Hope everyone's hanging in there, sorry for the overdue-ers. Nearly halfway through the month - you WILL get there!

Congrats uni - great name btw Grin.

Still waddling about as though I'm heavily pg - but hopefully the spd will fade soon! Ds2 is doing v well (wakes a lot for feeding) just waiting for mw to visit and weigh him.

digitalgirl · 12/04/2012 12:51

For those worried about ve's and sweeps - mine didn't hurt at all. Although they were in between contractions, so perhaps it's all relative.

Emsgale · 12/04/2012 14:19

well 40+5 having a sweep tomorrow im really nervous but hey ho im desperate so in for a penny in for a pound!!

iv just had a very nice pedicure so feel relaxed but im sure baby gale is very much staying put no show yet or anything just lots of back ache and braxton hicks and upsett tummy but thats no change from about 38-39 weeks!!

spannermary · 12/04/2012 15:28

All the best, Emsgale - seems like our paths are fairly similar again. I'll let you know how I get on!

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 12/04/2012 15:39

I'm all swept now too, cervix was closed but she said she did manage to get in a little bit. Got another one booked for Saturday too, just in case...

Emsgale · 12/04/2012 16:02

spannermary are you having a sweep tomorriw also?
I was a tad upset that a few of my friends said they had had at least 1-2 sweeps by now and couldnt believe I hadnt been offered one before now?!
also was told at toddler group today that they induce at around 10 days overdue here so id only have to wait another 5 days anyway so surley I should just be patient whats 5 more days!!!!!!!!!!!! :-( I had a few replies in my head but thought I best not!!

spannermary · 12/04/2012 16:19

Emsgale I'm being monitored at hospital tomorrow for my BP and rash and they are probably going to try & sweep me while I'm there - they would have given me one on tuesday as I had a cervical assessment but I wasn't far enough along. So fingers crossed I will be tomorrow! I'm a bit nervous too but trying to stay calm... I just wish my baby was here!

Just got in cool bath to calm my rash and notice my boobs have started producing. Cue excited yell out to DH who is now trying to figure out if he's really excited or a bit freaked out at what he's just achieved by squeezing my nipples! (tmi?)

Is this a sign that things may start? I know some people produce really early so trying not to read too much into it. Wink

notso · 12/04/2012 16:30

Congratulations to Uniphsycle and latetotheAprilparty

Hope all these sweeps are efficient and do the job for you overdue ladies!

I am knackered 'popped' into town with DC and ended up being five freakin hours. Argh! I am not going to town with DC and without moral support until this baby is at least 3 months old!
DD had money burning a hole in her pocket so wanted to look in nearly every clothes shop, but didn't actually buy anything.
DS1 hates shopping so had to be bribed with a look in the library and a lego minifig.
DS2 is hating the pram now he has found his wobberly feet he wants to use them!
I was huffing, puffing and generally waddling round, fending off various "you are massive", "are you sure it's not twins", "your going to have your handsful" or "you need another hobby" type comments!

38+2 today so still achingly long to go, no sign of any early action, just as well as thanks to needy BIL and family we are down our emergency childcare until Weds. They had PIL staying with them all last week and have now come down to stay with PIL meaning our DC couldn't stay there too.

I am going for a lie down now and have a concentrate on peds movements because I don't think I have felt much today, hope it's from the mammoth town waddle.

Flisspaps · 12/04/2012 16:42

spannermary It's a sign that you might have a baby.....sometime!

I've been able to produce colostrum all the way through this pregnancy - I actually started in August 2009 (when pregnant with DD who was born in March 2010 and was only BF for a few weeks) and have noticed that I never stopped producing tiny amounts of milk if I squeezed!

Have had another intense nesting urge today so the house is nice and tidy, have had a few 'ARGH!' moments where it has felt like DC is trying to dig their nails right in to the top of my cervix and climb out It's certainly felt as though there's so much pressure that my waters are going to have to go and there have been times where the only place I can sit comfortably is on the loo (not to go, just to sit!) Still getting more clear snot but nothing bloody and no ctx.

Some good news though, the car passed it's MoT (should bloody think so after it spent last week in the garage!) and we're getting it back now Grin

Bananna1 · 12/04/2012 17:03

Well even though you want to be at home,, I guess it is good that you have your car back just-in-case Fliss :o

I rang the hospital re. the change in baby's movements. As I thought, because I'd felt 10 already she wasn't overly concerned. But she told me to drink a pint of cold water and then lie down and feel for movements. I got over 10 in the next 10 minutes or so, so am sure all is fine. It's just they're so much lighter than they were before, when they really could be quite painful and violent.

Notso I kneel down at your feet in awe - yesterday I went to town with two of my DC and managed an hour 09 minutes (car ticket timed me!). It was hell and I swore that was the last time I was going until after baby. My back, my stomach, my feet, my cervix - everything hurt. So well done you! Hope you managed to doze off and catch some zzzzzs to recover!

Good luck with the sweeps ladies.

Tinwe · 12/04/2012 17:20

Well, today was a mixed day - was startled by baby bump suddenly dropping and stab of pain that I slid on the stairs. Managed to catch myself before I did too much harm but another tutty/worried face from DH set me off weeping (in front of mother in law no less) - then was too red and blotchy to go to toddler group with DD1. I wasn't even that upset, just shocked and feeling a bit stupid...

Baby has now disengaged again

On the bright side our new (second hand) footmuffs and double changing bag arrived and look great and are bargains so that cheered me up. Still feel useless and sore tho!

Good luck all those being swept. Am I the only one on here who has refused a sweep? Keen as I am for Bean to come, from what I've heard I'm not convinced it would work unless labour was imminent anyway and if that's the case it seems a bit pointless? To be honest tho I'm not keen on examinations unless desperately important - maybe I'll feel different at 40+9 and facing induction though.

Emsgale · 12/04/2012 17:39

spannermary iv been leaking for quite a while and I had nothing with dd and didnt get any either so bfeeding was a big fail im bottle feeding this time also just cant face it again!

oh I hope the sweep helps!!! im so desperate for it to be over my body just cant take it!!

Nordicmom · 12/04/2012 17:56

Congrats Late!

Yummymummyyobe1 · 12/04/2012 18:09

Feeling fed up. Baby is pelvis and ready to go why isn't he here yet. He has wriggled all day as much as he can. Come on baby mummy and daddy want to give you cuddles. xx

Flisspaps · 12/04/2012 18:59

Tinwe I refused one last week at 40w. However, at 41w I thought it wasn't going to do any harm, and actually it was a bit of a boost to know that I was 2-3cm now (meaning that if I were to give in to DH and agree to induction post 42w I'd go straight to ARM rather than having the pessary).

I wasn't going to bother at all, but having reached 41w I also thought that I'd rather get to 42w knowing I'd done everything I could before having to see the consultant and start fending off the 'induction chat', rather than getting there and wondering if I'd had a sweep I could have moved things on a day or two and avoided seeing the consultant and having the Talk of Doom altogether IYSWIM?

yummymummyyobe1 When is/was your EDD? I didn't think you were 'due' yet? I can't see you on the list!

Emsgale · 12/04/2012 19:31

flisspaps what does it mean when you say youll go straight to ARM?
I sound so cluless this is my 2nd but I was a week early so had no exsperience of being overdue!!

Flisspaps · 12/04/2012 19:35

Sorry - ARM is Artificial Rupture of Membranes - having the waters broken. At the CLU here if you go for induction and you're 2cm dilated on arrival, they don't give the prostaglandin pessary but break your waters and hope that's enough to get contractions going.

Seems a bit arse about face to me as the pessary can start contractions (which means the cervix can then dilate enough to get the amniohook through!) but if you start contracting well with it, then some hospitals leave your waters intact and let you get on as though you were in spontaneous labour.

Emsgale · 12/04/2012 20:03

oh I see thank you flisdpaps
I feel really emotional completly deflated and shattered today im hoping this will pass!!

justhayley · 12/04/2012 22:34

Hi all,
How is everyone? seems like there's been a lot of sweeps going on - hope that means lots of babies will be arriving tonight Grin

I saw the midwife today - baby is fully engaged now Grin. Had a plus of protein in my urine though but blood pressure is fine & I don't have swelling anywhere so the midwife didn't seem to concerned. She did get me to do a 2nd sample to send off for testing though. Anyone no what they are testing for? Is pre ec the only thing?

Also I think I lost a bit of my plug today - now there's a sentence iv never said before lol
not sure for certain but went to the loo & there was a bit of clear jelly in my underwear - only maybe a 5p size - would this be the start of my plug?

That's my news of the day not very exciting, off to bed now.

Night all
Hayley xx

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 12/04/2012 22:41

Nothing going on here. Well, not nothing, but nothing new!

Have just realised that my midwife has booked my induction or at least appointment to chat about it for 12 days from today (so I would be 40+19!) rather than 40+12!! Will speak to her about it when she comes to do my second sweep on Saturday though (if I do not have a new baby by then...!).

justhayley · 12/04/2012 22:56

40+19!!! Wow surely that's a mistake or are they just very generous with time where you are?
Hopefully it won't come to that and in the next day or two things will start happening x

HollyPockett · 13/04/2012 03:55

Well I'm wide awake and have been since about 1.30 when a whacking great period type pain woke me up. Right across the small of my back as well as front. Have had about 8 more since but nothing more 'painful'

DH is snoring away next to me, the Diva has her bum sticking out as usual and I'm hoping that this might actually be it...

Eeek

I'm also bloody starving but can't quite bring myself to eat at 4am. Trying to dose in case this is the start of labour...

spannermary · 13/04/2012 07:10

Good luck Holly! Any more news?

HollyPockett · 13/04/2012 07:11

Er, doze, not dose Blush

All has gone quiet now, which is bloody annoying as I'd got myself mentally ready. Bah

JambalayaCodfishPie · 13/04/2012 08:15

I was like that Holly on Weds night, and during yesterday. Then it's all calmed down again. Glad I didn't mention it to DP/Family now. Blush

Am just heading to the gym, thinking if things ARE getting going, it'll help, if not it'll pass the time and make me feel better anyway. Grin

Have to remember I'm only 38+5, so shouldn't get my hopes up yet! Smile
