weekend (when we told the boys) so she had chance to digest alone and a few hours later got a polite congratulations. But she's just texted to offer the travel cot and old car seat that DSS2 doesn't need any more.

She's just super isn't she!

WestWinger · 01/05/2012 21:48

Waiting - you both sound lovely. Lucky kids! :)

StuntNun · 01/05/2012 22:21

Thanks Chicken. I have a great physiotherapist who sorted out a chronic neck problem for me last year so I'll give him a call. I can get four appointments paid for through my work healthcare scheme (hooray for US-based companies) and I can self-refer so much quicker than the NHS would take. I see I'm the mirror that I'm standing with one hip higher than the other so there's definitely some underlying problem. Anyhoo off to bed now for me. 'Night all!

Evening girls - thread moving as quick as always, Ive had a rough catch up.
lolly I'm a midwife and have had this chat with loads of friends about delivering their babies. Ive never done it and actually now take a back seat even in baby conversations with friends. In some ways I'd love to deliver people I know but you do sometimes have to be stern with people or say things aren't going to plan etc and I don't know if I want to be in that situation with a friend. Saying that, I'm booked to deliver where I work as I love my colleagues and wouldn't have anyone else look after us but I wonder if that may be a bit different as I am in the job so they don't have to explain much to me - it will be more me explaining to my hubby. A lot of my colleagues have come in with their friends and family members and they usually act as a doula which is quite a good compromise as there's no responsibility.

garden huge congratulations, great to see another set of twins on here!!! I'm a twin mum to be too, these are my first, how about you?
I was thinking now we are all going for 12 week scans some more twins may pop up and not everyone has been scanned yet so we could get more still!! We knew at 8 weeks as I had an early scan but it's still sinking in. My belly is huge for 13 weeks though so it must be true!!!

gardenpixies32 · 02/05/2012 07:21

Thanks nebbo. Congratulations on your twins, I did read about it on earlier threads. Big shock huh!?

They will be my first DC. I didn't have an early scan so I think it will take a while for it to sink in. I am 13+2 today. Still have bad MS and hoping it will clear soon. I find the only thing that seems to help is keeping busy. It tends to be worse at the weekends when I am lazing about. During the week when I am working I am so busy that I don't have the time to actually feel sick. I am big too, but glad I have an explanation now! How do you feel with sickness? I have also started getting a numb upper bum! Is so strange and uncomfortable. Wonder what that is about.

nebbo · 02/05/2012 08:35

I think I've gone to good days and bad days with the ms. I'm sure it's better than it was. Still totally off tea, very weird! That's funny about the bum, I've noticed it being numb after a while but I thought it was that I've been moved to a desk job!! I'm sure it's nothing major. I hope your having fun being able to tell everyone now.

So has anyone been trying to buy maternity clothes or anything off eBay? Wow it's competitive!! I managed to get a pair of trousers yesterday but have lost loads of bids!

stabiliser15 · 02/05/2012 08:41

Congrats to all with scan good news and special congrats to garden.

Re the sex, think we will find out, we did with DD, as I also have DSD who made her preference for a little sister clear, and if DD had been a boy, we wanted to prepare her. DH is convinced he is destined to be surrounded by women for the rest of his life (no bad thing, I feel), but I know he'd love a boy. Ultimately neither of us mind as long as all is well, but we're definitely the sort to find out if we can.

Havent started to think properly about maternity leave yet, am the breadwinner so will probably work as close to due date as possible and then take 6 months plus holidays off. Last mat leave my parents helped us out financially - if I didnt have their support I'd have to either go back after 6 weeks or take a mortgage holiday, which I'm not keen on, but will do if necessary.

waiting that is lovely of her. We havent always had the easiest of relationships with DH's ex, but when I had DD it really made us all part of a larger family. DH's ex is very fond of DD and has been very generous with DSD's old baby things, and the girls adore each other. Hope your DSSs enjoy having a new sibling!

DesperateHousewife21 · 02/05/2012 09:00

12 weeks today :)

applepieinthesky · 02/05/2012 09:26

Yay DH so am I Smile Feels good doesn't it?

I am so nervous about my scan tomorrow though and telling my mum tonight. eeek!!

blonderthanred · 02/05/2012 09:32

Congrats DH & apple. Great milestone to reach both for the baby and you.

DesperateHousewife21 · 02/05/2012 09:34

Yay apple that's great, wish my scan was tomorrow not next fri grr!

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 02/05/2012 09:50

Greats news on the scans everyone!

horseylady · 02/05/2012 09:53

Anyone else feel really cold like?? My body aches all over in all my joints, my nose is running and I feel just run down :( I don't know whether to take something or just see it through?

NervousAt20 · 02/05/2012 10:22

Morning all :-)

Anyone have scans today? There's no one on the list but wondering anyway

Re sex, we will find out the sex, both of us just want to know and get ready for either a little girl or boy and I think if I said I didn't want to find out it would break partners heart lol he's like an over excited child and can't wait but I want to no too Grin

Congrats DH21 and apple 12 weeks today! Only1 more week until the 2nd trimester :) woo

daisychain76 · 02/05/2012 11:06

Hello everyone

Congrats garden and great news izzy. Hope it goes well tonight, apple (my mums reaction "this has made me realise you're very different than me, I use my head to make decisions", but she is being great now it has sunk in!) Quite nervous because telling DS (7) and DD (5) tonight and no idea what they will say or think...

Even though I'm not finding out the sex, I am convinced it's a girl. Even to the extent I shall probably end up buying a really cute pink outfit I've seen. It will be a real shock now if I'm wrong!
