Apparently nausea eases off between 14-16 weeks. Oh goody. Only another 2 weeks to go.......

NervousAt20 · 06/05/2012 12:42

Fingers crossed for us all then westwinger
I'm 14 weeks today Grin

applepieinthesky · 06/05/2012 12:43

Good weather? Where? Yet more rain where I am.

Chunkychicken · 06/05/2012 13:32

Rain, rain go away, come again... in a few months.Grin

Have found we've been given £8.5k in our joint a/c from working/child tax credits, despite not applying & def not being entitled. Can't do shit about it being a bank holiday weekend too. Angry

Def found I wanted tea again at about 14wks with DD so here's hoping. Feeling ok today but it varies so much from day to day, I could be death-warmed-up again tomorrow.

NervousAt20 · 06/05/2012 13:56

Sunshine in Coventry in the west midlands so hopefully it sticks all day :)

ValiumQueen · 06/05/2012 14:00

Wow Chunky how very annoying having money you have to give back. Tax credit system is a joke isn't it!

DesperateHousewife21 · 06/05/2012 15:09

Feeling slightly better this afternoon still have a sore throat. Managed to get round tesco and am going to enjoy SMILs cooking tonight- yum!
Thanks for everyones well wishes, makes it seem bearable and it's more I got from dh Hmm

Chunkychicken · 06/05/2012 15:11

Indeed Valium - the worry is that a) they will def want it back as soon as they ask, so have to be careful not to accidentally spend a penny (but as its in the joint a/c we can't 'ringfence' it) and b) that someone dodgy is using our a/c for nefarious purposes. Plus, DH works for civil service so if we even looked like we were trying to keep it, he could get into big trouble. It is a bloody stupid system. Don't want to get our a/c frozen either, when in the process of buying a new house. The money could come in v handy with a new house & a new baby too...Hmm

applepieinthesky · 06/05/2012 16:23

Glad to hear you are feeling better DH

That sucks chunky. Having that money sitting there and knowing you can't spend a penny of it.

I feel awful today, I've been sick again. It always seems to be on a sunday that I'm ill. How odd. I was hoping that because I was 12 weeks on friday the sickness would magically stop overnight Grin Oh well.

nebbo · 06/05/2012 17:02

Hi girls

Hope you and bumps are all well, there's no denying I'm preg now as I'm huge!

We decided to sit and have a think about what we need to do before the babies arrive. The list is huge!!!!! Not just with baby stuff, getting a new car and the house ready too.

We went and looked around mothercare the other day and fancy getting cot beds but even with that decision made the choice is endless. I thought the one we saw for £300 was good value considering the car seats in there were around £160 but now I'm not so sure as my friend said she got one in John Lewis sale for £150, a price I much prefer. I don't want to start looking at car seats or prams yet as it all seems like a lot of hard work. I do know what iso fix is now though!!

I need a fairy to come and make my decisions.

Chunkychicken · 06/05/2012 17:34

Definitely shop around for cots & cot beds nebbo & its worth considering second hand. A new mattress & they're fine. We got my DD's cot bed for £40 and I think its a mamas & papas one, or cosatto or something, and in pretty good nick. I wanted a drop sided one being a short arse & it was def worth getting.

We also had lots to do - new carpets throughout, that kind of thing, but a due date kind of focusses the OH's mind Wink

applepieinthesky · 06/05/2012 17:50

I've been considering getting a second hand one as well with a new mattress. There are quite a lot about in excellent condition and a fraction of the price of a new one.

daisychain76 · 06/05/2012 19:49

I am going for a basic Ikea cot this time - we had a cot bed from Babies r us with DS but in the end decided it was too much faffing converting the cot and ended up getting him a separate bed anyway (actually, I think part of it was the toddler beds at Ikea were just so cute).

My brother and sil-to-be came round today to tell me that the wedding they were planning for next May is now going to be September. So I will be waddling down the aisle as a bridesmaid at 33 weeks! She has already bought me a dress too, which only just fits now, so I am going to have to try and not put on too much weight. Saying that, my BMI was down from 28 to 26.5 at the scan, so all this feeling sick is having one good effect.

DesperateHousewife21 · 06/05/2012 19:51

Yeah the one we had for ds was second hand from my SIL, we got a new mattress for it (then ds decided not to even spend one bloody night in it Hmm)

He had a second hand car seat and the car seat he's in now (stage 1 I think where they face forward) was £16 from eBay.
Well worth getting second hand when you can.

TheDetective · 06/05/2012 19:57

Nebbo I'm stalking eBay for my cot bed at the minute. I have seen a few times people selling 2 of the same cot beds, as they have had twins. So you might get a bargain on there?!

I can't bear to spend over £80 on one, but I have specific wants, so I just keep a close eye on eBay!

We don't have much to do sadly, other than buy for the baby, and get saving! I need things to keep me occupied!

Feeling very good today, did my first dog walk in 3 months, and DP got his first -pity shag last night.

Mega crazy day on the PN ward (one for you Nebbo!) with a hell of a lot of women, and only 2 midwives :( Despite leaving a near empty ward just 10 hours earlier! That full moon had a LOT to answer for! But you know what, it took my mind off the nausea, and I just got on with what I had to do. Then when I finished, I actually felt good, despite only having 3 pieces of cucumber and a slice of tomato in the whole day!

And no one moaned at me once for their discharge. Miracles occur!

I am now cooking a load of roast veg, which I can't bloody wait to tuck in to! These meds are doing good stuff. Still have bouts of nausea, but nowhere near as bad as it was.

Tried to have a listen in to baby yesterday, and despite being 14 weeks and a midwife, still can't find my baby's FH properly. Heard kicks and placental sounds, but that's all coz I is too fat. Babys movements are getting stronger by the day. I was rather embarrassed after we DTD last night, because it went absolutely crazy! Poor child!

Hope you are feeling better now DH!

superpenguin · 06/05/2012 21:15

Hello all, haven't posted for a few weeks as been feeling so sick. I can't believe I have missed a whole thread and we're now on the 5th! Anyway I was on the list in one of the earlier threads but it looks like all the people have been lost off the list who aren't posting v frequently!
Anyway, just a quick update to say I had my scan on Tuesday 1st and all is well. :)
Nice to read about all the other happy scan news too.

WestWinger · 06/05/2012 21:20

Great news superpenguin! What's your EDD following your scan?

Add yourself to the new list. I hate feeling so sick - really hoping it goes away soon!

nebbo · 06/05/2012 23:33

Oh I know those days detective I actually read in the news today about some super crazy full moon and thought work must be manic.
How are you finding work?

That's some good thinking to on the second hand, that could really cut some costs. My family are being great though. My dad wants to buy us a buggy and my nan has just come out with wanting to buy us a tumble dryer!! I'm made up with those gifts, both big things that we really need.

Evilwater · 07/05/2012 06:11

Well I saw the avengers, it was a good action film with lots of humour. Not much plot, and I wouldn't pay for the 3d.

Well I'm off to work soon :(, I also had a closer look at my payslip and Im missing night pay! Is anyone else counting down to mat leave? I can't wait to get away from work.

Yesterday I was tired, I awoke at 1430, and then sat on the sofa. No one said how tired I would be.

I also had a headache for two days now, so I'm going to book my self into the most expensive eye test seeing we can get it for free.

Evil

DesperateHousewife21 · 07/05/2012 08:38

Iheartpasties · 07/05/2012 08:55

Hi,

I haven't been around for about a month because I went abroad on holidays and I am only just getting over the jet lag! My 13 month old DD has been terrible with jet lag, but never mind we're much better today (horay!). I have missed about three threads worth of chit chat from everyone!!

I had my 12 week scan today and everything was fine! Yippee. I was so panicked about it and stressed out last week. Argh! I am so relieved. My due date is 6th Nov, so i was actually 13 weeks and 6 days today, it feels good to have sort of skipped a week ahead! I had no idea when my last period was so I had to just go off the conception date and the 8 week scan put me back a week, well anyway i got that week back today!!

Sorry just rambling now, just wanted to get back onto this thread and share everything with you all!
x

Iheartpasties · 07/05/2012 08:56

I'm down under by the way so of course I'm 9 hours ahead of you lovely ladies, but I am British so it feels nice to be on this thread :)

blonderthanred · 07/05/2012 09:46

Yay pasties I am 6 Nov too! Well done on great scan news.

Chunkychicken · 07/05/2012 09:47

Good news Superpenguin & IHeartPasties :)

I did get a bit Confused IHeart as its bank holiday here, so it would be urgent/unusual to have a scan today iyswim Grin

12wks today, that is all Grin

applepieinthesky · 07/05/2012 10:36

Yay chunky

I feel good today. Have actually been doing some housework for the first time in a while. DP will be pleased when he gets home. He has a tougher job than me and has been coming home and cleaning and doing the dog walks. He's been a lifesaver.
