Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
gardenpixies32 · 01/05/2012 15:59

Thanks everyone. I am still in a bit of shock.

Both my grandmothers had non identical twins but despite having an enormous family with 30+ cousins on both side no one else seems to have the hyper ovulation gene. Apparently if there are twins on the father's side of the family, it doesn't matter as the gene is not passed down from the father (as he obviously can't hyper ovulate).

Stunned!!!

horseylady · 01/05/2012 16:05

I thought I felt something last 2 nights really faint but fluttery. Not sure 13+6 so......

horseylady · 01/05/2012 16:06

Garden brill news on the twins!!

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 01/05/2012 16:07

That's really exciting garden. Although could be a bit nerve wracking if you decide to have another - knowing you are likely to have more twins!

I always think it must be really nice for twin babies to always have company. I wonder if they cry less?

applepieinthesky · 01/05/2012 16:08

wow garden that's awesome Smile I would love twins because then I could get it all over in one go and not have any more kids Grin but I don't think I'll be that lucky. There are two sets on my mum's side of the family though and another set due in 6 weeks. All non-identical boy & girl.

Elizadoesdolittle · 01/05/2012 16:21

Ah another set of twins on the thread, huge congratulations garden how lovely. I always thought it would be nice to have twins but after having one I'm glad I've just got the one Smile I think having twins as your first pregnancy would be fine as you don't know any different if you know what I mean. Sorry I hope that sounds encouraging, it was meant to!

So whose finding out what sex the baby is? I didn't with DD and always thought with a 2nd I would but now I don't think I will. I do remember that some of you are but I can't remember all the names, sorry. Think you are dh21?

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 01/05/2012 16:25

We're going to find out. I like the idea of it being a surprise, but dh really wants to know, and if he knows I kind of have to!

Chunkychicken · 01/05/2012 16:33

Definitely not finding out the sex Eliza was a surprise with DD & loved the not-knowing & really didn't mind either way then, & don't now. I mean, a girl would mean all the clothes get another use but would be nice to have 1 of each. Plus, I like the idea of treating both foetuses (as DD was then & this one) equally if that does seem too mad!!!

Garden glad you confirmed my thoughts about twins. My Dad is a non-identical twin & DH was so sure that DD was a girl, he's now equally sure we've got an extra baby on board... I'm fairly certain its not. Guess I'll find out in 2wks!! I know a friend of a friend who's on their 2nd set of twins so it could be quite a interesting idea if you want more than 2 children Grin

WestWinger · 01/05/2012 16:39

All went well today - phew!! I have looked for Daisy and Izzy but can't see any posts from them - have I missed them?

Garden - what fantastic news, so pleased for you!

We are going to find the gender if we can - we did the same with DD so like you, Chunky, we want to do the same for both, except the other way round!

DesperateHousewife21 · 01/05/2012 16:39

Yes hopefully we'll be finding out in about a month at the private scan Grin

Thechick · 01/05/2012 16:44

I'm definately going to find out.
I want to know as much as I can about this thing that I'm growing inside of me and the sex is the only thing at this stage. It makes me feel closer. Im not into that pink for a girl and blue for a boy stuff. It wont make a difference in that way.

horseylady · 01/05/2012 16:47

We will find out if we can at the 20 week scan. I wasn't worried dh wants to know but now (having agreed!!) I don't want to find out!!?? I'm just not worried what I have. Initially I thought a girl would be nice but now both are appealing. Just have to remember 2 legs not 4. I'm not pregnant with a foal (though would probably be better equipped!!)

WaitingForMe · 01/05/2012 16:54

Congratulations Garden.

My maternity "leave" was kinda planned into my move to be freelance. I'll do the odd bit starting in the New Year when MIL has the baby (she looked after my stepsons one day a week and will do the same for us) but just build it up once baby and I have figured out what we're doing (ie. If it takes proper naps).

YellowWellies · 01/05/2012 16:56

Wahey more twins!!! Lovely news Garden

We're def' not finding out the sex. Our PCT has a policy not to tell you anyway so that suits us fine. I figure finding out the surprise will be a nice reward after the pushing stage! This doesn't of course stop us endlessly speculating. Am sure it's a girl!

Any news from Daisy and Izzy? Any others due scans today?

We've got our official 12 week one at 9am tomorrow, though I'll be 11 weeks.... in an attempt to try to fit it in before our hols. Hope we manage to get a clear picture - though am a proper bloaty lardy sausage roll at the moment - so it'll probably be blurry Blush. Have just been packing for hols and so little fits. Have had to get new bikini tops - which isn't bad but I too seem to have put weight on my arse and hips too! My sister assures me this is the body putting on fat for breast feeding energy stores... I think it's cake retention Blush

PetiteRaleuse · 01/05/2012 17:03

Good to see so much good news on here, but sorry to see some have worries of one form or another.

Are those of you who were suffering from bad morning sickness better?

I still have headaches but will ask OB GYN about them at my next scan in just under two weeks if they haven't gone by then. Unfortunately as I am on vacation 16/17 weeks they have to do my next scan at 15w3d so no doubt too early to tell the gender. I will have to wait until the 20 week scan.

Over here you have to warn them if you don't want to know, otherwise they will just tell you. Luckily with DD I wanted to know anyway.

Passmethecrisps · 01/05/2012 17:12

stabiliser15 congrats on the scan. It wil be great to start sharing the good news.

Clarella and chunkychicken I have been putting on weight all over my lower half. I carry more weight on my bottom half anyway but my thighs and hips feel enormous. I look like I have been overdosing on the crisps.

shanelle5 and detective reading about your parents' responses makes me mad/sad. Some people really are beyond belief. I was a but nervous about telling mine because in my head I imagine that they see me as about 15 rather than 33 and a married woman. I suppose all you can do is strive to be a better parent.

gardenpixies32 incredible! Did you have any inkling? I suspect that my DH quite fancies twins but there are no sets of twins on either side so fairly unlikely. What a lovely surprise though!

Thechick that article made me laugh - she did more prettifying before giving birth than I did before getting married!

WestWinger brilliant news about scan. Did you get nice pics?

I haven't felt anything (other than wind) but I wouldn't expect to at 12+5 with DC1. Looking forward to it though.

We haven't yet decided about finding out the sex. Our authority won't tell so it would need to be a private scan which costs about £100 round here. It seems a lot of money for something we don't actually need. I think we will wait and see closer to the time. DH is dead set that we don't tell anyone else though.

Not been great today - ended up staying off from work. Got a headache which just won't shift and just generally feeling wabbit. Think I have a bit of a cold mixed in with a spot of incubation. I am sure I will be better tomorrow.

LittleLolly · 01/05/2012 17:18

I don't really want to find out but DH really does want to know! Ah well we've got til June 12th to decide.

My sister had a very lovely baby yesterday, but her experience has made me slightly terrified for actually giving birth to this baby now! Eek, it's got to come out hasn't it!

Just a quick one for you: my friend is a midwife and I asked her to deliver the baby. She works at the hospital where I will be having the baby. She was thrilled and can't wait. However, everyone I mention it to says 'ooh I couldn't have a friend do that'. Am I very strange or what? I would much prefer to have a friend deliver my baby than a stranger!

Glad to see lots more happy scans! :)

goldene · 01/05/2012 17:19

Oh exciting Garden! And a lot of work coming up of course.

Congrats to everyone whose scans have come in and been fine. According to Dr Google, chance of a Downs baby for a mother who is 43 is 1 in 69. Therefore we must simply cross our fingers. Scan on Friday - can't wait.

WestWinger · 01/05/2012 17:39

stabiliser - I missed your post - sorry, but congratulations on your scan - yay!! Great news.

gardenpixies32 · 01/05/2012 17:42

Passme - I did have an inkling but thought..."no way" it can't be twins.

I have been very sick, sometimes 3-6 times a day. My belly is rock hard and I was sure I could feel movement at around 12 weeks. I thought I was imagining it so brushed the thoughts aside.

Having more regular scans now including one on Friday to test for downs. Midwife who deals with multiples said that the blood test is inaccurate with twins so having nuchal fold test this Friday.

I am still a bit freaked out TBH.

Thanks for the lovely kind wishes everyone :)

NervousAt20 · 01/05/2012 17:46

WOW!! Congratulations garden I'm sure you are shocked!

Grin so glad everything went well today westwinder
Hopefully we'll hear from izzy and daisy soon!

yellow I no all about cake retention asked my partner today, have I gained weight?Blush He took way too long to answer before saying no! That earned someone a burnt dinner tonight Grin

littlelolly I don't know about the friend, It would be nice for the midwife to be your friend and you know they'll be kind and supportive but I think I'd rather it be a stranger to see all my glory Grin

I've decided I hate hate hate doing shopping! I don't know what I want for dinner tonight let alone next week! And I can't think of things easy enough to cook im not lazy I swear
Almost got a parking ticket today too!! I didn't no I couldn't park there! Went into the shop for 2 min and the women was bloody horrible and said I should of read the 1 sign in the whole street that was down the other end cow so I quickly drove off before she finished writing the ticket Blush

izzybizzybuzzybees · 01/05/2012 18:02

Just home from work so very late post. Scan went well and baby is due 14th November so two days after what I thought. Seen consultant as well as midwife and have my 20week scan date already :)

StuntNun · 01/05/2012 18:10

Garden so having twins does skip a generation then?

OP posts:
WestWinger · 01/05/2012 18:15

Izzy - great news!!

Tiago · 01/05/2012 18:26

Fab news izzy. Were they able to see what was causing the bleeding?
