Congrats on your little girl vintage great weight!!

C'mon babyFliss and babyEmsgale engage, engage!!

Good luck spanner

Ds2 has been a little star today. Feeding a bit too aggressively - but think we've sorted out latch. Now milk has come in he's going more than 1 hour between feeds which is brill.

spannermary · 13/04/2012 19:04

Hello all! Chilling on hospital bed. Had a bp pill (now 134:68 - much better) & will have it taken every 4h. Bizarre dinner of shepherds pie & jacket potato. Nicely balanced!

Feeling much more hopeful - if they can control bp there'll be less pressure on me to be induced, as less of a medical reason, so keep your fingers crossed! I know I may still have to, if bp stays up, but would rather not - even if it means another few days of this rash. Keep reminding yourself that, Spanner!

Sweep unpleasant but just about bearable: baby 'nice and low' and cervix 'nice and soft' (whatever they mean by that!) but still closed.

Thank you for all your lovely comments. You guys really are a tonic.

Bunsouttheoven · 13/04/2012 19:26

Congratulations vintage well done on your little (big) girl

Oh spanner hope bp lowers & nature can take it's, yes aren't hospital meals interesting.

Don't blame all you overduers for wearing your whingy pants (fliss' words, not mine) Wink I would too. I on the other hand have my sobbing at pants on. My milk came today & the tears too.

Hope those babies come soon, also my dcs 1&2 never engaged until labour started.

Flisspaps · 13/04/2012 20:05

I believe the phrase was 'huge, pregnant, whingy pants' Grin

Still uncomfortable this evening, but still holding out no hope of this being the beginning of the end (or the end of the beginning!) - random short periods of intense pressure which going for a wee isn't relieving, I was getting periody aches earlier but took 2 paracetamol about 2 hours ago so now I don't know if the cause of the aching has gone, or if the paracetamol has just masked the ache! I did consider having a bath, but then if this is the start, I don't want to get in the bath and halt proceedings!

Going to see how I feel in a couple of hours (perfectly normal, I imagine).

And in the meantime, I'm going to eat chocolate and chilli (it is Friday, after all, but not together, dark chocolate goes nicely in a chilli but a bag of chocolate mis-shapes does not) and watch crap telly. Really fancy an ice cold beer too, but have none in the house, have had two already this week and DH is in the bath so can't send him out for any :(

newmummyvicky · 13/04/2012 20:34

Hi ive uploaded pictures of baby lyra on my profile :-)

Sounds like the start of something flisspaps
how many day over are you????

Congrats to all the new mums ive miss and good luck to nordic with your trip Thanks
I cant beleive my little one is now 10 days old, im still breast feeding but have cracked nipple and they are sore. i think i have her latched on, but was told at the hospital she is slightly tonge tide.
Still a bit achey down below, does anyone know when stiches disapear? they may gone already? i only had one.

looking forward to the rest of the babies coming... speak soon x

spannermary · 13/04/2012 20:37

So post-sweep baby starts wiggling like mad. The start of something, perhaps? Nope: just the little man flipping himself back to back again having been in a prime position this afternoon! Bugger!

Flisspaps · 13/04/2012 20:57

newmummyvicky 9 days...well, I say that.

My dating scan was at what I thought was 15+4. The measurements came out at 15+4, 16w and 17w. The scan midwife (wasn't a sonographer) put my date down as 17w, and we've had to work to that date on all the official stuff since. But by my LMP - AND by one of the measurements at the scan - I'm not even at my EDD until tomorrow. I told the MW when I got there that I thought I was 15+4, she pulled a catsbummouth at me having refused the standard booking in bloods and having 'homebirth against medical advice' scrawled across my file in red pen, so I've always wondered if choosing the 17w measurement as the standard (rather than confirming the date I thought I was) was some sort of two-fingers-up-at-an-awkward-pregnant-woman IYKWIM?

So I could be sitting here in my huge pregnant whingy pants and not even be at my EDD yet, but then if that's the case then the fundal height measurements would have me measuring 5.5w over at some points instead of 3.5w!

Fortunately, I have told all of our friends and family that my EDD is 14 April, so if DC2 does come tonight/tomorrow, then I shall have my smug face on and will be sticking two fingers back up at the scan MW Grin

My stitches were pretty much gone within a fortnight, and there was a lot of embroidery done down there.

mummylivmade · 13/04/2012 21:40

Congratulations vintage another gorgeous girl!!
Best of luck spanner hopefully not long now.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 13/04/2012 22:53

How weird Fliss, my original EDD was tomorrow too, put forward at my scan. Wonder if we'll both go tomorrow...
Just as the Reds win the semi perhaps... Wink

Think I might send him out for some jaffa cakes in the morning, and you can patent it as a proven induction method if it works Grin

Same as you though, I guessed that the new date must have been right, otherwise I was measuring weeks ahead. My mum keeps telling my midwife that the same happened with my sister (second baby, me being the first) they insisted she had her dates wrong, and she was just a long 9lber, born on the date my mum said she would be Grin

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 13/04/2012 22:54

Oh and congratulations vintage!! :)

Pitmountainpony · 14/04/2012 01:21

Congrats vintage. Great news. Good luck spanner.

spannermary · 14/04/2012 03:03

Been listening to woman in next room labouring for last 3 hours. Awesome.

justhayley · 14/04/2012 03:09

Hiya waters have broken tonight - no contractions as of yet going to try get a few hours sleep as I worked 10 hours Friday and had been asleep for 5 mins when waters went. Going into hospital at 6am to be monitored unless contractions wake me up before then.
Iv started a thread in pregnancy - called there goes my waters, so will keep you updated on that if poss. 38 weeks today totally unprepared but excited lol.

Wish me luck Grin

justhayley · 14/04/2012 03:10

Ps congratulations vintage Grin and anyone else who's had their babies havnt caught up on the thread yet.

Xxxx

Flisspaps · 14/04/2012 04:08

beyond absolutely on the Jaffa cakes, have to wait for Lidl to open!

Woke up at 3.15 with what can only be deemed as a ctx, lasted about 3 minutes Hmm but nothing since (50 minutes) Can't get back to sleep now. Probably a one off Angry Went for a wee, could hear DD moaning, just what I needed. Our house is creaky at the best of times, never mind when a 14stone woman is waddling down a 105 year old hallway having a ctx and busting for a wee. In the dark. Hmm

Good luck spanner and justhayley Grin

Going to try to get some more sleep now.

Flisspaps · 14/04/2012 04:56

Would 3 ctx in an hour and a half make you suspect you were in the early stages of labour Confused

First two an hour apart, 3rd one half an hour later.

I have no idea. DD was induced (not sure if I've mentioned that before WinkGrin) do have nothing to compare it to really, the ctx were fairly regimented at about 6m apart from the start with her. The drip in my hand was a good clue as to the fact that was labour.

40+10, my original EDD and the day DH would rather the baby didn't interrupt his TV viewing. Oh, and as its a Saturday my mum already has a toddler to look after all day, so she may end up with 2 as she's having DD when I need her to!

This can't be it, I'm meant to be arguing over induction with the consultant on Wednesday, ignore me - stand down!

Flisspaps · 14/04/2012 05:56

Hmm...still every 30 mins-ish. 6 ctx so far.

DH is in bed where I have told him to stay until called. DD is in bed where I am hoping she will stay for another hour or so. I've never been keen to get her out of the house before, but now I want her to stay in bed until its reasonable to get her up, dressed and shipped out, so I can go to the loo without trying to sneak about, and get in the bath.

I'm a bit worried that if this isn't it then what will I be like when it actually is? I'm not convinced enough to start my own thread yet Sad

spannermary · 14/04/2012 06:22

Flisspaps it does sound a little like this is nature's way of biting your DH's Liverpudlian sporting marathon in the ass! How exciting!

Ah, just think how thrilled he'll be if the little one is born on Grand National day Wink

Flisspaps · 14/04/2012 06:26

I know spanner - I have pointed out to him that my homebirth plan is now of massive benefit to him as we can set the pool up in the living room so he can watch the race AND the match. That's if this is it. Have just thought I am due a ctx now if they're coming every 30 minutes, only to realise the last one was actually 10 minutes ago so they seem to be speeding up a bit already Confused

This is not it. It can't be. I have however written down the names of the two horses I want to bet on in the race just in case I can't actually tell DH later (Junior, and Always Right in honour of today being the due date I had given everyone based on my original date and my suspicion that I would go over the date from the scan Wink)

How was your night?

mummylivmade · 14/04/2012 06:47

Ooh fliss this all sounds very promising to me!! And in my past experience these babies do love to inconvenience their daddies!! Best of luck!

Bunsouttheoven · 14/04/2012 07:02

Oh fliss I'm excited now (even after about 2hrs broken sleep). How far apart now?

LaTristesse · 14/04/2012 07:16

Oo Fliss, go woman, go! Grin

digitalgirl · 14/04/2012 07:17

Go go fliss!! sounds like how my labour started! Wasn't convinced till they were 10mins apart and really beginning to smart.

Flisspaps · 14/04/2012 07:23

Buns every 10-15 minutes I suppose. Maybe 30s long? Not timing them now really, just sort of glancing at the occasionally and noticing the gap isn't half an hour.

Still not sure this is 'it' simply because I'm so resigned to 40+14. Don't want to take DD to my mum's for nothing and make a fuss for no reason, so if this is it I hope I realise soon so I don't end up giving birth on my own in front of the TV and if it's not then I'd very much like the fake pains to fuck off! Just waiting for DD to surface now and then might get in the bath.

Where have the last 4 hours gone? Confused

spannermary · 14/04/2012 07:36

Junior, and Always Right - love it! Sounds very promising that everything is speeding up - but hey what do I know - I've never done this before! I do think nature has a sense of humour, though - so am sending confident vibes your way!

Night was long, itchy and sporadic, but the labouring lady was moved to a different ward at about 3.30am which made things easier. She was 6cm & established. My Bp has gone up slightly but was okish at 3am. Wonder what it is now? Really hoping I can keep it acceptable so I don't feel pressured into induction.

All the best Fliss!
