Had my scan this morning, cried uncontrollably Blush but lovely sonographer gave me a free pic because she said I was specialSmile ( having seen her quite a few times for follicle scans leading up to this!) she said it was hard to get exact dates as baby was snuggling into the wall but reckoned I was about 6w5d, not 7w3d that I though I was! That 5 dys makes all the difference to me at the mo as feel sick as a dog and the sooner I'm out of first trimester the better!!

Had a lively day off with dh, went for food then to cinema to watch cabin in the woods-he was very jumpy Grin.

This confinement thing sounds intriguing? What exactly does it entail?

Good news on the scan loo -must be handy working in a hospital!

CODwidow · 23/04/2012 17:14

I'll be 8w1d when I see my mw but here you don't see gp you just book direct. Then hopefully my scan will be at about 11/12 wks.

Getting quite excited about buying things now already been looking at so much on line. Funny how I always look at the blue things soo convinced it's another boy as already have 4ds's but really don't mind as long as I get a baby at the end of this! :)

acjfluff · 23/04/2012 17:47

I saw the midwife for the 1st time last week at 6+4, he said to wait for letters from the hospital about booking appt and scan but I didn't think to ask how long it would be!

Still feeling perfectly normal and un-pregnant Confused

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 23/04/2012 18:07

COD we've been buying already Blush although no clothes and only neutral stuff atm, i think it's a boy but dunno why, i knew dd was a girl but was unsure when pg with ds, dunno why im so sure its a boy this time!

got docs appointment tomo and they will refer me to midwives, can't wait for it to be official :)

made one of my friends cry this morning when i told her, lol!

StateofConfusion · 23/04/2012 18:31

Just checking back in, I'm 6+3 now, and wishing the next 6wks away tbh, my previous mc has scared me.

I've had a sense this ones a boy, its weird!

And been having the odd look at bits but trying not to get too excited yet.

Bellaboo123 · 23/04/2012 19:00

Hi,
Thought I'd check in to...6w+5 seem to be feeling ok...bit of ms in the morning but not actually sick! Totally lost my appetite now as opposed to stuffing my face the last two week.
Mw on sat sooooo excited! I've been to the gp...not really sure what's going to happen is this a booking in appt?
Hope ur all doing well - so lovely to know there's others out there at the same stageGrin

StrawberrytallCAKE · 23/04/2012 19:13

Shangers - I would love to try confinement (without the non showering part too) and might insist on it for two weeks while dh is on paternity leave but after that I'll have to get up to take dd to nursery!! I did the same as you last time, I was out 6 hours after birth and having lunch out the next day! I didn't give myself a break at all but this time I'm going to have lots of comfy pyjamas for the first couple of weeks and really take it easy. One of our old neighbours had her parents come over after she gave birth and seemed to have quite a strict confinement period but she couldn't speak English very well so I couldn't ask her about it she also snapped back to her usual size very quickly. I haven't heard about these massages? I'll be on google in a minute!!

I was also looking at maybe having a doula but last time my birth was quite quick even though it was an induction and I have a feeling this one will be the same so I'm not sure how much support I will need. I do wish we had a pregnancy insurance here so that some sort of care was guaranteed in labour.

Clarella · 23/04/2012 19:25

Oh dear teajunky, hope stuff sorts soon.

Glad chloes DH being nice :)

Welcome newbies!

Had booking appt, mw reckons I'm due 1st Dec, and am 8+ 3, last p makes me 8+ 5 confused!

Also mentioned what sicky feeling I had had is fading, she reckoned hormones peak now - cue worry! Not really that worried though till have reason to be (can't be bothered!)

Decided lots of sugar brings out the monster in me :)

ng1412 · 23/04/2012 19:34

Hello, can I join in please? I got my first BFP a few days ago but have been testing every other day just to make sure. I am finally starting to believe it's true.

Am 4+6 and am due around end of December. This is my second, I have a DD aged 11 months. Oh and it was planned, I am 42 and getting older by the second. Plus we are not in the UK this time so it's all a bit scary.

What is this confinement thing?

minipie · 23/04/2012 19:40

evening all! just found the new thread.

completely love the Dragon emoticon. I think having a dragon baby is brilliant - can't remember what the Chinese horoscopes say about dragons but they must be fiery right Grin

I am having (another Blush) early scan tomorrow morning when I will be 7+5. I am hoping so much that there will be a good strong, fast heartbeat.

shangers I have read about confinement - where the mother in law basically waits on the new mother hand and foot for several weeks. I can see the benefits, but on the other hand it seems to mainly happen in cultures where the wife lives with the husband's parents - not sure I would enjoy that quite so much Grin.

Anyone had a doula? I saw someone upthread asking the same thing. Was it worth it?

I'm amazed at those of you who have a feeling about the sex... I find it hard to believe there is an actual baby in me, never mind having any idea what sort it is! But perhaps if you have had DCs before you have a better idea?

Chloe55 glad your scan was good news. Am Envy about the pic - might see if I can beg the sonographer to give me a pic tomorrow...

PrunellaDeVille · 23/04/2012 20:21

anyone else so bloated they're starting to actually look pregnant? i know it's early days but i've got an undeniable potbelly emerged in the last week, it gets bigger with bloating as the day wears on each day then deflates slightly overnight but it's constantly there.

so my mind has turned to clothing, i've spent half the day altering clothes and making a few new things with stretch that'll do me to start with. i've already had to give up my beloved skinny jeans and moved into some old low rise boyfriend jeans.

so where would you go for decent clothes that'll make the grade for the blooming times ahead??? (don't want to invest much as i'm skint they're only going to be used in the short term)

soandsosmum · 23/04/2012 20:22

Hello all, esp newbies

Welcome to our chatty chatty thread!

I had my booking in appointment with my MW last week - nice lady. And have my bloodshed tomorrow. hate hate hate needles so am dreading it :( must remember to listen to my hypnobirthing tracks tonight and use it when I go.

I'm still just very tired which is how I was with dd1. Can't wait for trem. 2 and a bit more energy!

CODwidow · 23/04/2012 20:24

I've been scared by the mc I think stacey because I bought bits then and when it happened I then hated coming home to look at it so I've promised I'll wait until at least the first scan is out of the way.

I just assume it'll be a boy as after 4 I can't imagine anything different but perhaps this one will be a pink one, not sure I'll know what to do with her though :) lol

PrunellaDeVille · 23/04/2012 20:27

shangers and strawberry really interested in the idea of this chinese post-natal massage that helps pop everything back the way it was. what would one search for in the uk?/or strawberry has your research turned anything up?

ivanapoo · 23/04/2012 20:41

Hello dragonbods.

Does anyone else feel like they have a constant lump in their throat they can't swallow? Had for about a month and not sure if it's part of my lingering cold or hormonal.

Having a stressful time at work at the moment. They have asked me to literally double my workload for a tiny payrise. It's a good opportunity but scared about the additional stress and hassle, and i am finding fighting for more money really stressful too. Any advice on handling work greatly received!

CupOfBrownJoy · 23/04/2012 20:41

Just been for my first appointment and got a picture of a little black blob! Exciting...

My edd has changed from 19th to 21st of December. I can just see the little one arriving on Christmas morning at this rate!

Grin

Hope everyone is keeping well. My gynae said something that really resonated; that I am pregnant, not ill, that I should carry on just as I have been, no changes at all (although she did say not to eat raw meat or egg and obvs no fags or alcohol). She said that whatever happens in the next few weeks will be down to my body, and not what I do, that if the pg isn't going to happen, nothing I do will make any difference to that and vice versa, so to keep living and try not to worry.

I thought they were wise words....

cherrypiew3 · 23/04/2012 20:43

Evening everyone and welcome to the newbies.

6+6 today and I am really struggling with the ms now it kicked in on Saturday and lasts all day. I had bad ms with the other 3 dc so was not really expecting to get away with it. Second GP appointment tomorrow and then should be given a midwife.

Prunella I am not sure if it's bloating I have or if I really do have a baby bump starting to show. Dh and my friend have both now commented on the little bump.

FriendofDorothy · 23/04/2012 21:15

Seeing as the baby is about the size of a lentil I am not convinced there is any baby bump. I am just fat!

I have just realised next Saturday is my first night out without drinking. People are already questioning why I am going to be driving!

CODwidow · 23/04/2012 21:15

ivanapoo I have that in my throat usually after 4pm though so I think I need to eat my evening meal earlier as cant face it once that happens.

Bellaboo123 · 23/04/2012 21:16

Cherry pie and prunella im the same bloating increases throughout the day and then disappears over night! Very windy too Blush

livismum · 23/04/2012 21:21

Hi all! Appointments seem such a long time off still, only 4wks 3days so at least 4 weeks till I book in with midwife! I too am v bloated, none of my nice stuff fits! I work in a clothes shop and have to be in "current" stuff, I've spent all my allowance for up to July! Oops! So hiding this belly till scan is going to be fun, got a couple of things but sure some people will notice esp as some knew we wanted number 3!

backwardpossom · 23/04/2012 21:54

Honestly, you disappear for a couple of days and you lot fill up a thread and a new one is well underway! Can't keep up!

Am feeling tired, but no symptoms apart from that...

MyDaydream · 23/04/2012 22:54

Evening all,
I'm very jealous of all the early scans even though I doubt anything would show up.
Prunella have a look on eBay for clothes, I bought a few maternity pieces with my last pregnancy because I was so bloated around 6/7 weeks and didn't want to spend a lot, will be doing the exact same thing if this one sticks. I'm still wearing a few of the bits I bought because really they were just empire line dresses.
Bella I'm happy to hear someone else complain of wind, I thought it was just me.
I'm going on holiday in a few weeks when I'll be 6 weeks, hopefully I won't massively bloat. I've bought some nice clothes to go away in and don't want to be too bloated to fit in anything.

SpottyTeacakes · 24/04/2012 06:49

I am soooo hungry and we haven't got any food! I might have to have pasta for breakfast at this rate.

Hope no one is suffering with ms too much today Smile

YikesHereWeGo · 24/04/2012 08:07

Morning all.
Hope everyone's feeling ok today.
Woke up ranting today as mil-to-be sent me a text late last night saying we should change the time of our wedding so she can check into her hotel room beforehand. The constant interfering makes me so cross and being preggo doesn't make it easier to handle. Deep breaths, deep breaths.
On a jollier note, got my mw appt this afternoon so I should be able to ask lots of questions about implications of my freaky uterus. I hope there's no blood tests today (am needle-phobic) but I have my suspicions!
Cheerio folks.
