Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
WestWinger · 19/05/2012 18:46

I am obviously very hormonal and sensitive - but I feel I have been deliberately excluded from our little NCT group. There is talk (email) of organising a night out and we all put in which dates we could do - after much to-ing and fro-ing one of the girls (who doesn't like me) has suggested one of the dates I can't do. When some of the other girls suggested we look at other days in order to include me, this girl dismissed that out of hand and said they should just go ahead and book a table on the date I can't do. I came back and said that I could do some other dates, but now another girl (good friends with the girl who doesn't like me) has just said that despite what I said she will go ahead and book the table for the night I can't do.

Feeling really quite upset about it all. I am probably being hyper sensitive but I can't help but feel that they are being really catty.

Sorry for the rant. :(

ShellyBobbs · 19/05/2012 18:46

I can't stop weeing, I'm bad enough as it is but it's doubly bad now. I walked in BHS this morning, sneezed and had to run very quickly to the loo!

I'm currently bidding on a pram on ebay at the moment, but will have to travel from Manchester to Newcastle if I win Shock no idea why I started bidding but it's got everything including all the accessories I need. Also have a moses basket and stand saved in my watch list, luckily this is a posted item and will be bought next month after pay day.

Have been looking at nursery furniture but have no idea where any of it will go, it's a squeeze in this house as it is :)

As for this age debate, I was 25, 26, 29 and will be 37 when this little one will be born. As long as you're a good mum I can't see why age should even come into it, it's just a ridiculous argument altogether; my mum had 2 children in her 40's (42 + 44) after me in her 20's and my brother in her 30's. An argument started by petty little idiots who really have nothing better to do than start pathetic 'debates' with faceless people. Chunky you did right coming off that thread :)

ShellyBobbs · 19/05/2012 18:53

Oooh, also regarding due dates, my 12 week scan brought my date forward by 4 days. I know for an absolute fact that this is not right because I know the exact moment I conceived, we didn't have the deed for a week before, on the night of conception the condom broke then we didn't have it for ages. I can understand if they moved it back by 4 days due to the swimmers having a little kip on the way to egg land.

Maybe telling your midwife the contraception failed on a particular night 3 evening previous may persuade her to move the date? Of course you may already have told her different and others may think this is incredibly naughty, in which case I'll slap my hand Grin

SwissArmyWife · 19/05/2012 20:06

WestWinger - They do sound like they're being catty, do you have any idea why? Can you talk to any of the other girls about how those two acted and see if they noticed aswell?

If I was you i'd say sod it and find a different group to join!

Shelly - The things we do for our children! Still at least you're getting those things already, I have a few clothes so far and that's it Blush But I expect when i'm feeling more alive i'll go on a huge shopping spree Grin

Passmethecrisps · 19/05/2012 20:07

Evening all!

How is everyone? We have had a pretty lazy day today as I just don't feel like doing anything. Currently watching a programme about Are You Being Served and Allo Allo. Sitting with DH reminiscing about watching them as kids. I had never noticed just how rude it was - mum and dad must have been tittering quietly.

I got the spotty maternity dress from next today. I ordered it thinking it would be suitable for a wedding in a fortnight. Let's just say I am glad I have alternatives. It was dreadful on me. Think it will be empire line frocks with a bump band instead.

DH and I treated ourselves to posho Heinz beans on toast today for lunch. Concerningly they tasted slightly odd and I think they might have been a bit off. Glad it's just us in the house - off beans does not make for fresh smells!!

Got our very first baby clothes this morning! MIL has been knitting and sent us a wee package of cardigans and a couple of wee bonnets. They are adorable! Also sent us a little wooden piggy bank with a tiger on - she must have read my mind that I fancied a jungle type nursery.

Just been telling DH about the concerns raised above about people not getting NT scans. Now he knows that there were steps she could have taken to shift sausage about he is a bit piqued. Ah well.

Passmethecrisps · 19/05/2012 20:11

Oh, and westwinger I meant to say that I think that sounds really mean. I hate that sort of behaviour - women do it sooo well. I deal with teenagers isolating each other every day - they decide they don't like someone so decide that person must disappear off the face of the earth. It is irritating when t comes from a 13 year old but it is deeply frustrating when some adults obviously haven't grown out of it.

Forget that night out - contact a few of your close buddies in the same group and arrange something small with them. Put it on your terms.

shinyblackgrape · 19/05/2012 20:27

westwinger - they sound absolutely horrible. I'm sorry Thanks

kirrinIsland · 19/05/2012 20:34

westwinger that does sound mean :(

Shelly my date was also brought forward at my scan and I know it's wrong, but I guess it's only a guide?

blonderthanred · 19/05/2012 21:14

Hello, everyone. Sorry to hear about West's NCT group, Fran's maternity leave and Izzy's poxed hol. Oh and passme's spotty frock!

Hope everyone is starting to feel better, I have definitely felt less 'hungover' each morning, still tired and emotional but more balanced. And great nails!

I've been at the Baby Show today in Birmingham. Bit early but the Earls Court one isn't till late Oct so we thought we'd go along just to get some ideas, try out a few prams etc and pick up some free stuff!

Of the prams, the one we really liked was the Cosatto Giggle - we didn't order it but there are some good deals online, as good as the show offer. I didn't know anything about the brand before but it was really lightweight and seemed to suit our needs well. The only thing is that the car seat that matches it isn't an isofix one and there aren't adaptors for one that is (yet - their other prams seem to have these so maybe they'll follow). Anyone used the brand or have any thoughts?

We also had good fun trying on slings and trying out reusable nappies - we liked the Pop-in brand best and again good deals available.

We each bought a little present for the baby and bought a gift for a friend but other than that didn't spend anything. Picked up free pens, badges, vouchers and a free gift of baby bottles (planning to bf but you never know) and baby sunglasses (perfect for the November baby).

It was a fun day and I've never seen so many babies - both real and plastic for all the demos!

SwissArmyWife · 19/05/2012 21:25

blonde - Cosatto are a good brand :) I've just bought my DD a cosatto yoga and it's great, lightweight but sturdy too, easy to fold, quite big shopping basket.. Grin
The giggle looks adorable!

WestWinger · 19/05/2012 21:33

Thank you ladies - think it is time to distance myself from that group. I'll stay in touch with my closer friends but will meet them outside the group.

You are all so lovely - appreciate the support.

blonder v envious that you made it to the show - I desperately want to go to one. Think if I do, then I'd better leave the credit cards at home!

passme my Next dress turned up today too. Made my boobs look even bigger than they are and was a bit frumpy on me. Will be going back. I just want a nice light summery maternity dress - can't seem to find any.

ShellyBobbs · 19/05/2012 21:39

kirrinIsland The scan date comment was in reply to Fran saying she needed her scan due date winding back 2 days to qualify for maternity pay :)

Swiss No energy used for shopping, I was sat on my behind the whole time :) The auction has just ended and I didn't win, am quite glad now as I really can't be arsed driving a 320 mile round trip. I haven't even looked at clothes yet as I'm not finding out what I'm having so won't be getting much until afterwards, just a few items of each thing needed, probably all bought when I'm about 37 weeks like last time Grin

ShellyBobbs · 19/05/2012 21:44

West Have you tried a standard maxi dress? That's what I'm planning on, hopefully it will look OK.

WestWinger · 19/05/2012 21:46

No I haven't - good idea! Will have a browse......

blonderthanred · 19/05/2012 21:54

Thanks for the feedback Swiss, good to know.

I've found New Look Maternity to be great so far, might not be weddingy enough but some nicely fitting, comfortable clothes.

Passmethecrisps · 19/05/2012 22:44

blonder there are some lovely things there - the wedding is in woodland so I can go slightly casual. Have bought Boden frocks which are loose fitting round the tummy - should do the job.

westwinger that is exactly what it did to me - it was aweful. I thought you said you had also bought it so I am interested to read that you didn't like it either. I also thought it had white spots.

I love the look of the maxi dress - I would love to see me all gladiator sandled and swishy bohemian. Sadly I am 5ft 2 and I and worried I would end up tripping over on it and looking like I am a child wearing my mum's frock.

izzybizzybuzzybees · 19/05/2012 22:53

I bought this (for my holiday :( ) but I think it'd work for a wedding.....www.newlook.com/shop/maternity/clothing/maternity-black-multi-floral-maxi-dress_251922509

izzybizzybuzzybees · 19/05/2012 22:54

the link again

SwissArmyWife · 20/05/2012 08:01

Maxi dresses are a favourite here, they just flow over all the lumps and bumps (I'm a size 16 so works for me!) But anything with an empire line and loose skirt is great for pregnancy. I tend to find New Look maternity are too baggy around the bump, but maybe that's just me. Usually I just wear normal clothes!

Shelly You have more patience than I do, i'm going to find out the sex so I can start buying all the clothes Grin
Was the same with DD though, I just had to have everything ready for her!
Convinced it's a boy this time...

ShellyBobbs · 20/05/2012 12:14

Swiss I found out with my first but didn't with the other 2, I like it even more now because my hubby is climbing the ceiling because he want's to find out this time and I won't let him :)

TheDetective · 20/05/2012 15:11

I have to tell someone because I just can't keep it in much longer

I'M HAVING A BOY!!!!

He has a possible name. But I'm not telling yet lol! I'm so excited! DS will be over the moon come November! We've already been out and bought some of the lovely clothes I've been eyeing up in Next! Lots of lovely colourful boy stuff!

Oh I'm so happy! I'd of felt the same either way, I'm just happy to know because it all seems so real now!

Oh, and despite my placenta being on the front, those are definite kicks I have been feeling! He's such an active little thing! My baby boy! Grin

There was no mistaking his, um, boy bits. Even at this gestation! I asked the sonographer to let us guess first and we both said 'it's a boy' and she said yes, it is!

Who is next to find out cave in I wonder?!

Cacacaz · 20/05/2012 16:00

Congratulations Detective Grin

We are adamant that we don't want to know, and I'm sure we won't change our minds! Sil has her 20 week scan on Tuesday and she wants to find out, it will be nice to find as she already has a ds.

I have a definate bump now, fil commented on it, saying I seemed to have a bigger bump than sil, even though I am almost a month behind her, but that it must be because I am much skinnier. I think he was choosing his words very carefully as he didn't want me to feel like he was saying I was fat

We have a few names we like, but have decided to keep these to ourselves. The main reason being that everyone and their mother seems to have an opinion on sil name choices and have put her off a few Sad I don't want anyone to do that to us. I have worked with children for the last 12 years, this has caused me to have a hefty list of names that have negative connotations, that I just can't seem to shake.

I bought new bras 3 weeks ago, they are tight already Angry today I am wearing a vest top with hidden bra support and so amazingly comfortable, that I went and bought some more, I can envisage these will also become nightwear.

Lovely sunny day here today and it would seem summer is coming to Scotland Grin

I hope everyone has enjoyed the weekend

WestWinger · 20/05/2012 16:52

Yay detective fantastic news!

DonnaDoon · 20/05/2012 17:46

Lovely news detective

SwissArmyWife · 20/05/2012 18:14

Congrats detective Grin - i'm pretty sure it's a year for boys, and i'm hoping for a boy this time round, will be finding out in 5 weeks, I can't wait!

When is everyone elses 20 week scan?

Cacacaz - I have some of those vest tops too and wear them at night. I only have one bra that fits me properly now so must buy some more this week!
Can't keep up with the changes!

As for names, we have a definite name if it's a boy, but we're not sure about a girls name yet, although if it's a girl i'm sure it will just come to us :)

Oooh it's all so exciting!
