That's great news Mini. I've very pleased for you and can't believe you've only one week to go until 12 week scan. Bit jealous here Smile, I've 3.

Really having a hard time with the throwing up. I'm 1 wk into the 2 wks the dr signed me off for and to date I've lost 3kgs. Just when I think it is starting to calm down, I seem to spend the whole day with my head down the loo.

The dr did offer me drugs but I was too scared to accept and said I'd see how I go without them. Now I think the end of the sick period is hopefully near so what's the point of taking them.

I really hope it is near. Not sure how much more of this I can take.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 17/05/2012 13:44

whatmess if you are suffering i'd say go forthe drugs, with dd i had sickness 24/7 until 8 1/2 months, sometimes it just doesn't stop naturally. Hopefully yours will but i don't wanna see you suffering hoping it will end soon and it jsut carrying on.

Big(unmumsnetty) hugs i know the sickness is awful x

mwahmwah · 17/05/2012 13:57

Yep I agree! I managed two pregnancies with the grin and bear it method but this time I feel so utterly awful i've sold out and started the anti-sickness drugs. The worry is awful but all the evidence suggests there should be no adverse effects. With two little children, i'm telling myself I had no choice but to take the pills, I can't go on like this :(

minipie · 17/05/2012 14:57

oh thank you whatmess, hello! sorry to hear about your puking, how miserable. are there any foods you can face? nibbling on dry crackers throughout the day is supposed to help, keeps your blood sugar levels steadyish (no doubt you already know this so not sure why I am saying it, desperate need to try to help I guess!)

I didn't have much nausea but what I did have went away at the start of week 10, which I gather is quite common, sounds like you are nearly there so hope it eases for you.

Lifeonthecanal · 17/05/2012 14:57

The sickness is just awful isn't it. I am sat on the sofa and just had a little cry as I feel so terrible and now have to make a birthday cake for a friend who is 30 today. I have no idea why I stupidly offered to make a cake. I can barely open my fridge without wretching.

Chloe sadly I don't live on a canal and sail from town to town :o. We live in Panama by the Panama Canal so really not as romantic as life on a barge! Having said that, the thought of bobbing up and down on the water isn't very appealing at the moment!

Lifeonthecanal · 17/05/2012 15:48

*retching even! Pregnancy hormones mean I can no longer spell!

mwahmwah · 17/05/2012 17:58

Booked in due date 30th Dec, little new year bubba maybes?! X

ivanapoo · 17/05/2012 18:30

Got my scan date for next Thurs...

canal I think retching IS wretching! ;)

sicilianlemons · 17/05/2012 18:47

Just been catching up on the thread since yesterday. Stacks, thanks for adding me to the list.

blackcurrants, your post reassured me that I'm not going bonkers, as I too have been really emotional and worried about being able to feel the same way about another baby as I do about DS. Good to know I'm not the only one having the occasional wobble.

oh, and am really shocked at how strong my cravings are for oranges. have just devoured two like I haven't seen food in a week :o

brooke89 · 17/05/2012 19:52

Evening everyone,

Had my booking appointment today, have to say was a big let down :( midwife was a student and didn't know the answer to a lot of my questions :s then she asked if she could try and hear a heartbeat and couldnt :( should i be worried about this???

I wish i had my own ultrasound machine!

Hope everyone is feeling ok, sorry to see some of you are suffering with sickness on the plus side, only 1 more day until the weekend!

minipie · 17/05/2012 19:56

brooke I was told they can't hear the heartbeat till 16 weeks usually so I wouldn't be worried by that.

ivanapoo my scan is next thurs too! Anyone else?

Chloe55 · 17/05/2012 20:00

Brooke please don't worry about the midwife not hearing a heartbeat, firstly she is still learning and secondly my midwife said she wouldn't consider listening in for a heartbeat until I was at least 12 weeks so sounds like it was just too soon.

I'm concerned I have an infection, sorry for tmi but just been for a wee and it smells so fishy down there Sad, had a thorough shower earlier today so am clean, have no unusual discharge though but somethings not right is it? Gonna pee on a stick (the medical kind) tomorrow at work I think. Horrid thoughts are going through my head like maybe the baby's died and that's what I can smell Sad I know I'm being ridiculous but going through a wobble aswell.

ivanapoo · 17/05/2012 20:32

Yay minipie - is this your first (too lazy to check list)

Chloe could it be BV? I think some infections like that are v common during preg and can be got rid of with ABs, whatever it is hope you are reassured soon.

CODwidow · 17/05/2012 20:34

I was told at my booking in that my mw wouldn't even try and listen til 16 weeks so I wouldn't worry.

blackcurrants · 17/05/2012 20:47

scicilian join us on the citrusyweepy crazytrain!

I cried this morning (walking the dog in the woods, thankfully no one could see) because I thought about a sweet video of a soldier coming back from Iraq to his toddler daughter in time for Christmas.... no, I didn't rewatch it. I just remembered it. And was in floods! So ridiculous!

Sickness better today - I'm so sorry for everyone who's felt awful. It has been replaced by ravenous hunger, though. Constant eating all day!

brooke89 · 17/05/2012 21:32

Thanks ladies, just confused now as to why she did - wish i'd said no!

Roll on the 12 week scan!!!

pleasebethismonth · 18/05/2012 07:50

Sorry to hear Sickness is bad for many, I'm now 12+3 and it isn't getting any easier.

Had my scan yesterday and all is well YAY! Grin bean measures 2 days ahead of my original dates which means I'm officially November. Hope you don't mind but I'll stay with you lovely dec ladies. I'll more than likely go over anyway!!

PurplePidjin · 18/05/2012 07:57

12 weeks today

Just hoping all's well with little Sprout. I hate this wait-and-see unsurety Sad

I'm also a bit concerned about announcing to my Daily Mail reading family that I'm going to have an illegitimate child with my black partner. I'm hoping they can swallow their shock and be polite, but there's no guarantee Sad (they've met him and get on very well, especially granny age 91!)

ivanapoo · 18/05/2012 08:38

Purple I really hope they are delighted for you and if they like your partner (and you're not underage/ didn't meet him 5 minutes ago) and this baby is wanted by you I'm sure they will be.

pleasebethismonth · 18/05/2012 08:44

Purple- how good does it feel to be 12 weeks!? Did you say a while back it was the first grandchild? I'm sure they will be delighted for you both.

Booked in to get my hair done this morning but my hairdresser has cancelled. Now I can't motivate my arse from the sofa!

PurplePidjin · 18/05/2012 08:53

We've been together 2.5 years, living together for 2. So not much of a surprise really!

Sprout's potential grandparents are thrilled. It's my grandmother, Sprout's Great Grandma, who has foot-in-mouth syndrome...

whatmess · 18/05/2012 09:02

Hi ladies, thanks for the advice. After a particularly bad day yesterday where even water and crackers wouldn't stay down, I've decided to bite the bullet and go back to the GP.

I will accept the drugs as I can't carry on like this, but I also think I need another Keytones test. I just hope it doesn't end with me being admitted and drip fed, which is what the dr threatened the last time I saw him.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 18/05/2012 09:08

sickness yest and today has been awful, but i have good days and bad days so hopefully the weekend will be better!

glad everyone with scans have had good news :) i still don't have a booking in appointment or scan appointment and i'm 10 weeks on sunday, i rang and left a message for the community midwives but have yet to hear back!

FriendofDorothy · 18/05/2012 09:26

Hmmm I have had another small bleed this morning. Darker and a bit mucus-y if you know what I mean (sorry if TMI) so I am hoping it is old blood.

Have managed to swing another scan today which is great but I an shitting msyelf again.

pleasebethismonth · 18/05/2012 10:02

Good luck FOD, I'm sure all is well
