Sorry that was meant to be about DP's being supportive Blush

Only mine is being a pita....

FriendofDorothy · 21/05/2012 07:19

Gah I wish I felt better. Had another bleed this morning, pretty much as the same as on Friday. It was kind of rusty colour and I am going to have to assume that as there has been no pain that it is nothing.

It's driving me nuts now though. I waited so long to get pregnant and now I feel like I can't even enjoy it :(

Clarella · 21/05/2012 08:41

This must be the worst bit (till I imagine the third tri?!) - weeks and weeks of feeling sick, eating crap, worrying our selves senseless, being secretive, sparring and grumpy, unexplainable yet explainable tears, getting fat or not being able to eat, toilet paper peering and no wine - still feels like weeks till it gets better..... hang on in there girlies not long now!

I'm still craving fish and chips when I wake up :/

Not helpful to many but I'm actually getting excited about the scan on thurs (better than fearing it!) And determined to beat these quarantine and work stress blues. Signed off for another 2 weeks but with the aim of beginning to work from home on some end of year stuff and hopefully pop in a few days before the end of term.

Do we automatically get the nuchal fold test or is it an opt in/opt out thing?

Clarella · 21/05/2012 08:50

Friend of, I honestly never knew how un fun this first bit is - I knew it could be physically hard but not the other stuff, particularly the total lack of confidence in how it's going. Maybe its being a little older (i'm 35) and knowing too many friends who've had/are having a nightmare TTC and lots of mcs.

As you say it sounds like its ok as no pain, fingers crossed it stops soon.

I keep thinking about a colleague who at 26 and 9 weeks excitedly ran round the school telling everyone she was expecting - I have no idea how she could be so excited and confident. Possibly paid for early scan. (also her way to assure we risk assessed for her as the school apparently never provides one)

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 21/05/2012 09:38

morning people, I had a nightmare weekend with the sickness, kept down about 3 meals total (and they were take aways Blush) I've managed to only be sick once so far this morning though so fingers crossed!

am gunna ring the docs later and try and find out why i haven't heard from the midwives yet, haven't even got a booking appointment yet, let alone a scan appointment!

Can't wait for the scan so i can tell the kids :)

mwahmwah · 21/05/2012 11:22

Aw Stacey, the sickness is rotten. After a good day yest it was back with a vengance this morn for me too. Horrible.
Doc changed my pills to ones she used herself so I feel a bit more confident taking them without the guilt of effects on bubba! What a difference an understanding doc makes, signed me off for another two weeks and just to hear soneone say "i've bn there" was such a relief. Its bloody miserable. X

CODwidow · 21/05/2012 11:54

My tiredness seems to be getting worse and not better and this in turn makes the sickness bad bleurgh!! I keep trying to remind myself that I hate the 3rd tri much more than this as things are so difficult with a big belly attached!

Counting down the days to scan day 15 to go now Grin

Clarella · 21/05/2012 12:05

My sickness is mild, usually triggering a cheese binge. I have found miso soup helpful at times though if it helps anyone?

brooke89 · 21/05/2012 12:37

Anyone else suffering from really dry skin? Think mine is the worst it's ever been? When does the supposed glow come?

Sorry to hear about everyone suffering from sickness and nausea still-not much longer left!

Scan date confirmed for 31st! 9 days to go which is only 236 hours or 14183 minutes hahaha me bored at work...... Never!

PrunellaDeVille · 21/05/2012 12:52

brooke i'm with you on the dry skin, generally dry but with exceedingly dry and flaky skin all of a sudden between my fingers and on my elbows oddly. noticed a couple of days ago my elbows catching inside a knitted sleeve they are that dry.
also i've always had bad skin but i've had a surge in spots especially around my jawline - really vexing - i was longing for a miraculous clearing of my skin for once in my life but no Sad

anyone else had the odd (very small) glass of wine so far, i'm feeling guilty that i've had 4 in the last couple of months, i know it's not excessive but i also know none would be better Blush

blackcurrants · 21/05/2012 13:04

Morning all! Awake I am 5 hours behind you all, so it was more my bedtime MN (at 9.30 pm :) ) than a late night.

Got up at 4.30 for a pee and couldn't get back to sleep today - too hot and humid and couldn't get comfortable in bed... bloody nightmare, Ive got too much to do today without being knackered! Ach well. DH is brilliant and understands that I really can't do much in the first trimester because I'm so bloody tired. I'm finding myself more productive this time than last - last time I was in bed at 8pm every night, this time I am managing to stay up till at least 9pm so I can eat and talk to DH after DS is in bed. Whoop!

ellliebelle · 21/05/2012 13:42

well ladies i totally sympathise with those of you who have had crap weekends i have felt horrible ive just wanted to be alone :( the dd's have been too noisy and ive found myself really irritable shatteted and sick :( dh has been fantastic but last night i just cried cause ive hardley seen him or the girls all weekend (i know it was out of choice at the time but now i feel guilty for being bad wife/mummy)

to top it all off dd2 has woken up tjis morning and im sure she has slapped cheek :( it has been going round dd1's school so now im waiting for 9.30 tomorrow for her to see doc and me to have blood test if it is slapped cheek. and we go on hol on wed so wont get blood results till we come home :(

Stacks · 21/05/2012 13:49

Afternoon everyone. I had my booking in appointment this morning. Was all kind of boring run of the mill stuff - lots of questions about family history of everything and lots I answered in the positive to. In the family we've got diabetes, epilepsy, heart disease, asthma, allergies.... however, DH and I are fit and healthy, so all should be fine. I'm going under consultant led care because of medical history however, though the midwife said I'll probably only see her once, and all other care will be 'normal'.

Oh, for those who've not done their appointments yet - take along a full bladder. I failed to do so, and have to go hand in a sample to the doctors later. Also - they expected me to pee into one of those tiny tubes!! Who's aim is that good!?!

Clarella I was asked today if I wanted to opt in or out of the nuchal test, and also opting out of the whole 'detailed scan' looking for organ and spinal problems in the baby. Also the option to opt out of any blood test I didn't want etc.

ivanapoo · 21/05/2012 13:53

Prunella I didn't realise I was pg till 7 weeks and got rather pissed several times in those weeks Blush

I actually stopped drinking several days before I found out as felt a bit rough and had gone off it - I have had since then a sip of DH's beer, a teeny glass of red and a quarter glass of fizz so prob not dissimilar to you.

Fortunately though I just don't really fancy wine as my nausea etc seems a lot worse at night when I would usually be drinking.

I have found Bavaria 0% beer to be quite good when I've craved a cold lager.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 21/05/2012 13:58

stacks this being my 3rd pregnancy i declare i am a fantastic ain when it comes to little tubes :)

Doctor just rang and i am immune to slap cheek, hurrah :)

now just to get hold of midwives and find out why i haven't been booked in yet/even had an appointment letter!

minipie · 21/05/2012 14:38

Stacks after months of using OPKs I have pretty good weeing aim Grin

So are you opting out of the tests then?

Prunella I've had a little bit to drink - on 3 occasions when we've seen friends and I've taken a glass so as not to give myself away, then absentmindedly drunk some of it! Probably about 3 small glasses worth in total since POAS, I don't think it's really an issue.

3 days to go till my 12 week scan! (actually at 11+5) bring it on!

Stacks · 21/05/2012 14:46

mini I opted in for all the tests and bloods. I can't see myself going for any of the invasive tests, but the first stage ones are worth getting I think. I was surprised I had so much choice though, every blood test on the form had an 'opt out' box.

minipie · 21/05/2012 15:09

ah got it, I misread your post. I had the same thing - lots of consent boxes to tick and sign (I also opted in). I guess they have been criticised in the past for doing too much without asking so are trying to go the other way.

minipie · 21/05/2012 15:10

Now I think about it, I even had to sign a consent form for them to use any leftover blood from my blood tests for medical research purposes! Why on earth would anyone object to that Confused?

Clarella · 21/05/2012 15:29

Oh yes, doh I remember the mw asking now.... it was over a month ago! Thanks stacks! Preggo brain.

I've had (literally) the odd sip of favourite red wine, the only thing I fancy, and actually almost preferred virgin caipariniahs. Luckily DH has had bad wine choice of late! A friend craved cider and consumed the odd half now and then!

Great news stacey good luck chasing mws!

elliebelle try not to worry - 60% or more adults are immune, and even then the chances of passing to baby are low, around 25%. It would take a while to incubate in you (up to 3 weeks) by which time theyd know if you had been infected and could arrange monitoring and if needed, treatment for sprout. The blood test results can take up to 2 weeks - mine seem to be 9 days but I'm not immune. They are looking for old and new antibodies. They may compare with booking bloods. If you are not immune there will be another test in a month to rule out any infection (due to 3 week incubation) as most adults have no symptoms. DC's are only infectious before the rash appears, mostly when just a bit sniffly. The best thing you could do is simply get the blood test and then enjoy your holiday as much as possible. and tell school if it is confirmed in DD so they can monitor for their pregnant staff.

Soooo hard but try not to worry - I've probably worried enough for all of us!

Where to for hols? Hope no rain there!

Chloe55 · 21/05/2012 15:49

Despite having a definite 'bump' and feeling huge 2 people have asked me if I have been working out loads and what diet have I been on??? Shock aside from losing a stone a few weeks ago (which I was sure I had put back on in recent weeks) I have done nothing!!! I definitely feel bigger Confused.

Feel rough as again today, respite didn't last long. Have caved and had a couple of paracetamol too as head feels like it will explode, they haven't even touched it Sad

PurplePidjin · 21/05/2012 16:47

Scan in 18 hours but I'm 12+3 already. Where did the time go?

Hate being stuck between symptoms and showing - I've got neither and it feels very unreal. Keep having your remind myself I haven't had af for 3 months!

EggsMichelle · 21/05/2012 16:59

I've had a good day, got the date through for my scan (Thursday, whoopi!) bought some incredibly comfy maternity jeans (on sale at New Look if anyone interested) and maternity swimming costume. My nausea hasn't been as intense today either, so got to enjoy a frapachino at Starbucks. Now I'm going to enjoy a long soak in the bath with fancy Lush stuff. I really did go a bit mad whilst shopping, but it's been my first time shopping since falling pregnant, I deserved it!

CODwidow · 21/05/2012 17:09

My dh greeted me tonight with 'wow your awake' Blush
