lauraloo09 · 25/04/2012 17:26

sorry not been on for a few days and not able to catch up properly. not been well at all over the past 2 days, very bad migraine that i was sent home from work yesterday and have been in my bed most of the time since. i usually suffer terrible migraines and i take cocodomol but obviously i cant take them now. the migraines are in turn making my nausea and sickness worse. still waiting on my booking appointment and 12 week scan dates but was told my booking in should be around 11th may and scan around 25th may. hoping to feel better soon. just wondered if any of you have gained any weight. so far i have gained 2lbs and think this is mostly on my boobs Blush

StrawberrytallCAKE · 25/04/2012 17:27

Really sorry to hear that clueless, hope you're being looked after x

CODwidow · 25/04/2012 17:44

Sorry clueless, hope your able to get some time to yourself. Xx

Clarella · 25/04/2012 17:53

So sorry clueless, love and best wishes x

You sound like you are suffering terribly lauraloo, during week 8 I had terrible headaches (last week) which lingered. Hope you get better soon - mw keeps saying this is when hormones peak so hopefully they will ease soon for you.

Yes to weight, probably 3 or 4 pounds, seems to vary as to exercise so probably some water retention - swimming shakes it off well. (was verging on too skinny so prob a good thing) Not been doing even half the exercise I used to but seem to be feeling a lot fitter and less achey this week so gonna try getting going again. Been wimping out of martial arts stuff I do mainly so as not to field questions or get embarrassed when I can't do what everyone else and I could.

Due to previous skinniness and current ballooning I am showing quite a bit (a food baby!) esp at end of day and people at school are staring!

Spent all yesterday afternoon manning a vinegar and bicarb volcano 'mount etna' wowing the crowds for 'italy day,' v dozy by end of day and then remembered it produces CO2 ..... I wouldn't advise! (frantic googling - its fine just more sensitive!)

MyDaydream · 25/04/2012 17:58

Sorry for your loss clueless, hope your being well looked after.

whatmess · 25/04/2012 17:59

Hi ladies,
Just had my first midwife appt. It was supposed to be a booking appt, but midwife was running very late so we had a chat and she's coming to the house instead.
Despite the rather long wait, sat in a waiting room that smelt of cigarette smoke, so desperately trying not to puke all over the floor, it went quite well.
She's going to put me under consultant led care due to my prev mc, PCOS and endometriosis and has promised to try and get me an early scan but she made it clear that she couldn't promise anything.

She mentioned I have an increased chance of gestational diabetes due to the PCOS. Almost every health issue I have had and there have been quite a few is in some way linked to diabetes but blood tests have always come back normal. I even have a lovely scar above my eye from a faint due to a drop in blood sugar levels. It has been mentioned so many times to me, I'm almost waiting for the condition to just show up one day.

minipie · 25/04/2012 18:59

clueless I'm so sorry to hear that, take care of yourself.

that's interesting to know whatmess as I also have PCOS. Is the risk weight related do you know or does it apply even if you have a normal BMI?

well, I had a scan yesterday (my second Blush) after some more bleeding. happily all looked ok and I saw a heartbeat. the embyro was about the right size, maybe a couple of days behind what I thought I was, but sonographer said it was ok. she also told me no more scans till 12 weeks unless I am gushing blood! (well ok she didn't use those exact words but along those lines!)

Just realised that my maternity pay may be affected as I do pension contributions by salary sacrifice which brings down my salary Shock anyone know anything about this?

whatmess · 25/04/2012 19:12

Hi Mini, I guess it is weight related, i.e. the diabetes itself in that you're more likely to get it the heavier you are, but I don't think PCOS is necessarily. I've a BMI of 26 which isn't that significant and I have always had the fainting and the shakes, even when my BMI was well within the green zone. I suspect I have always had PCOS as I was seeing a specialist at the age of 17 about irregular periods, but it did not become a problem until recently. That could be a weight thing, or it could be my age, or something else completely. I have no idea and I don't think the drs do either to be honest.

cluelessnchaos · 25/04/2012 19:52

Thank you for all your kind messages, dh is home for another two weeks so I'm being well looked after x

brooke89 · 25/04/2012 19:56

Sorry to hear that clueless, make sure you look after yourself x

mwahmwah · 25/04/2012 19:59

So sorry to hear that clueless, but ur right to be so thankful for the blessing of having your other children. They'll never replace the one you've lost but each one is a little blessing to help you through xxx

YikesHereWeGo · 25/04/2012 20:15

:( Clueless, so gutted to hear about your loss. Big hugs to you!
Get well soon lauraloo. Yes, I have defo put on weight too - I nearly fainted when the mw weighed me yesterday. I would like to say it's just the added weight on my boobs but am pretty sure that's a lie.
whatmess - I've got to have a glucose test thingy to test for gestational diabetes too - but just coz my dad has type II diabetes, not for any other reason. I don't like the sound of having to starve myself for so long though. I'm constantly eating at the mo (no sickness at all, just v hungry all the time) so I think my body will go into shock if I have to go without food for a whole morning.
Take care all. xx

Barbeasty · 25/04/2012 20:31

Clueless really sorry.

minipie I pay my pension by salary sacrifice and it didn't hit my maternity pay. I think everything should be calculated from a headline rate before the deduction is made, the same as if you have childcare vouchers. You could probably get a definitive answer on the employment board.

Sickness definitely hitting in now. Like the nausea from a bad hangover- but without getting to enjoy the night before! I'm not looking forward to an all day meeting next week, especially if it gets worse.

CODwidow · 25/04/2012 20:47

Is anyone finding their symptoms come and go?? Just slighty worried as didn't actually feel too bad today and now convinced something's up!! So jealous of those who have had scans already such a reassurance!

Hope everyone's not feeling too bad this evening :)

Chloe55 · 25/04/2012 21:00

I'm so sorry clueless Sad

I didn't know that coonection with pcos and gestational diabetes-I have a bmi of 29 so that's not good. Would like to say I need to watch what I eat but about the only thing I can stomach right now is toast and rich tea biscuits!

PurplePidjin · 25/04/2012 21:00

It's red spotting we worry about, right, not brown?

FriendofDorothy · 25/04/2012 21:05

Oh well if we are playing BMI top trumps then I am winning with 36.

I have to see the nurse tomorrow and I bet she focuses on it :(

mwahmwah · 25/04/2012 21:12

Sad I know, but is anyone thinking names yet?! India, lillia, daisy, imogen, poppy? Max, Lucas?

mwahmwah · 25/04/2012 21:14

Pidgen - yep, brown is old blood I remember from my last 2 pregnancies. Xxx

CODwidow · 25/04/2012 21:16

purple is it much or do you have any pain? Brown is usually fine but take it easy this evening xx

minipie · 25/04/2012 21:18

mwah DH and I have been talking about names for ages Blush we have a couple picked out but I am dithering over the boy option ...

PurplePidjin · 25/04/2012 21:22

Very little bit, more like a tinge, and no pain. Dp very stressed and finally chilled in front of the footy, so trying to fret quietly Wink

MyDaydream · 25/04/2012 21:35

Purple - little bit of brown should be fine but I'd take it as an excuse to put my feet up for tonight.

Mwah - I've had my girls name since before I was pregnant, it's one of those MN hated ones I've gathered from reading baby names forum! I've got a boys middle name but really dislike a lot of boys names/nicknames.
