I have to pay back extra if I do not return for at least 12 weeks. I think you will find you have to agree to return for a minimum period in order for them to give you enhanced. I know someone who returned, was signed off sick and stayed off sick until the time was passed and she was able to resign. I personally could not do that.

Chunkychicken · 15/05/2012 16:28

Pretty much the same with me - I do 13wks back to keep the money. It's worth noting too that I negotiated to go back part time & it didn't affect my allowance/eligibility to the extra money. If you have to go back to get the money, is it worth considering part time for the appropriate period?

SootySweepandSue · 15/05/2012 16:53

Hi

Just adding myself again was on hols for a while.

Had my scan last week was 13+2 at the time and I'm certain based on what I saw, with a bit of googling on 13 week scans, that it's another girl. Can't wait till 20 week for confirmation. I have no real preference, but we are skint and have a tiny house which is already full of pink, so it will be easier and cheaper to have a girl :)

Oh and my step MIL has proclaimed we are having a 'Christmas baby' despite a due date of mid-November! What a numpty....

DesperateHousewife21 · 15/05/2012 17:27

Sorry yes I should have said, our hospital does tell you the gender at the 20w scan but I'm too impatient!
I've booked the private scan for 9th June!! Sooo can't wait and we get to see our baby an extra time Grin

GTbaby · 15/05/2012 18:49

Thanks stuntnun. I've actually been avoiding meats as it just tastes awful. Although was ok eating a mcDs hamburgerGrin so maybe more of those will help my iron levels.

Passmethecrisps · 15/05/2012 18:56

chunky Thanks for that - the pain seems to have shifted now so who knows what it was. Pretty nasty at the time but fine now.

westwinger I am so sorry to hear about your MIL - must be terribly hard for you all.

Our health authority refuses to tell the gender so we are still in a dilemma about whether to pay for a private scan. We wouldn't be telling anyone else so in many ways it would be easier to not know at all. I think at the moment I am fine not knowing because I know at 15 weeks I wouldn't be able to tell anyway. Once I get to 16 weeks and it could be possible, I wonder if I will start itching to find out?

As for bump - I think it chunky got it exactly right with her description. Last night I stopped trying to do up the button on my trousers having been in them all day. I was astonished when I saw myself in the mirror before getting into bed - shocking sight. Someone at work today, however, was astonished at how far along I was as I have no bump at all. That made me feel slightly better after last week's 'fat thigh' comment.

My Boden dresses arrived for friend's wedding. True to Boden form they are slightly looser fitting and I think they will be perfect in 3 weeks time. By that stage I might have a wee bump and I think these dresses should show it nicely rather than me looking like a porker. Mind you, I had better stop with the constant eating if I want them still to fit. I am a one woman eating machine.

Oh, and does anyone think they are glowing yet? I am still spotty and desperately waiting for some glow . . .

Thechick · 15/05/2012 19:04

GTbaby I'm exactly the same. Can't eat meat at the moment, it leaves a really strange horrible taste in my mouth and can't eat white bread or oats or couscous or white pasta as they all leave the same horrible taste. But did have a quarter pounder and it was the best thing ever, but did have another one a couple of days later and it left the taste in my mouth again. I'm having real issues with finding things to eat. I didn't have any actual vomiting at all but I have had real issues with what I can and can't eat from about wk 6. I got another letter today with a prescription for iron.

TheDetective · 15/05/2012 19:38

I just got my cot! Made up! Got on eBay, was a bargain! Its the Mothercare Westbury one, sells for £250, got it for £90 and its brand new!

Eeeeeeeeeeeeek! Feels real now!

GT Another can't eat meat on here too! Fine by me though as I only ate chicken and bacon anyway, as was a veggie for 15 years.

Still got food issues too Chick I assume it may last a while yet!

horseylady · 15/05/2012 19:52

I don't eat meat so don't have that issue!! Trousers still ok everything seems ok. Dh laughed as i said I would reassess clothes situation at 20 weeks!! Really hoping I'm like mum who didn't show till about 8 months!! Were finding out gender but at 20 week nhs scan. Dh will prob pay if we can't find out. I'm not worried. I think it's a boy based on no other knowledge or anything other than I think that's what it is!!! Hope it likes horses lol

daisychain76 · 15/05/2012 21:50

Another current non-meat eater here. In fact, even the thought of bacon makes me feel queasy whereas normally I'd have been drooling over the thought of a bacon butty. Had waffles with fruit and maple syrup for tea tonight, mmm, it was lovely!

Still no glow yet, but feeling a bit more hopeful it will come eventually....

Little9 · 15/05/2012 22:07

Yay, my car can be fixed!!! And we've booked a holiday to Crete today. We're going next Thursday for 10 days. Feeling good!!!

Welcome to the new ladies, welcome back to the new posters and congratulations to everyone with good scans.

Sorry to Westwinger - my best wishes are with you and your family.

We're not going to find out the sex. We want it to be a surprise.

Take care ladies, think I will acutally be able to sleep properly tonight!

TheDetective · 15/05/2012 22:57

Excellent news Little!

I'm so tired right now, and I am up at 5am for work. However, due to terrible traffic, then prebooked cinema tickets, and a disaster with forgetting to turn the cooker on Blush we haven't yet had tea. And I refused to relent with a takeaway. So veggie sausage and mash is currently cooking. How ridiculous Grin.

It better hurry, because I'm about to eat the cat or the carpet or something.

Bump is definitely bump by the way! Weighed myself earlier, and have not changed weight from 10 weeks when I was -4kg from booking weight!

I'm feeling like a proper pregnant person now!

kirrinIsland · 15/05/2012 23:20

Sorry to hear that westwinger :(

I'm having an NHS scan next week, when I'll be 16+1, so hopefully they'll be able to tell me the sex then. They did with DD.

Good news about the car little

My sickness seems to be easing off, and I can eat pretty much what I like again, but I'm still eating every 5 minutes - if I don't stop soon I'll be the size of a house before too long...

DesperateHousewife21 · 16/05/2012 08:23

Morning all thought if let you all know that mamas and papas have got 50% off all maternity clothes plus free delivery atm. Looking for summer shorts but not much luck but there are some nice things on there.

DesperateHousewife21 · 16/05/2012 08:41

Oh not all mat clothes but quite alot of them!

WaitingForMe · 16/05/2012 08:58

Thanks DH!

I am either being super smart or have lost my mind. I'm currently a freelance copywriter and it's going well. So well I'm starting an agency where I focus on getting clients and I outsource the writing (I know lots of writers who lack my confidence/contacts). I'm crazy busy now but hopefully will be able to keep working with a newborn as I'll be doing very short bursts rather than sitting for four hour stretches. Good in theory but who starts something like this at 14 weeks? Confused

As a positive it's helping take my mind off symptoms. Apparently this week it's normal to feel mild discomfort in the groin - ah so that's why I feel like I'm being punched there. Seriously, my pregnancy book underestimates EVERYTHING!

Got a teeny bump though Grin

Iheartpasties · 16/05/2012 09:32

Hi ladies,

I have fianlly got myself a booking in appointment wuth a midwife, it's next tuesday, yey, so excited. I will be exactly 16 weeks so thats great. I was aiming to go in and see them at 16 weeks, its the dine thing here (down under) apparently. Yippee cant wait to hear the heart beat!!

DesperateHousewife21 · 16/05/2012 09:43

My 16 week mw app was booked before I had my scan do it's going on my old dates so my app is when I'll actually be 14+6 Confused hope that doesn't ruin my chances of hearing the heartbeat.

On a v good note tho, ive just had to ring and change my 20w scan because they'd booked it when I'm on hol and I'm now having it a day before I go! So glad it's before the hol and not after.

horseylady · 16/05/2012 10:15

It's my 16 week appointment today. No idea what well talk about or what they'll do. I meant to look at my stuff but forgot, then I rode last night and played with the dogs. Then I worked flat out this morning, I'm on a quick break, into meetings which I'll leave and go straight to my appointment....

shanelle5 · 16/05/2012 10:21

Hi ladies, dont manage to post too much but do always read the thread and love seeing everyones news! On the subject of bumps or no bumps, I have been looking at this website on a weekly basis with photos of various ladies with their bellys out at week by week intervals and its really helped me be less paranoid about having such a large bump at only 15 weeks.

Hope the link works! pregnantphoto.blogspot.co.uk/

hope to find out the sex of my Bubba at the 20 week scan which isnt for me until 21 weeks Grrr but am desperate to know as I have 4 Girls so obviously REALLY hoping for a blue one this time!

Thechick · 16/05/2012 10:56

I don't get my 20 week scan until 22 weeks. But I do get a 32 week scan also. My midwife says its a new thing thats just come in. Not sure if its a London thing or a Lambeth thing. Any of you guys having one too??

ValiumQueen · 16/05/2012 11:15

I will have a scan at 34 weeks due to my old age and fatness. I told DH this morning that I am finishing early with this one, and taking a full year with Annual leave beforehand, as I just do not want to be at work. He said yes. I plan to finish work and go onto A/L end of July! I will have a 5yo and a 2yo to look after, so will not be total laziness Grin

kirrinIsland · 16/05/2012 11:18

shanelle I've got a large bump at 15 weeks too - there's a girl at work who's 20 weeks and I'm bigger than her. I'm starting to get a bit paranoid , just how big am I going to be by the end!?

ShellyBobbs · 16/05/2012 11:39

ValiumQueen Unfortunately I'm not 6 months, I'm only 14 weeks but just LOOK 6 months lol.

Waiting I don't think It's a daft idea to be starting up at 14 weeks, we are all pondering work at the moment so it's really an ideal time. I'm trying my very best to give my little venture a shove in the right direction so that I can tell my work bye bye in October. Unfortunately I have to go back for 6 months if I take any maternity pay at all, so I am really hoping I can give it a go. Maybe we should start a thread about work ideas for the brave? Grin

Oh and the groin pain, ouchies! I feel like I'm carrying an elephant and all the weight is on my groin. And I'm going through panyliners like I don't know what, I'm never off the toilet now and it's making it really difficult at work (in the community).

Shanelle The link didn't work, I'll repost it

Preggie photos

We went to Hard Rock Cafe on Monday night for my daughters birthday (and so we could see the City parade through Manchester), I amazed everyone by totally demolishing a HUGE veggie burger and fries in record time, then cleaning out a bowl of HOT sauce without blinking! I think I'm turning into an animal.

ShellyBobbs · 16/05/2012 11:47

Well looking at those photos I'm about right allowing for the lard!

Forgot to say, I went shopping for an non-underwired bra yesterday and didn't have much look, they were all disgusting granny bras. I did find some vest tops with added crop top support built in at Primark, and the best thing was they were only £2.50 each!

Ohhh and I'm bidding for a pram on ebay, that's hubby's fault, he's really enthusiastic about it all, but I wanted to bide my time until after the 20 week scan.
