So I POAS and oh, wow, it's positive!
From my online calculating, that puts the due date at Jan 20th, ish, 2013.

This will be my second, DS is currently 20 months old.

I'm so exciiiiiiiiiiited and I can't tell anyone yet! Also, I am looking for a new job and we're talking about buying a house. Crazy, moi?

Mummypud - dont think its all bad news, with DS1 i had a week of bleeding at 4 weeks, before i even knew i was pregnant, i even used tampons cos i just thought it was a period (sorry TMI but want to show that it was red, heavy etc) I also then had more spotting a few weeks later and DS1 is now 23 months.

Had my scan date through - 29 June. Am having nuchal screening, and that date puts me after 13 weeks. Isn't that a bit late? Do you think it's worth phoning and asking if there's any chance of an earlier appointment?

you can have that scan up to 13 weeks and 6 days, so if you are certain of your dates then you should be fine. that said you could ring and ask if they have a cancellations list assuming you can leave work quickly, as we all know people sometimes no longer need scans by 12 weeks so you may find they can move you forward.

Thanks pmgkt. I think I will try to get a cancellation (and try not to dwell on the possible reasons for one being available). Whilst I'm pretty sure (within a day or two) of the date of my LMP, we only had unprotected sex once, and that was the day after my period finished, so unless the swimmers hung around for 10 days or so, there's no way I can have ovulated the text book 14 days after LMP, so it concerns me that I'm at least a few days further on than has been thus far calculated, if that makes sense? Does cycle length make any difference to these things? I should know by now, what with it being number 3

Yes cycle length does change ur dates. My doc told me that a lot of the time no 2 months are the same as in exactly how long ur cycle is and when u ovulated. So all those factors change how many weeks u are. And like u said it would seem u didn't ov at wot would be the average time in a persons cycle.
If it is too late ask if there's maybe something else they could do since u really did want the nuchal, maybe they can do it a diff way or something so u can still find out the risk

I went for an early scan this evening - was surprised by how hard the consultant jammed the probe into my abdomen! Anyway, baby all fine, estimate 8 + 5 but he said accurate date will be at the 12 week scan. I heard the heartbeat too - so fast!
However feel curiously detached and unemotional. Strange? Still feels surreal, like it's happening to someone else.

Ha ha they aren't delicate are they, you almost feel like asking them to be careful there's a baby in there. Glad it went well but I know what you mean about being detached. I think bump and movement is a better bonder but I wasn't a typical girly approach to the bump but that changes the second its born. How was your other half

Other half is away on holiday so I texted him a photo....wasn't sure what his reaction would be as he wasn't exactly overjoyed when I found out...but he was quite excited I think.

Congrats to everyone on their scans. I have just got my scan date, managed to have it moved forward so I will be 11 +6 so very very excited!!! They tried to offer me a scan on Friday 13th of July. I bet that date is NOT popular .

I really hope it will all seem a bit more real once I have had my scan but I suppose we will have to wait and see.

Early scan showed empty sac going back in a wk to rescan. I thought I was 7wks 5days..they think 5/6wks so maybe I'm just early I'm very worried

Squealy how did you persuade them to change the date? I called to change mine and no chance, they wouldn't budge. Even when I burst into tears on the mw on the phone

Gutted. I need to know everything is ok, and I'm currently hiding the pregnancy from my 8yo and it's getting difficult. I feel so sad that they won't help. I asked to be put on a cancellation list to be told that they don't do that Can't afford a private scan so have to suck it up. And wait another 2.5 weeks.

Mw did agree that I could well be further along than 13+1, but still wouldn't change it. Feel utterly fobbed off and fucked off.

cockadoodle sorry to hear you are having such a nightmare! My scan was originally booked for 16 July and I (like you) did not want to wait that long. I called them and was just straight forward and polite but persistent. I told them that 16 July was simply not an option due to work commitments (little white lie ) and that as I wanted a Nuchal scan it needed to between 11 and 13 weeks so it would have to be earlier. They said they would check what they could do and call me back. TBH I probably just got lucky and the had the space. If they did not I am sure they would have been more difficult.

I guess you could explain that this will impact on your level of care due to Nuchal scan etc. and if they still refuse ask to speak to the head of the unit or say, can I call daily to check whether or not there is space (they will be terrified of you being massive pain in the arse so may just give in). If you are not feeling very assertibve maybe you get can your GP, DP or a friend to call on your behalf.

just to clarify, it was on the call back they offered Friday the 13th and I just laughed and made the Omen type jokes to politely refuse that date!!

I have my scan date which is 18 July. I called the EPU today though. The bleeding has eased off but there was some red blood on Friday and I'm cramping slightly. They said I can go in and self refer so I'm going to go tomorrow and hope I can get a scan this week.

I cant believe they have been so stubborn about changing the dates for you all! I just rang this morning and said i work on Thursdays and can only go in tues/weds they gave me a choice of three .... could just be cos that particular has had bad press recently and have had to make some swift changes. But honestly I dont see why your people are being so difficult.. its not exactly fair that they pluck a date out the air and expect u to be ok about it.

Terrified - the girl who sits next to me is all swollen. Her doc just said he thinks it might be mumps. Cue complete freak out and tears at work. What is she doing here if she might have a contagious disease??

Plus I've just fallen out with my mum. Asked her to stop nagging me about is doing our garden. She is deeply hurt and offended apparently but I can't take it. I'm 8 weeks pregnant and haven't told her. Feel I can't cope with anything at the moment sorry for the moan

Dh has booked a private dating scan for Saturday I had a bit of a meltdown on the phone to him earlier on and he's sorted it. We can't really afford it but he reckons it's the sort of emergency credit cards were invented for. If that tallies with my dates then I shall graciously accept the nuchal date of 29 June, if not I shall phone the hospital again and ask them to change it.

lazy sounds awful. Do you mean she came in after her doc said it might be mumps? Or she was there looking puffy then went off to the docs? Either way I can understand you being upset/pissed off. Have you had the MMR or similar? Your mum will come round too, once she knows, I'm sure x

Hello all, please may i join? Im due early Jan :)
Its been a real strange pregnancy for me if Im honest as in Feb I had a missed miscarriage at 13wks, baby had died at 7 (first pregnancy) I was very, very lucky to get pregnant again quickly after, but as you can imagine Im having a bit of a meltdown waiting for my scan to check all is well. I also really just want to get happy and excited about this very much loved and wished for baby!! Dont think my brain is letting me yet as Im so nervous but hopefully come 20th June when I have my scan i will be able to start celebrating!! i paid for a private scan at 7 weeks, and all was good then so fingers crossed next time I will be able to see an actual baby rather than a flashing blob lol!
So if you all dont mind i will hover around for a bit, its good to hear about people that are at the same stage as you...I am clueless as to whats normal, or what I should be expecting.....at the moment its all puking, falling asleep and being full of gas!! The glamour! :)
I also cant believe I could give birth so close to christmas, im a Christmas Eve baby and have always told my parents off for their poor family planning lol whoopsie! Love and best wishes to you all x

Hi again everyone - i've been off the board for a couple of weeks digesting the news of the twins and taking it easy and been on holiday too! So just catching up with everything. The shock still hasn't sunk in and its even harder to keep it a secret now! Plus i look about 15 weeks already - am in mat clothes and have the worst sickness ever :(

So upset and sorry to hear of the people who have had to drop off and I hope mummypud is ok. Bleeding isn't always bad news so am keeping everything crossed for you.

cock am pleased you have a private scan booked, thats really reassuring and your DH is right - thats what credit cards are for!!

I've just added myself to the list as i seem to have dropped off. I have another scan on Monday 18th when i think i'll be 10+4 and then I have to have a scan every 2 weeks from then to monitor the twins are getting the same amount of blood from the placenta (one placenta) so i'm going to have to tell work sooner than I was hoping!!

Is anyone else feeling short of breath? I feel as if I've suddenly become extremely unfit and getting breathless if I only minimally exert myself.

I've just been for my booking in appointment with the midwife who is very nice...but she was fairly unequivocal in saying that no, it is not possible to have an elective c section on the nhs. I thought NICE guidelines said that women now had a choice. Seems not.....
