Ooh good luck Holly, sounds like your body is getting ready!

Spanner, not sure if you saw my message on the last thread but I was covered in a horrible itchy rash and used coal tar soap in the shower which cleared it up in a few weeks. The doctor was baffled but its got to be worth a try, its only about 80p.

I'm 9 whole fucking days past my EDD today and nothing! It's so frustrating because I had a sweep on Tuesday which the mw was sure would work as I was already 3cm and waters were bulging but because of bank holidays I couldn't get an appointment for a second sweep so now I have to go to see the consultant on Monday and fend off the induction chat. I'm getting so stressed by it all, I got treated so badly at the hospital when I was giving birth to ds and I'm determined to have a homebirth this time but my doula is only on call until I'm 42 weeks and dh starts his new job tuesday so if baby doesn't make an appearance soon I don't know what to do but worse case scenario is I get induced at the place I'm terrified of with no birth partner and come straight home to take care of my toddler and newborn on my own! Oh shit I don't know what to do!

Flisspaps · 13/04/2012 10:12

cute ditto the +9, fending off chat, planned homebirth, desperation to avoid induction in a hospital that you've had a bad experience in before and having a toddler to deal with after. Perhaps you should have moved in with me, we could have gone to fend off 'the offer' together and DH will take paternity leave, although I'm not sure he can cope with one toddler, never mind two Wink

Come on woman, we CAN do this Grin We've got this far!

spannermary · 13/04/2012 10:21

Thanks, cute, I'll see what I can do. Ridiculously fed up today after feeling quite ok yesterday. Woke up sobbing to DH 'I just want a caesarean now!' terrified of induction, instruments & 3 day labour - all with this awful rash that no one can explain. Sorry. Feeling sorry for myself today. Now where's my inner tigress?

Emsgale · 13/04/2012 10:40

spannermary snap on the feeling sorry for yourself I cried this am just feel so fed up!
what time do you have your check.up today? mines not till 1:55 so I have all morning to dread the sweep!!

spannermary · 13/04/2012 10:49

Oh Emsgale it's rubbish isn't it! Mine's at 1.30 - so pretty similar, although I'll have bp monitoring before so who knows when it'll actually happen! Poor DH doesn't know what to do to make me feel better... Short of cutting me open, neither do I! Hang in there... Smile

Cutelittlecatlover · 13/04/2012 10:55

Thanks Fliss, you're absolutely right of course we can do this we've made actual people!

I'm Blush about my hormone induced mentalness, mad outbursts and crying constantly over stupid things. I just need to get this baby out then sanity can return to the cute household! I keep thinking hormonal = imminent labour but thats probably just wishful thinking.

Emsgale · 13/04/2012 11:44

spannermary well I will report in after my appt!!
chin up I suppose ill say the words I hate hearing not long now surley?!

Cutelittlecatlover · 13/04/2012 11:53

I had a sweep on Tuesday and it wasn't that bad at all. Just remember they will stop if you ask them to . I bled a bit after and was a bit crampy the next day but it wasn't painful. It didn't work but it was encouraging to know I was dilating.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 13/04/2012 13:20

Fliss and cute, I'm moving in too, bringing toddler and bad CLU experiences to the homebirth wannabe party Grin

It only occurred to me last night that I'll be on the CLU on my own if I do get induced, wont even get a shot at the MLU. DH is insisting he will wait in the canteen if he has to (what with already having a quick labour, I'm worried he'll miss it too), but I'm still bloody terrified. Feel like a complete wuss that childbirth doesnt bother me in the slightest but I'm so panicky about another CLU birth and their obsession with hoovering out babies while you lie strapped to the bed disclaimer, dont panic first timers, I do know plenty of people who've had good CLU births, I'm just not to fond of mine and resulting injuries
It's really bothering me :( and I'm sure being so stressed about it is not helping baba come out... :( :(

In other news, nothing after yesterdays sweep, but had the tiniest bit of bloody show last night after taking one for the team Grin

But nothing else since... Hmm

Emsgale · 13/04/2012 14:01

im just waiting to see the midwife im thinking the sweep will probally do diddly squat but hey ho in for a penny in for a pound so they say!?

Yummymummyyobe1 · 13/04/2012 14:02

Good luck to all the mummies who are due/over due and hope baby's come soon. xx

Cutelittlecatlover · 13/04/2012 14:05

Beyond, I remember reading your birth story and thinking how freakishly similar it was to mine so I totally understand your fear of the clu! I think this time around I'm going to be as much of a pain in the arse as possible, if this drags on too long and induction starts to look like a possibility it will only happen after I've spoken to the superviser of midwives and have a plan in place that I'm totally happy with. It also helps that I have a doula this time and she doesn't take any shit!

I'm currently eating fresh pineapple and rubbing clary sage oil into my bump. I've been chasing ds around at the park this morning, walking up and down stairs sideways, been on a swing, slide and climbing frame and then a long walk uphill, the only thing left to do is jump on dh when he gets home. If this baby doesn't come out today I'm giving up!

Good luck emsgale and spannermary with your sweeps, I hope it works!

spannermary · 13/04/2012 14:56

Seen mw; waiting for doc. Bp 170:105. Eek!

Emsgale · 13/04/2012 15:40

well they couldnt do sweep as baby was not engaged!!!!!! gutted!!!!!!
induction booked for thursday 19th :-( :-)

spannermary hope your ok!?

VintageNancy · 13/04/2012 15:43

Emily Grace arrived at 12.30am on 13th April weighing a healthy 8lb14.

spannermary · 13/04/2012 15:50

Congratulations, Vintage what a gorgeous name too. And a fab weight.

Emsgale oh how frustrating...still waiting for sweep. They've given me a pill for bp which has lowered it to 146:98 (I know - not great) & they're admitting me overnight because of bp and rash. Then they're talking about monitoring and possibly inducing. Scary.

On the plus side, Emsgale, the 19th is a great day: it's my birthday! Hope you're feeling ok about it. Smile

HollyPockett · 13/04/2012 15:55

Had midwife appt at 13.45 and declined sweep. I'm only two days over and after last night's cramping and other signs I'm not so keen on moving her along much more than I have too. I think if I was more than 2 days over due I'd have done it but I really have a gut instinct that it wouldn't have helped anything along. It'll get to Sunday and I'll be fuming that I didn't give it a go!

Flisspaps · 13/04/2012 16:01

Vintage Congratulations Grin

Bloody uncomfortable today. Not ctx or even anything recognisable as BH, just lots of stabbiness in the cervix, weeing a LOT to the point where I thought perhaps my waters have gone (although I now think it was just wee, it's unlikely my waters will only leak when I'm sitting on the bog!)

But as DC is off to the side and almost OP I suppose that if I were to have ctx they'd be less regular and unusual as the head isn't on the cervix properly.

Who am I kidding, it'll be wind and I'll still be here with my huge, pregnant, whingy pants on next week Grin

Nordicmom · 13/04/2012 16:13

Congrats Vintage!!!! Good luck Spanner!

Bananna1 · 13/04/2012 16:47

Congratulations Vintage, lovely news :)

Bananna1 · 13/04/2012 16:50

Hope everything goes ok overnight in hospital Spanner - at least they are keeping an eye on you. Try not to worry :(

Flisspaps · 13/04/2012 16:50

Best of luck spanner Smile

LaTristesse · 13/04/2012 18:04
