Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hi all

I know what everyone means about tiredness. I was so exhausted by the end of Wednesday that I developed a thumping headache (one of those where every step you take reverberates in your head) and I had to have Thursday off to recover. I'm seeing occupational health this week and will be asking to be put on restricted hours as I can't funcation (restricted hours being 9 to 5 at my place!).

It is my birthday today and I am off to see the Avengers and then to Chiquitos for a fajita. Perfect.

I am having my fourth scan on Thursday (at 14+2). There should be no problem as I had one at 11+6 which was my unofficial 12 week scan, and all was well, but I am still so so so paranoid. I keep wondering if I should cancel the 14+2 scan just to alleviate the pressure, but I will only end up worrying anyway...

The ILs were told yesterday, so now it is all properly official. Eeep!

Iheartpasties · 07/05/2012 11:42

Hi,

Good luck with your scan tiago

I keep saying 'I can't belive there is a baby in there' and looking at my belly, it's like it's really sinking in now. The csan showed a tiny little baby and it's so amazing, we could see fingers and everything! So amazingly clear.

Have added myself. We're having a very boring day sorting out money and finances having had a busy couple of days choosing kitchens and floors, visiting cousins and then having my m+d to visit. They've offered to buy the buggy which is great - it was the one thing we were going to spend a bit of money on - we're going to try and borrow or get given as much other stuff as possible.

Happy birthday tiago, welcome to the newbies and congrats to you, and hope the rest of you are having a nice bank holiday weekend.

Hello all.

Been for curry and checked out maternity jeans in town. Pretty poor selection - think I'll go for Next online. I do nt have and never will have skinny legs for skinny jeans. I checked out New Look - pretty tops but I did come across a pair of maternity hot pants - made me laugh out loud. Noone needs to see that!

StuntNun · 07/05/2012 15:40

If anyone's feeling bored please comment on my baby name shortlist www.mumsnet.com/Talk/baby_names/1467306-StuntNuns-baby-name-shortlist

It's not actually a shortlist, more of a first pass around. Our DS1 was named before he was even conceived; I woke up and said I had a dream that we had two children called Conor William and Rhiannon Catherine and DH liked Conor William so much that we used it. With DS2 however we couldn't agree between James (DH's middle name) and Blake (my grandma's maiden name) and eventually settled on Dylan Blake six weeks after he was born.

So I don't want to have a nameless child this time. I don't think DH realises you have to think through names and try them out, I think he's assuming a name will just come to the child like a bolt from the blue. The other problem is we've used all the obvious family names (William and Blake) already. The only other one I can think of is Tryphena and I'm not going anywhere near that one, even for a middle name.

Singing four days to scan, four days to scan, only four fewkin' days until I get my scan.

Can you tell that I can't wait? Grin

DH and I are going to the scan first thing on Friday then we both have to go in to work so I'm hoping we'll get at least one scan pic to take in. I've already picked out my tightest shirt so I can shamelessly flaunt my bump. Only three more days of wearing my baggiest tops to work.

Then in the evening we're taking DS1 and DS2 to Pizza Express for dinner and I have a present for them. DS2's is a t-shirt saying 'I've been promoted to Big Brother!' with a picture of Pooh and Piglet. DS1's is a t-shirt saying 'I've been promoted to Bigger Brother (which means I'm in charge!)' with a picture of Tigger, Pooh and Piglet. I just got some t-shirt transfer paper and printed them at home today then wrapped them both up. Then we're going to go to Build-A-Bear for the boys to choose a teddy for the new baby.

I think DS2 (5yo) is going to be really pleased to be a big brother but DS1 (9yo) is a bit older and wiser and won't be so chuffed at having to share the parental attention with another younger sibling.

And then we're legit and the world will know apart from the million people that my mum has already told.

Sounds great Stuntnun I am v jealous things are getting planned out and your scan is so close - mine is still OVER a feckin' WEEK away grrrr. Feel like I can't make plans, legitimately buy anything etc as we don't actually know what's going on in there, although I've out on 3.5kg & feel pregnant iykwim.

Going to do a bit of online window shopping this afternoon :)

DesperateHousewife21 · 07/05/2012 16:27

stuntnun your ds2 has the same first name as my ds :)

Only 4 days for me toooooo!!

StuntNun · 07/05/2012 16:55

It's a great name, mine's either named after a character on Neighbours or a character on the Magic Roundabout. Not sure which!

OP posts:
kirrinIsland · 07/05/2012 17:08

Magic roundabout's brilliant stuntnun stick with that :)

Chunkychicken · 07/05/2012 17:42

I have realised how much easier it was to be pregnant over the winter and when working full time. 3 pairs of maternity work trousers, jeans, leggings, a few different tops of varying styles and smartness and a couple of dresses, and I was sorted. I have looked on a number of websites and almost cried... I mean, £45 for a denim skirt I might wear a couple of times in ooooh 6 wks??!!! Seriously????!!! A maternity playsuit or jumpsuit from Mothercare? What are they thinking?? Clearly targetting the younger/trendier market than me, but where do older, frumpier people shop then if even Mothercare is trendy??? Angry

StuntNun · 07/05/2012 18:00

Right Kirren so I have to choose from Brian, Ermintrude, Florence or, um Zebedee!

Actually my granny's name was Florence but as she hated it (everyone called her Floss or Flossie) it's not on my list!

Ok, maybe not Brian! But Zebedee is pretty likely to be the only one in his class!

chunky Dottie P had a maternity sale rack when I went in today - nothing too exciting, but some nice jeans and plain black trousers, and some lovely tops - bit limited on sizes though, but might be worth a look

Chunkychicken · 07/05/2012 19:11

Thanks kirrin I have dotty p jeans & black work trousers from first time around (although thankfully still way too small for those) and plenty of tops - a variety of shirts & t-shirts that I can layer up or not. I was just hoping for some smart-ish skirts, cropped trousers, maybe a denim skirt that would do for when the weather warms up. In my experience, if you wait for when you actually need the warm weather clothes to go shopping, the shops are geared up for autumn-winter already!! Hate clothes shopping at the best of times, being both short (but long legged so petit tends to be too short) & I used to have a 8-10 waist & 10-12 hips. Elastic waisted granny trousers are clearly the way forward then Hmm Thanks though kirrin!!!

ShellyBobbs · 07/05/2012 19:35

For all the oldies that don't want hipster mat jeans and hot pants, just go on ebay. I've just got a massive hoard of stuff, over the bump work pants, jeans, loads of tops etc and have only spent about £40 inc delivery and that includes all t-shirts I will need for summer, a dress and dressy tops incase I ever go out again!

God I'm feeling SO tired still, really, really tired. When does this exhaustion end, I just can't remember...........

Am eating like a cavewoman now, when I'm hungry, I have to eat there and then. I've even taken to keeping loads of snacky sugary goodies in the car and taking butties with me too, I have never ever eaten this much in my life, even my past pregnancies. The weird thing is, I still haven't put on any weight which just goes to show how much crap I must have eaten before (still off the chocolate).

Good luck with any scans tomorrow ladies and hope :)

StuntNun · 07/05/2012 19:52

ShellyBobbs I'm finding chocolate and tea are making a tentative comeback at 13+4 weeks. I had a Crunchie and a cup of tea for breakfast this morning - heaven!

OP posts:
WestWinger · 07/05/2012 20:21

Oh, Stuntnun, what did you go and say that for?? Now I HAVE to have a Crunchie. And I mean now!!

ShellyBobbs · 07/05/2012 20:25

I can't wait until I'm back on the tea waggon, I've only had 2 brews today, I used to drink tons before. I've got a curry in the fridge that I'm planning to eat after the morning school run tomorrow :) I love the things you can do when you're pregnant and just look at everyone else like they are VERY strange.

Hubby went shopping the other day and before he went I was having a strop because there was no crisps and I needed to eat some there and then. When he got back he threw a 6 pack at me, I just looked at him and said I was over the crisps thing, but he'd better have bought some thick sliced white Warburton's bread because I wanted lemon curd on toast NOW (he didn't :( but came home from work with some today YAY and YUM)

Passmethecrisps · 07/05/2012 20:35

The tips for mat wear are useful. I still have no bump but my once relatively flat stomach is now quite bulgy (thank you endless eating) and my trousers make my tummy hurt.

I have a couple of dresses from Boden which have a lot of material on the front so I think they may well do me until the summer hols. The issue really is trousers. My good, sturdy legs are getting sturdier by the day.

Evilwater · 07/05/2012 20:40

Just checking in,
For those that are having trouble with clothes, I've picked up a bump band. It's fantasic, a piece of elastic cloth that goes over your trousers. This helps to keep them up, and covers bump. Brilliant.

Work was ok, but I still had to wash everyone, and do all the beds on my own again. It was very Angry when they said "oh have you done my patient x?" at 1500, when they were playing with there phones and I was busy cleaning up vomit. Sometimes I just want to scream I'm three months pregnant! WTF!!
At least I've passed my level 2. :)
